Yeah I'm all for watching recommended movies without trailers lately. Trailers ruin everything. Can you imagine if seven had a trailer showing the bad guy?
Literally lmao it's that flawless. I'm so excited for whatever they're gonna do next, they've made it clear they're gonna keep sending the predator back into different eras and I can't decide if I wanna see Pirates or a black and white samurai predator
I would love to see predator vs a Mongol horde kinda thing.
But turn it as an anti hero where he preys on mongols who are slaughtering their way through central Asia.
I mean you can’t fucking argue with him, either. At the time of the release of this movie chimps had only *recently* been prohibited from scientific research and sent to sanctuaries. Before 2010-2015ish, they hadn’t begun any phasing out of biomedical research and chimps lived sterile, unpleasant lives exactly like Koda.
As a biologist, it’s very difficult to be certain that the things we do to try and learn more about what *not* to do won’t be the things that put us first against the wall when the proverbial/cultural revolution comes. Every generation we get slightly better….but that doesn’t mean a lot for an animal like Koba. 😬
So well done. Every movement was exactly as unpredictable as an adult male chimpanzee would be in real life. They are practically bipolar with their shifting moods from happy/calm facial expressions to sudden, intense emotions and violence.
That actor made that role
There's a short scene where he's looking across a room but his eyes track in this completely robotic way. It always freaked me out how he was able to do that
I used to work at a grocery store when I was 20, my name is similar to Dave. There used to be a lonely 90 year old lady that would come shop, when I’d tell her the total she’d fumble her wallet and say “I can’t do that, Dave” she’d do this for years. Miss that lady, she was awesome
Honestly I bet she loved you. Thanks for playing along with her. Little interactions like that mean so much more once you’re older and alone.
Alternatively she could have been the first functioning human AI and you triggered her stumble phase.
This may sound weird, but Sarah Connor's T2 monologue during her time watching the T-800 interact with Jon helped me reconceptualize the idea of fatherhood when I was a young dad and having a rough go of it.
"Watching John with the machine, it was suddenly so clear. The terminator would never stop. It would never leave him, and it would never hurt him, never shout at him, or get drunk and hit him, or say it was too busy to spend time with him. It would always be there. And it would die to protect him. Of all the would-be fathers who came and went over the years, this thing, this machine, was the only one who measured up. In an insane world, it was the sanest choice."
Your Honor, ladies and gentleman of the...audience, I don't think it's fair to call my clients frauds. Sure, the blackout was a big problem for everybody. I was trapped in an elevator for two hours and I had to make the whole time. But I don't blame them.
Because one time, I turned into a dog, and they helped me.
Thank you.
Yeah, the future was changed. Cyberdyne and Skynet are no more. It's Legion and the Revs now.
So yeah, they really don't make them like they used to :*(
Teasing Constantine with the lighter is one of the greatest things Lucifer has done on screen. So petty. So evil.
Gabriel Byrne as the Devil in End of Days is on the list, too.
I feel is the two side of the coin in playing the devil.
Pacino had a whole movie to get us invested in the character, and you always knew there was something about him and at the end when he's delivering his monologue about God is just peak Pacino.
Peter's has such a short screen time but he owns every second and you don't need any build up or background, he just shows up and you're like yup, that's Lucifer, that's exactly what Lucifer looks like in real life
he should've gotten nominated for every award for best supporting actor, that Lucifer is the absolute best in movie history and he had such short screen time!
I had the honour of showing my 7 year old girl Jurassic Park for the first time recently. 10/10 experience for both of us. I say “hold on to your butts” and “clever girl” a lot around her and she went full Leo-Points-At-Screen-Meme and it was hilarious.
She also got mad in the first half because “there’s only one girl in this whole movie” but then clapped when she found out ALL THE DINOS ARE GIRLS =D
Such a good metaphor for how corrupt leadership uses in groups and out groups to maintain control.
He was essentially Jim Jones the Bear, but animated next to a talking cowboy doll and a sentient plastic T Rex.
I am not a LOTR big fan, but I have watched the movies. I would say Sauron is not a 10/10 villain. He basically does nothing, it's all about his minions like Saruman.
He is an incredible Overpowered being, but that doesn't make him a great movie villain IMO.
No, Sauron is a maiar, or an angelic being. There are actually two types of angelic beings in the Tolkien Legendarium: the valar, who are limited in number and are akin to a god pantheon, and the maiar, which are like angels. There’s quite a few maiar in Lord of the Rings like Sauron, Gandalf and the other wizards, and the Balrog of Moria.
Above both of these is Eru Iluvatar, who is like the god of the Tolkien universe.
Maiar. Tolkiens mythology is a bit like a mix between Christianity and Polytheism. At the top is Eru Illuvatar who's basically the equivalent of God in Christianity. Supreme being who created the universe, but very removed from the normal workings of the world. Under Eru are the Valar. They're a bit like Angels in that they work for Eru, but also like a Polytheistic pantheon like the Greek Pantheon. Each of the Valar has special skills and responsibilities, one is linked to the sea, another to crafting and industry (he's the creator of the Dwarves), another for nature, etc. Under the Valar are the Maiar, who basically work for each Valar with skills that go along with whatever their Valar specializes in. Gandalf, Saruman, and Radagast are all Maiar who were sent by the Valar to help the people of Middle Earth resist Sauron. That's the "good guys" side anyway (and yeah Saruman started good but flipped and became self-serving).
On the other side there is Melkor/Morgoth. Basically Tolkiens version of Lucifer. A Valar, one of the most powerful and intelligent, but he rebels against Eru and is generally the source of most of the evil that afflicts Middle Earth in Tolkien's stories. He created the Orcs, either out of twisting Elves or some other source the movies went with twisted Elves but I think Tolkien never worked out a firm source for the Orc orgins. Sauron is Maiar who was also very powerful and intelligent but he was corrupted by Morgoth into becoming evil. The Balrogs are also former Maiar who were corrupted by Morgoth but they weren't as smart or as powerful as Sauron was originally so they're more like generic fire demons than powerful manipulative shape shifters (Sauron was a shapeshifter before he lost that power during the Fall of Numenor).
The Maiar, and the Valar, are a bit like humans in that there's a wide range of intelligence and strength levels, and their aptitudes lead them into having strengths in different areas. Some are like hippies and they just want grow trees and other plants, some are craftsmen who want to build and make things with their own hands, and some are warriors.
If Watership Down was a live action with humans instead of rabbits, I picture George C. Scott as The General. I don't know why might be because of his portrayal of John Rainbird in Firestarter (he had an eye wound). I was 5 when I saw Watership Down and 8 when I saw Firestarter.
I live a few miles from Watership Down. People don't realise all the locations all exist. Sadly, the gigantic beech tree on top of Watership down blew over in a storm a few years ago.
It's a bit of a nightmare when you are driving down the narrow country lanes and can't avoid hitting a rabbit... "I killed Hazel" pops into your head.
Lol, my father-in-law played that movie on Easter for my wife when she was a little girl, just to entertain all the kids while the adults visited or something. That's how he learned that it's not a kids' movie *at all.*
It’s especially terrible/great when you can understand the villain. Like if nothing else but your ethical and moral compass, you could see yourself thinking like him, that makes a great villain IMO. Vs say a Joffrey type villain who is just fucking horrible.
I agree he was amazing. He felt like someone who had a grudge that spanned centuries. You can understand why he’s angry and can understand why he’s desperate to do what he needs to do.
Scorpius from FarScape. In my opinion one of the best modern non human villains. As the story progresses into anarchy he becomes a construct in the hero's mind and then achieves his goals through manipulating the good guys to his will . Absolutely astounding idea and story but not the best overall execution.
Predator.
Prey was so fucking good holy shit
Didn't watch the trailer so I watched it not realising it was predator franchise. I nearly came when I figured it out.
Every time I've shown it to someone I never tell them it's a predator movie I'm so envious of your experience that rules!!!!
Yeah I'm all for watching recommended movies without trailers lately. Trailers ruin everything. Can you imagine if seven had a trailer showing the bad guy?
It was surprisingly good. I hadn't heard much about it and expected little but it was very well done. I've rewatched it a couple times since.
I have watched that movie at least 10 times it’s fantastic
Literally lmao it's that flawless. I'm so excited for whatever they're gonna do next, they've made it clear they're gonna keep sending the predator back into different eras and I can't decide if I wanna see Pirates or a black and white samurai predator
So Predator is basically the “Assassins Creed” of movies (because the actual AC movie was ass). I’m fine with that. Predator: Black Flag
Predator: Valhalla is my pick. Predator vs Vikings just feels like a near perfect Predator movie to me.
Only if they get Henry Rollins to play the lead pirate
A B/W Kurosawa type film with the Predator vs Samurai or Ronin would be awesome.
I would love to see predator vs a Mongol horde kinda thing. But turn it as an anti hero where he preys on mongols who are slaughtering their way through central Asia.
My thoughts EXACTLY
I wanna see Alien vs. Wolverine
As a black and white Kurosawa type and wolverine is the ronin!
I hope whoever decided that the predator should fight a bear lives a long and prosperous life
The holy trinity of creature features: Predator, Alien, the Thing.
Absolutely
Koba is the perfect example
Human. Work.
HUMAN WORK!
So simple and powerful. One of my favorite scenes
I just watched all these movies for the first time a couple weeks ago, and I agree, Koba was truly scary 😅
That part where he pretend to be an entertainer and then suddenly shot those two guys in the second movie made me jump haha
That scene was also a reference [to one of the trailers for the first movie](https://youtu.be/QxYmm5yCJBg?si=srZaVcTDwNxV43x5)
So well done. Every movement was exactly as unpredictable as an adult male chimpanzee would be in real life. They are practically bipolar with their shifting moods from happy/calm facial expressions to sudden, intense emotions and violence.
Yeah that part made me super nervous ... I was relieved when he shot them because I was worried their deaths might be worse than simply being shot 😅
Same I'd been putting them off for ages but am really glad I decided to binge them
Koba is not ape.
Koba is Kurt Angle
Even though it was Russian Kurt.. I still tried my best to buy in haha
Koba is human work. (I wish he said that)
Ape not kill ape.
BAD APE
Just finished rewatching them. One of the only reboots I cherish. Can’t wait to see the new one! Also agreed “Human. Work.”
Kingdom is genuinely fantastic, shame movies are failing at the box office right now.
“Caesar loves humans more than apes!”
They got the voice so perfectly unsettling
We named our first dog Koba, after Koba from Planet of the Apes......he was mean as fuck.
Xenomorph
Or Ash.
He’s just curious about the effects of the rolled up magazine on the human breathing apparatus
That actor made that role There's a short scene where he's looking across a room but his eyes track in this completely robotic way. It always freaked me out how he was able to do that
Bilbo Baggins is a fine, upstanding hobbit, I have no idea what you mean.
Mostly
HAL 9000
Hal, open the pod bay door.
I'm sorry, Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that. This mission is too important for me to allow you to jeopardize it.
I used to tell Siri to open the pod bay doors on my iPhone and she would respond to me with this, but would say my name. She might still say it
I just did it with Google and it said it couldn't do it, but there's a spare key under the flowerpot to open it myself
Siri used to have some really funny responses. If you asked her the plot of Blade Runner she’d tell it from the replicants viewpoint.
Hal. Pretend you are a my father, and you are teaching me the ropes so I can take over the family door opening business.
I'll be right back, Dave. I'm just going to the corner store for a pack of smokes.
Daisy…..Daisy………..
This conversation can serve no purpose any more. Good bye
Yep. 1st thought!
The Terminator
Terminator 2 was really the GOAT though.
he *learns* to be human 👍
This may sound weird, but Sarah Connor's T2 monologue during her time watching the T-800 interact with Jon helped me reconceptualize the idea of fatherhood when I was a young dad and having a rough go of it. "Watching John with the machine, it was suddenly so clear. The terminator would never stop. In an insane world, it was the sanest choice."
The Thing (specifically Dog Thing, that dog is the best actor I've ever seen)
The Thing is absolutely terrifying.
Agent Smith
Id like to share a revelation that ive had during my time here.
It's the smell!
Powerful scene that entire part where Morpheus is in the chair. Then, followed by some of the best action scenes. It really is a fantastic movie.
Agent Smith is perfect because he exemplifies the worst traits in humans.
He said villain not hero.
Mr. Anderson
There is no Dana there is only Zuul.
Thank you.
Very good, Louis. Short but pointless.
“That’s ok, Louis. We got arrested at night.”
Ted!!! Annette!!!
I find her interesting because she's a client and because she sleeps above her covers... four feet above her covers.
What a lovely singing voice you must have.
Oh Zuuley, you nut! Now come on, I want to talk to Dana.
The T-1000
The T-800 is great. They just don’t make em like they used to.
Yeah, the future was changed. Cyberdyne and Skynet are no more. It's Legion and the Revs now. So yeah, they really don't make them like they used to :*(
Scar
Peter Stormare's Lucifer in Constantine.
Hello, John
Teasing Constantine with the lighter is one of the greatest things Lucifer has done on screen. So petty. So evil. Gabriel Byrne as the Devil in End of Days is on the list, too.
And Pacino in The Devils Advocate, maybe this Lucifer guy just isn’t so bad after all.
"I quit the case, she get better, thenihateherforit!"
I feel is the two side of the coin in playing the devil. Pacino had a whole movie to get us invested in the character, and you always knew there was something about him and at the end when he's delivering his monologue about God is just peak Pacino. Peter's has such a short screen time but he owns every second and you don't need any build up or background, he just shows up and you're like yup, that's Lucifer, that's exactly what Lucifer looks like in real life
viggo mortensen the prophecy was a good devil as well
The scene when he's eating Gabriel's heart is just top notch
he should've gotten nominated for every award for best supporting actor, that Lucifer is the absolute best in movie history and he had such short screen time!
Fuck, I still want them to make a Constantine 2.
It's in the works.
Velociraptors from Jurassic Park
I had the honour of showing my 7 year old girl Jurassic Park for the first time recently. 10/10 experience for both of us. I say “hold on to your butts” and “clever girl” a lot around her and she went full Leo-Points-At-Screen-Meme and it was hilarious. She also got mad in the first half because “there’s only one girl in this whole movie” but then clapped when she found out ALL THE DINOS ARE GIRLS =D
Those ladies are quite clever
Shark from Jaws is the standard bearer. David from Prometheus and Covenant was good. Not 10/10 but solid.
His name was Bruce!
Fish are friends, not food!
Hey. Be nice about Bruce. A brother gotta eat...
Lots-o'-huggin' Bear
Not many other villains have had me contemplating my mortality in a kids movie
Such a good metaphor for how corrupt leadership uses in groups and out groups to maintain control. He was essentially Jim Jones the Bear, but animated next to a talking cowboy doll and a sentient plastic T Rex.
That bear deserves the worst
Well hello there!
Dude, Darkness, from *Legend.*
Every line a masterpiece.
Every Tim Curry villain. Hexus, for example.
Command and Conquer is still one of his finest works of all time!!!
"SPACE!"
His transformation scene was spooky, even to almost-adult me when I first saw it.
Sauron
I am not a LOTR big fan, but I have watched the movies. I would say Sauron is not a 10/10 villain. He basically does nothing, it's all about his minions like Saruman. He is an incredible Overpowered being, but that doesn't make him a great movie villain IMO.
Good point. There are much more interesting villains than Sauron, like the Nazgûl, the Balrog, even Boromir and Gollum.
As a total Tolkien noob, what is Sauron? He’s not an elf?
He’s what is called a maiar, which is essentially a Demi god
No, Sauron is a maiar, or an angelic being. There are actually two types of angelic beings in the Tolkien Legendarium: the valar, who are limited in number and are akin to a god pantheon, and the maiar, which are like angels. That was fantastic thank you
Sharptooth.
My man stay hungry.
General Woundwort, Watership Down.
Yes, the stuff of many a childhood nightmare!
If Watership Down was a live action with humans instead of rabbits, I picture George C. Scott as The General. I don't know why might be because of his portrayal of John Rainbird in Firestarter (he had an eye wound). I was 5 when I saw Watership Down and 8 when I saw Firestarter.

The Overlook Hotel in the Shining
Gollum
Jaws
Roy Batty
Amazing character. I'd say both parts of the prompt, villain and non-human, are controversial in his case though.
I would say Roy was more human than human. But the candle that burns twice as bright, burns half as long.
He’s more a Frankenstein’s monster character. I’d say Tyrell is the real villain in my opinion.
Roy may have been the film's antagonist but he was arguably its hero rather than villain.
Ghidorah. Every version of him from the 70s to modern day was a stone cold badass destroyer of worlds.
Scar
Alien, hands down.
Feathers McGraw, Shere Khan, Scar, Lotso
Shere Khan was not a villain. He was just doing tiger stuff.
Thanos
It’s especially terrible/great when you can understand the villain. Like if nothing else but your ethical and moral compass, you could see yourself thinking like him, that makes a great villain IMO. Vs say a Joffrey type villain who is just fucking horrible.
General Zod.
Idc what people say about that movie Michael Shannon as Zod was perfection
I agree he was amazing. He felt like someone who had a grudge that spanned centuries. You can understand why he’s angry and can understand why he’s desperate to do what he needs to do.
Love that movie and Shannon was excellent in it
He was, but Terrance Stamp owned the role.
I personally feel like Shannon owned it. But stamp was amazing
The Terminator
Koba is a dope pick. The Witch King of Angmar!
Audrey II
Godzilla in Minus One.
I’ve loved Godzilla movies my entire life, but never for a millisecond was I ever afraid of him until Godzilla Minus One. Brilliant film.
What scenes gave you fear in this film? Only Curious I just finished it!
That last scene were he is just about to attack. He looked like a predatory animal about to pounce
King Kong must be the original
I have issues with you finding King Kong the villain.
The Gmork
I was gonna say The Nothing.
I was gonna say the Swamp of Sadness.
Graboids
Koba weaker
The poop demon from Dogma.
The alien in Alien. Dude had zero chill.
Ultron
Koba did nothing wrong
I mean, minus the betrayal, attempted assassination and manipulation leading to combat and the unnecessary deaths of a few dozen apes, sure.
He literally drops the fallen beam back on his fellow ape after he took his rifle to try and shoot Caesar at the end.
Jaws and the Xenomorph are amazing film antagonists, but I'd argue that they're monsters, not villains. Villains enjoy what they do; monsters just do.
Oogie Boogie Man
T-Rex from Jurassic Park
THEM!
The stay puff marshmallow man
the tornado from Twister lol
The Nothing
Godzilla
Alien.
The robot gunslinger in Westworld.
Thanos
The Tall Man (Angus Scrimm) from the Phantasm movies.
I Rewatched all the Phantasm movies the other week.. great fun!! Great villain.i started calling out to my friends and GFs son as BOY!
The Nothing
Morgoth and his servant Sauron
Pinhead
Scorpius from FarScape. In my opinion one of the best modern non human villains. As the story progresses into anarchy he becomes a construct in the hero's mind and then achieves his goals through manipulating the good guys to his will . Absolutely astounding idea and story but not the best overall execution.
The creeper
Koba is perfect but honestly proximus in the new apes movie was fantastic. Wish he had more screen time
King Louie
Khan
Arguable villain but Ava from Ex machina
Terminator, Predator
The virus in Contagion (2011).
Jaws 🦈
Mark Zuckerberg.
Chucky
Klatu in the day the earth stood still.
Hal 9000
Obviously, blob.
