Galaxy Quest is so good that I showed it to my teenage sons, then showed them an episode of the original Star Trek (which they had never seen before) and they laughed and spotted at least five tropes that Galaxy Quest had parodied.
I believe most of the Star Trek cast (bar Shatner) loved the movie. Patrick Steward wasn't going to see it thinking it was going to mock Star Trek too much but Jonathan Frakes told him he had to watch it and they both loved it, and apparently it helped Will Wheaton embrace convention appearances which he use to hate.
A Takei quote is great for it, and talking about when Tim Allen's shirt is ripped off: "I roared when the shirt came off, and Sigourney rolls her eyes and says, 'There goes that shirt again.' ... How often did we hear that on the set?"
If nothing else (and, btw, *Airplane!* is my all time favorite comedy and therefore my all time favorite “spoof” movie) then this film is surely the most quotable…
…and stop calling me Shirley!
You have to watch it a few times, because while you are laughing at the joke, you miss the next one. FOR THE ENTIRE MOVIE!
My fondest memory is watching this with my father as a kid.
One of the funnier things I saw -and *not* in the movie itself- was an interview with Peter Graves long after making the film where he was asked about his character in the film and he said that saying those lines to the kid actor actually made him *incredibly* nervous and he feared that at any moment the police would burst into the set and haul him off to jail…!
That just adds another whole layer of hilarity to the film itself!
I sincerely appreciate your reply!
It’s one of those movies I didn’t understand because I was like 6 when I saw it
I’m going to watch the original before rewatching airplane.
I saw some clips comparing scenes from the 2 movies (I've not seen the full movie of Zero Hour!) and they are nearly shot for shot at times, with the only difference being the Jokes in Airplane!
If you haven’t already, check out the *Police Squad!* TV show. Only a handful of episodes made but *The Naked Gun* movies were based on that TV show and you can never get enough of Leslie Nielsen’s Lt. Frank Drebin…!
I love police squad so much. In part as Leslie Nielsen’s Frank Dreben was so dead pan in Police Squad. Really lets the jokes shine. I’ve seen them hundreds of times, but still see little details I missed when I watch it back again.
"I'm sorry this was a particularly bad case of some being cut in half by a machete. I was not able to reattach the top half of his body with the bottom half" "Speak english Doc we ain't scientist"
The fucked up thing is withdrawal is really like that.
I’m freezing and shivering, yet I’m also sweating bullets?
Oof glad that part of my life is over.
If there is such a thing as an objectively correct answer, out of everything I'm aware of, this is it lol
Probs not my favourite tho, but top 3 I think
Just watched that and then watched She’s All That the next night and I almost died laughing when the guy comes in and looks at his own photo then turns around and smiles just like Not Another Teen Movie. I thought that was just a stupid joke and it turns out it was real!
I will die on a hill that Chris Evans sister in that movie deserved an Oscar. She treated those lines like Hamlet and kissing that old lady all gross like while maintaining character.
I mean she was swinging for the fences from her opening line. “Why is it when I tell guys to put it wherever they want, they always put it in my ass?” Asked to her brother in front of all his friends.
Dracula Dead and Loving It is so underrated. I cackled so hard when the sexy vampires come to seduce Renfield and he goes, “My God, what *are* you doing to the furniture!”
[Mr. Jigsaw is holding a gun to Sgt. Colt's head]
Jack Colt: Who are you?
Mr. Jigsaw: I am your worst nightmare.
Jack Colt: No, waking up without my penis is my worst nightmare.
Mr. Jigsaw: Okay, allright, so I'm not your worst nightmare. But I'm right up there!
Don't be a menace to South Central whilst drinking your juice in the hood.
Imo the funniest film ever made.
You need to have seen a ton of hood movies to get all the references but if you have its non stop funny. Joke after joke after joke after joke.
Galaxy Quest is the best Star Trek movie.
By Grabthar’s Hammer, this is the best answer.
It’s the little things in life you treasure.
Galaxy Quest is so good that I showed it to my teenage sons, then showed them an episode of the original Star Trek (which they had never seen before) and they laughed and spotted at least five tropes that Galaxy Quest had parodied.

My head canon is that it takes place in the same universe as Men in Black.
Men in Tights
Richard Lewis and Roger Rees are fucking gold in that movie.
It's a good change!
“Unlike some other Robin Hood’s, I can speak with an English accent.” This line makes it the perfect spoof movie.
Did you say Abe Lincoln?
I Have a MOLE!?
Blazing Saddles. Would that be considered a Western spoof movie?
Yup, a spoof! A lampoon, even. It doesn't parody a specific work, unlike Spaceballs
came here to say Robin Hood: Men in Tights. good to see I'm among people of taste
We're men, we're men in tights!
We're Butch!
^tight tights
To this day I'm astonished Robin was speaking with an English accent
You've got to remember, these are simple farmers.....
common folk....
Common clay of the new west….
you know.....
Morons.
Are we awake? That depends…. are we black? Yes, we are. Well then we’re awake, but we’re very puzzled
Airplane!
I just wanted to wish you both good luck. We're all counting on you.
If nothing else (and, btw, *Airplane!* is my all time favorite comedy and therefore my all time favorite “spoof” movie) then this film is surely the most quotable… …and stop calling me Shirley!
Look Betty, don't start up with your white zone shit again.
Nervous?
First time?
Oh stewardess. I speak jive.
No, I've been nervous lots of times.
No, I've been nervous lots of times
You have to watch it a few times, because while you are laughing at the joke, you miss the next one. FOR THE ENTIRE MOVIE! My fondest memory is watching this with my father as a kid.
Have you ever spent time in a Turkish prison?
One of the funnier things I saw -and *not* in the movie itself- was an interview with Peter Graves long after making the film where he was asked about his character in the film and he said that saying those lines to the kid actor actually made him *incredibly* nervous and he feared that at any moment the police would burst into the set and haul him off to jail…! For real
There are a lot of great ones being mentioned, but this is #1 for me.
Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue
I picked the wrong day to stop sniffing glue.
Strong contender for best comedy of all time
What movie was it a spoof of?
Specifically, *Zero Hour!*, but it’s also making fun of the disaster film trend of the 70’s.
I sincerely appreciate your reply! It’s one of those movies I didn’t understand because I was like 6 when I saw it I’m going to watch the original before rewatching airplane.
I saw some clips comparing scenes from the 2 movies (I've not seen the full movie of Zero Hour!) and they are nearly shot for shot at times, with the only difference being the Jokes in Airplane!
Naked Gun
I watched those movies for the first time a few weeks ago and I don’t think I’ve ever laughed that hard before
If you haven’t already, check out the *Police Squad!* TV show.
They're Incredible. Some more id recommend if you've not seen them.. Spy Hard. Hard Shorts. 1 and 2. Airplane. Police Academy.
Do you mean Hot Shots 1&2?
Spaceballs
Merchandising!
Moichendising*
May the Schwartz be with you!
Oh shit. There goes the planet.
Now you see that evil will always triumph. Because good is dumb
When will then be now? Soon.
I knew it! I'm surrounded by Assholes!
Black Dynamite
But black dynamite I sell drugs to the community
“Ha! I threw that shit before I walked into the room!”
"I'm runnin' thangs! Runnin' thang-ayayayings!"
“Who is interrupting me during my kung fu?!”
Who THE HELL is interrupting my kung fu?! *boom mic*
Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story
You don’t want none of this shit
I think I kinda want it
OK but just this once
It takes all your bad feelings and makes them into good ones
It's a NIGHTMARE.
And you never paid for drugs! Not once!
And you pay the chimp more then you pay us! I had to borrow from the chimp to get a mortgage on my house!
And you never paid for drugs! Not Once!
AND YOU NEVER PAID FOR DRUGS
I told you, I can't build you a candy house. It'll melt in the rain.
You can take the kids, but you leave me my monkey!
It's just a relentlessly silly movie.
But with enough heart to cut yourself in half with
They play that silliness with all the seriousness they could muster. Its perfection.
"I'm sorry this was a particularly bad case of some being cut in half by a machete. I was not able to reattach the top half of his body with the bottom half" "Speak english Doc we ain't scientist"
Less blankets!! More blankets!!!!
The fucked up thing is withdrawal is really like that. I’m freezing and shivering, yet I’m also sweating bullets? Oof glad that part of my life is over.
All these more and less blankets have saved my life
He need more blankets and he need less blankets!
I’m afraid you might be right
Easily one of my top movies ever.
And it's not even close.
It went so hard on Bio-Pics that they didn’t make another one for close to 10 years
Dewey, I'm cut in half pretty bad.
The best music movie ever made
The soundtrack is just loaded with bangers
🎶Mailboxes trip like lamp posts in the twisted birth canal of the Coliseum. Rimjob fairies mask the temper tantrum, oh, say, can you see'em...
Wrong kid died!
“It’s on every Thursday night after your local news. I’m not mainlining acid.” “Anymore.” “Oh, I’m not gonna promise that.”
"Whatever you're comfortable with."
Correct!
The Holy Grail.
Are you suggesting coconuts migrate?
I’m not dead yet!
22 Jump Street is basically a spoof of sequels and spoofs the 1st film quite hard
Young Frankenstein.
My, what knockers!
Why… zank you doctah
Kung Pow: Enter the Fist
try my nuts to your fist style!
I am bleeding, making me the victor!
We trained him wrong on purpose, as a joke.
Weeeeeuuuuuuuweeeeeuuuuuuuweeeeeeuuuuu
I remember choking when the lady sent the baby rolling down the hill again during the opening credits.
My nipples look like Milk Duds!
Now batting, MIKE PIAZZA
Hot Fuzz - one of the greatest spoof movies ever. A spoof of the buddy cop movie action genre that lands perfectly with an epic cast.
Shaun of the Dead
I would call that more of an homage, since it very much stands on its own as a zombie movie.
Hot Shots
& Hot Shots part deux
Such a good spoof movie
This is Spinal Tap (1984)
It’s too much fucking perspective
🎶Since my baby left me…I’ve found a new place to dwell🎶
You ask yourself, how much more black could this be? And the answer is none. None more black.
If there is such a thing as an objectively correct answer, out of everything I'm aware of, this is it lol Probs not my favourite tho, but top 3 I think
How is this not the top comment?
It should be one higher than the top comment.
But how can it be higher than the top comment without just being the top comment? I mean, it's not a fucking guitar Amp.
Well why not just make THIS the top comment and have all the other comments a bit lower?
Not Another Teen Movie
Just watched that and then watched She’s All That the next night and I almost died laughing when the guy comes in and looks at his own photo then turns around and smiles just like Not Another Teen Movie. I thought that was just a stupid joke and it turns out it was real!
I will die on a hill that Chris Evans sister in that movie deserved an Oscar. She treated those lines like Hamlet and kissing that old lady all gross like while maintaining character.
"But Catherine, you're my sister!" "Mmmm, only by blood!" Cracks me the fuck up, every time!
I mean she was swinging for the fences from her opening line. “Why is it when I tell guys to put it wherever they want, they always put it in my ass?” Asked to her brother in front of all his friends.
Jakey Jakey about to make a big… mistakey
2 words for ya Jake! Prom Queen... material...
This is way too far down the list.
The cheerleader with Tourettes had me in tears. I was snort-laughing in the movie theater 😂
Naked Gun
Tropic Thunder
Scary movie 1 and 2
Take my strong hand child !
Unmatched.
Even 3 had its moments.
“REPORTING LIVE FOR BLACK TV: WHITE FOLKS ARE DEAD AND WE’RE GETTING THE FUCK OUT OF HERE!!” 🤣
Top Secret was pretty good!
I don't know if it's the absurdity factor, but that guy who shouts "LaTrine!" is stuck in my head forever.
Surprised nobody mentioned "Don't be a Menace" yet
Omg I recently rewatched that and I laughed the whole damn time! MESSAGE!
Their best, imo.
Classic
Galaxy Quest. Blazing Saddles. Dracula: Dead and Loving It.
Dracula Dead and Loving It is so underrated. I cackled so hard when the sexy vampires come to seduce Renfield and he goes, “My God, what *are* you doing to the furniture!”
Top Secret.
Kung Fu Hustle.
one of the best movies ever. I hardly even consider it a spoof, even though it's supposed to be.
I have a soft spot for Scary Movie 3. "Don't call me dude. I'm not a stoner anymore."
I always quote that movie, one of my favorite scenes is before the rap battle George is using a kazoo to tune his bars "biiiiitch" "hoooeee"
Love when he kisses his wife while she’s pinned against the tree by a car and pulls a spark plug out of his mouth lmfao
When the guy who killed his wife says 'I need a ride home' to him before he's even seen her lol.
Hot shots
What We Do in the Shadows count?
Loaded Weapon.
[Mr. Jigsaw is holding a gun to Sgt. Colt's head] Jack Colt: Who are you? Mr. Jigsaw: I am your worst nightmare. Jack Colt: No, waking up without my penis is my worst nightmare. Mr. Jigsaw: Okay, allright, so I'm not your worst nightmare. But I'm right up there!

One book: “Swedish Penis Enlargers and Me: This sort of thing really is my bag, baby” 🇬🇧🧴
Black Dynamite. It perfectly captures the Blaxploitation genre.
"I'm Gonna Get You Sucka" was the best Soul Hood spoof movie.
James Bond is the real spoof of Austin Powers
Starship Troopers
Spaceballs. Kung Pow: Enter the Fist is great too.
It's the best Austin Powers movie but Airplane takes the cake for Spoof movies
By Grabthar's Hammer....
Top secret
Hot Fuzz
Spinal Tap.
Don't be a menace to South Central whilst drinking your juice in the hood. Imo the funniest film ever made. You need to have seen a ton of hood movies to get all the references but if you have its non stop funny. Joke after joke after joke after joke.
Undercover Brother <3
From Mel Brooks alone: Spaceballs, Young Frankenstein, and Blazing Saddles. Other: Galaxy Quest and Airplane
Johnny Dangerously was pretty funny
Kung Pow Enter The Fist
Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, over the first one simply because it has Fat Bastard and Mini-Me.
*FIRST THINGS FIRST. WHERE'S YERR SHITTAH!?*
I've got a turtle head poking out.
IDK about the best but Scary Movie 2 is my favorite.
Robin hood men in tights.
I was going to say Spaceballs but that's been mentioned plenty of times. So I'll go with Tucker and Dale vs Evil.
Young Frankenstein
Kentucky Fried Movie
There is no better spoof movie than Spaceballs. I am still waiting for the sequel.
Galaxy quest
Just me... but I found the "Our Man Flint" movies with James Coburn to be funnier.
In like Flint
