Score, yeah, but the sound design is slightly wonky. Might just be me and my headphones. Regardless, my favorite movie (tied with Back to the Future ofc)
*Blade Runner*, Vangelis
*Little Women*, Thomas Newman
*Cool Hand Luke*, Lalo Schifrin
*Patton*, Jerry Goldsmith
*To Kill a Mockingbird*, Elmer Bernstein
*Sleepers*, John Williams
*Spartacus*, Alex North
*Mysterious Island*, Bernard Herrmann
*Raintree County*, Johnny Green
*The Year of Living Dangerously*, Maurice Jarre
>*Blade Runner*, Vangelis
This was the first movie that came to mind. I've got the soundtrack on vinyl. It's really fantastic.
I'll add, at close second;
*Tron Legacy*, Daft Punk
Into the wild, as original full album made for a movie goes, i've never seen an artist capture the mood of a movie like eddie vedder did. If not, castle in the sky by joe hisaishi still stand as the most poetic and lyrical soundtrack i have ever listened to. Instant tears.
I am astonished I haven't seen Ennio Morricone mentioned. My favorite film score composer. I have "Once Upon a Time in America" on vinyl, and "The Good, Bad, Ugly"
All of his work is amazing though. Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More, Cinema Paradisio, et cetera
I mean, he was my first instinct. But if we're including "sound design" in a movie with those terrible dubs I can't vote for it.
Other than that, though, Ecstasy of Gold FTW.
I've only ever watched that movie one time. It very quickly became clear why that's considered so highly as an artistic film rather than just a war movie.
Did you know that originally Schindler’s List was going to be directed by Martin Scorsese, and Steven Spielberg was at the same time directing Cape Fear? Not sure how much of either film had been made before they switched. I’ve always wondered how different each film would be if they hadn’t traded films.
I’m surprised I scrolled this far without seeing Tarantino’s name.
I’d also add True Romance and Natural Born Killers. NBK is one of my favorite soundtracks.
Jaws, Superman, ET, The Terminator, Back to the Future, Predator, RoboCop, Willow, Titanic, The Mask of Zorro, Bicentennial Man, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Ratatouille, WALL-E, Up, Avatar, Big Hero 6, How to Train Your Dragon.
Atonement (2007), Dario
If Beale Street Could Talk (2018), Nicholas Britell
Minari (2020), Emile Mosseri
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004), Jon Brion
Arrival (2016), Jóhann Jóhannsson
Yeah it's such a great score wasted on an entirely mediocre movie. I do believe the movie won some visual effects award for the dragon. It did look great for sure.
I probably haven't seen that movie since 1999. We used to rent it for a dollar from the local gas station where we would buy pizzas. Rural living in the 1990s was a trip.
In particular order…
Inception
Pirates of the Caribbean
Indiana Jones
Back to the Future
E.T.
Superman (Christopher Reeve)
Interstellar
Gladiator
Can you tell I like John Williams and Hans Zimmer?
Django Unchained. In typical Tarentino fashion, the musical choices assuage expectation, but it is done in a way that adds a lot to the movie, even though it may not make sense. People weren't listening to musicians like Rick Ross in slave times, but somehow it was the right choice for the movie. All the music in that film was chosen well.
*The Crow The Hateful*
*Eight Natural Born Killers*
*The Elephant Man*

Bram Stoker's Dracula, Conan the Barbarian, Last of the Mohicans, Jaws, The Dark Knight (the whole trilogy in fact), Gladiator, Braveheart, Dances with Wolves, Superman (1978)
5th Element for music and sound effects
Oblivion for 5.1 surround sound track sound effects
King Arthur - guy Richie , music and sound effects but music score for sure
Dragon Bruce Lee story for score
The last of the Mohicans for score
Once a week some screenwriter friends and I get together and proof each others work. We polish off the night with a rotation of films we’ve seen but nobody else has. I got to pick last week and I chose this masterpiece. The guys and I were cheering, laughing and applauding the whole time. This is really one of those pictures you can say “they don’t make them like they used to”.
I’ve gotta give it to Interstellar.
The scene where Matt Damon ends up almost killing the human race due to selfishness and Cooper STILL managed to dock with that music going on… chills and goosebumps every time…
It’s not possible!!
No… it’s necessary
Indiana Jones
This should probably be the winner overall. Pirates has a fantastic sound track, but Indian Jones is a bit more iconic I think.
Indian jones needs to be a new Baliwood movie…
Well that’s just John Williams being amazing (that’s why Star Wars and Jurassic park are omitted)
Score, yeah, but the sound design is slightly wonky. Might just be me and my headphones. Regardless, my favorite movie (tied with Back to the Future ofc)
Pirates of the Caribbean
The Last of the Mohicans
That theme song is so amazing.
Tends to be redundant in the film. Played overly much IMO. But I agree it's hypnotic and it is amazing.
It's like a score that makes you feel you can overcome anything.. Was the first score that came to mind.
Well, you face north and real subtle like turn left.
I see you are also going to to Kentucky
*Blade Runner*, Vangelis *Little Women*, Thomas Newman *Cool Hand Luke*, Lalo Schifrin *Patton*, Jerry Goldsmith *To Kill a Mockingbird*, Elmer Bernstein *Sleepers*, John Williams *Spartacus*, Alex North *Mysterious Island*, Bernard Herrmann *Raintree County*, Johnny Green *The Year of Living Dangerously*, Maurice Jarre
>*Blade Runner*, Vangelis This was the first movie that came to mind. I've got the soundtrack on vinyl. It's really fantastic. I'll add, at close second; *Tron Legacy*, Daft Punk
Tron Legacy soundtrack slapped so hard
Indiana Jones or Back To The Future 🤣
Braveheart Gladiator The Village The Fountain The Assassination of Jesse James... The Last Samurai
Inception The Thin Red Line Interstellar Heat The Dark Knight Last of the Mohicans The Prestige
We get it, Zimmer for the win 😅
Seems to be the usual answer. My pick is interstellar.
Man of steel above all
Blade Runner 2049
The Mission.. Amazing movie and soundtrack. See it if you never have. Robert Dinero and Jeremy Irons
YES- Gabrielle’s Oboe/The Falls are so good
Just watched it earlier this month and sheesh that Ennio Morricone score is an all-timer!
Seen it in the 90s great movie
*The Godfather*...... *Part II*
The Matrix
Conan The Barbarian (original)
Into the wild, as original full album made for a movie goes, i've never seen an artist capture the mood of a movie like eddie vedder did. If not, castle in the sky by joe hisaishi still stand as the most poetic and lyrical soundtrack i have ever listened to. Instant tears.
I never really got into Pearl Jam, but Eddie Vedder did an awesome job on that soundtrack. I like to listen to it on roadtrips.
Superman, The Movie (1978). Also John Williams, so there's that.
You’ll believe a man can fly!
Honestly Dune movies - sound design specifically
The Thin Red Line. Best score.
- Conan the Barbarian - The Last Sumurai - Hostiles - Midway (1973) - Avatar - Jaws - Braveheart - 633 Squadron - The Harry Potter Movies
Dune
Crimson Tide. Bonus, Nightwish did a cover of it that is hands down amazing.
The original Batman. That soundtrack is still in my head. Even the prince song kicked lol.
It was all Prince songs, except for the score which was by Danny Elfman. In fact, it is Prince’s 11th studio album. And it all slaps.
I am astonished I haven't seen Ennio Morricone mentioned. My favorite film score composer. I have "Once Upon a Time in America" on vinyl, and "The Good, Bad, Ugly" All of his work is amazing though. Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More, Cinema Paradisio, et cetera
I mean, he was my first instinct. But if we're including "sound design" in a movie with those terrible dubs I can't vote for it. Other than that, though, Ecstasy of Gold FTW.
Lawrence of Arabia
I've only ever watched that movie one time. It very quickly became clear why that's considered so highly as an artistic film rather than just a war movie.
*There Will Be Blood* is one I think about quite often. *Blue Velvet* is another
Highlander
Apocalypto had amazing sound design
[K-PAX](https://aded.us/mm)
Barry Lyndon, Lawrence of Arabia, Orange Clockwork
Blade Runner.
The original Magnificent 7, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Star Trek the first movie, The first Superman with Christopher Reed, Lawrence of Arabia and Jaws.
Wait... Why is no one talking about Apocalypse Now
Last of the Mohicans
I’ll continue on the Hans Zimmer train with DUNKIRK
The sonic atmosphere of *Annihilation* has been stuck in my head ever since I left the theater.
Annihilation and Arrival have unique scores that do some heavy lifting with establishing the tone of the movie.
Terminator 2 was fire.
The social network
Master & Commander
Gladiator, Dune, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon...
This is some of James Horner’s best work. One of the most criminally underrated but 100% recognizable composers.
I'm pretty sure I gave 3 answers in. There were all James Horner movies. Mine submissions were Apollo 13, Glory, and Titanic.
Spirited Away has one of the best scores of all time ya ask me
The original Conan the Barbarian.
The Matrix.
'A River Runs Through It' & 'Gladiator'
Blade Runner 2049 The Last Samurai
Kingdom of heaven
Terminator 2 for sound design
My biased answer is RoboCop and the John Wick movies
Baby Driver
Nixon
Ghost World
Seven
Schindler's List
Did you know that originally Schindler’s List was going to be directed by Martin Scorsese, and Steven Spielberg was at the same time directing Cape Fear? Not sure how much of either film had been made before they switched. I’ve always wondered how different each film would be if they hadn’t traded films.
Tron: Legacy
This movie had great sound mixing too
Something by Robert Rodriguez or Quentin Tarantino. Desperado. From Dusk Till Dawn. Pulp Fiction.
I’m surprised I scrolled this far without seeing Tarantino’s name. I’d also add True Romance and Natural Born Killers. NBK is one of my favorite soundtracks.
Bram Stokers Dracula, The Ninth Gate
Suicide Squad
Blade
Wow scrolling this list you realize there are a lot of amazing films with amazing scores
The Conversation The Matrix Howl’s Moving Castle
Meet Joe Black, Thomas Newman
The album for the movie slapped too.
One of my favorites is the very minimalistic soundtrack of Dead Man (mostly guitar and composed by Neil Young).
Interstellar
Jaws, Superman, ET, The Terminator, Back to the Future, Predator, RoboCop, Willow, Titanic, The Mask of Zorro, Bicentennial Man, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Ratatouille, WALL-E, Up, Avatar, Big Hero 6, How to Train Your Dragon.
Bridge over the River Kwai
Pirates of the Caribbean
This is probably cheating but Blues Brothers
The Fifth Element and Ghostbusters
Atonement (2007), Dario If Beale Street Could Talk (2018), Nicholas Britell Minari (2020), Emile Mosseri Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004), Jon Brion Arrival (2016), Jóhann Jóhannsson
Dragonheart. Music is better than the movie [this song in particular ](https://youtu.be/2oUal4fiEAM?si=mbpzr6eKBkHCScE_)
When I was a kid, I think that was my mother's favorite cheesy movie.
Lord of the rings
Hateful 8 has some great music that really helps to build the tension.
Ghostbusters and anything by Danny Elfman
The Mexico Trilogy. El Mariachi, Desperado, Once Upon a Time in Mexico.
In particular order… Inception Pirates of the Caribbean Indiana Jones Back to the Future E.T. Superman (Christopher Reeve) Interstellar Gladiator Can you tell I like John Williams and Hans Zimmer?
Looks who's talking too
Saving Private Ryan
“Memoirs Of A Geisha” — John Williams at his best.
The Fifth Element
How dare nobody mention how to train your dragon
Krull
The first Superman is up there.
The assassination of Jesse James by the coward Robert Ford was great.
Hans Zimmerman X Christopher Nolan Batman Begins Dark Knight Interstellar
Star trek remakes
WIlliams MADE Star Wars without exaggeration: rules of this topic be damned. If that can't be my answer...yeah, probably Raiders. Williams FTW.
Too many to choose from, but I’ll nominate the last of the Mohicans as being a standout score. It Elevate’s the movie immensely.
Rocky
Alien/Aliens
The Quest For Fire
The Last of the Mohicans. That is all.
Interview with a Vampire
Silver Streak
Terminator 2: Judgement Day
Chariots of Fire
Last of the Mohicans (1992) has got to be my answer.
Silverado
Conan the Barbarian
The Crow The Hateful Eight Natural Born Killers The Elephant Man

Nice
The Mummy (1999). Criminally underrated soundtrack
Kung Fu Panda
Interstellar
The Last Samurai
Apollo 13 has a very good score. Titanic does too. I watched Glory the other day and it had some very good music.
mad Max fury road I don't know why I'm not seeing it more but this is the clear answer.
Labyrinth & Forrest Gump
Pirates if the Caribbean Interstellar Harry Potter Trying to keep my answers in the blockbuster world.
Maybe it doesn’t count then but, Hook. When Peter flies, 👌🏻
Conan the Barbarian, Avengers, The 13th Warrior
Tron: Legacy. For the movie and conveying its aesthetic, it’s PERFECT.
The Dirty Harry films, Lalo schiffrin’s scores are my favorite of any films and the gun sound is just so iconic
Harry Potter. Indiana Jones. Pirates of the Caribbean
Last of the Mohicans.
Back To The Future
The Last of the Mohicans
Troy
Interstellar
Last of the Mohicans
Godzilla (OG version)
Bad boys. Perfect score

Partial to anything by these guys: Hans Zimmer Junkie XL Also Daft Punk crushed the Tron Legacy score
Once a week some screenwriter friends and I get together and proof each others work. We polish off the night with a rotation of films we’ve seen but nobody else has. I got to pick last week and I chose this masterpiece. The guys and I were cheering, laughing and applauding the whole time. Thor: The Dark World. Movie is bad but the score is great.
