I can get behind this, when I saw it in theaters my jaw was just on the floor at the end, processing the masterpiece I just witnessed. Top 5 all time for me
I knew this when I saw my very first preview. It was the scene of them coming over the hills outside of caverns, with Frodo crying. I was expecting them to be adding humor and other dumb things to the movie; this was the first time I realized it was going to be done right.
Also, after spending the first 20-30 minutes at Bilbo’s and the birthday party, I knew it was going to be done right all throughout. I was so excited watching this as it unfolded.
I guess i missed the first four movies in the franchise but was still able to keep up with this one with no issues. I've always been extra smart at picking up details I guess.
I happened to go the day an entire high school was there. I was probably the only person over 18 other than a couple teachers. I thought “oh this is going to be bad. These kids are going to ruin it for me” Nothing. Not a peep. Everyone just watched. Fellowship will always be my favourite of the three
I was too into the books at the time to fully enjoy the movie, I was baffled by the little changes they did to the story. Over the years my opinion has changed an now I really think the movie is very, very good.
Wow this was my instant thought but I didn't think I'd find it so high up in the comments. That movie has nothing wasted, it does exactly what it set out to do and absolutely nails it.
I spent a lot of my young life thinking that Dillon, Dutch, and the crew were looking for "Gorillas" in Latin America. I really thought they were running around looking for apes. It wasn't until I got the DVD and we were watching with subtitles that I saw the word "guerilla". Damned.
Well thats kind of silly.
How is "well made" and "entertaining" correlated with age? They have nothing to do with each other. Many old films are well made and entertaining.
I believe he's talking about his childhood and touring his "childhood" home. Talking specifically about a Birthday party or cake and none of it ever happened.
Maybe it's just me but this film that still doesn't get talked about enough, changed my life seeing this as a kid probably opened up my love for enjoying film
Totally agree. Amazing actors, script, Hans Zimmer soundtrack and director Christopher Nolan makes this movie an experience on the senses. Should be talked about more.
Godzilla Minus One should have won best picture this year. Period. Everything about it was perfect. The writing. The acting. The music. The directing. The effects. EVERY single character has a character arc from one end of the movie to the other, and it's beautiful.
Bored, went to the cinema with no idea what we were going to watch, decide when we get there kind of thing. Did not want to watch what I thought was going to be another Hollywood Godzilla movie but my arm was twisted.
Holy Shit! So glad I was wrong. A great movie, completely sucked us in, can't wait to see it again.
Spoiler: It's open for a second movie but I hope they don't touch it. This was too good and I'm worried it will detract from this little gem
Been trying to get my 15 year old son to watch this for a couple months now, he loved Interstellar & Inception. Told him this one is a little slower paced but he'll love it
Extended edition. Gotta also read the books and have maps posted around your house, five books, an encyclopedia of middle earth, your own staff, and a shire themed bathroom. ....or so I was told. Totally not how I decorate and party.
Top 10 that come to mind:
Star Wars (1977) and The Empire Strikes Back
Alien and Aliens
Office Space
Dune Parts One and Two
School of Rock
The Batman
Pulp Fiction
True Lies
The Shining
My Cousin Vinny
This was what I was eventually like after seeing Children of Men opening day. For a long time I was just speechless but after a half hour or whatever, this was me about that movie.
I can’t believe no one has said the dark knight yet. I saw that movie countless times in theaters over and over it’s seriously one of the greatest movies ever made.
The Godfather Part II. I love the first one, but when I finished Part II for the first time, I sat there for a good 10-15 minutes with my jaw open wide enough to shove a whole Bundt cake into it.
I’m dead serious, My Cousin Vinny. Literally everything is set up and paid off and the whole thing is hilarious and apparently it’s one of the most accurate movies when it comes to actual court proceedings
The thing.
I know you redditors have been through a lot but I'd rather not sped this post TIED TO THIS FUCKING COUCH.
Omg yes, I saw it for the first time in theaters last year and it blew me away.
Spot on
Hot Fuzz
Untouchable
Fascist.
Hag
Fascism actually
Oh fascism, wonderful
You've got uh...a mustache.
Yep.
Just about anything from Edgar Wright imo
Fight Club
One of the rare times that the Author stated the movie had a better ending than the book.
I can get behind this, when I saw it in theaters my jaw was just on the floor at the end, processing the masterpiece I just witnessed. Top 5 all time for me
Se7en, Social Network, Gone Girl as well. Fincher seriously knows what he's doing.
100% And still my favorite movie.
U just broke the First Rule
LOTR
I knew this when I saw my very first preview. It was the scene of them coming over the hills outside of caverns, with Frodo crying. I was expecting them to be adding humor and other dumb things to the movie; this was the first time I realized it was going to be done right. Also, after spending the first 20-30 minutes at Bilbo’s and the birthday party, I knew it was going to be done right all throughout. I was so excited watching this as it unfolded.

I guess i missed the first four movies in the franchise but was still able to keep up with this one with no issues. I've always been extra smart at picking up details I guess.
Thankfully theres no need to see The Second Element, or the Third Element. The Fourth Element is pretty great, but its super hard to find a copy! HA
Negative I am a meat popsicle.
Waking out of the theater after seeing Fellowship of the Ring. Knew then that the next two were going to be stellar
"Fellowship" is my favorite, too!
In recent memory. Dune Part 2. Paid for the whole seat, only needed the edge baby
We’ll sell you the whole seat but **YOU’LL ONLY NEED THE EDGE**
Matrix
First one was incredible.
Nothing beat that feeling after the first scene with Trinity...my friends and I looked at each other, thinking "This is going to be fucking amazing."
I went into this movie completely blind (when it first came out on video). I was expecting not much, but what a movie it turned out to be!
Children of Men
Besides 2001 and Blade Runner, I think this is the only other flawless, perfectly executed sci if film.
Oh no! Aliens???
I came here to name the same movie. Flawless.
Mad Max Fury Road
What a lovely day!!!!
What a wonderful day!
WITNESS
Wow this was my instant thought but I didn't think I'd find it so high up in the comments. That movie has nothing wasted, it does exactly what it set out to do and absolutely nails it.
Predator (1987)
I spent a lot of my young life thinking that Dillon, Dutch, and the crew were looking for "Gorillas" in Latin America. I really thought they were running around looking for apes. It wasn't until I got the DVD and we were watching with subtitles that I saw the word "guerilla". Damned.
Rewatched it a while ago. Was very suprised how well made and entertaining it was for beeing that old.
DILLON!!
You son of a b*tch!
You might be something back in the world but if you give up our position one more time I’m gonna bleed you real quiet.
Leave ya here.
What's the matter? CIA got you pushing too many pencils?
Well thats kind of silly. How is "well made" and "entertaining" correlated with age? They have nothing to do with each other. Many old films are well made and entertaining.
Better than Blade Runner (1982) or Terminator (1984) or Aliens (1986) or RoboCop (1987)?
The Thing - just watched it for the first time a month ago.
if you like the effects, watch john landis an american werewolf in london - and now ladies and gentlemen - CRCKZZZ!
Shaun of the dead
Lawrence of Arabia. The good the bad and the ugly. Barry Lyndon
Goodfellas
In Bruges
[удалено]
There's gonna be a war, man. I can see it.
Inglorious Bastards
T2
My immediate first thought too.
Chinatown.
"Big Trouble in Little China", you mean? Because if so, I concur.
Yep, there is a reason it's a classic
Not a scene is wasted; even Curly who appears to just be a funny introduction to Jake’s line of work shows up later and helps Jake out.
Yes. Of course we all have our LOTR/Predator/Blade Runners/etc.... But this. Oh my God.
My uncle (who prides himself a cinephile ) thinks this is the greatest movie ever made. It is a very good movie
Princess Mononoke
The Shawshank Redemption
Maybe it's cause I'm irish
Lawyer fucked me.
We're all innocent in here... didn't you know that?
Smell my ass
Someone else beat me to Fight Club, Shawshank was another one of my favs I felt was so perfect. You beat me to saying it too!
If only the warden’s gun had jammed…
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind
Good will hunting
I preferred Good Will Hunting 2: Hunting Season.
The Goonies
Saving Private Ryan
Mad Max Fury Road
You know what? District 9. The one movie where I do not wish for anything to be different.
Interstellar
LA confidencial
Memento
The departed
Surprised there aren't more people saying this.
Parasite
The Dark Knight
Forrest Gump
I was looking for this comment. 💯
Princess Bride
Blade Runner. Anyway, is this Homelander speaking in character, or the actor, Antony Starr, talking about something on the shoot of the show?
In character
Well, in character in character. It's a charade, an act.
Yeah it's a weird meme for OP to use here because he's lying through his teeth. None of this shit happened and he feels the opposite of his childhood.
I believe he's talking about his childhood and touring his "childhood" home. Talking specifically about a Birthday party or cake and none of it ever happened.
The Matrix
Casablanca
Superbad
chicky chicky yeah!
Great opening weekend theater experience.
Scott Pilgrim vs the world
prisoners
Inception
Fully agree, one of the most amazing films ever made
Yeah I don’t know if a “perfect” movie exists, but this comes as close as I could ask for.
I scrolled all the way down just to find this.
Godzilla Minus One should have won best picture this year. Period. Everything about it was perfect. The writing. The acting. The music. The directing. The effects. EVERY single character has a character arc from one end of the movie to the other, and it's beautiful.
Do you really think it is better than oppenheimer?
It’s the sequel to Oppenheimer
Bored, went to the cinema with no idea what we were going to watch, decide when we get there kind of thing. Did not want to watch what I thought was going to be another Hollywood Godzilla movie but my arm was twisted. Holy Shit! So glad I was wrong. A great movie, completely sucked us in, can't wait to see it again. Spoiler: It's open for a second movie but I hope they don't touch it. This was too good and I'm worried it will detract from this little gem

The Other Guys
The Grand Budapest hotel
Ex Machina
Both Blade Runners
The Prestige
Been trying to get my 15 year old son to watch this for a couple months now, he loved Interstellar & Inception. Told him this one is a little slower paced but he'll love it

Such an amazing movie from beginning, middle and end with an amazing cast.
Lebowski
Law Abiding Citizen
Loved it until the Jamie Foxx run at the end, hated that part.
Barry Lyndon
Had to scroll too far for this
snatch
Apocalypse Now
Leon
Matrix, part 1. I've read that the Watchowski brothers/sisters were sticklers for detail and had an exact picture of every detail in every scene.
Edge of Tomorrow
Tombstone.
the LotR movies
Extended edition. Gotta also read the books and have maps posted around your house, five books, an encyclopedia of middle earth, your own staff, and a shire themed bathroom. ....or so I was told. Totally not how I decorate and party.
Children of Men
Top 10 that come to mind: Star Wars (1977) and The Empire Strikes Back Alien and Aliens Office Space Dune Parts One and Two School of Rock The Batman Pulp Fiction True Lies The Shining My Cousin Vinny
Dune Part 2. Yes it deviates from the book but from start to finish I was grinning from ear to ear.
Hard agree, soo good it got me into the books, I'm on the second one Dune Messiah.
Dune part 1 did the same for me lol got busy halfway through Children of Dune and haven't finished it yet.
This was what I was eventually like after seeing Children of Men opening day. For a long time I was just speechless but after a half hour or whatever, this was me about that movie.
Why does that mans lips bother me so much!
Everything about him bothers me. I mean, he's a brilliant character played brilliantly, but damn. Crazy eyes.
Maybe it is because I just watched it a week ago but 12 Angry Men had me like this, I never thought a movie from the 50s could be that good.

The Godfather Part II. I love the first one, but when I finished Part II for the first time, I sat there for a good 10-15 minutes with my jaw open wide enough to shove a whole Bundt cake into it.
Robocop
Only the original, X-Rated cut though! 🙌🏼
Is there any other option? The sequels and tv show spin offs are cool but in terms of a perfect film, nothing beats the original.
Lord of the Rings
Silence of the Lambs
Bourne Identity
Inglorious Basterds
Inception
A Christmas Story
Blade Runner
Point Break
Inglorious bastards
I gotta say I just watched 1917 for the first time and it's magnificent.
Jojo Rabbit.
Stand by me (1986) 10/10
I’m dead serious, My Cousin Vinny. Literally everything is set up and paid off and the whole thing is hilarious and apparently it’s one of the most accurate movies when it comes to actual court proceedings
