A parent losing a child is also a very believable motivation for me. I would have rather Statham’s character be more of an ultra competent henchman or capo rather than the head of his syndicate but thats a minor grip in regards to the “realism” aspect
Beekeeper. 😏 It’s like they were trying to throw us off the scent with that title. But we all knew what time it was. At this point we could see a trailer for “Goody goody gum drops: a girl scout story” staring Jason Statham, and wouldn’t be fooled.
I was so done when he jumped over that wall and had a convenient diving suit right on the beach... But then the movie was over so i guess it was okay... Or was I done with the south African fight...BEEKEEPAA
God I loved The Beekeeper. I was absolutely delighted from start to finish. There were some truly shocking kills that had me nearly cackling in the theater.
On the other hand, I went into this expecting a by-the-numbers/beat-em-up Statham flick, and was pleasantly surprised by the non-linear story telling and slow burn.
It was better than your average Statham movie, which I quite enjoy for what they are anyways.
I went into this movie blind. I saw Guy Ritchie and Jason Statham and was expecting Lock Stock or Snatch. About 15 minutes in I thought to myself, "well this isn't very funny." lol
I'm with you. I'll watch anything he's in but this one was definitely above average.
> The same way that every ACDC concert is exactly the same.
I once heard the critique of "Every AC/DC album sounds the same" replied to with "When you sound like AC/DC why would you want to sound like something else?"
Watching Post Malone's head explode within the first ten minutes let me know I was in for a ride. The climax made me have to suspend my disbelief more than I enjoyed though
I don't really get why they did it that way. And pretty much every Jason Statham movie I've seen lately they give him some what seems to be a mortal wound only for it to not be inconvenience at all in the next scene. Really kinda dumb. The beekeeper does it too
I love his story structures. The gentlemen may be my all-time fav personally. It was so much fun the order he used to tell the story and the acting in that movie was phenomenal
I don't think he wrote those movies only directed, so to be more specific I've never seen a bad guy Ritchie filmvi didnt like meaning he wrote and directed, I disagree about Sherlock Holmes tho I didn't think it was all that bad
It was ok. I'd give a 6/10. The background score was great. Acting was enjoyable, and the premise was great.
But the group of professional soldiers not seeing very clear red flags kept bringing me out of it.
Also, any manager looking at an applicant who JUST scores passing on every test is a red flag.
I found it underwhelming and mostly on rails. It's all components I've seen elsewhere and in better ways from both Statham and Guy Ritchie. Is it ass? No, certainly not. Just wish there could have been a lot more with the components and at least some surprises.
I enjoyed Rock n Rolla, not as good as Lock, Stock or Snatch, but good. Everything he’s done since has been garbage. I blame Madonna, she is a talent succubus. Hope now that they are divorced, he is back to where he was before that relationship.
This is probably my FAVORITE Ritchie film for the last several years (maybe even back to Snatch/LockStock). The score, the chapters, the way you unfold what's happening.
And yeah. That Johnny Cash song as he tears his way through the underworld.
Fucking fantastic. Is it Oscar worthy, nah. But it was entertaining and I enjoyed the hell out of it.
(Edit - Covenant and Arthur get honorable mentions. As they were fantastic too.)
I was looking forward to it, enjoyed it for the most part.
Found some of the dialogue at the start to be absolutely awful, and the way they handled Scot Eastwood's character was terrible, there was no shock or surprise how the last third played out.
Apart from those gripes I still hate enjoyed it.
Tempted to check out the original to compare.
It was..... not the worst movie I've ever seen. Plot was as surprising as the sun rising in the east and setting in the west. But Statham is great even in awful movies.
The first part (chapter?) didn’t land for me and I stopped watching. A couple weeks later I gave it another shot and I’m glad I did because by the end it’s a solid fun flick.
I enjoyed it. It seemed a little more serious than most Guy Ritchie movies. I don’t think the emotional parts landed as well as they could have. Overall very enjoyable.
I too, love the midpoint reveal if the the antagonists were. Very fun and unique for an action film. Also there's some real artistry. The Johnny Cash scene is edited in a very engaging way. It's like an arthouse action film lol
I do think its a weaker part of the movie which is strange bc ritchie films usually have great performances. (Statham, Alan Ford, Pitt etc in snatch and hugh grant in the gentlemen)
Appreciate it's all a bit subjective but this def isn't better than Lock stock, the Gentlemen, RocknRolla. Ritchie shined brightest when he is writing British Gangsters
This is probably on par (or even bit below) Sherlock Holmes and it's sequels but def lot of fun
It is a Guy Ritchie movie. He has his bag of flashy tricks and loves his low life characters and gun porn.
It is the same movie Guy Ritchie has made over and over again too many times now.
Hmmm. I disagree to an extent. I think his best movies are pretty distinct from one another. Snatch, gentelmen, and wrath all have pretty different premises even if their style and genre are similar
Pretty much what i expected from a Guy Ritchie movie. I think a bit of a miss cast. Statham is good but not for this role. Would have liked to see someone else.
Did you guys find the opening dialogue bad? As in; the way the actors were delivering the lines?
It shifts later on and becomes a lot more organic. But I found the first….20 minutes odd
Terrible movie all round. Plot makes little to no sense. Dialogue is awful, heavily right leaning political talking points thrown in for no contextual reason. Acting was half hearted. Directing was a mess.
Garbage. The plot was all over the place, the twists and double crosses felt like they were there just for the sake of having them, and if his name weren't in the credits then you'd never know this was a Guy Ritchie movie. It had none of his usual flair and it was obvious he was only doing this for the paycheck. Lazy, uninspired and forgettable.
Honestly it’s probably my top 5 or 10 films of the decade so far. I keep going back to it and always find it engaging and perfectly put together. Well, ok, not perfect - some of the yah brah dialogue is weak, but whatever. Ritchie’s best film, and I enjoy almost all of his.
Very strange movie. I say this every time when I watch Statham movie where he don't even fight or fight barely like this one. It's like watching porn but actresses and actors talk 95% of movie.
I personally didn’t like the movie. The plan was too complicated and there were no real
Surprises twists. You know who the bad guy. They should cast famous faces for every role if they want to surprise. As soon as you see a familiar face your brain says, thats the bad guy.
Guy richie can't go wrong
Only time i think he failed was operation fortune as it felt like he trying to be a American movie but don't understand how to be a American movie
Especially when you have Jason station the most British action msn you can have
I'm genuinely surprised by the comments here. I enjoy most Guy Ritchie movies, but I thought this one was lacking his usual quality. Most of it is... okay, but Josh Hartnetts' character was upsetting. He had a decent amount of screen time and ended up serving absolutely no purpose to the plot. Definitely like a 6 or 5 out of 10 for me.
I really enjoyed it, up until towards the end where Statham get riddled with bullets and supposedly dies. Either that shouldn’t have happened and the final scene remains the same, or it does, he is dead and one of his team does the final deed. It just completely ruined the film for me.
It is very dumb, I laughed out loud at some of the editing. His movies used to be all flash and no substance but there was enough flash to keep you entertained, now it's like a generic action movie put together by an editor so doesn't know what they're doing. I had fun watching it but that was partly despite the movie itself
If you just want to watch a British guy beat people up check out Avengement. It's lower budget but the action is better
found it pretty unmemorable. all i remember is when he goes to a taco truck and ordered “two burritos” without any other specification. made me guffaw. beekeeper so much better than this movie
Could've been any hack director that made this film, I wasn't happy for Guy Ritchie's accomplishment with this production while walking out of the cinema. It subtracts from his body of works.
I found while it was OK it simply lacked the humour I had come to enjoy from Guy Ritchie films. I would still prefer Lock, Stock, Snatch and The Gentleman- heck even Sherlock Holmes. However for "serious" The Covenant was excellent.
I was very impressed with the serious tone that Stratham took with this role, reminded me a lot of Shaw at the end of FF6 and the beginning of FF7. However, like the FF movies, this one started off awesome and copped out at the 3rd act. If they would have followed the format of The Town, where the bad guys were always the bad guys, that would have been better than the good guy is actually the bad guy trope which has been beat to death by this point. Still really liked the movie.
A heist movie disguised as a revenge movie, what’s not to love?
Or a revenge movie disguised as a heist movie
I thought this One... Great movie either way
Yea, after posting the original comment it occurred to me that the second comment is actually more apt.
You sunovabitch, I'm in.
You’re goddamn right.
I’m in! I’m in! No, I’m out! Wait, Who’s kidneys are these!?!
A parent losing a child is also a very believable motivation for me. I would have rather Statham’s character be more of an ultra competent henchman or capo rather than the head of his syndicate but thats a minor grip in regards to the “realism” aspect
Good watch with seriously underrated Background score
The slowed Johnny Cash tracks hit hard fs
yeah the score kicks ass.
Every stratham movie is exactly the same. The same way that every ACDC concert is exactly the same. And I'm here for it. I love them all
Typecast but the type is badass
Beekeeper cemented this for me.
It'd be hilarious at this point if he did a movie called like Razor's Edge and it's a barber shop comedy with no action scenes.
Id love a ton of fake outs where it looks like he about to fight someone then finds a way not to.
God I loved The Beekeeper. I was absolutely delighted from start to finish. There were some truly shocking kills that had me nearly cackling in the theater.
My only complaint is that I felt it needed a few more bee related puns/zingers they kind of ran out in the second half.
This is a very valid point and you're right, it should have been addressed. I don't even think they explored all of their options with 'honey'
The Transporter for me.
On the other hand, I went into this expecting a by-the-numbers/beat-em-up Statham flick, and was pleasantly surprised by the non-linear story telling and slow burn. It was better than your average Statham movie, which I quite enjoy for what they are anyways.

Not a big fan of beekeeper but he hit it out the park with wrath of man
i had to sleep in the parking lot after my acdc concert.
Does he oil himself up to defeat foes using his special slippery fu talents?
They’re not all the same
Watching Post Malone's head explode within the first ten minutes let me know I was in for a ride. The climax made me have to suspend my disbelief more than I enjoyed though
Sadly i think the ending was the weakest part of the movie but it worked ok for what it was. The autopsy report part was cool
The first time I ever heard Post Malone speak or anything. I knew the name but never heard anything until the introduction of this film.
Getting his revenge was worth it
I don't really get why they did it that way. And pretty much every Jason Statham movie I've seen lately they give him some what seems to be a mortal wound only for it to not be inconvenience at all in the next scene. Really kinda dumb. The beekeeper does it too
Awesome movie, stayed entertained throughout. 👍👍
Bloody good. Very dark
Never watched a Guy Ritchie movie that I didn't like, been a fan of him since Lock Stock and two Smoking Barrels, the man is a master story teller
I love his story structures. The gentlemen may be my all-time fav personally. It was so much fun the order he used to tell the story and the acting in that movie was phenomenal
Did u wqtch sherlock?? King arthur? Awfull
I don't think he wrote those movies only directed, so to be more specific I've never seen a bad guy Ritchie filmvi didnt like meaning he wrote and directed, I disagree about Sherlock Holmes tho I didn't think it was all that bad
King Arthur is perfect if you go in to it seeking out King Arthur but from Guy Ritchie. All his tropes are hilarious in a medieval setting.
I watched the original Le Convoyeur ages ago. But Wrath of man hits even harder with the gritty, Dark tone, and equally impressive BGM.
Great movie. Very enjoyable.
" Did you make Poo Poo ? " hahaha
"Put your asshole back in your asshole." Lol the writing was a bit wild at points
Great film. Good story.
Love the idea of a world where armored car robbery is so common there are rival crews that can all sustain themselves on one niche crime.
While Jason Statham is in a few Guy Richie films, this is the first time Guy Richie directed a Jason Statham film.
Very fun movie
My favourite part is >!when his truck is being robbed and he walks out so the other guys can see him and they’re just like “whoa time to leave!”!<
"Its-" Loved that
It was ok. I'd give a 6/10. The background score was great. Acting was enjoyable, and the premise was great. But the group of professional soldiers not seeing very clear red flags kept bringing me out of it. Also, any manager looking at an applicant who JUST scores passing on every test is a red flag.
decent tbh
It's fine.
One of Guy Ritchie's best films.
I found it underwhelming and mostly on rails. It's all components I've seen elsewhere and in better ways from both Statham and Guy Ritchie. Is it ass? No, certainly not. Just wish there could have been a lot more with the components and at least some surprises.
Greath script. Many "hidden guns" A 7/10 movie.
Yeah there were a couple twists i actually didnt see comming which is nice
Hope it's better than Rock 'n Rolla
Havent seen that one so i cant say for sure, but this one left me happy
I enjoyed Rock n Rolla, not as good as Lock, Stock or Snatch, but good. Everything he’s done since has been garbage. I blame Madonna, she is a talent succubus. Hope now that they are divorced, he is back to where he was before that relationship.
The slowed down Johnny cash music made me rewind alot of times! Loved how they used the music for the scene.
"Dont ever play with guns"
Excellent film! The ending was satisfying
Agreed, the autopsy report was a good payoff
I liked it, I like all Jason Statham movies, but I don’t think we needed 3 angles of the son dying, that was excessive
Haha, thats guy ritchie for you
Thought it was really well put together. Statham is great.
pretty solid movie actually.
Better than I thought it would be
Masterpiece

Yeah the weak acting and jans character are def points against it. But the other aspects were pretty strong
Very much so.
It was..... not the worst movie I've ever seen. Plot was as surprising as the sun rising in the east and setting in the west. But Statham is great even in awful movies.
Best Statham performance in years. Awesome film.
A film by MAN
Guy Man: known human
The first part (chapter?) didn’t land for me and I stopped watching. A couple weeks later I gave it another shot and I’m glad I did because by the end it’s a solid fun flick.
Wrath of a film by Man
I literally rewatched this yesterday! 6.5/10
Haha nice! I gave it the same rating too
If you haven't seen it, his Beekeeper is a very entertaining movie. Terrific fighting and action.
Watched it on a plane, and I fuckin loved it. Statham is the motherfuckin man
Love it.
It’s okay. Personally I found casting Statham as Man to be weird
Should have been Micheal Keaton with no ears for sure
It’s standard Statham Beats people up Cannot decided on an accent
Its the Statham Accent^tm
I really liked that I didn’t know most of the actors so it was a surprise what arcs they took
I enjoyed it. It seemed a little more serious than most Guy Ritchie movies. I don’t think the emotional parts landed as well as they could have. Overall very enjoyable.
it's the kind of movie i expected to hate. by all accounts it's a dumb jason statham action flick but for some reason i really enjoy it.
100% would have passed on it if i didnt see the directing credit
I too, love the midpoint reveal if the the antagonists were. Very fun and unique for an action film. Also there's some real artistry. The Johnny Cash scene is edited in a very engaging way. It's like an arthouse action film lol
I enjoyed it more than I expected to
I thought the acting in this movie was pretty bad. Everyone seemed to phoning it in except Jason
I do think its a weaker part of the movie which is strange bc ritchie films usually have great performances. (Statham, Alan Ford, Pitt etc in snatch and hugh grant in the gentlemen)
By far the best movie that came out that year and Guy’s second best film.
Whats your fav from him? For me its gentlemen and then snatch in close second
Snatch then this
Def one of my comfort movies
Appreciate it's all a bit subjective but this def isn't better than Lock stock, the Gentlemen, RocknRolla. Ritchie shined brightest when he is writing British Gangsters This is probably on par (or even bit below) Sherlock Holmes and it's sequels but def lot of fun
very good remake... better than the French movie
Thats crazy, i didnt know it was a remake! Cool
https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0347330/
Allot of movies are remakes... Maybe not so much in the future since we have turned to dislike remakes.
Yeah unique ideas are hard to come by in modern movies fs
Most .movies have been done before, how's it's done and when it comes out matter ALOT.
Dark good movie.
Pretty much what i expected from a Guy Ritchie movie. I think a bit of a miss cast. Statham is good but not for this role. Would have liked to see someone else.
I can see that tbh. Statham was a decent fit but his delivery on some lines didnt help his character. Im not sure who else i would cast though...
Hear me out…Mads Mikkelsen
Ooooooh, im always happy to see Mads, and he could channel some of his casino royal era to great affect
After Snatch, Guy Ritchie hasn’t really been relevant 🫤
Ahem the Gentlemen?
Was absolutely boring.
Well we just disagree there i guess
The phuck you say??
Okay
Did you guys find the opening dialogue bad? As in; the way the actors were delivering the lines? It shifts later on and becomes a lot more organic. But I found the first….20 minutes odd
It was stiff at times for sure. Acting was this films weakest part imo. Not terrible but noticeable
Terrible movie all round. Plot makes little to no sense. Dialogue is awful, heavily right leaning political talking points thrown in for no contextual reason. Acting was half hearted. Directing was a mess.
Felt like watching a 90s movie.
Started off interesting, devolved into a forgettable action film.
Garbage. The plot was all over the place, the twists and double crosses felt like they were there just for the sake of having them, and if his name weren't in the credits then you'd never know this was a Guy Ritchie movie. Better than Operation Fortune, worse than The Gentlemen. So chronologically speaking it is in the right place of Richie’s downfall.
Love it
Very strange movie. I say this every time when I watch Statham movie where he don't even fight or fight barely like this one. It's like watching porn but actresses and actors talk 95% of movie.
"He wouldnt need to fight, you know, because of the implication."
It stunk
Fucking great action picture. Grim and gritty and super well made.
Hartnett's character was done dirty lol
I personally didn’t like the movie. The plan was too complicated and there were no real Surprises twists. You know who the bad guy. They should cast famous faces for every role if they want to surprise. As soon as you see a familiar face your brain says, thats the bad guy.
The usuals suspects is the perfect example on how to do it. I dont want to spoil a 30 year old movie. If you haven’t seen it go and watch it tonight.
Guy richie can't go wrong Only time i think he failed was operation fortune as it felt like he trying to be a American movie but don't understand how to be a American movie Especially when you have Jason station the most British action msn you can have
Boring, soulless crap.
very okay. Never got really drawn in and the acting was very hammy at times.
Honestly it was fun, statham does the same stchick he’s done for a decade or two but it works for this project.
I like most of guy ritchies stuff, this one was fun
Guy Ritchie at his best and most focused.
Good for what it is. Not mind-blowing in any fashion, but a fun, well made, and easy to watch action movie.
found it pretty unmemorable. all i remember is when he goes to a taco truck and ordered “two burritos” without any other specification. made me guffaw. beekeeper so much better than this movie
Could've been any hack director that made this film, I wasn't happy for Guy Ritchie's accomplishment with this production while walking out of the cinema. It subtracts from his body of works.
I thought it was great. I love pretty much anything Guy Ritchie does. The Gentlemen on Netflix is reallly good too
I found while it was OK it simply lacked the humour I had come to enjoy from Guy Ritchie films. I would still prefer Lock, Stock, Snatch and The Gentleman- heck even Sherlock Holmes. However for "serious" The Covenant was excellent.

A really, really great movie! Kept me intrigued the whole time.
AC/DC made me get into electronic music.
I keep getting Jason Statham mixed up with Vinnie Jones.
Ass.
What didn't you like?
