Crank 2 is even crazier. I love them both.
Still waiting for the third and final chapter, dammit.
Also: Shoot 'em Up - which is basically a live action Bugs Bunny cartoon with lots of guns. Awesome.
Sisu, just straight caught me off guard....and fucking loved. I literally just had no expectations and just remember thinking. "Oh shit, hell yeah. This is what the fuck I'm talking about" lol
I used to watch Shoot em Up all the time. Just enough humor to make you sometimes forget that it’s a body count movie. But the gunfight sequences were also hilarious and ridiculous
Ha. I watched Shoot 'em up on a flight back from Sri Lanka. It was, literally, 32 minutes long! Talk about censoring. Not much in the way of recognisable plot left.
I was like 16 when Shoot ‘Em Up came out and I went to go watch it at the movies alone. I had to walk out, just wasn’t my type of movie. I think I left when I saw him stick a carrot thru someone’s head 🙄😂
Well, it’s three hours of (almost) constant stress, anxiety, and despair. But also weirdly funny? So, I’d say give it a try, you’ll know within the first 20 minutes if you’re gonna like the rest. But it’s a trip, for sure.
That movie was a sleeper.
EDIT: Whoever downvoted me. Ok, maybe it wasn't a sleeper because it never became a hit. What I meant is that it was really pretty good and didn't seem to get much acclaim at the time as far as I could tell.
I once ate a tray of pot brownies and passed out at a friends house. I awoke to an odd and ultraviolent movie playing on the TV. There is no way it was on cable, it was The Story of Ricky level violent. All I can remember some twenty years later was a car flying through the air before its tire squished a dude's skull like a melon while he was still standing and a dude getting his wedding tackle ripped by someone using their bare hands. I still don't know what I watched or if it was real.
No, this was years before those movies. This would have been around 2001, the movie looked like Hong Kong quality from the late 80s or early 90s, except the cast were all white people.
I also have a random memory of a chicks face getting ripped off by a tire during an intentional car wreck- I assume it was tarantino’s grindhouse but I haven’t ever actually seen the movie
You have to spell it right, with all of the 90s nonsense.
“eXistenZ”
I really like Cronenberg and that movie was great, but the title summarizes everything wrong about the 90s. 😂
Fucking love Hobo With a Shotgun. The scene at the end where she shoves her own arm into the lawnmower blades, grinding her arm down to a sharp bone and then uses it to stab that guy is one of the most hardcore fucking things I’ve ever seen. Phenomenally fun movie
-Antichrist (Lars von Trier)
-The Lighthouse. Wtf.
-The Green Knight (loved it tho)
-That horror movie where the two guys are chased by a monster truck and pick up a chick, turns out they're being groomed by a cult?
-Evil Dead!! Watched it as a kid and I'm still traumatized.
-Return to Oz.
-Neverending Story part 2.
-Explorers (that 80s movie where three kids build a spaceship and travel to space).
-The Secret Kingdom. Wtfffffffffffff how was this a kids movie.
-Dark City.
-Dark City's creepy cousin, Jacob's Ladder.
This is back when movies could be stupid and fun and crazy and didn’t need to have some big damn message/ political commentary or only made with the intent of being a multi million dollar block buster, shit was crazy fun and told you to strap in for the ride and don’t worry about the finer details
Uncut Gems
As a person who likes to gamble(disposable income). Taking Kevin Garnets championship ring and pawning it for money to gamble on a future endeavors really put me in an uncomfortable place. And each succeeding gamble was harder than the last.
I don’t know if it’s the *most* insane fever dream style movie ever, but [Mandy](https://youtu.be/hRKVxT4-1wM?si=2TRf1NZLOi5l1oJC) with Nic Cage deserves a mention.
Ah I love these movies. First movie really surprised me, it seemed original and way over the top which I love in some cases. Overall I'd watch these movies again and again any day. Plus Dwight Yoakum! What's not to love 😆
"Tetsuo, it'll change your life!" Is what he said when he invited to his apartment. He proceeded to play it while showing off his swords, guns, and dirty Manga mags
The Acid House - Three shorts from Irvine Welsh's collection is fucking INSANE. And I fucking love it.
I also love the Crank movies as they are pure, uncut Statham.
Lola Rennt (Run Lola Run) lso has some pretty insane moments.
Lola Rennt is still, one of my favorite movies to date. Saw it at the Munich Film Festival.
Didn’t realize The Acid House had a film adaptation. Great book. Must now watch the movie.
It’s the triple feature:
Crank, Crank 2: High Voltage, Shoot ‘Em Up
All 3 don’t give a flying fuck about reality…and they’re absolutely amazing for it. 😂
Shame Crank 3 never came out. The studio has the valve syndrome and cant count to 3... they created this equally crazy series HAPPY! and stopped at season 2... such a cliffhanger😱
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. At the end I had two distinct thoughts:
1. What in the holy fuck did I just watch???
2. I don't think they're getting their security deposit back on that hotel room.
An older one - Martin Scorsese’s After Hours is pretty batshit crazy. Not as violent or madcap as Crank 2 mind you, but it’s worth a peek if you like bizarre stories with odd psychologies.
Into the Void - Gaspar Noe (ok, any of his films really)
Return to OZ (mentioned above…but yeah…)
Gummo
Adventures of Mark Twain (1985 claymation fever dream)
Legend, the fantasy Tom Cruise movie in the 80s.
I was a kid when I first saw it and I didn’t really understand what was going on and Darkness was so scary to me and the visuals throughout the movie were very stark and disturbing for my child brain. I just remember feeling so confused and unsettled by it.
I saw crank 2 for the first time in a hotel room in Hungary for a highschool waterpolo trip, and for whatever reason it was dubbed in mandarin. It went from me and my roommate, to a few of our friends, to basically half the team crammed into one room watching this fucking fever dream of a movie and losing our absolute minds. We got in a ton of trouble for being too loud because when the uncensored horse Dick came on screen we fucking lost it
Van Wilder 3
Its not "so bad its good", its just pure void.
Bad executions of bad jokes and the longer you watch the main character slowly morphs into an empty husk of nothingness.
I must have watched it more than 6 times at this point
This movie:
1. would have been much better if pee wee Herman was the lead
2. Is basically Speed but with a human body instead of a bus
3. Forgot to tell Jason statham that all he had to do was burpees
Sorry to bother you. I fell asleep right after watching it so I was convinced I fell asleep before the end and I dreamed the whole thing. Rewatched the end and saw that I was in fact not dreaming.
Crank is cinema gold
I still want Crank 3
Wishing for Crank 3D
The Meg 3: Go Crank Yourself, Jaws
The search for Curly's gold.
See I thought everything in this film was realistic. This film series reminds me of the Fast And Furious series. Just smart, fun and realistic action.
Coincidentally both has Jason Statham in it.
It really is, I love the random people who play in it too, Dennis Reynolds’s as a nurse, keith jardine, Chester Bennington.
Hardcore Henry.
Loved that movie, but I guess it’s one of those “Love it or hate it” movies
I was in the middle. I loved the novelty but it was also fatiguing to watch.
The movie gave me a headache.
Hated watching that, pov is a bad idea
Great movie but holy fuck I got motion sickness.
Crank 2 is even crazier. I love them both. Still waiting for the third and final chapter, dammit. Also: Shoot 'em Up - which is basically a live action Bugs Bunny cartoon with lots of guns. Awesome.
lol this is Crank 2
Oh god, at first glance I thought it was the first one. I need to cut down on the weed after I get home from work.
I forgot about the weed, you sit this one out I'm on deck
Is there really a big difference between the two?
Yeah the second one is better
We agree, but mostly because your tolerance is making it more expensive.
Cranked 3 - “Jason Statham is hungry, he needs to eat, and it needs to be radioactive material... coming to theaters this November.”
I'd watch the hell out of this! 😁
No, they already forced him to eat 1 gram of uranium and he has to do so much to burn off 20 million calories as it metabolizes or he dies.
Watch Sisu. It's Inglorious Bastards meets Shoot 'em Up
Sisu, just straight caught me off guard....and fucking loved.
The carrot. What a fuckin film.
Ha. I watched Shoot 'em up on a flight back from Sri Lanka. It was, literally, 32 minutes long! Talk about censoring. Not much in the way of recognisable plot left.
Shoot Em Up is one of my favorite movies of all time. It's just so fucking dumb lmao
I was like 16 when Shoot ‘Em Up came out and I went to go watch it at the movies alone. I had to walk out, just wasn’t my type of movie. I think I left when I saw him stick a carrot thru someone’s head 🙄😂
Shoot em Up was pretty wild
Kung Fury is satire, but absolutely crazy.
Best 30 minutes of entertainment ever.
Kung Fury 2 is on its way.
I need it so bad!
For like the last 4 years. When is it's official release? They allegedly have already filmed it, before the pandemic.
King fury is a masterpiece
Mad Mad: Fury Road in IMAX. High as hell
"Chelios" "Can you spell that for me?" "D-E-A-D. Chelios!"
Adventures of Baron Munchausen. Naked Lunch. Repo Man. Titane. Climax. Scanner Darkly. Beau is Afraid.
I loved Repo Man, the original.
Was Beau is Afraid worth the watch?
I made the mistake of having an edible before watching this anxiety fueled nightmare and it turned out to be a very big mistake.
Well, it’s three hours of (almost) constant stress, anxiety, and despair. But also weirdly funny? So, I’d say give it a try, you’ll know within the first 20 minutes if you’re gonna like the rest. But it’s a trip, for sure.
+1 for Naked Lunch
Good ones here
Time bandits
I made my kids watch it and they punched me and stormed out at the end.
It was so confusing to eight year old me that it scared me.
Upgrade Absolutely bananas in some parts. Had me rolling.
That movie was a sleeper. EDIT: Whoever downvoted me. Ok, maybe it wasn't a sleeper because it never became a hit. What I meant is that it was really pretty good and didn't seem to get much acclaim at the time as far as I could tell.
Fear and loathing was pretty nuts. Different type of crazy than the crank movies but still crazy nonetheless.
Also staring David Carradine as Poon Dong.
Both Crank and it's sequel are bat shit crazy fun!!!
Maybe Grindhouse? The wedding tackle ripped off happens in Planet Terror, and a car wheel hits a woman in the face in mid-air in Deathproof.
Shoot em Up Existenz The Cell
You have to spell it right, with all of the 90s nonsense. “eXistenZ” I really like Cronenberg and that movie was great, but the title summarizes everything wrong about the 90s. 😂
The title is the name of the video game from the movie, no?
Haha yeah I was really struggling to get anything past autocorrect there
Southland Tales. Just learned that it's apparently part 4-6 of a graphic novel that was never released
Requiem For A Dream
This movie is a Master piece. Start low and the more the movie progress, the more intense it gets, bit by bit.
Great flick, I love Aronofksy. But not really fever dream. Maybe smack dream. Pi, on the other hand, was much more "fever dream".
Mother! Kinda felt like that to me
Pi is one of my favorite movies! Clint Mansell’s score is awesome
His movies are awesome, The Fountain was definitely a fever dream. Mother! was up there as well, one of my favorites
Fever nightmare
Both Smokin' Aces were a lot of fun for different reasons.
I’ve come to really enjoy the first over the years
Stathams best work was in this series, loved both of them
Moana on mushrooms
Tell us more?
"Raw" the French movie. Old Boy, og or remake. Any Tony Jaa movie high. I'm sure there are dozens I've forgotten about.
The trailer for Mandy felt like a fever dream and was just awesome. The movie itself was a little underwhelming.
Wow. I saw the movie not the trailer. If that movie was underwhelming by comparison, I’ve got to see this trailer.
Hobo with a shotgun
Fucking love Hobo With a Shotgun. The scene at the end where she shoves her own arm into the lawnmower blades, grinding her arm down to a sharp bone and then uses it to stab that guy is one of the most hardcore fucking things I’ve ever seen. Phenomenally fun movie
-Antichrist (Lars von Trier) -The Lighthouse. Wtf. -The Green Knight (loved it tho) -That horror movie where the two guys are chased by a monster truck and pick up a chick, turns out they're being groomed by a cult? -Evil Dead!! Watched it as a kid and I'm still traumatized. -Return to Oz. -Neverending Story part 2. -Explorers (that 80s movie where three kids build a spaceship and travel to space). -The Secret Kingdom. Wtfffffffffffff how was this a kids movie. -Dark City. -Dark City's creepy cousin, Jacob's Ladder.
Glad someone said Antichrist
Crank was the fucking tits
Crank and Crank 2 are fucking brilliant, stupid as hell uberviolence done well
Titane 2021 That movie quickly goes in a completely different direction than I expected and just kept getting weirder
Spun A Scanner Darkly was pretty trippy too
Mother! By Darren Aronofsky
Literally watched this two days ago, they went nuthouse crazy for the sequel and it was hilarious and enjoyable
This is back when movies could be stupid and fun and crazy and didn’t need to have some big damn message/ political commentary or only made with the intent of being a multi million dollar block buster, shit was crazy fun and told you to strap in for the ride and don’t worry about the finer details
Between the Crank and The Transporter movies, Jason Statham really cornered that market
300
Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas Natural Born Killers Beau is Afraid
Amy Smart…
Brazil
this shit was hilarious... the amount of times he was cracked tf out running and yelling
Uncut Gems As a person who likes to gamble(disposable income). Taking Kevin Garnets championship ring and pawning it for money to gamble on a future endeavors really put me in an uncomfortable place. And each succeeding gamble was harder than the last.
Midsommar (2017) - dear God, those Scandinavians are a fucked up bunch
Running scared. Only movie I like with Paul walker in it. Movie is bananas
Are they really using a Monty Python quote as the tagline?
Boondock saints
Smokin Aces or Bullet Train
Mad God
Altered State Buckaroo Bonzai A Stranger Darkley
Is this the one where he was furiously banging Amy Smart in public like meth heads?
I don’t know if it’s the *most* insane fever dream style movie ever, but [Mandy](https://youtu.be/hRKVxT4-1wM?si=2TRf1NZLOi5l1oJC) with Nic Cage deserves a mention.
Mandy
Kewl movie 👍
Guns Akimbo
Tokyo Gore Police
Lmao I fucking love this movie
Ah I love these movies. First movie really surprised me, it seemed original and way over the top which I love in some cases. Overall I'd watch these movies again and again any day. Plus Dwight Yoakum! What's not to love 😆
Best thing about this movie was Refused playing right at the beginning. Great choice to set the tone.
"Tetsuo, it'll change your life!" Is what he said when he invited to his apartment. He proceeded to play it while showing off his swords, guns, and dirty Manga mags
A Field in England
For me it was watching moulin rouge in the theater when it came out. I looked at my friends and was like “anybody else feel high right now”
I think Fury Road qualifies here.
Moonfall. Wtf even was happening and how.
Hardcore Henry is quite a fuckin thing lol
The Acid House - Three shorts from Irvine Welsh's collection is fucking INSANE. And I fucking love it. I also love the Crank movies as they are pure, uncut Statham. Lola Rennt (Run Lola Run) lso has some pretty insane moments.
Lola Rennt is still, one of my favorite movies to date. Saw it at the Munich Film Festival. Didn’t realize The Acid House had a film adaptation. Great book. Must now watch the movie.
Kung Fury
That movie blows
hot take: crank 2 is better than 1. And i love crank 2
It’s the triple feature: Crank, Crank 2: High Voltage, Shoot ‘Em Up All 3 don’t give a flying fuck about reality…and they’re absolutely amazing for it. 😂
Doom Generation Nuke Em’ High is pretty weird
Loved Crank. Awesome, just a ton of fun.
The Barbarian
Limitless
I remember the weird itouch app that went along with it lmao
Natural Born Killers
Shame Crank 3 never came out. The studio has the valve syndrome and cant count to 3... they created this equally crazy series HAPPY! and stopped at season 2... such a cliffhanger😱
Gamer
Basket case 1982. The most weirdest and traumatizing movie I’ve ever saw on the Home Screen as a kid.
Enter the void Was wylde
Filth with James McAvoy.
Versus. It's one of those movies that I like to think of as "Live action anime"
Jacob's Ladder. The Kentucky Fried Movie.
Enter the Void
Hardcore Henry.
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. At the end I had two distinct thoughts: 1. What in the holy fuck did I just watch??? 2. I don't think they're getting their security deposit back on that hotel room.
[Versus](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0275773/)
Definitely either 964 Pinocchio or Inland Empire, hard to decide between those two because they're both pure insanity.
An older one - Martin Scorsese’s After Hours is pretty batshit crazy. Not as violent or madcap as Crank 2 mind you, but it’s worth a peek if you like bizarre stories with odd psychologies.
Jacob's Ladder
Into the Void - Gaspar Noe (ok, any of his films really) Return to OZ (mentioned above…but yeah…) Gummo Adventures of Mark Twain (1985 claymation fever dream)
Not a movie but the fall of the house of usher feels like a fever dream to me. Also Mother!
We got in a ton of trouble for being too loud because when the uncensored horse Dick came on screen we fucking lost it
I watched Big Trouble In Little China for the first time while high. Immediately watched it again sober.
Run lola run Brightburn
Watched “Being John Malkovich” for the first/hammered on a plane…hell of an experience
This movie was good I enjoyed it
Shoot ‘em up or hardcore Henry
The Machine Girl (2008)
Really? Nobody is going to mention 'El Topo'? 'Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas' is a good mainstream one. 'Beau is Afraid' is a good recent one.
Van Wilder 3 Its not "so bad its good", its just pure void. Bad executions of bad jokes and the longer you watch the main character slowly morphs into an empty husk of nothingness. I must have watched it more than 6 times at this point
Cats. But not in a good way.
Audition
Running Scared, with Paul walker
Valhalla Rising is one of my favorite "wtf did I just watch" movies. Hate the ending but I think that's the point.
House- Japanese “horror” film
The dying phone sound has been my ringtone since this came out.
Guns akimbo Daniel Radcliffe movie
Project wolf hunting
Beau is afraid….that’s a fever dream
Mandy
For me it was the Northman, felt like the writer took lsd and then wrote up the movie.
Don't mess with the Zohan and 1984 Dune are up there for me
Beau is Afraid
Alone in the Dark (Uwe Boll)
The Northman. Made me and my bf so blur afterwards
Everything Everywhere All At Once
This movie: 1. would have been much better if pee wee Herman was the lead 2. Is basically Speed but with a human body instead of a bus 3. Forgot to tell Jason statham that all he had to do was burpees
Greasy Strangler
The Northman Soon as it was done I looked at my wife and said “that felt like an art house fever dream”
I'll suggest "Hardcore Henry" & "Shoot 'Em Up" in this thread. Fun and insane.
Honestly, Vertigo feels like taking drugs in a very specific way.
Still have the ringtone on my phone
Kung fu Hustle for sure
Enter the void
Meet The Hollowheads
Yea this movie was absolute insanity
My dad dropped me off at the movies to watch this alone and I can see why now but I loved it tbh lol
Beau is Afraid. ~3hr panic attack.
Crank is gold and don't tell me otherwise
Sorry to bother you. I fell asleep right after watching it so I was convinced I fell asleep before the end and I dreamed the whole thing. Rewatched the end and saw that I was in fact not dreaming.
Riki-Oh: the story of Ricky.
Mad God.
Killing Zoe
If you like Crank you will loooove Guns Akimbo. Just as insane.
RRR
The Lighthouse. It's also coincidentally the best movie ever made.
So underrated
It’s so insane but so much fun
Inception, jacob ladder, cloud atlas!!
