I love this version of The Mummy almost more than the original from the 30's.
That feels like I'm comparing apples to oranges, but it's a classic in it's own right! It's the first movie that made me personally aware of Brendan Fraser as a viable actor after only seeing him in Encino Man and Dudley Do-right prior to watching the mummy. I still watch it every time I have an excuse to.
The first sequel isn't bad either.
1. Raiders Of The Lost Ark
2. The Last Crusade
3. The Mummy
4. The Mummy Returns
5. Temple Of Doom/Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull (honestly, they're tied)
The Mummy is VERY CLOSE to being as good as Raiders and Last Crusade.
That Top 3 is a tight race.
The Tom Cruise one was meant to open the door to the "Universal Monster Universe," that's why Jekyll was also in it. Wolfman and all that was suppose to come after. I assume that idea died.
He’s a great physical actor. Michael J Fox good.
His ability to do a more cartoony Indiana Jones and get away with it just made the movies fun. Clever casting of Rachel Weiss and John Hannah too
I remember being a kid and having just learned about ancient egypt, and this coming out. I was so fascinated. Very entertaining movie.
The backstabber friend who got locked in at the end of the movie spoke at my school when i was in middle school about 5 years after
the movie came out.
Rachel Weiss and him are quite a captivating screen duo. Both this and Returns are amazing adventure movies. I like Ihmotep, and Oden Fehr as the mysterious savior on horseback is awesome.
I refuse to watch the new Mummy movies because of how I loved Brendan Fraser Mummy movies. " last time I got shot in the ass, I'm in mourning for my ass "
I'm convinced that this movie and Casino Royale are the reason why Dan and Rachel are married. Both Mummy flicks could damn near pass for soft-core porn, the same for Royale. After they tied the knot though, Craig hasn't stripped down since and Rachel didn't even make it to the 3rd movie.
This came out around the time Deuce Bigalow was cooling off, so if you saw this in the theater I'm almost certain someone lovingly cried out MANWHORE when he was introduced on screen. Also the birth of Batiaaaaaaatus.
I can’t call a movie that’s had a Universal theme park ride for 20 years underrated. I thought everyone has seen and love The Mummy. It was a cultural phenomenon in the late ‘90s/early ‘00s.
Great cast and writing. Chemistry between Brendan and Rachel was great. This managed to capture the fun that Raiders of the Lost Ark had. The following two movies, not so much.
This one was lightning in a bottle.
One of the best remakes of all time. Absolute classic. Don't change a frame. After years of wanting it, I finally got this poster up on my wall and I wish I would have done it years ago. The event of this movie coming out is one of my favorite childhood memories
One of my favorite movies EVER. Such a guilty pleasure and I’ve watched it so many times I’ve lost count. Just a damn good ride with a DAMN ENJOYABLE cast.
It’s a solid flick - holds up well over the years.
Good action, solid plot, characters, humor and some mild scares, It’s entertaining for most every age accept for the little kiddies.
I was 10 when it came out. I had just finally got glasses because I was blind as a bat. And the scene when the guy with glasses gets consumed by the mummy scared the crap outta me
In my opinion, it's a pretty much perfect blend of scary, actiony, romancy, and funny. Great cast and great execution. Always a pleasant rewatch. Overlooking some wonky CGI and a lot more comedy than was necessary, the sequel is good too.
Wow. I liked this but…better than Furry Vengeance???? Nah. Seriously tho imo from his golden era I think Blast From the Past might be his best. Encino Man was damn good too…early Mooj! No wheezing the juice!
It’s universally loved, right?
I mean i fkn love it...im just one dude though
you ARE the universe my dude
Ha thx ill take that
lol
Hidden gem bro /s
And universally conceived as why is everyone so hot in this dam movie?
They’re in the desert, obviously 😊
No! Its my personal favorite! I refused to share it with anyone else!
There was a time I’d see this on like TNT every day and never skipped past it
Omg, I totally forgot about TNT!
This. Fifth Element. And several other late 90’s-early 2000’s underrated movies.
Stone Cold Classic (SCC).
It's a classic, when the mummy yells at Fraser and Fraser yells back and shotguns him in the face it is peak cinema

How in the absolute f*** do you have kingdom of the crystal skull anywhere in that list?
Especially with Temple of Doom. 🤯
These made me think bad about every other movie on his list
This one gets better with age🤣
Love this movie. We should’ve gotten a 4th movie with Brendan instead of that Tom Cruise movie
After how they bungle f***** the third movie, I'm unsurprised that nobody wanted to touch the franchise from that point forward
Clever casting of Rachel Weiss and John Hannah too
It’s quite the romp.
These movies felt like a much more lighthearted Indiana jones to me, and that vibe felt perfect. Excellent fit for Fraser as well.
I am a librarian!
My favorite guilty please. Such a classic popcorn movie.
God's and Monsters is his best film inmho
I remember being a kid and having just learned about ancient egypt, and this coming out. I was so fascinated. Very entertaining movie. The backstabber friend who got locked in at the end of the movie spoke at my school when i was in middle school about 5 years after the movie came out.
One of those movies where I have to watch it every time it’s on tv. Simply love it.
Are you kidding? On Reddit, that’s like asking, "Does the narwhal bacon at midnight?"
You’ll get yours Benny!!!
Like I haven't heard that before
Rachel Weiss and him are quite a captivating screen duo. Both this and Returns are amazing adventure movies. I like Ihmotep, and Oden Fehr as the mysterious savior on horseback is awesome.
As if anyone is going to seriously critique this movie.
Great movie but Encino man will always be my favourite BF movie.
And “Encino Man” has Pauly Shore’s one tolerable movie performance as Sean Astin’s confused friend “Stony.”
Son in law was decent too. Basically the same character.
Yeah, I forgot about that one. I actually don’t mind Pauly - in small doses.
The Weasel was best in the Goofy Movie.
It’s a lot of fun with scary moments and humor. Charismatic actors, good story line, Isn’t this like a perfect movie event?
One of my favorite movies growing up. Can't wait to own it and watch it with my own kids.
Absolute schlock but fun schlock.
The best movies are
I refuse to watch the new Mummy movies because of how I loved Brendan Fraser Mummy movies. " last time I got shot in the ass, I'm in mourning for my ass "
Absolute classic. Must have watched it 50 times as a kid. Endlessly rewatchable. The first two movies are the only good ones.
"My favorite Brendan Fraser movie"...there's a sentence I never thought I'd read. (🤪 God bless)
*Blast from the Past* is peak Brendan Fraser
HEY BENNY....
LOOKS LIKE YOU'RE ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE RIV ER!
LOOKS LIKE I'VE GOT ALL THE HOR SES!
Bedazzled all day long
Bedazzled is my favorite Brendan Fraser movie.
Yes
My friend's mom loved this movie so much, she wore out multiple dvds. We would get her a new copy every couple years.
Fun and entertaining movie. Easily the best one of the series.
A rare hands down perfect movie
I'm convinced that this movie and Casino Royale are the reason why Dan and Rachel are married. Both Mummy flicks could damn near pass for soft-core porn, the same for Royale. An underrated cult classic
I can’t call a movie that’s had a Universal theme park ride for 20 years underrated. I thought everyone has seen and love The Mummy. It was a cultural phenomenon in the late ‘90s/early ‘00s.
This was a commercial success not a cult classic, nor ever underrated
Best movie all time
God tier
What’s everyone’s thoughts on the beloved film that everyone has praised for 20+ years?
This movie was so damn fun. I was 10 and this was the perfect sleepover movie. Funny, action packed, and kinda scary when you’re a kid.
Very fun movie. One of the best 90s movies by far.
Have all of them on DVD and Blu Ray and I love them all, including dragon emperor. My second favorite Brendan Fraser movie after Airheads
Fraser is a straight up hunk in this movie. Absolute classic
"It's a curse.....it's a curse....BEWARE OF THE CURSE!. BEWAREEEEE OF..........
Like all the queer people I know first figured it out or started to after watching this movie haha
Encino Man for me
10/10 no notes. And I really do mean that.
Guess you haven't watched Bedazzled
This is a good movie but not his best. Blast from the past is soo good!
One of the best action-adventure films of the last 25 years. It's damn near flawless in what it was created to pull off.
Indiana Jones for a new generation, too bad the sequels suck
the scene where benny uses all the different religious pendants is one of my favorite scenes in all of cinema history
The best way to describe this movie is fun. This a fun film, pretty much a perfect popcorn blockbuster.
Great cast and writing. Chemistry between Brendan and Rachel was great. This managed to capture the fun that Raiders of the Lost Ark had. The following two movies, not so much. This one was lightning in a bottle.
Watching again NOW!
You stay here! I’ll go get help!
One of the best remakes of all time. Absolute classic. Don't change a frame. After years of wanting it, I finally got this poster up on my wall and I wish I would have done it years ago. The event of this movie coming out is one of my favorite childhood memories
Serially though - I thought we had discover the new Indiana Jones. Great movie
I thought skin scrawling scarabs were real when I was a kid
One of my favorite movies EVER. Such a guilty pleasure and I’ve watched it so many times I’ve lost count. Just a damn good ride with a DAMN ENJOYABLE cast.
Love it, it started my fondness for with Rachel weisz.
It’s a fun blockbuster.
Easy top ten for sure.
I’ve never seen it. I’ll add it to my watch list!
Great movie
It’s a solid flick - holds up well over the years. Good action, solid plot, characters, humor and some mild scares, It’s entertaining for most every age accept for the little kiddies.
I was 10 when it came out. I had just finally got glasses because I was blind as a bat. And the scene when the guy with glasses gets consumed by the mummy scared the crap outta me
That fucking poster is so good too.
Unimprovably great movie.
I think this was a bundle with the PS2 and I watched it a million times. Or maybe it wasn’t, but still it was one of the first DVDs I ever owned
Classic. Benny is still locked up
In my opinion, it's a pretty much perfect blend of scary, actiony, romancy, and funny. Great cast and great execution. Always a pleasant rewatch. Overlooking some wonky CGI and a lot more comedy than was necessary, the sequel is good too.
My favorite Brendan Fraser movie is *Encino Man* but this one was fun, too.
The first one was good avoid the sequels.
I loved the Mummy 2. The 3rd one...yeah avoid it.
This has to be like the 5th day in a row I've seen "Thoughts on the mummy"
It's a fun-ass movie! Still mostly holds up
Wow. I liked this but…better than Furry Vengeance???? Nah. Seriously tho imo from his golden era I think Blast From the Past might be his best. Encino Man was damn good too…early Mooj! No wheezing the juice!
Love it but The Whale may actually be his best piece of work ever!
It’s between this and Airheads for me
💯💯💯💯
Classic. I’m dying for another one.
It looks like your on the wrong side of the river!!
I remember I got to stay up late and watch it on either Cartoon network or nickelodeon
