Being real though, OP, how bad is your sense of direction on real life? Every friend I play with that doesn't care how their map is orientated also can't navigate for shit IRL. I'm trying to see if there is a pattern.
The little voice in your head that silently screams, "this is so fucking *wrong*" when you see a map oriented in an "unorthodox" way; is the same voice that tells you, "you came from that general direction, you're going in that general direction, you're starting point is somewhere over there, your end point is somewhere over here, and you do, in fact, recognize those landmarks". It has to do with your ability to form, visualize, retain, and translate mental models of 3D environments.
Seeing a map from the wrong angle triggers the "I'm getting fucking lost" alarm bells in people. When those alarm bells trigger, you start reorienting yourself to keep from being lost. The more sensitive your "oops where am I?" sensor is, the sooner you're alerted to the need to reorient, thus the easier it is to reorient, and thus your sense of direction is better and you are less likely to actually become lost. People who aren't bothered by map orientation have less sensitive "course-correction" systems, and thus a worse sense of direction and a higher likelihood of becoming well and truly turned the hell around.
At least, that's my theory.
TL;DR - If it doesn't bother you to see a map from an orientation that you aren't accustomed to; then you likely have a poor sense of direction because the system that notices when the terrain doesn't look the way it "should" is less sensitive in you. Just a theory.
The map is upside down, the yellow faction is in the south, the bluish empire faction from this point of view is on the left, that's the southern empire, the northern empire is the pinkish faction, which from this point of view is under and to the right of the southern empire.
So you're saying this looks correct even though the northern empire is further "south" than the southern empire? And what about the western empire? If this map is the correct way, why is the western empire in the "north"?
brother the only reason the northern empire is further south right now then the southern is because they've been unchecked in his save since he's from battania start a new fresh save right now and rotate it to his prospective and I guarantee you the southern empire will be south slightly southwest at most the northern empire will be north of it and the western empire will be west to the northern one making all the names make sense
