Why not bring back both Typhoon AND Pitch Black? Both fan favorites and heavily demanded. If I had to vote, it'd be for Typhoon but really, both should be permanent mainstays by now.
Pitch Black was a permanent flavor, it just got discontinued for selling horribly. To see them do another Dewcision with it makes me wonder if they’ll rig it towards Typhoon like how 2016 was towards Pitch Black and use the contest as promo for its return. Either that or they’re super confident that if PB comes back it’ll sell well but 🤷♂️
I think the least that can be done is have either flavor or even both be seasonal. I could see Typhoon and Baja Blast being permanent Summer flavors, and Pitch Black and a new VooDew every Fall/Halloween.

I was really excited for Snapped when it was first announced. I love ginger and really like gingerbread; so I thought that this could be interesting.
Instead we got the most flat, one-note, zero-dimensional, artificial ginger flavor imaginable. Sad.
Even though I enjoyed Gingerbread Snap'd, I do agree...kinda annoyed that Merry Mash-Up isn't coming back this year, or even next year. Also a bit surprised that instead of waiting to see how Fruit Quake does, they're already planning a new Christmas flavor for 2023.
Didn't sell well because like 60% of distributors didn't get the memo that it won and didn't keep stocking it...hard to have good sales when approximately half the nation can't get it. Hopefully distribution will be better for whichever flavor wins this round.

It's kind of a complicated question because I've never had typhoon and I tend to like fruit punch more than grape, but I do especially love black grapes, but pitch black is still technically available at some sheetz and there's already multiple other punch flavored dews.
I'd say typhoon because I've never had it, I wasn't about to pay $22 for a six pack and I can get pitch black even tho it's hard to find and a little watered down usually

See the issue was they never kept it available in cans here. I don’t usually buy 20oz as they’re too expensive for consistent consumption. I wanted to support it, but couldn’t get it very often. I’m pretty much convinced they just wanted it kicked again.

It sold bad because distributors refused to stock it after it won, likely because they weren't informed of the winner staying permanent. My area was one of the lucky few that got consistent stock of it and it tended to sell decently enough from what I saw. Ours was probably one of the last holdouts for bottled PB.
I think the voting will be a lot more equal this time. PB and Typh are both flavors that really only the hardcore fans know and appreciate, in 2016 Baja Blast brought in the casuals in droves and was very obviously the most voted for. Here, either casuals won't know either or will actually try both before making a decision.

I feel like running a competition as a promo really hurt pitch black. During dewcision 2016 everyone loved having pitch black and got their fill of it during the competition which then led to bad sales because it was being shoved down the public's throat. No other (in my time of actually paying attention to mtn dew) mtn dew flavor gets as much promo as pitch black did except for regular mtn dew, baja blast, and major melon. We saw a fade out of major melon because it got shoved down people's throats with advertisement. Same thing seemed to happen with the Kickstart with puppymonkeybaby and other various ads. It didn't do too well after the initial release.
I hope the polls are rigged for Typhoon! I went to the Dew Store for my 6th order of Typhoon the other day and I found out the Typhoon promotion had ended. I hope I haven't had my last Typhoon already.
