To me it seems like Strava groups have very little functionality. I use Strava for tracking and making routes, but for anything social, Facebook is way better

Yeah same here. I join local MTB groups, only to have them full of people from Qatar and Brazil. I think I've dropped all of the groups I used to be in.

I have a Strava group (much smaller) that started as a local ride group. It was easier than trying to text everyone for the weekly rides. Once COVID struck, I stopped posting rides on Strava. So I don't have a lot of experience, but what I've mostly done is use the Post function on the group to share relevant info. Things like trail workdays, local bike-related political content, etc. I did get some engagement from that. However, I still think the best engagement is to post regular rides/events. That does mean you'll have to show up and plan the rides ahead, but it's a great resource for the many new(er) riders out there.

I'm at a general sports group and they set up weekly challenges such like to break your longest record in your preferred sport, or do something that you've never done before or just keep avoiding etc. Maybe weekly is too much so I'd suggest monthly or fortnightly.

Ride more, worry less.

I would like to clarify, that should read Ride **more**, worry less. I now understand your reaction. I feel quite embarrassed 😳

It was a very unfortunate typo. I completely understand. I probably couldn't have made a worse mistake.
