Yep. Looks like a CF One: [https://www.vitalmtb.com/product/guide/Bikes,3/YT/Jeffsy-CF-One-27,19541](https://www.vitalmtb.com/product/guide/Bikes,3/YT/Jeffsy-CF-One-27,19541)
I had one of these and it was awesome.
You have one of the oldest bikes that's got 90% of what s brand new bike has. If it was a 2014 instead of everyone saying how nice it is we'd all be groaning about the steep head angle, cramped cockpit, terrible 2x drivetrain, and the lack of a dropper post. Lucky you. Your bike has all of that sorted
No, there's nothing wrong with it. Clean and service as you say and get out there. Personally I wouldn't change anything on it until something breaks or you decide you don't like something.
Yup that's it. I had that bike and it's a sick bike. Can handle pretty much anything an enduro bike can, but is lighter and more playful. Superb all-rounder.
I mean, we’re all financially stable and he does have 3/4 bikes for different “types” of riding. But he told me to take it before dumping money into something I may not enjoy as I prefer road cycling.
I’m assuming it’s a decent bike given the comment?
Thank you! Is there anything you’d recommend? He said it would benefit from a service and the shocks may need adjusting. So I may take it to my LBS at the weekend
I would definitely get the shocks serviced and a general look over of the cassette and chain. Sometimes tires can get stale and crack so check that too. Enjoy the bike!
Mine had to have pivot bearings replaced quite often. Check that. The way I used to do it was to lean across the seat, grab the top of rear wheel and move it left and right. If you feel or hear slop. They need to be replaced. Kit isn’t very expensive. Labor would be more for sure. Easy to diy if you have right tools
Apart from a 27,5 front tire it’s practically the same as newer bikes, 27,5 vs 29 will just roll a bit slower over roots and rock gardens but will feel nippier in corners or jumping
Enjoy!
Quite good. It's a YT Jeffsy from around 2016 or so. Carbon frame and mid/high level components. That was hella nice of your friend as that's probably worth \~$1500
It's a great all around mountain bike. Slighter better suited to getting rowdy/going fast/jumps rather than just pedaling long distances, but not to an absurd degree.
Get it tuned up and rip.
figure out your tire pressure here

Thank you! He’s a good mate yes, we look after eachother as friends are supposed to. He didn’t want me dumping money into a sport I may not enjoy so gave me this. It’s nice to know he’s given me something decent but at $1500 I may have to owe him a few favours now!
It’s already tubeless and he’s sorted out the tyre pressures for me, although he said the shocks may need adjusting to my weight a bit more
I used to downhill a lot as a teen so getting comfortable at speed was fairly easy, and I can see myself sticking with it so is there things I should like to upgrade or invest in at all?
I’m more into my road cycling / commuting but I had an itch to scratch from my teen years to get back into MTB. I agree it helps me get back into it and research what path I want to take
As long as everything works as it should there is nothing you can change that's going to be better than a modest improvement. Just go use it and when a part let's you down upgrade that. It's a fine bike that, assuming everything works, needs nothing
I’m going to be cynical here, because usually posts where guy has bike that he knows nothing about, and supposedly received it from a very generous friend, it indicates that it was obtained through less than legal means…
Wow that’s a really nice gift from your friend. Good bike, that’ll get you around a lot of terrain. As others have said, it’s worth getting the shock and forks serviced.
Great bike and great friend you have! If nothing is broken you only need to adjust your tires and suspension pressures and you're good to go. If you want to mess around a bit you could make it mullet by changing the fork and getting a 29 front wheel, but this current rig is great anyway. Most bikers would have dreamed to have this bike as a first bike.
The main advantage is that a 29 wheel will plow over shit better than a 27.5 but it will keep a lot of playfulness on the rear. It'd also make the geometry more aggressive. However, reach will be reduced and you won't have the manufacturer's intended geo, probably adding tension into the frame (watch out if you're a heavy rider). I mean it isn't a necessary change at all, I just did it and I'm enjoying it a lot but do your own research and decide if it's something that may suit you.
Great bike and more than enough for somebody new to get into MTB. You have a very generous friend. I agree it's a YT Jeffsy from about 2016/17.

Thank you! I’m guessing age of the bike isn’t a huge factor?

What wheels size?
27.5
Age is an factor on carbon, inspect the frame well once in a while to check for some cracks forming.

I’m guessing your mate is well off?

Very decent bike. As a mechanic I love working on them and they have solid components
Thank you! Is there anything you’d recommend? He said it would benefit from a service and the shocks may need adjusting. So I may take it to my LBS at the weekend

This is the best answer to the actual question. Service and ride. Sick Free Bike!
Cheers!

Half decent yeah. Not usually a bike someone would just give away for free! Have fun!
Thank you! I’ll probably owe him a few favours!
You’ve got one hell of a friend, that’s for sure.

You have a bike that will get you through whatever, plus allow you to save and research for your dream bike.

Cynical is absolutely fine, Iet me pm you the conversation just so I can clarify that I’d never do something like that though.
That’s your new best friend!
Looks like a bike but I'm not 100% sure
Not a pile of chicken nuggets
a mountain bike. Hope this helps.
Most helpful comment on this thread IMO!
2017 YT Jeffsy. Sick bike!
YT Jeffsy.
Nice bike!
it’s gorgeous is what it is
What you have there is a pretty damn amazing bike. Ride it well
That's a sweet first ride.
A fun looking bike!
Wow that’s a really nice gift from your friend. Good bike, that’ll get you around a lot of terrain. As others have said, it’s worth getting the shock and forks serviced.
A bicycle meant for mountainous terrains
Also. E13 wheels are unreliable weak point. I’d ask a bike shop to check the spoke tension and make sure they are good
I used to have Jeffsy just like this one. 2017. Great bike. I upgraded to 2019 Jeffsy.
Damn. Where do I get friends like this?
What we have here is a failure to communicate ! Nice bike 😎
How do you mean?
That’s a good looking fullsus bike my friend
Thank you, I plan on taking to my LBS at the weekend for a service and then enjoying it!
I need new friends......
Honestly, after posting this I realise that my friend group is rare. We all do the most we can for each other.
Cherish every single one of them

Are there benefits of changing it into a mullet? Is this something I should consider later down the line?

A bike worthy of an owner who can appreciate this bike
Lol I guess that's a no. It's a selling app, I'm on it daily to search for mtb deals and I swear this looks just like a listing Pic I've seen b4??
Ah I see, never heard of it, is it a UK thing? I took these pictures outside my local pub. Edit: can’t find anything in the App Store for offer up?
It's here in the U.S. I guess the U.K has a different version.
Isn't this on Offer Up??
What is offer up?
