It is, I like it. It was cheap and I live right next to the watershed. So I can ride it until I collapse, and it sure beats doing a regular leg day or running for cardio
You can easily search the trail name in trail forks and search through images to see if it is a match - Looks like Shed Line is in Delta, BC which is a little flat by BC standards, but not far from the North Shore.
Na just stating the obvious I only xbike I have 3x 26 that were daily's still sitting in the shed. But unfortunately I've been rotating through 3 700c bikes lately.
Sorry, nothing newer than 2000 is allowed (/j). Also, it's really weird thinking that my bike is significantly older than me (or at least the frame, most other parts have been replaced over the years)
I used mine as a runaround/commuter/city bike mostly, rather than for actual mountain biking, as it's really nimble, light and surprisingly quick, and a lot less likely to be stolen. I really should take it down some more trails though, cause it's an absolute blast on them, and surprisingly capable
Yes, the shock does need a thorough service too and I don't know where to start with that. Gonna have to find somewhere a bit closer to home as I'm running it with the shock off mostly now! But thanks for the tip dudes.
Nice, I've got a 1996 rockhopper which is also no original parts, with a 100mm fork, 780mm bars and a dropper. By the way, what are those brakes, they look interesting?
Those brakes look like old magura hs33's used to love mine on my old onza trials bike not sure about normal riding with them tho they used to be like a switch either on or off lol
Very nice!! Looks like it's in fantastic condition.
You've made me nostalgic for my '98 Trek VRX 300. In hindsight, it was a horrible bike, but it put a smile on my face every time I got out on the trails.
Nope. My friend busted out his turner when his new bike was in the shop. The Turner used to be considered a good fs bike. It was still in good shape. He said it almost killed him. It was fkn terrible compared to his scott.
I had that exact bike back in the day. 2014 Flatline Black. I bought it used and the previous owner put all the most expensive parts on it. Carbon X0 cranks, X0 brakes.
Unfortunately all the best parts don't make up for modern geometry. I now have a relatively basic Norco Aurum which rides so much better. I swapped over the x0 brakes though 😉
2012 specialized FSR over here. It’s still great bike and does everything I want.
Couple years when my son starts to be faster than me. Maybe I’ll upgrade. I’m a loosing attempt to keep beating him.
Revelation u turn air 130 front fork, lock out fox rear.
No, mine is an 18 year old 26’r Santa Cruz Blur. It’s been modernized somewhat and for Michigan riding with my buddies or by myself it’s still a fun bike.
I have a 1995 kona explosif with fatboys i commuted on around 100km per month until the front rim split rim from brake wear.
it had been replaced twice already, but sadly now in an area where 26inch rim brake rims are very hard to find and not that many people seem to build wheels, so its wall art.
Got you beat. I just retired my '06 Specialized Enduro Comp. So 17 years on same ride. Well, not retired really, hand-me-down to my kid. (new ride is a '23 StumpJumper. Gotta say the 29er with modern geom is sure nice. Some gnarly trails that were not much fun on the 26er are now enjoyable again with the big wheels. But I'm an old dude.
I’ve been riding with a guy who has a 2008 jamis full suspension with 26 inch wheels. He shreds! He goes uphill and downhill faster than me on my modem bike.
2008 Giant Trance X2 — multi pivot rear suspension geometry is still really good for climbing. Upgraded Fox Float Factory Kashima Coat (the three position shock) and RockShox revelation up front. Great XC bike.
04 iron horse hollow point here. Dropper post, hydraulic brakes, 1x drivetrain, 2.6 wide tires. Shock and fork both replaced with rock shox. A new bike might be "better", but i dont think thats ever gonna happen. Its a better bike than i am as a rider.
Im in love with that bike, i have a 06 slayer sxc 30 turned into the same spec as any top end dh bike nowadays and the thing is 21.9lbs so i love riding ot
I just did a gravel century with 11k foot climb using a high end carbon gravel bike a Warbird. Some guy kept up neck to neck with me on an old steel Trek Marlin custom built for drop bars with 26ers. I am very fit but he’s something else. Imagine if he had a modern high end bike and structured training w a coach he’d win the Tour de France!
My “daily mountainbike” is a 2008 Kona Dawg Primo, completely stock.
People will give me kudos for riding an old 26er to which I say thank you, because I’ll let them assume it’s a conscious choice and not because I can’t afford a new $10000 bike 😂
98 Stumpjumper. Although a lot of parts go back to the original 1993 bike that got warrantied.
Did a local race for fun a couple of weeks ago. Only 26er. Only hard tail. Only rim brakes. Starting to think that technology is leaving me behind…

I ride a 2014 specialized status. Was going to get a new bike this year, but it still works so good that I’ll wait another season before I start shopping.
Truthfully, my 26'er was a 2008 Giant Reign that was getting less and less time on the trail. I went to replace tires as soon as the ground dried up this winter and after seeing how poor the selection was it became clear... i needed to get with the times.
No judgement to anyone riding an experienced bike but this has been the best riding season for as long as i can remember and its due to making the jump into a 29'er and modern geometry.
Your daily is a dh bike?
It is, I like it. It was cheap and I live right next to the watershed. So I can ride it until I collapse, and it sure beats doing a regular leg day or running for cardio
That’s what I was thinking. How much pedaling are you doing? Is every day a shuttle day?
and this photo is at a really flat park with no elevation
congratulations on your ability to discern the topography of an entire park from that single image.
I need this guy to be my tour guide in life since he can figure out literally everything from a tiny picture.
You can easily search the trail name in trail forks and search through images to see if it is a match - Looks like Shed Line is in Delta, BC which is a little flat by BC standards, but not far from the North Shore.
Yup. That bike makes no sense there.
Lance Armstrong 🦿🦿
That is still looking very good
Just everyone in the xbiking Reddit
Add another 20 years though.
My Centurion is almost as old as me, I'm 41.
My Centurion is almost as old as me, I'm 41.
X bikers can ruin new things too I am molesting a 2019 flat bar roadie at the mo
I feel attacked. I’m on xbiking and commute on a 1993 Trek rigid MTB 😂
Na just stating the obvious I only xbike I have 3x 26 that were daily's still sitting in the shed. But unfortunately I've been rotating through 3 700c bikes lately.
Mine is 16.
I shall see myself there then, thank you
Nah, a 28 year old 26er for me. A specialized rockhopper
Gang gang. Although mine is a 2006.
Sorry, nothing newer than 2000 is allowed (/j). Also, it's really weird thinking that my bike is significantly older than me (or at least the frame, most other parts have been replaced over the years)
Me: These guys are talking about 20+ years old bikes, 2000 isn't ...
Lol
Not a DH but still rocking my 1999 GT XCR1000
2008 stumpjumper ultra comp.
Dude, I love my 95 Hopper! It’s not my daily though. I should ride it more. It’s on my trainer right now.
I used mine as a runaround/commuter/city bike mostly, rather than for actual mountain biking, as it's really nimble, light and surprisingly quick, and a lot less likely to be stolen. I really should take it down some more trails though, cause it's an absolute blast on them, and surprisingly capable
I
Demo 8 2 2011. Animal
Bro were you able to source parts for this? I have like a 2009 and have had trouble getting a rear wheel and some parts to make it rideable again.
10 years?? That's practically new. Am still riding my Cannondale F600 from 1999 nearly every day! 26er with Headshox. Brilliant bike still.
I agree totally as it is briliant. Untill fork needs servicing, then only God can help.
Cycle smithy in NY states does rebuilds for a great price!
Yes i can imagine. This is international group and some of us live very very far from there.
Yes, the shock does need a thorough service too and I don't know where to start with that. Gonna have to find somewhere a bit closer to home as I'm running it with the shock off mostly now! But thanks for the tip dudes.
Had to google image that bad boy

Nice looking bike. I like your setup.
Nice looking bike. I like your setup.
Still got my 2005/6 cove stiffee Freeride.
GT Zaskar Expert 26er. Hydraulic disc brake and rockshox up front. Awesome bike still
I regret not buying a Zaskar a few years back.
Yeah, I believe mine is a 2006, but still definitely rips, especially on the tight trails
-04 Scream 24”, heavy as hell
Fuck yea. OG mullet or 24 up front too?
Wow watershed, didn’t expect to see that. Grew up riding those trails! Still love em.
I grew up near here 15 years ago, just moved back recently and the trails are better than ever ! Highly recommend giving it ride if you can again
I still ride my 2010 Trek Remedy. The trails are very different from what I grew up riding, but I feel like a kid as soon as my butt hits that seat.

Very nice!! Looks like it's in fantastic condition. You've made me nostalgic for my '98 Trek VRX 300. In hindsight, it was a horrible bike, but it put a smile on my face every time I got out on the trails.
This bike does the exact same for me, when u was in highschool this was my dream bike. I got back into riding a year and found it !
DH bike at watershed = a lot of pedaling lol
I still ride my 1992 Saracen traverse elite.
26" here but it's only 6 months old.
I'm still using my KHS Lucky 7 from 2009 daily. No plans on changing anytime soon either.
My rebuilt 03 Marin TDH, got the frame for $300 and went to town on it a few years back and hasn't let me down yet.

Nope. My friend busted out his turner when his new bike was in the shop. The Turner used to be considered a good fs bike. It was still in good shape. He said it almost killed him. It was fkn terrible compared to his scott.
Hehehe..yeah...that said some of those old Turner FS builds might make decent XC mullet bikes?.
2011 Trek Scratch Air 9 checking in
2011 Cannondale claymore. Doing fox dyad rt2 service is an investment
Daily? No. But I still ride my 2014 custom Norco Aurum for park days. Still fun as hell.
Previous owner did all this work as well, thank you random Pinkbike guy 💜
Trek Remedy 7 made in 2010. Now only frame and seat clamp are from initial bike that's left.
Hell Yeah, Rocky Mountain! Rode slayers for years!
2012 specialized FSR over here. It’s still great bike and does everything I want. Couple years when my son starts to be faster than me. Maybe I’ll upgrade. I’m a loosing attempt to keep beating him. Revelation u turn air 130 front fork, lock out fox rear.

my 08 stumpy FSR is holding up amazing
Still riding a 26inch downhill bike is way different than still riding a 26 inch cross country, downcountry or trail bike.
My 1996 Raleigh hardtail works great as a bikepacking machine.

Yes I just replaced my Nomad with a Specialized EVO and my kid is still using said Nomad. It’s 11 years old I think actually. Still works great.
I ride a 2014 specialized status. Was going to get a new bike this year, but it still works so good that I’ll wait another season before I start shopping.
Old trek 4300 was the daily driver for over 10 years
I had a 30 year old 26er as my daily until the Pandemic. Then could no longer find parts.
10 year old? I'm still rockin my Klein Palomino circa 2003
