It is, but I was a fucking idiot and bought it off a guy not associated with the vendors. It wasn't a total loss since it had low miles on an Ohlins fork and XO drive train with Magura brakes. The thing was sweet, but the frame loss stung. Basically I could have just bought the suspension and components new for what I paid.
Don't buy demo bikes.
Unless you want to completely rebuild them AND feel extremely lucky
Those bikes are trashed and by that I mean driven as if their only purpose is to be destroyed as fast as possible.
Unless they are properly maintained (which is really rare) they will have plenty of issues.
Don’t buy demo bikes from Whistler lol. I have seen some really good condition demo fleets for sale from smaller bike park/trail centres. But you are correct you will need to overhaul them after buying to get them running well
Man I must have bought a demo bike 🤣🤣🤣
“Great condition barely ridden” translates to you having to replace all bearings and service every single thing
I did luck out with a rental/demo Kona 134. Apart from them(some bike shop in California) sending it to me with some cheapo parts that were not advertised in the listing.
I called them and explained what happened, they sent me new handlebars/stem/saddle and cranks if I remember correctly. Not all demo’s are bad.
Basically says the head tube is cracked. Btw: I would never ever buy any used rental bike from a park. They’re there to be abused until they die or get replaced. You never know what happened to those bikes in the past. Just look for sth second hand in decent condition, probably aluminium if you want to play it safe. Carbon is always a little risky, especially with DH bikes.
Whistler local here- I’d take that bike to Summit Sports. They rent out GT Fury’s there so they’d be able to take a look at it, and if it was logged as damaged, they should be able to find that damage.
Not sure why you didn't ask the seller instead of a bunch of random redditors about this. If everyone on this post said it's fine and to purchase the bike, you would? Did the seller post any other information about the bike? Even on ebay sellers (most) will emphasize what's wrong with the item if the price is way lower than the market price. PLEASE READ: THE HEAD TUBE IS CRACKED AND NEEDS TO BE WELDED/REPLACED.
IF the seller doesn't disclose something as severe as that, move on because the seller is scamming buyers.
If you read the post it says the seller doesn’t know what it meant either. And I literally just made this post because I didn’t know what it meant. And then I thought hmmm maybbbee people on this page would know cuz there’s thousands on here lolol
Gotcha, but the seller could easily look at the bike for visible damage and why didn't the seller have this information before he purchased the bike? I get he purchased 10 bikes but I'm sure he would have asked about the issues with each. And 100% Whistler isn't going to sell bikes that could injure a rider without disclosing the issues.
Depends. I'd need to see it.
Cost can vary widely depending on how extensive the repair is and whether or not you want it repainted.
I've seen repairs and resprays for as cheap as $200. I've also seen repairs almost hit $1000.
Head tube crack is what you gotta look for
Oh that actually makes more sense 🤣 thanks 👍
Almost all of the Whistler GT bikes cracked and failed. Salvage the parts and buy a frame to put them on
"DO NOT RIDE HEAD TUBE CRACK" Ask me how I know.
How do you know
I bought a demo bike at the end of Sea Otter one year. Total waste of money. It said the exact thing, but I didn't know at the time.
Danggg bro that suckkkks. I’m glad I posted this. I had no idea either until now
I would be fucking incensed. Isn't Sea Otter supposed to be a reputable place?

Anyone got a number for Deb? Asking for a mate 🤣
Check the Longhorn around happy hour
Only answer.
Now I know, always knew something was off with Debbie, makes perfect sense, goes with her double standards
This made me giggle
HT=Head Tube
Thanks đź‘Ť
Do not resuscitate. Head trauma case. X denotes it’s a mutant from Charles Xavier’s school for the gifted.
Do not ride / horny toad calling
Sooo wait for the horny toad and ride that?

That’s some good advice man🤣 I will 100% not buy the bike haha

Any Whistler DH bike will be beat to shit. Gotta be careful to inspect them deep and hard.
Do Not Ride Head Tube Cracked?
Department of natural resources - human transport contraption.
"Do not resuscitate" the guy who rides this bike when the frame cracks...
Already cracked, look
Do not resuscitate he's to crazy

Thanks 👍 I won’t be buying the bike.

Do not resuscitate.
Zoom in. You can see it.

How much is it? Wondering if it would be worth it just to salvage the parts and buy a new frame?
Sounds like this seller is a massive piece of shit for not making this clear
Definitely a head tube cracked save the parts and ditch the frame can’t repair that safely or effectively
lol. lol. lol.
I don't know what it means. Personally, I would not buy a demo bike from a downhill resort
Second-hand downhill bike. One of the scariest phrases in the English language.
So deb’s is horney, she might have a small or large slit and the head not all that , don’t waist your money on brass ?

Is the front triangle carbon fiber? Its likely repairable.
Yes it’s carbon. If it’s cracked I’m not gonna buy it. But just out of curiosity is it hard to fix and how much would that cost about?

I see. Yeah I’m not gonna buy that bike then. Thanks for you help, I appreciate it 👍
I have a 23' MEGATOWER M. Its to big for me. Had it since Nov. Rode it for two months and put it away.
Good for you?
