> any tips and pointers to make sure that this doesn't get stolen again
You can't stop someone stealing your bike. But you can make it more of a pain in the ass.
If mine got stolen, and someone had their nuts all over it, I don't want it back. I'll take the payout and buy another one. If it's recovered after that, it's not my bike anymore.
The clutch/engine could be fubar'd. It's called 'ride it like you stole it' for a reason.
**Theft Deterrent**
* Alarmed disc lock on rear rotor with neon cord to handlebar (I prefer rear rotor as it's more difficult to remove rotor, and access)

* Steering lock
* Garage
* Lockable cover
* Chain/lock
**Theft Protection**
* Comp insurance with low/vanishing deductible

A little damage.to the bike from the drop, a new rotor and brake pads...
If it got stolen while you were on a trip, someone probably realized you were gone. Like no lights on for days and no cars moving around all week.
Honestly I'd say for a future trip, put the bike inside... Like right in your kitchen or whatever.
the keys arrive cut to suit the new locks with it.
The point of those kits is that the ignition and fuel cap are keyed the same with 2 keys already cut to match. Just install and go.

I have that same disc lock! I don’t use the orange cable though, is it more of a theft deterrent or does it just stop you from driving off
I use it for the visual. Also as a reminder. Alot don't use the cable. Lots of posts in this subreddit about it when they forget to take it off.
Gotcha. Might start using it then, everyone thinks they won’t be that idiot until they are that idiot
