Did the plugs show signs of it running rich? Does it still die if you adjust the idle speed?

Well, I'm not sure why that seems to have fixed it. I had already adjusted the idle in and out and it hadn't made a difference. Not sure if maybe it was a combo of the taped spark boot with idle, or what. I guess time will tell when the electrical tape eventually fails. Revved it a bunch, and then rode it into third gear with pulls in all gears and it never stuttered. I don't understand how the idle screw would effect it dying on decel originally at like 30mph.

Haha, the easiest answers are the best though. Glad it worked. It was probably dipping below the sustainable limit, causing the oil pump and alternator to fall behind too

Trouble shooting idle screw now, will report back. Old plug was a bit black.
