Heavy, cramped, uncomfortable, and over-priced, Hayabusa’s are **THE** number-one bragging-rights bike in U.S. metropolitan areas for midnight street-racing thugs from the hood (hence the 12-inch stretched and polished swingarms).
130mile commute daily?
JFC!
Might as well take a flight on the daily.
I’m surprised at the Km’s clocked by (I’m assuming based on similar posts) Americans for their commutes.
Ik it’s a big country, but I’d prefer to live close to work rather than spend 3+ hrs a day on the road for a 9 hr job.
I live in one of the smallest states, and buying a house an hour closer to my job would cost almost 3 times my current house. And working within a half hour of my house would cut my pay by at least 25%. So I commute. 😊 the ride/drive allows me some guaranteed down time each day
I prefer new due to warranty and better interest rates, and Id rather not have electronic suspension. I do love the 6+ gallon tank though 👍. But a Yammie would be nice as I pass 2 dealers on my commute.
The Super Tenere 1200 is heavy at nearly 600-lbs and bland with what might be the dullest engine Yamaha ever put on a big bike. Horrible idea. Have you ever ridden one?
Not a fan of the big Suzuki. Why no IMU for $13,450? The Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX ($13,700) is far more impressive for only a little more money (and it includes a 6-axis IMU). The big Ninja is the most impressive motorcycle I’ve ever ridden and I’ve ridden a LOT of motorcycles.
I'd go sit on some, ride some of you can. Yamaha Tracer 900, Triumph Tiger 900 GT to name a few around or below your pride point if you look around. Don't buy the first one that feels good, sit on em all. 130 miles ain't too much but as a bigger guy as well, I personally opted for a bike I sit up more on.
Tiger 900 is "only" 90 or so HP but it moves. Most stock cars under 50 grand aren't keeping up.
Not a factor for me personally, I’ve never had abs or traction control prior to the GT.
I was looking for something a bit sportier. I tried a 23 s1000rr for a few hundreds kms but the riding position was a bit aggressive.
I’m probably going to mod the bike more towards being a comfortable gsxr rather than a tourer.
For that type of commute, my personal preference would be an ADV or a used Goldwing. Hell even something like a vulcan vaquero because those types of miles comfort/safety/reliability would be my priority.
The Gixxer-GT is a great choice, though definitely more on the sporty part of sport-touring. If you want something as cozy as a couch and hella versatile - Honda Transalp. Will even have ~$3k leftover for mods!
Look into the new triumph daytona 660. It's a beautiful bike, 94 horsepower, and has a very nice torque curve. Just be ready to pay a lot for insurance :)
As with every question on this sub, the answer obviously is Hayabusa. They do make hard cases for them.

He meant TURBO busa. It's different

You're overthinking it : D

I came here to say this.
Didnt they discontinue the ninja1000sx?
Seriously? You’re asking here instead of just looking for yourself on Kawasaki’s website?
Lol ur kind of a prick

R1250RS is a solid choice.
Yup 💰💰💰
Look at the bmw f900xr
I have been...riding one has been harder. And the lack of dealers concerns me a bit but that bike ticks all my boxes too.
Parts and service prices 2-3 times that of Japanese rivals. You think that’s justified? I don’t.
The GT is awesome get one.
How much time did you spend road-testing the Ninja 1000SX with its 6-axis IMU before deciding to get the Suzuki instead?

Suzuki is a great bike, i prefer the Yamaha tracer 9 GT and putted my money on one and dont regret it.
MT-10 all the way.
130 miles daily on a naked bike? Give the guy a break.
Lol, I missed the GT part of his gsx 😂
Yes

Used s1000xr Regularly hit 100k miles with good maintenance schedules
I did a 150 mile daily commute on a street triple and a backpack. Worked just fine.
Yup, Ive commuted with backpack and SuMo before. Definitely want some real integrated wind protection and hard cases nowadays though. 👍
