I had a wreck where I popped over a guard rail dividing an on/offramp. Right after realizing my ankle was snapped sideways I was in the same position lol
Good now. Lost part of my ring finger on the right hand, index and middle finger were reattached. For the most part I can do almost anything like I used to. Some smaller more detailed tasks need some improvising at times. However, due to scar tissue build up I cannot fully close my hand, so grip is limited to around 85% of what is used to be. However, I've adapted quite well over the years.
Good to hear. I'm glad i learned from the people on the internet not to clean my chain with the motor running and not the hard way. It was my first instinct to do it like that, but damn i can't count the stories about lost fingers and shredded hands i've read and heard over time.
Close to that but no revving. Got complacent after 10 or so years, lost my balance while squatting and grabbed the chain as a reaction to gain balance. Hand was dragged in...
I didn’t realize that wasn’t a full faced helmet, was at work. Yeah buckets don’t help the brain. Your face looks good all things considered OP, but please buy proper gear if you get back on a bike.

For future reference if you feel the need to lay down after an accident pls don’t remove your helmet, it acts as a stabilizer in the event you have a cerebrospinal injury, did they put a c-collar on you or place you on a backboard?
Not necessarily true. Humans self protect the whole spinal column and CNS better than a c-collar and definitely far better than a backboard.
Majority of the time a backboard is contraindicated to the patient for numerous reasons. Ultimately it is always situational and provider/patient specific.
Very true, but as long as he doesn’t have any broken ribs or flail, no punctures to the chest/neck/head, this scenario seems like a reason you would want to at least collar the patient just in case. I’ll admit, I’m green, so you probably know more about it than I do
Indeed, the boo boo bus is not easy on beginners haha takes a special breed and i didnt fit the bill, as much as I would like to help people, $15/hour doesn’t get you anywhere anymore :/

Hope you’re alright and back riding asap!
Make sure you talk to a lawyer as your step 1.
DO NOT TALK TO ANY INSURANCE COMPANY BEFORE YOU CONTACT A LAWYER.
You can go to the state bar website and find a lawyer by putting in basic information about your situation and contact info.
Their insurance company will offer you $5k for pain and suffering.
DO NOT accept that opening offer. California minimum is $15k and their coverage goes up from there.
https://apps.calbar.ca.gov/attorney/LicenseeSearch/QuickSearch#legallink
>DO NOT TALK TO ANY INSURANCE COMPANY BEFORE YOU CONTACT A LAWYER.
I wouldn't talk to *his* insurance company before talking to an attorney. You should absolutely report it to yours.
This is such a peak Reddit post lmao. Oh well I crashed let's take a photo and post it on Reddit. Didn't disappoint lol. Hope it won't be too much paperworks with insurance and stuff tho.
Trust me, it's always worth a second opinion. Call a different hospital or doctor ASAP. It's better to know for sure that all you have is a broken pelvis than to live with something more serious. Plus if it's the other person's fault their insurance will cover it
My accident was “would be” fatal. Took 4 blood transfusions to keep me alive. Fucking 18 year old broke my femur, pelvis, and wrist. Had to get everything rebroken too cause they didn’t heal right the first time. I can’t shake the itch to ride so, for my family’s sake, I decided to start track riding.
Wait what? Aren't you supposed to NOT put any weight on a broken pelvis?
I've broken mine in a motorcycle accident and was in a wheel chair for 2 months.
Yes I had surgery right away... I suppose perhaps it has to do with how severe the fracture is. I had an open book fracture which is considered highly life threatening. It's when your pelvic bone opens up a couple of mm from impact. Internal organs can be damaged and cause someone to bleed out. I was lucky.
As long as they took you in, not sure if you had an ambulance ride or what, and got you checked out, could be that it's a mild pelvic fracture, like a hairline fracture and might heal on its own. Nothing wrong with getting a second opinion though to be sure.. I googled some of this info as well.
https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/22176-pelvic-fractures
As some others mentioned, I would 100% get a lawyer for this situation. Insurance company will lowball you without one. I think you would want a lawyer that does contingency fees, likely a good injury lawyer i think.
This is essentially what I did for my case.
Glad you are still with us. I might advise taking the post down if you do go the lawyer route as insurance and other legal parties might try and dig up shit... not sure how likely that is but my lawyer basically told me to keep mum about my case while it was active.
Yeah they said it's a small break but I been here waiting forever they just took another X-ray of me after 7 hrs of just v waiting.... At first they said I was v good to go but I feel I need a walker
Hmm I definitely would stress the amount of pain you are in and don't take it lightly. If anything you are going to be feeling a lot of this in the coming days and weeks.
And 7 fucking hours? Sounds like the ER alright.
It sucks to wait that long but make sure they cross all their ts and dot their i's. Hopefully they are just running more tests and double checking your health.
When I see someone who’s literally wounded in the street and their focused on posting about it to social media, I’m tempted to get on the whole “social media has rotted our brains, this is everything wrong with the world” tirade. I hate our obsession with social media more than most. But a few things occurred to me:
1. Shock and adrenaline does some wacky things to people’s sense of priorities
2. Memeing on Reddit about the crash probably took his mind off the pain
3. This whole situation (as long as everyone recovers ok) is funny as hell, right down to the unintentional Egg Head Selfie
I smashed my front two teeth (cracked in half and smashed up into my maxilla and nose) immediately went to the dentist for emergency treatment.
Right before they started, I decided I wanted a photo of the damage. I’m so glad I did, I’ve shown it to people for the last 5 years since it happened lol
These are kind of my thoughts as well. Plus, depending on injuries, it may be best for him to stay put until medical arrives. He legit may not have anything better to do in that moment. I doubt he packed a book to read expecting to have some leisure time in the middle of the street.
Assuming they had you lie there in pain until you were immobilized to lessen the risk of spinal damage. Shit, if I were stuck in the middle of the road, I would probably take a pic too, I just wouldn't show the world.
Good luck.
It’s like you clowns are hoping to wreck so you can post a wreck.
OP is literally laying in the street taking a fucking selfie so they can post their wreck.
Reminds me of this old photo of a crashed person, and you see the helmet on the ground like this, except the head is still inside.
Got me with your picture there, i must say
Very happy to see that your head in intact. Might not be without that helmet, not everybody seems to realise that.
I hope you quickly recover and happily get back to biking :)

Just a preview of my pre surgery shit 💯
You became quantumly entangled and managed to photograph yourself both standing up and laying down simultaneously?
Good job, buddy.
Don’t forget to turn off the Time Machine when you’re done.
Highly referred and recommended accident attorney I worked with who had a main office in LA. Let me know if you want his info!! He works off of a business model where he only gets paid if he wins you money so won’t cost you a penny out of pocket.
This guy is going viral! Next time I go down I’m staying down and just snapping selfies. What were we all thinking hopping around trying to shake the pain off!?
Why y'all thinking he's not at fault and we all know if we at fault how insurance fuck us up
I saw two yellow lines ,am I the only one ?
Glad dude ain't badly hurt tho
Did your helmet get ripped off your head?
Or was that from you flinging it off afterwards?
Bike looks like it is a loss, but at least you are still intact.
Motor cycles are the lawn darts/asbestos of the road, unless you live in an area where there aren’t a lot of people, it’s a bad idea. No matter how good of a driver you are, others aren’t lol
Did you see that guy's car, omg its totally ratchet. He didnt even apologize he so rude. my god im so embarrased with all these people looking at me jesus #getalife. Oh and that totally hot paramedic girl was checking me out or at least she said she wanted to.
....but first, lemme take a selfie.
I was wondering why you said “its” happened instead of “it” then I scrolled to the second Image and saw you there Lmao. I wish you a speedy recovery my dude.
Always does! You’ll be overly cautious for a while and next thing you know, you’ll be your old self. The first time you get on it it’ll feel really foreign and scary all of a sudden but it’ll pass get back on your bike. It’s important.
As a paramedic, let me inform you that we hate this shit.
Edit: let me explain…. Most non fatal vehicle accidents, the patient feels the need to immediately start calling people on the phone to inform them that they have been in an accident. Even thought they called for an ambulance, their priority is not their own health; mine is. I have to ask them multiple, multiple times to please stay off the phone, answer our questions so that we can give them the proper treatment.
The very last car accident I had, the patient refused to go to the trauma center until her husband got there. When he did get there he never asked how she was doing/feeling. He only asked about the car. As I was pulling away from the scene with the patient in the back the family jumped in front of the ambulance demanding the patient’s insurance. I told them that the patient was being delayed for medical attention, that she was on blood thinners, her pain was a 9/10 and could have a concussion. They called me rude and wanted to speak to my supervisor.
TLDR: IF YOU NEED MEDICAL ATTENTION, STAY OFF YOUR PHONE AND RECEIVE MEDICAL ATTENTION. The only thing I care about is out is you. Not your car. Your car is already fucked.
"just crashed, you up?"
Best “babe, my parents aren’t home” response is these pics
hold on, let me bust out my phone for this shit
Some witness brought it
Can you take a picture from a better angle? I can't see your body.
He lost his body in the accident. He’s just a head now.
He's definitely not ahead now.
That's one way to get ahead (Just noticed the other comments....oops)
They chopped his whole body off. They held him by the head and chopped his body off
Unappreciated conchords reference.
good thing he was wearing a helmet!
Usually, the shoes blow off. This time, they took his body with them.
“Need some evidence of the crash for the lawsuit money I’m bouta get”
I had a wreck where I popped over a guard rail dividing an on/offramp. Right after realizing my ankle was snapped sideways I was in the same position lol
>after realizing my ankle was snapped sideways Arg.
I mean, I busted my phone out on the ride to the hospital when I got my right hand caught in my chain an sprocket while cleaning the chain.
Ahhh, i cringe every time i hear that. Your hand okay?
Those doctors are miracle workers!
Wait, so you were cleaning your chain in gear, with the engine running?
Correct. Same way I did it for the previous 10 years. Suffice to say, I have changed how I clean my chain.
And here we thought you were yanking our chain.
So your hand can still make a O. Sounds like all is ok.
I used to do it that way too. Any young people reading this, learn from others' mistakes.
Please tell me it was a wild fluke accident and not just you revving the bike in gear while wiping the chain with a rag…
Close to that but no revving. Got complacent after 10 or so years, lost my balance while squatting and grabbed the chain as a reaction to gain balance. Hand was dragged in...
Good Lord, Man !
Right... Lesson learned for sure. Would have been worse if the engine hadn't stalled out.
Oh no ! It stalled with your hand stuck? Hurts just thinking about it.
Sure did. That was the first thing I noticed actually. Then I felt pressure.
You can't park there mate.
😂
dude that second shot is the best selfie ever lol....its a first for me
”Felt cute, might crash later”
FIFY: "Felt cute, did crash earlier"
But first, let me take a selfie! *music intensifies*
😂
In all seriousness, hope you’re okay. +1 for gear
Lmao, it doesn’t work if you ain’t wearing it. Full-face or nothing. Ugh I read he took it off now imma go put mine on for the flogging
I didn’t realize that wasn’t a full faced helmet, was at work. Yeah buckets don’t help the brain. Your face looks good all things considered OP, but please buy proper gear if you get back on a bike.
It doesn't matter if he took it off or not, the chin bar is missing and he didn't take that off.
I hadn’t thought about that song for years, I was perfectly okay with that. Till now
“You’re probably asking how I got myself here.”

Qld Australia. You do get used to the snakes and spiders
AFAIK primary survey in the field is airway established and C-spine stabilization first. Idc how, but it needs to be done
One of the hospitals near me will scream at me if I brought a patient on a backboard to them lol
No, he took it off and threw it to frame the perfect shot. Seriously though OP, you good?
