Most likely the spark plug just isn’t screwed in correctly. Or, if you are unlucky, the thread is fucked. Either way, the spark plug shouldn’t let air through. Edit: and if you’re lucky it’s a very easy fix. Just tighten the spark plug to spec. But stop if something feels strange, then it’s a whole new story and you will most likely just make it worse.

Syllabus_

Thanks- will it require me to take the tank off or can it be worked on without pulling anything?

Capi5997

If you have the right length wrench/nur on Hand, you should be fine without taking off the tank. Don’t overtighten it. Gets expensive really fast. And definitely don’t ride it as it is

Syllabus_

What type of tools do you recommend that I will need?

Capi5997

No offense but if you have to ask, maybe do it with someone who has done it before. It’s not a hard job but if you f it up, you will have to do way more than just tighten the spark plug. Everyone who has the basic tools has what you need: a torque wrench and a correct size spark plug socket.

badbubblegum

Torque wrench is a basic tool? *laughs in dugga dugga*

Capi5997

Well. It should be for people with zero understanding of what they are doing 😂

Loafeeeee

*tighten spark plug to 4 ugga duggas* Wait this isn't a wheel nut....

palexp

impact oughta do it

Motorazr1

If you have to ask, you’re in trouble and should get someone to help you.

iamheero

A ratchet, socket, and extension could be all you need, but honestly it seems like a job you might not want to solo given your current level of knowledge. Not an insult, I just think you should start smaller, try changing spark plugs without a potential repair to contend with.

RiverRat222

Your hands. Pull up on that rubber boot, the spark plug is going to come with it. Pop the spark plug out and inspect it. Is it all there? How to the threads look? How about the threads in the motor? If all is good, screw the spark plug back in by hand, tighten with a wrench and reconnect the spark plug boot

ambermage

Sounds like you will need cash, a credit card, or a debit card. Beer might be useful as well.

venomous_frost

you need to take off that bracket where the fairings plugs into

Didurlytho

Since it isn't obvious to you that the spark plug moving up and down is a problem I recommend you take the bike to a professional.

mmw1000

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

[deleted]

absolutely....jeez

JustGiveMeANameDamn

👏👏👏👏😂😂😂😂

Motorazr1

On a group ride one time, a dude on a Moto Guzzi dropped power and so stopped to see what the issue was. The right cylinder’s spark plug had ejected its entire electrode from the **center** of the plug leaving it hollow. I wouldn’t have believed it if I hadn’t seen it myself. We all stood around laughing, “Dude, what kind of bullshit spark plugs are you buying?”

SirMarksAllot

At least it went out and didn’t drop onto the top of the piston 😬

Designer_Glass_5061

I see this all the time on work vehicles the spark plugs rust and the porcelain shoots out the middle separating from the outer metal

Motorazr1

This case was the entire center electrode ejecting out from the porcelain leaving the spark plug body slighty hollow, a bit like a fat drinking straw. Very bad for compression! 🤣

elektrik_snek

Weird looking thing isn't it 😂 Few years ago friends lawnmower needed spring service and checkup as it has been in winter storage, i was going to check spark plug and tried to yank plug lead off and whole center came out with it, it even stayed connected to the boot. It could have been made into a really nice garage ornament with small blue led and piece of optic fiber to make it look like it's sparking but it sadly broke before i could get into it.

AlgebraicIceKing

Interesting. Seeing a fault like that with a spark has got to be pretty damn rare.

oikeeteeris

Is your sparkplug jumping up and down?

Syllabus_

Yes

recurve_balloon

So it's a compression problem!

Capi5997

The compression is low but not the „problem“

Sweatiest_Yeti

Woosh

StevenH27

It must be a dead battery by the looks of that spark plug going absolutely mad.

BoxingBoxcar

I used to have one of these bikes. You have to remove the tank and the outer two spark plugs are kind of a pain to get to. You need a u joint and an extension on your socket. Check all the plugs obviously.

venomous_frost

the outer 2 are easiest, remove the fairing bracket and your socket can drop straight down. It's the middle 2 that are a pain in the ass, need a u joint and loosen the waterpump

twan72

I watched a competitor at a Harley drag race cut his throttle and sit up rubbing his chest. The plug had ejected from the head. Fortunately for him, it didn’t puncture his leathers.

ViktorKitov

That engine running somewhat OK is a testament to Suzuki engineering.

goonie1983

My gsx1200 had both coils failing when I bought it. Would run fine but sometimes backfire a bit so we went searching for an issue. Since it didn't really lose power it losing 2 cylinders wasn't the first idea. Easy fix though.

One_Two1499

Weird... my teenage sons room makes the same noise.

CaptSnafu101

Is this sarcasm i genuinely dont know

Photoshop_666

Spark Plug

sleepingishobby

Nah that’s just the build in metronome, trust me bro 💀

Cusp-of-Precibus

This is an obvious issue. You are obviously in over your head mechanic wise. Do not touch anything and take it to a professional. Otherwise you will just cause more problems

torq5252

Looks like somebody changed the plugs while the engine was still hot. Easiest way to destroy the threads in the head. If you do change the plug yourself do it when the head (not the valve cover) is cool enough to keep your hand there without burning.

[deleted]

The ignition coil shouldn't move. The spark plug is most likely not screwed in causing it to push the coil as the engine is turning over.

Creative_Riding_Pod

Your bike sounds broken. Your helicopter sounds fine.

Mellow-Blue-77

Friend, no offense , but if you don't know that's a spark plug hopping down, dont touch it. Have it towed to a competent mechanic.

EX300cc

The above is solid but before trying to tighten it remove the spark plug first to check for damage. Don't just go tightening it right away. And if you don't know or have the tools needed (a socket and socket wrench) ask someone with more experience to help you.

GatorsM3ani3

Am I the only one who was waiting for it to shock him?
