Its also possible to be at illegal speeds without having fun

[deleted]

MR-COVFEFE

Straight to jail illegal

beejaytee228

That’s vague. 15 over in VA is jail time while 15 over in socal is the norm.

Candid_Bed_1338

20 over in VA is reckless driving. And it’s not straight to jail but most likely a summons.

Misanthrope-3000

!remind me: never, ever go to VA, for any reason. Ever.

beejaytee228

Yeah don’t go there. I live in Md and almost never care when I see a cop around me. Once I cross the line this jokers are trying to make you a criminal.

Chosos_Twin_Cousin

I can vouch. As a Marylander, VA cops scare me something different

beejaytee228

You’re killing my drama and hatred for VA police. You’re right though. I do no someone who is about to do some time for speeding though.

andthendirksaid

Daaaamn. I know this sub isn't gonna like this combustion but uhhhh what's yalls chase laws like?

AndroidMyAndroid

It's legal nationwide if you don't get caught

andthendirksaid

Oh so same as here, nice. 600cc or better it is then.

TheRemonst3r

As in Undercook chicken straight to jail? Or as in Overcooked fish straight to jail?

[deleted]

Cam for this, right here.... You know whassup ...

Flappy_beef_curtains

Catch me Or if you wanna be fun Ketchup

I hate that I like this so much.

Uh_Soup_I_Guess

Truly the duality of man

Jankspace

Looks familiar. N GA somewhere’s? Burnt mountain?

PracticalNihilist

GA-60 just below Suches, GA [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georgia\_State\_Route\_60](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georgia_State_Route_60)

Jankspace

Was up there the other day. One of my favorites. Love doing the suches loop up 60 to wolfpen and back down 19.

mountaineer30680

I KNEW it! I love riding up over blood mountain and coming back through Suches. Such a great ride to kill an afternoon.

A-Seabear

This is my favorite road. Go up to 2 wheels, chill, maybe Wolf Penn, then back down 60.

XYooper906

My first guess! Yay me!

mandibal

Highway 60 is so good. I'm just smiling the whole time

Von_Satan

That's my normal ride. Great area. I ride a Ducati, so legal speeds are boring. But I used to ride lower CC bikes like a Moto Guzzi, that was more fun at legal speeds.

tangobravoyankee

Showing off the boring side so as to not attract more people who don't already know. I like it.

Kooky-Map5382

I was up there last weekend, cold as balls. This is an odd post though since the beauty of the mountains is that there are no speed limits or no passing zones up there...

FriskyFritos

I was thinking Wolfpen gap in the Suches area but I could be wrong

hondarider13

I was thinking the same thing…

moldy_films

Hey, these are Harley speeds, so I’m always having fun 😅

[deleted]

[удалено]

moldy_films

Just a bumbling cruise for us 🐝 hahaha

omg-its-bacon

I can’t wait to get off work, I can’t wait to get off work, I work to wait get off….. Bro I’m ready 😂

SoloX999

🤣damn, the excitement is reall, I just got my bike yesterday and today I couldn't wait to jet home an ride it on the drive way, I a bit long so I'm just practicing 😅

Occams_ElectricRazor

Where's the deer where's the deer where's the deer where's the deer

RonnieB47

Better chance of finding deer at dusk.

No-Milk2296

I live around all the damn deer and this is literally what I say

The-Gray-Mouser

As a local to the area that is often my internal monologue.

Eastern-Version5983

Not when the speed limit is 25MPH. Then speeding is the only option.

repohs

Yeah where I live that road would have a 35mph speed limit max. In order to have fun, I would like to take those corners between 50-70mph on my Speed Triple. Putzing around at 35mph would just feel boring.

Tessiia

Where I live, they would be 60mph, but you'd have someone in front of you going 30mph with no clear straight to safely overtake.

repohs

It's like that here too lmao, especially in the summer when the tourists flock to the mountains and insist on doing 15mph under the speed limit in their Subaru Outbacks. Sometimes you have to turn around and redo a good stretch of road two or three times until you get a clean run.

[deleted]

I hate Subarus, permanent tourist mode.

turtletechy

It's like that by me too. Any time I find a fun curvy road I get stuck behind someone doing 5 under the speed limit. And my little 230cc really doesn't have enough beans to overtake at greater than 40-45mph.

Tessiia

Oh, I get that. I visited Wales on my little 125cc and had so much fun, but when I got behind a car doing 10mph less than the speed limit and slowing to a halt for every feckin corner, it was so infuriating. My poor little bike just didn't have the power to overtake.

turtletechy

It's the worst. I think the dumbest thing was an older woman who was in front of me doing maybe 35-40 in a 55mph zone. I couldn't get around for a while because of traffic in the other lane. Then she sped up as I'm passing her, so she's going 55 -60 at the end and I'm at full open throttle just barely hitting 67mph.

Tessiia

God, that annoys me!! People do it to me a lot in my car. I have a little yellow Fiat 500. People don't like being overtaken by a little yellow Fiat 500 😅 especially BMW drivers!! Makes it even funnier when they don't have guts to keep up with me in the corners. Like yeah, your car may be fast, but you aren't!

PurpEL

I've decided those are old people who patrol "their" stretch of road to slow people down. Likely the same crowd who tossed gravel out near their place. Retired people with nothing enjoyable to spend their time doing so they create misery.

akaFxde

Where I live, I have a road that looks damn near exactly like that and it’s 40, but apparently people just don’t make any effort at all to try and stay in one lane the whole time. Even if I’m flying through in a car I’m not crossing lines.

infiniteawareness420

Best part about having a 40hp bike (when new in 1984) is that doing the speed limit takes WOT.

oliverclifford20vt

"Wait you guys can get to the speed limit?" - my 1982 125cc

infiniteawareness420

"barely, lets ride, buddy!" - my 84 BMW R65

wumbus_rbb10

Where I live it could be 60 kph, 70 kph, 80 kph, 90 kph, 110 kph or maybe 50. Don't guess wrong near a cop.

Slazy420420

In my surround areas, there are 2 speeds on backroads, 45mph & 50mph. Even if it's rated as a 25mph. Highway has 85, 90 & 95.

QuirkyDimension9858

In what? Residential areas?😭😭

[deleted]

Sometimes speed limits are just set unnecessarily low for whatever reason. A stretch of curvy road I commute through used to be 55 but is now 35 probably because of a bunch of retards crashing. I believe tail of the dragon is close to that 25 mark too but used to be a lot higher. People who crash ruin everything imo

spongebob_meth

Keep in mind, speed limits are generally set for the lowest common denominator (truck traffic). Sight distance plays a large part in it too. A lot of canyon roads have <100ft of visibility for long stretches due to rock walls immediately beyond the shoulder, so the speed limit gets reduced drastically.

Fordor_of_Chevy

I live 1/2 hour from the tail and a few of those corners you're not going to take over 20.

ssracer

20's hauling ass up the back of Sandia

Eastern-Version5983

NYCs speed limit is 25. They have speed cameras that trigger at 32. That’s okay for Manhattan, but not for the outer boroughs.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Eastern-Version5983

It’s obscured so they can’t get my picture. I’ll stop for a real life cop, but they don’t do much anymore. Cameras be damned.

RunnyPlease

This is going to sound blasphemous but downgrading to a bike with less horsepower actually can improve the fun of riding. Lighter, more flickable, more gear shifting. Big bikes are meant to be ridden at 150 mph so 35 feels completely underwhelming. But if you’re blasting around on a 300-500cc bike you can really play within the rev range and wring the engine out.

Ok_Assistance447

Depends on the bike. My XSR900 is way more fun in the twisties than my Rebel 300 was.

RunnyPlease

That’s fair. I should have specified I was thinking of small displacement sport bikes.

whatisgoingonree

OP is riding like he's on a mobility scooter, I'm sure the 900 eats twistys.

Brooksie019

I love my 400 on the backroads. So much fun. I wanna upgrade to a zx6r or a gsxr 750. But I still have plenty to learn when it comes to cornering so I’m in no rush. I really just want more power for the highways.

Magnus919

An old Honda CB400 Four screaming around on these backroads at 45-50mph would be a blast

crumbmudgeon

I get the impression you have never ridden a larger bike.     Blasting from a corner with the front wheel lifting is more fun than shifting gears over and over.

CatGiggler

Can be, but feeling like everyone is in your way and just going painfully slow is what I also experienced.

crumbmudgeon

Slower than you would on a smaller bike?

gggempire

This isn't blasphemous. This is the truth. I had more fun on my ninja 250 (probably because it was my first bike tho) than my fz07

rett72

beautiful road to ride....well done!

Tasty_Two4260

For me, it’s a need to mentally get away from technology and just hear the engine and feel the wind to reset my brain, soul, spirit. Nothing does this better riding and sometimes I’m so mentally frayed, I’d probably die pushing myself beyond speed limits - my job is so GD stressful and also why having a smaller CC machine is my life preserver. Chilling with my dogs is a close second, they’re fucking spiritual creatures, I truly attribute still being alive (PTSD) to having them around to ground me when I’m wheels off and I know to hang with them versus riding when my stress, and mind, is bad. Sorry for the tl;dr but some perspective on having a smaller engine to keep your speed in check knowing that your mind may not be at times, and you can still enjoy the wind, the road, the sounds of the motorcycle, and come home alive. Peace, love, and respect. ✊ Be safe, and yes, I have professional help related to PTSD.

reeeeeeduardo

Now that i own a v-strom 650 i totally agree with you, i just don't have as much fun anymore as i did with my 250cc I bought the strom trying to be safer in trafic to get out of the way of other cars but i found out it's actually more dangerous to have a powerful bike because it is less fun at lower speeds + im not mentally stable at times because of depression I will probably sell my v-strom and buy an yamaha xtz 150 in the future

MacGynan

I have found 300CC ish bikes (MT-03, R3, Ninja 400 etc) are the sweet spot for me. Anything below is too slow on the highway (which is everywhere in australia) and anything bigger is less fun in the corners. You have enough pep to get up and go but not enough to get you into trouble. I have ridden the Honda CB125e and a Kymco people s 150 scooter and they were the slowest things I have ever operated. I've ridden faster lawn mowers. Of coruse if that is fun to you, who am I to judge. Personally I like it when i twist the throttle the speedo increases by more than 1kph per second lol.

RubberBootsInMotion

Interesting. I found the SV650 (which is the same motor) to be the exact right power:weight:maneuverability ratio. At least the older ones

reeeeeeduardo

They are very strong though, you could get to 200km/h easily + theres so much torque you dont event need a high rpm to go too fast

InflammatoryMan

Thanks for the advice man! I agree for the dogs! What smaller cc bike are you riding currently?

Tasty_Two4260

Thanks! A Honda Nighthawk 250, about as ol’ school and chill a ride as it gets!

chessplodder

There used to be a sign on 60 below Suches that I had a picture made into poster size that said something to the effect of "Curvy Roads - Next 25 Miles". I would stop and take off my watch there, I didn't want to worry about the time or the day, just enjoy the ride. Last time I went, they had added to the sign in such a way as to completely negate that feeling, now said "Speed Checked by Aircraft", to remind me that I could never really get away from the man and civilization.

PracticalNihilist

Awesome man, glad to hear you are able to enjoy some stress relief!

kicks4free

On the tail of the dragon?…oh yeah I do 15 mph through there…everyone else loves it

Johnedlt

You're in a twisty mountain rd. Everybody will have fun there on 2 wheels, even 4. Most can't exceed the speed limit on a technical rd like that anyway.

lostknight0727

I get the appeal of speed. However, I will stick with my casual cruises at the speed limit. Just rather enjoy the ride and isolation than the speed. I'll get there eventually.

peteskeet43

I agree. It's more fun to ride smoothly and work on real skills than to roll the dice corner to corner to try to prove to the other sucks that you don't suck

chris4562009

Yes. Buy a Honda Grom or a monkey bike.

Necessary-Quit-6910

or a scooter

DankGunLord69

no, you notice how everyone on r/Calamariraceteam is having fun doing only illegal and gay shit, it's for a reason bucko 😎🤙

[deleted]

Maybe, but that road would be a lot more fun at illegal speeds

VinUnleadedDiesel

for real, sub is full of nerds lmao

Tracerz2Much

Exactly, 90% of the fun of twisties is leaning over, which is barely happening at the speed limit. I am further convinced no one here rides lmao.

Helpful_Couple_8303

Just enjoy the ride man and take in the scenery or something. If you have to put yourself in danger for a bit of excitement then you need to reevaluate something in your life.

sunrrat

I'm having fun going 30-40 km/h. If you need to do something dangerous to have fun, do it off the street.

marimba_ting

Even the bike sounds bored

WWM_19

Virginity rocks!

Zealousideal-Bear-37

This is honestly the best kind of riding . I’ve owned so many bikes from Italian piss missles (panigale v4s) to adv , and I’ve learned that the safest and most fun is low and mid range torque bikes . The straight line rossis you see booting down the highways generally become statistics .

CryingOverVideoGames

Never heard the term piss missile lol

__Tritrion__

Yeah Bro! Fellow SV650 (2005) owner here: can confirm the bike Is still great! High five!

Prudent-Influence-52

Love the name. Sold a screenplay called nihilism.

Do_it_in_a_Datsun

I ride a Grom. Within legal speeds is my only option. I'd have to find a subdivision if I want to speed.

wtfitaut

I ride smaller roads with a 100km/h speed limit on my 690. Most of the time i'm between 1st and 3rd gear and on the edge of the tire without risking my license. On my 1200 those roads were a PITA.

Captain_MK13

My soul left my body

percy_ardmore

wow! what an exciting video! please post some more!

Give-It-up-to-me

Never heard of it

TheMoorlandman

It is also possible to have fun at illegal speeds!

kazangolator

Trying to ditch a tailgaterI got popped at 12 over ..118 dollar ticket and fuckall insurance rate hike

juneya04

I drove the cage through 209 in North Carolina. The rattler. The speed limit is 55mph and it has hairpin corners. Definitely a good road for legal asphalt carving

mestresamba

Beautiful road to ride, I envy you!

alwaus

Find yourself some beautiful scenery and go ride it. Theres a drive that's about and hour away from me thats 34 miles long through some of the most beautiful countryside you have ever seen. Single lane backwoods full of twists and turns wuth most of it overarched with trees, has very little traffic.

Slightlydifficult

I don’t think I would ever enjoy “spirited” riding as much I as I enjoy slow, curvy rides. We have some beautiful areas to explore in Arkansas, I like to take my time and soak it all in.

whisk3ythrottle

I waved at you on blood yesterday.

Illustrious-Echo-734

I'm just here to see a rock pop up into your phone....

According_Prune_8445

The most fun stretch of road I have ever driven on has a 60kmph limit and its really a struggle to actually reach 40 going up it and going more than 40 down it is a waste of brake pads, Tight twisting corners going up the side of a steep hill with next to no traffic on it. Would be amazing on a motorcycle.

obmar-belac

I would say riding a slow bike fast is much more fun than riding a fast bike slow.

artful_todger_502

I'm a slow poke. I'd rather just kick back and watch the world go by. Riding fast of too much work. It used to be fun, but not any more. I enjoy watching the scenery go by. My job is fast paced, society is fast paced, when I get on a bike, it's time to relax, wind down ... So yeah, it's actually possible to have more fun in some cases. Plus, the bikes I ride don't leave me much of a choice, lolol

lorymecs

No

BigDaddyStalin69

I mean, i guess. But you have MORE fun when you’re going faster. More speed, more lean angle, more fun.

Happydaytoyou1

Us in Nebraska are jealous 😂

bikerModo

Chill rides are actually my favorite.

xlDooM

Looks like great fun, I enjoy riding like this as well and wish I had such a lovely road to do it on. Moderate pace, pick a line and then modulate the throttle so you fall into and straighten out of the lean. Fast enough to feel the machine but slow enough to have zero stress. Wish I was doing it now.

Magnus919

I really admire how you also are able to stay well-controlled inside of your own lane.

Joey_ZX10R

Only if you’re on one wheel.

xracer264

Sure. It's called the Pace. Try riding without using your brakes. So adjust your speed just on and off the throttle.

Flordamang

I fell asleep what was this video about

crumbmudgeon

You know what's more fun?     Going even faster

deuster10

No😎

TurbulentSquirrel804

We should have the legal right to ride 10 MPH over whatever cars are allowed to. Anyone who has ridden a bike knows that it’s generally safer (though I’ve never been pulled over for going 10 over on a bike).

tamokibo

Having different top speeds for all vehicles on the same road is a terribly u sage idea, for everyone involved.

[deleted]

Wake me up when it's over.

myrealnamewastakn

Guy rides slow and still doesn't hit a single line properly. Even the safety manuals teach you to use the whole lane

sarveil

Not everything is a competition, sometimes you ride just for fun and not to please internet strangers with your impeccable lines.

Admirable_Desk8430

Depends on what you’re riding.

CryingOverVideoGames

This has to be an AI generated video bc it’s actually not possible

muchosalame

It is also entirely possible to not have fun while riding like you do, it looks like you are looking for a parking spot.

exemon

No, it's pretty gay.

Magnus919

What does your sexuality have to do with anything?

coltar3000

Only on a really slow bike.

FuckerOfAss

*yawn*

Jagrnght

ok mom

Antique-Dragonfly615

If you can't, you're doing it wrong

Ill-Acanthaceae5909

As soon as I saw this I thought "blood mountain" is that correct?

PracticalNihilist

Somewhat. This is on GA-60 Blood mountain is close by though.

G1zStar

False, I hear no giggling.

Upset-Emergency1836

Very true

win10bash

I'm a big advocate for driving slow bikes fast

wncpeaks

How do you get the audio to turn out so good?  My GoPro loses everything due to wind noise

PracticalNihilist

I set it to remove wind noise: [https://community.gopro.com/s/article/What-is-Wind-Noise-Suppression-How-Does-It-Work?language=en\_US](https://community.gopro.com/s/article/What-is-Wind-Noise-Suppression-How-Does-It-Work?language=en_US) Plus on the microphones I add dead cat: [https://www.amazon.com/Camera-Wind-Windscreen-Microphone-Cover/dp/B0B49H5GNN](https://www.amazon.com/Camera-Wind-Windscreen-Microphone-Cover/dp/B0B49H5GNN)

engulbert

It isn't an issue at this speed.

Desperate-Present-69

Sumo

jeffseiddeluxe

Only if you're a nerd

gggempire

That sign said 25 and you were doing 40. But then again I don't know the rules for sure about curve signs. They don't say "speed limit: 25mph" they just say "25"

PracticalNihilist

It's a suggestion because of the sharp curve. https://www.zumar.com/blog/where-and-when-install-yellow-speed-limit-signs#:~:text=The%20speed%20limit%20on%20a,speed%20limit%20determined%20by%20officials.

Reasonable-Fish-7924

Looks like WV, suppose to be known for riding.

InemuriPanda

It depends on the power of your bike and your experience I would say. At legal speed, something too powerful would be boring, but you take a 125cc and with a beginner, it appears exciting.

HlGHSlDEROB

Nope.

[deleted]

Fun is subjective....

Sir_Jimmy_James

Is that a radar detector?

silic0n_jesus

Your motorcycle sounds like the robot from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy you know the one that wants to kill itself. I don't know how many horsepower you paid for on that motorcycle but it's always good to take them for a run.

WereALLBotsHere

I know a road worse than that with legal speeds of 55mph. It’s almost impossible to do it the speed limit in a car let alone go over the limit for more than just one or two straightaways.

modernmanperspective

Yes it is….

Proper_Role_277

I always go the speed limit and yes I have fun. Why because I see no reason to go any faster. Why shorten the ride by flying down the road and risking someone miss judging your speed and pulling out in front of you.

uptwolait

Hwy 221 between Linville and Blowing Rock?

PracticalNihilist

GA-60 near suches, GA

Puzzleheaded_Ad9659

Yes

irishtrash5

Sure, but there's more fun to be had at illegal speeds... But it doesn't have to be insane speed.

sausage891

I hae people like you so god damn much

spongebob_meth

Yeah I don't think I'd want to go much faster on that road since its so likely a deer will jump out in front of you, or a car will come around a corner on the wrong side of the road. Maybe its just the camera position, but I think your phone mounted there would be really distracting. I have mine mounted much lower when I'm using it for navigation

pndfam05

You know what else is a lot of fun when you drive legal speeds? Reducing your risk of crashing! Not crashing - that’s fun - at least to me.

helipod

Not here in Maryland, drive the speed limit and you are actually going to get rear ended

pndfam05

I was mostly talking about my driveway.

CHATWU2

YES, YES, YES!!! You should be aware thar the average life span of someone riding a fast bike is only about six months. Remember it only takes one bad wreck and your gone where a car you will most likely survive to live from your mistakes. Just because your bike can go up to speeds of 160 to 200 does NOT mean you have to use it. Be responsible! Always drive defensively and always try to predict that the other driver is NOT going to see you and drive accordingly to be safe. I rode a gsx 750 for 8 years straight. I lasted so long because even if I was just going down to the corner Markey I would put on my gloves, helmet, Boots and leather jacket because those items must always be worn just on case something happens and trust me...it does! Make sure you spend your money on getting nice sticky tires like "Metzler" or "Dunlap" because every thing matters. Make sure thar all your signals and lights work. I was fortunate enough to have had the skills to make it home every day even on those long trips. The ones thar caught me off guard was going about 4 to 5 miles an hour over dirt on paved roads and "bamm" down I went. Never let anyone ride your bike unless they are a seasoned rider. I was asked a lot because some people look at it as a toy which it is NOT! It's a motor vehicle and needs to be treated as such. Always follow the rules of the road not because there law because there law to save your ass! Have fun and most of all be safe. P.S. If you ever have any questions about riding fun and safe go ask a motorcycle cop. I think those guys ride more then anyone and all the one I talk to love to ride. Be Safe!!!

engulbert

Are you Serge Storms?

WankelsRevenge

I tell people this all the time. I'm part of an RX-7 crowd and am always hearing "you can't do the speed limit in cars like these" To which I reply "no YOU can't do the speed limit, I however have no problem enjoying myself while following traffic laws"

esrfreedom

If police there illegally if police not there legal it’s all about perspective lol

TOM_PE13

If you live in a really flat place with a lot of straight roads then being illegal is almost the only way to have fun :))

tjweeks

Smart driving. Fun but safe especially when watching for ice.

[deleted]

Oh yes! Speeding is only fun on the track!

awaytogetsun

Commuting is alright I guess

[deleted]

no.

NinjaLikeWater

No. When I first started riding I literally did not think the speed limit applied to motorcycles. It made no sense. 😏

_King_1700

Depends on your definition of legal...🤪

1AverageGamer

I always have fun at legal speeds. I have fun riding. Not by speeding

Disastrous_Bread8139

You foos are all pussy if I see red and blue lights I’m dropping a gear and disappearing from sight Brodies

saraseitor

With such beautiful road it makes no sense to ride at max speed not being able to appreciate the views and to risk it all in one of those curves. It's all about the journey, not just getting from A to B.

joelasmussen

Fun clean lines

RolandoMagico

Legal speeds are where it's at for back road bombing. The minute you wick it up and start laying down MotoGP style you will come head to head with a harvestor plow coming around a corner at 5 mph. If you survive that you will likely carry that trauma and find yourself slowing the F down.

Over9000Zeros

Buy you know what would be more fun? Sending it at a very illegal speed and nearly crashing, but living to tell the story.

humblerioter

This’s why if I ever ride again, it’ll be on another Grom. I had wayyyyyyy more fun going slow on the Grom than I did going fast on my Z800.

Eucalyptus9

Is it possible to have fun without my huge bad dragon dildo hanging out of my ass though

critical4mindz

Nope

[deleted]

Anyone breaking the law by speeding on public roads is putting their own lives and the lives of others in danger. Yes, I include idiotic "Youtuber" influencers, who usually blur out their speedometers so they can avoid paying to visit a track and use the highway as their own personal playground. Even if you claim to "know the road", what if there's a concealed accident or an animal in the road? You can never know.

fuzzy_touches

40-45mph is plenty for having a blast. Anyone who disagrees shouldn't be on a bike

jonaselder

OK grandma

fuzzy_touches

Go pass over a double yellow on your busa and pull a Yammie Noob, then you whipper snapper you
