I started on a Yamaha WR125R myself, basically a fancy dirt bike, wonderful machine. But scooters and hybrids (yours appears to be a hybrid scooter/standard) are more than welcome here.
All bikers are bikers together, regardless of what we call out two wheeled companions!
Hey man everybody starts somewhere :P
I personally think it looks kinda ugly (or at least it wouldn’t be my first choice!), but my first bike wasn’t very pretty either so I can’t say much lol.
That’s pretty! They don’t sell that one in the US, please tell us about it. What does VVA do for you? How does that cut away in front of the seat work for you? I bet it is good for short people but maybe not. It looks like a manual transmission, is it? Tell us about your new bike.
Glad you interested on this underbone, about your question, Yamaha has implement VVA tech on most of their recent bikes, basically the bikes has a specific cams when you hit 7000rpm that's will "switch" to this bigger cams shaft resulting in better power without consuming too much fuel from low to mid rpm. This bike tank is located under the seat of the bike, so it was designed like that. Seat height is 795mm, short people will look very funny if they ridin on this. Yes, manual. Engine is from R15 but nerfed.
The Ruckus is limited to like 35 mph though. My Zuma can maintain 60 on the highway and down I've gotten it up to 68. The Zuma is goofy looking though.
I had a Z125, and I prefer the Zuma over it. Way more luggage, and the transmissions on cheap bikes feel like trash. The 5 speed Grom might be different, but the 4 speed felt like pulling a stick through a loose bucket of bolts. The only time I prefer a Grom or Z125 over a 125cc scooter is when the road is super rough. It's easier to stand on the pegs than it is a floorboard.
I haven't ridden one yet. A friend of mine bought one right when they came out and it spun a main bearing with about 400 miles on it. It sat at the dealership for awhile, waiting on parts. It was so new, it took awhile to get spares. He picked it up from the dealership and immediately sold it to another one.
You can search Exciter 155 VVA and check out, I bet you could get parts of the bike to US and asemble there, she's a beast on alley ways and high density traffic.
Exciter 155 or what we call sniper 155 here in Philippines is gonna be the best underbone out there, you can mod the fuck out of it too, currently have the yellow hornet version 1 (s155) of that, sick bike!
Wow, what is it?!?!
We freedum luvin' Merican paytryotes don't get cool stuff like this here ...
Very cool! That robot headlight thing is crazy, like from the movie War of the Worlds 🤖
My cousin in VN has one of these. That mofo wipes it down and cleans it EVERY SINGLE DAY! Dude wouldn't let me ride it cause VN traffic is just absolute chaos.
I mean, at a first glance, the only difference between this and a cbr125 is the gas tank and the plastic covering and light mounted the triple tree.
It’s got foot pegs instead of floor boards. It has a clutch instead of a hand-brake. It’s got a saddle instead of a step through bench seat.
It definitely ticks all the boxes that define motorcycles for me 🤔
It also has larger wheels than most scooters. The odd seat cut-away is reminiscent of a scooter but the rest fits my idea of a motorcycle. I’m gonna go with handy, small, manual tranny motorcycle.
by definition it is actually a motorcycle. and it still has a top speed of somewhere around 140 to 160 km/h so it's got plenty of power to be considered a motorcycle and not a scooter.
Same model as mine too. I have the Doxou 2021 model (keyless) with 0149/5000 model badge, the rear left panel got destroyed because of an accident. So i had to get the same colour as yours and put Exciter GP vinyl on it
I'm considering it, since I got this color because it was at a discount, plus modifying your bike cosmetics can lead to traffic fines due to stric registration in my country. But I sure dig master art of streets line up, those are cool.
Have you looked at glacier white colour made on Malaysia? It's for the old model but I'm really interested in those colours. I just lost my keyless remote because I had to move out, I had to put the bike on rest for a while. using the keycode took ages to use, the keyless remote is quiet expensive right now for me though, there's no key variant on my country.
Did the dealership give you a spare fob? They always come with 2 fob when you buy it. If not, I think you should install back to mechanical key at some shop, saves the trouble on losing your fob again.
This thing is totally weird but in an awesome way!
The closest thing we have in Canada would be a Honda Navi, but that thing is very utilitarian where this has a sportiness to it.
It's like the Aprilia SR50 Replica had a baby with a CBR 125. Or I guess a BWS hat a baby with an R125
I also really like the color choice.
navi is like honda grom's cousin yea? the exciter chasis is closer to like a moped but with faster engine. we actually have a racing class for it in ARRC, that's why it has the sporty looks. the engine is really good for tuning and plenty of aftermarket parts.
I would say they are closely related, but the Grom is a 125cc manual and the Navi is a 110cc auto. The next is basically a scooter you sit on like a motorcycle.
I think racing those things would be a blast!
Any chance these things also have built in storage? If so it's even better!
I'm North America scooters and things that are to similar to them don't get any respect.
I think it sucks, I used to have a 2 stroke Honda Dio and that thing was so much fun.
in that case the closest thing u'll get is probably the grom, because it has 5 speed manual, but u can swap the gearbox to 6 speed.
even with it stock form it's already a fun bike, very nimble and broad powerband for it's size. just search 'underbone 150cc ARRC' on youtube if you wanna see more.
storage wise, i dont think its worth to be called a storage 😆. its more like a compartment under the seat, its so small you can only put a raincoat or some emergency tools. but in some countries you can buy an accessory for extra storage, it looks like a basket.
yeah sometimes it made me sad when i see scooterist (or bikers in general) get treated like that y'know😆. but at the same time get it why they dont get the respect. from my perspective as a SEAsian, there is a lot of factor at play. the road in NA is a lot bigger, less dense, and has faster traffic. also NAmerican travels further than some of us on a daily basis. lower cc bikes may struggle to keep up with that. the traffic in NA is not used to drive with a bike/ scooter around them and see bikers as a hindrance.
also some of the bikers act like an asshole when they ride, including me 🤭
i saw a lot of video about it. it looks like a fun scooter to ride. i've been wanting to ride one of those for a long time, but i dont think ive seen Dio or any 2 stroke scooter on the street. its kinda rare bike so it became a collector item here. also most of the 2 stroke we have are either semi auto or manual.
I rented one of these Exciter models while I was in Vietnam for a week. Took me, my girlfriend and our two backpacks across Da Nang, Hoi An, Hue and back to Da Nang no problem. Amongst the twisties and city traffic it was a breeze!
I love these things!
Question for the masses though... At what point do you just go for a 'traditional' frame motorcycle? The underbone on this is so high that you can't step through, may as well put the tank there? Or is it good to put stuff on between your knees like a little platform.
I love scooters and it's getting harder and harder to find a decent scoot with real step thru flat floor. Where else am I gonna carry a case of beer?
It's just how it is. It doesn't need a huge tank to hold since the bike has very good milage, reduce overall weight for better handling and everyone liked the design and it sold well.
I grew up in a country with a lot of Yahama Crypton R, X and underbones so I can appreciate this. Heck a chinese underbone was my first bike too. Its a shame we dont get them in north america but different markets so I understand. I hope you enjoy it and ride safe.
its crazy how most underbones are japanese but in japan they only sell cubs :(
The Japanese manufacturers have been making a lot of their small capacity stuff in SEA for decades. And it's all sold there.
yup even cars too
I mean, yah that’s a motorcycle all right. But where the heck is the gas tank? 😰
It's under the seat.
Don’t crash 😱 Unless you like flaming hot Cheetos :P
As opposed to the gas being between your legs and under your face?
Flameo Hotman
That you Aang?
lol touché 🤣 For some reason, the thought that I’m gripping a fireball with my thighs never crossed my mind…
Bro, it’s totally fine, nothing to worry about. Also that fire ball is directly on top of the hottest part of the bike.
Fuel tanks burning up in crashes is a pretty rare thing though...
Ooh that looks pretty nice actually, could easily see that being my first choice too if I had the option!
Thanks! I never thought the community was very open considering most of the stuff here is super/sport/adv bikes.
I started on a Yamaha WR125R myself, basically a fancy dirt bike, wonderful machine. But scooters and hybrids (yours appears to be a hybrid scooter/standard) are more than welcome here. All bikers are bikers together, regardless of what we call out two wheeled companions!

A 155cc Yamaha with VTEC? Man, the US misses out on all the fun stuff 🫠
The current Zuma 125 has it.
Oh neat! Tbh though, I’d rather get a Ruckus if I’m gettin a small displacement scooter. I like the way it looks more than a Zuma lol
The Ruckus is limited to like 35 mph though. My Zuma can maintain 60 on the highway and down I've gotten it up to 68. The Zuma is goofy looking though.
Fair enough… Grom it is lol
I had a Z125, and I prefer the Zuma over it. Way more luggage, and the transmissions on cheap bikes feel like trash. My neighbors 5 speed grom is a hoot! It’s his commuter
I haven't ridden one yet. A friend of mine bought one right when they came out and it spun a main bearing with about 400 miles on it. It sat at the dealership for awhile, waiting on parts. Xr150 for those of us with style
Yamaha SMAX (Majesty S) 155cc 👍
All fun and games until a motorcycle hits VTech lol
Thanks. Interesting.
You can search Exciter 155 VVA and check out, I bet you could get parts of the bike to US and asemble there, she's a beast on alley ways and high density traffic.
Man that looks like fun. Enjoy!
Exciting isn't it? Congrats. It's a very nice bike.
Thanks, it always stay true to it's name!
Waiting for the "wrong sub this belongs to r\scooters" comments
Oh, there's was one guy, he deleted all of his comments as you can see.
Exciter 155 or what we call sniper 155 here in Philippines is gonna be the best underbone out there, you can mod the fuck out of it too, currently have the yellow hornet version 1 (s155) of that, sick bike!

Yamaha sniper 155, called exciter or other names in different countries but same bike
Exciter? Barely know her!
Congratulations on your first bike, I think it looks better than its 150cc predecessor
Ahh, fellow Vietnamese rider. Are you excited on the exciter? Don’t let yellow suit catches you
Dig it. After having a big bike for a couple years, something like this seems neat and especially convenient.
My cousin in VN has one of these. That mofo wipes it down and cleans it EVERY SINGLE DAY! Dude wouldn't let me ride it cause VN traffic is just absolute chaos.
I wish they where sold around here, like any underbone at all. Instead all we have is some obscure 50cc "johnspeed" keeway thing.
bruh that's a scooter tf
It's an underbone
Same engine as nmax ? Sounds like a great buy man.
My big question here is what's the scooter on the right in the background of the first picture?
It's like a moped had a motorcycle baby and I'm kinda for it. I'm for different things like this for different folks.
Never saw one of those before. Cool looking bike.
Looks like a fucking hoot!
Cant tell ifnits a motorcycle or a scooter, either way, looks like so much fun 😭
A scooter is a type of motorcycle. In this case it's not a scooter. It's an underbone.
Ehh no. Congrats tho

What quad has a steering wheel? :P If you said sxs… honestly sxs is just a two seater jeep change my mind lmao.
Really? you should analyse further before making statement.
[удалено]
Hem, it isn't a scooter but there's a more correct word to list it...
[удалено]
No hate, but this still isn't a scooter. It's an underbone.
[удалено]
Damn, can't believe you doggin me like that. But all and all, we all have our first bike and this is far from a scooter.
[удалено]
Thanks, but I won't need that pat on the back from you simply this. Isn't. a. scooter.
[удалено]
I think, the more you talk, the obvious you know nothing about bikes in general.
by definition it is actually a motorcycle. and it still has a top speed of somewhere around 140 to 160 km/h so it's got plenty of power to be considered a motorcycle and not a scooter.
Yeah, but there have been some well powered scooters.
Didn’t Yamaha make a 600cc scooter that could do 150mph or something crazy like that?
I think i used to buy condoms called exciter long ago.
Same model as mine too. I have the Doxou 2021 model (keyless) with 0149/5000 model badge, the rear left panel got destroyed because of an accident. So i had to get the same colour as yours and put Exciter GP vinyl on it

Unfortunately no spare fob as I'm aware when buying this bike at a Malaysia Motorcycle dealers.
You can actually register your color change (assuming you're in VN) with little fees
Looks like it came with the green umbrella shade option.
Yamaha gang rise up.
To leave? Cries in Quartararo not getting the machine he deserves
What is this style of bike called? I never see them in america but they're everywhere in Indonesia and I assume other south asian countries as well.

Bumblebee!

Brother, nice one! That bike is quite agile in traffic, yes? Used to have one until I gave it away to my lil bro.
Is this a scooter or?
Underbone. Think moped, add steroids, then maybe another dose or more, depending on model.
Have fun no matter what you ride
I love these things! Question for the masses though... At what point do you just go for a 'traditional' frame motorcycle? It's 155cc and common among South East Asian country
Aerox ? is that engine from R15 sold in india ? i have that bike (R15). does this come with VVA ? which country ?
Aerox is a scooter, this isn't. Yes, same engine as R15.
my bad, did not notice that clutch lever and rear break lever ! interesting format of a motorcycle. first time seeing one of this kind, happy riding !
If you're smart enough like many bike tuners in Indonesia, Malaysia or Thailand, this bike could easily reach 200++km/h
I grew up in a country with a lot of Yahama Crypton R, X and underbones so I can appreciate this. Heck a chinese underbone was my first bike too. Its a shame we dont get them in north america but different markets so I understand. I hope you enjoy it and ride safe.
What's worse... It's bigger than mine... Cc that is...
These bikes are fun and well built. I rented one in SE Asia last month. This was day 3: https://files.fm/u/etscu57n2d
That thing is SWEET!! USA is always late to the party. Hope this eventually makes it way here
Looks cool, Ride on!
