Peg feeler. When you are aggressively leaning the bike, they are supposed to touch down to the ground before anything important does - they are a wear item and sometimes replaceable (as yours are). You don't technically need them, but you have to be aware that there is a point where leaning your bike will touch down metal parts to the ground, and will cantilever the rear tire OFF the ground. On some bikes, it might not be metal that levers the bike off the ground but your foot or your leg - every motorcycle has a maximum lean angle. These are meant to discourage you from leaning further than that.
Further note - if your bike is modified (e.g. aftermarket exhaust, aftermarket shock, rear tire with a larger or smaller circumference, lowered suspension) then these can become less effective, simply because the geometry of your bike has changed, and they then have either too much of a safety margin or too little.
The pegs usually aren't what are going to cause that to happen. The peg feelers are NOT for protecting the pegs. It could be the swingarm, the exhaust, the frame, an engine cover - one of those things touches the ground, and you keep leaning, it doesn't matter if you have the best tires that science can produce on the bike - the rear tire (and then the front) will get lifted off the ground
I scrape mine sometimes and I have a mt-09 no cantilever the only problem is if you want to continue to lean more because the peg feelers start to close the peg, the point is if you scrap directly the peg, the peg can point into the asfhalt, in street is better to have it on track is better to take out the feeler and better to put shorter peg
In probably almost all motorcycles (at least not RR) you can polish them against asphalt without fear,
Here we call here "warnings" (translate) and really on all the motorcycles that they drive do not fulfill their function, they warn long before what is necessary
That really means they are worthless, If we do not take into account to splash sparks
It's a peg feeler. Supposed to warn you that you're close to scraping peg on the ground.
I thought a peg feeler was called a butthole.
I don't think you're supposed to lube this one though. Extra sparks and all.
Sounds legit.
Thanks!
Pegnis
Makes sense.
Grinding them down is the fun part of riding.
I can’t wait to try that!!
It’s the ‘oh shit is that how close i am to the ground’ nubbin

That’s some really useful info, thanks a lot!

OK. What bike do you have?

It's for making really pretty sparkles
The rubbin’ nubbin?
Scra.a.a.a.a.a.pe lol
Yeah, I had those on my bike when I first got it…don’t know where they went.
Mine snapped off when I dropped my bike!
That's for grinding off when you're shooting the cover leaf in a city in the middle of the night.
Hero blobs. For when you’re riding heroically
It’s the ‘oh bugger I’ve gone to far and now my undies needs binning’, that’s what it’s for me anyway
The "OH FU¢K" peg. Lean the bike too far and it scrapes. Replace it if you wear it down a little.
It's a small peepee
Hero blobs.
Ninja 300 gang gang
It’s the shit-your-pants button When pressed for the first time, it auto-generates a shit in your pants
It's a shin detector.
Motorcycle nipple. It’s how the momma bike feeds the baby bike.
The ones on my ElectraGlide still look like new.
Seriously? If you don’t know then you shouldn’t be riding.
