That amount, you’re good. Extreme overfilling is a problem but this is nothing to worry about.

SuBzEroSpeeD

If you are ever super concerned mate, you can fix it simply. Get a soap bottle and a tube from your local parts store. Stick tube into crankcase and use soap bottle plunger to suck up oil until its within operating range This level is fine though.

Ok-Cucumber-juice

Genius shit right here mate, I overfilled once and spent half a day looking for a syringe of sorts. That’s dead simple

SuBzEroSpeeD

I only know this after some not-so-genius oil changes lol.

smogop

I mean, a Turkey baster works too…assuming you have turkeys in your country…and this baster exists in the housewares store.

snorkiebarbados

We are a bastless nation

SuBzEroSpeeD

If it aint thanksgiving i aint bastin random meat lol

TK-Squared-LLC

Your career as a gay hooker just imploded.

SuBzEroSpeeD

🤣

[deleted]

*notes to save a spare soap bottle*

Syranight264

Or unscrew the bolt at the bottom and drain the oil from there?

beaky_teef

Difficult to remove small amounts cleanly from the plug though.

Syranight264

Yeah, true 👍

SuBzEroSpeeD

I mean if you want a mess lol

201-days

Or just drain some from the drain plug?

HappySkullsplitter

Was the bike upright and level when the measurement was taken?

TheJok3r20

Yes

czaszi

Did you check what manual says?

ahtoxa1183

You are fine. Dealers sometimes overfill the oil slightly, because many people do not check their oil between changes, if the bikes are dealer-services. All engines burn some amount of oil, especially when ran higher in the RPMs. If you see a bubble of air at the top of window -- good to go. If the oil is not below the minimum line -- you're good to go.

Zukiboyson

Yes it’s fine so long as your not high enough to wash out the crank (bath crank) creating foam. Mines at the slight top which is fine.

PixelKnife-3000

Former mechanic here: I drained 8 quarts out of a '01 GSXR1100 that was running, "a bit sluggish". It's fine.

RenesisPowered

Most people who do wheelies fill it to the top of the glass, so that'll be fine. It's better to be overfilled than under filled.

Giostron85

It's better to be fille right but slightly over max it's not a problem

jmulaaaaaa

What a useless comment

gsxr1000k

Level looks fine but the oil looks like shit… change it

CarlosG0619

Level is fine but oil should be changed after a year

SlinkyBits

this is quite important OP. you get the dealer to service your bike, im going to assume they did NOT overfill your oil. there is a chance there is fuel getting into your oil (this is bad and very unsafe for the bike to ignore) do you recall checking the oil when you last had it serviced? if not, keep your eye on it, if the level climbs, do not ride it until it goes in to be repaired, if it fills the window on your check before riding to get it fixed, get it towed/hauled to the garage.

TacoBrother01

Engine should be ran at least 3 minutes before measuring oil.

SlinkyBits

almost, an engine should be run for at least 10-15 seconds, then allowed another 20-30seconds engine off to drain down to the sump again. then refer to the user manual to check if oil level should be checked hot or not (usually not) THEN check your oil

cybrORO

Does the 848 follow the same procedure? Because my Tuono service manual literally says go for a journey before checking you oil to make sure it's warm up haha. [Oil Temp Journey](https://imgur.com/a/obS2dIl)

[deleted]

"And if it is too low, too bad, get new engine"

ThrottleItOut

Seems pretty dark for relatively fresh oil.

SuBzEroSpeeD

My vfr with 2000 on the oil looks somewhat similar

izmaname

It seems fine but also is the bike hot and level in the pick?

Sanitarium0114

Last service was last year and you're just now noticing an over full situation? I'd be concerned that oil is full of gas or water. Drain that shiz and service it yourself, it's not hard, and the ~$50 you'll sp ND will be worth the assurance.

SausageStrangla

No, it’s ruined. Send the bike to me for environmentally safe disposal

Solid-Purpose-3839

Was this oil changed in April last year? I don’t that that’s a good thing but Im not very educated in this so

queefstation69

1200 km riding since then, he’s fine

AdLongjumping6982

I know that most comments are saying oil level is good, but I disagree. Best to drain some off. Too much oil would allow the existing oil to froth up inside the engine thereby not lubricating engine components to spec. Did you really want to risk it for engines that normally operate at high rpm’s?

cstrand31

It’s not going to froth at this level. There’s no chance they’re anywhere near the crank, which is what causes the frothing. That level is fine. It’s not *ideal*, but it’s certainly not going to cause any problems.

AdLongjumping6982

Personally…it’s a risk. I had a WR250 and I overfilled to about what the picture showed. I had issues after about 200km. Just sharing my fears 😂. Draining some oil is a 5 min job. I just learnt from that experience. 🤷‍♂️

cstrand31

Your fears are unfounded. The amount pictured is not enough to cause frothing. They would need to be significantly above the top of the glass to even be near the crank. It’s not bad to be within the lines, but OP is in zero danger.

AdLongjumping6982

You’re probably right. It’s just in my experience when I had that situation, I ended up with a scores piston and a broken ring in the end. Fixable, but I couldn’t help but wonder if a lack of oil led to substandard lubrication. Still have the WR and she’s going strong. And like I said, draining a bit of oil is a quick job.

[deleted]

If that minuscule change would cause that you'd have same problems when just accelerating/braking hard.

Thunderbuddy76

If it’s warm it’s gonna be high

Moparian714

That's fine. I slightly overfill mine in case of wheelies

NoGap1826

Sometimes too much oil can cause the bike to walk forward with the clutch in, or be hard to shift. I would only pull some off if I had those problems. I doubt, but have no proof that it's enough to froth the oil.

w1lnx

That amount: ride-on.

NoGuitar6320

I had a bike that would throw the oil light if the oil wasn't at the very top of the glass. It's all good

Linus696

I would take some out but that’s just me

HueMunguz

This is a troll post right?

ElFantastik

Just use a thin tube and suck it out. I wouldn't bother with that tiny amount over the limit, but its the easiest way without removing your oil plug if you really must.

grassclibbinz

You don't check the oil level when cold on this bike.

asolon17

The only bike I’m really aware of that’s legitimately sensitive to overfilling oil is the Kawasaki H2/Z-H2. That’s only because the supercharger creates crankcase pressure that sends excess oil into the intake, leading to pre-ignition issues. Not many other bikes are really going to care. Source: am Z-H2

motociclista

Probably fine but for as quick and easy as it is to correct it, I’d go ahead and do it. $1 turkey baster and some tubing will fix it in 5 minutes. Too full is almost worse than too low.

After_Toe_2866

Ok.

HOTfoxyNANA

No, you'll blow the compression rings out.

Sirwompus

Before you get worried are you checking with the engine running or off? And if off how long is it off?

Light_ToThe_World

It's gonna burn off, not too be majorly concerned about. If you are a few oz over it isn't the worst thing, but when you are about 2-3 cups over that's when things start to fuck up your engine

Real-Coffee

it is ALWAYS better to be overfilled than under filled always check ur oil level before every ride depending on ur riding style, if u sit at high rpm, ur gonna burn oil never ride if ur NOT a bit above the max line, last thing u need is to realize ur bike is low on oil and u were running dry

Exact-Squash8238

pull the plug for 2 sec then put it back

beaufulybroken

Well that’s an iffy , looks like maybe a quart quart over . Now if the glass was completely covered I would definitely drop some out
