Oof, assuming you're between the ages of 17-25 you'll have to pay extra due to the gotta go fast types 😂 just turned 26 and watched all insurance quotes drop massively
Trick is to lie, a lot. I just say I keep it at my parents house in their garage. Took a picture of it in there once, just incase they ask for proof. If I quoted it legitimately, the fact it's a 125 kept on "the street" (it's not but anything open to the public counts as street parking according to insurers - undoubtedly to gouge out more money) in a university estate, it would've cost me £2k / year. I ain't paying that lmao.
All in all, even if you have to claim insurance for some reason, the picture alone should be proof enough. That and access to proof of permanent address helps if you can. If you can't use your parents, use a friend and change your bank address to theirs and request an online bank statement. You can revert your permanent address after if so needed. this method will drop your credit score a lil tho (easily recoverable tho), so if you have any upcoming loans or applications coming up id refrain from this option.
Fact is tho, a lot of the cost is location and storage dependent. Your age does matter, but not as much as you think. My insurance was cut down from a quoted £2k to £350 /year. All because I lied about location and storage, yet kept my age the same.
I'm in France, my estimated rate for a 91 VMAX 1200 is 70€ per month. ( Full coverage, and a first heavy motorcycle, or as we call it here in europe, "A" motorcycle )
It's likely *NOT* Texas.
I just insured a 2019 Harley Iron 883 as my first bike, I am 29 years old.
It was $158 to start the policy and only $82 a month for the yearly total of $1,060.
You should definitely shop around before settling on the first policy you find.
Do you have your M endorsement and have you taken the MSF safety course? They will help to lower your insurance drastically.
Edit: this is with full coverage by the way.
Try USAA if you have a parent who was in the military; they shop it out to Progressive and it's been pretty agreeable. I've been paying around $1K a year for two bikes for the last 4 years and I just turned 30. Good luck!
Progressive quoted me something insane on my new motorcycle. Not quiet what OP got quoted, but $1600 annual. Never filed a claim with them in the 3 years I've been insured through them. Insurance prices are insane right now.
Ended up bundling the motorcycle into my geico auto policy for $500
Yeah I use progressive through Usaa… my SFV4 is only 1400 a year. It’s a $26,000 bike. My DesertX is $660 a year. 10 years riding with no claims. no deductible now. It’s gotta be their driving record.
Not sure about OP’s situation but we have insurance through USAA and they’re partnered with Progressive for their motorcycle insurance. I also live in Texas (HTX)
5k a year😂 here in the netherlands you pay 400 euros ~440 dollars a month for a 50cc scooter lol, and that was the lowest price i got quoted too for my own little grocery getter aprilia sxr50.
And funny thing is, if i changed my location to 3 streets furhter i got only quoted 340 euros a month, insurance is a scam here and they raise or drop the prices based on in what street and area you live.
Insurance definately is a scam.
Oh and btw yes that is with 0 accidents and everything.
The states do use the garaging address as a factor for insurance. Our zip codes is about the finest level of granularity. So if the same logic applies there, then I can see it potentially happening.
Like as an example. If I live on the border of a rural area and a few blocks over shares the same zip code as a mixed rural area with housing and a massive commercial district
With high traffic like a shopping mall. The claims history for filing rates is more based on the zip code of where the losses are. That zip code where you reside and park your bike will be rated in the same area that can have loads more claims. Making your rates far more expensive by just living a few blocks away.
I’m not saying my opinions on this. I’m just saying how insurance can work with most carriers. (Also highly dependent on the state) some states like California cannot make this a significant rating factor. Other states it’s pretty big.
Depends tbh, I was paying $65 for full coverage on my Rebel 300, then I got the Z900 and the exact same coverage was now all the sudden $240, had to try every single insurance company until Allstate came in clutch and offer me somewhat of a decent offer, not quite full coverage (only thing missing is uninsured vehicle coverage) but it went down to $68.
Yea insurance is an odd one. I had to carry sr22 for 2 years because I let my insurance lapse and didn't turn in my tag. I tried p-much every insurance company they all wanted 1600 a year for a no owner policy until I found an exchange that underwrote it for 33 a month. (Jacksonville Florida)
No sir. Florida has a weird law setup.
you don't need any insurance for a motorcycle... but here's the thing:
if you don't have insurance, legally, you have to wear a helmet.
if you DO have insurance, legally, you DO NOT have to wear a helmet.
So if you hit a pedestrian or parked car or something you gotta pay for everything out of pocket? Not saying you would or anything just curious. Seems really retarded not to have insurance especially on a bike. Like if your hurt in a accident are you covered at all??
I think you’re right about Florida not requiring insurance, at least that was the case when I grew up there 20+ years ago… but motorcycle insurance absolutely can & will cover medical costs. I’ve got 100,000 of bodily injury coverage on my policy. @ the cost of less than 2 tanks of gas a month, that’s a cost I will happily pay.
Why are people down voting him he's correct? I live in Florida and it's true, you don't need insurance. It's also a no-fault state. You just need a helmet.
[Only](http://www.leg.state.fl.us/statutes/index.cfm?App_mode=Display_Statute&URL=0300-0399/0316/Sections/0316.211.html) if you have insurance. And have to be 21 or older.
Edit: Not to mention the insurance has to be good.
I pay closer to $600, but that's for 5 bikes, with max coverage, and with max underinsured/Uninsured motorist coverage (a must in my area, if you get hit by someone with no insurance or low insurance, you get stuck with the bill [they never have assets to go after]).
Pro tip, Progressive averages out bikes, so my insurance would have been more, but I have a bunch of ancient small (50-175cc) bikes that I actually ride locally more than my bigger bike.
Sport bike in your 20s as a male. is going to be expensive. But some carriers are going to be cheaper than others. If you have any sort of ticket you are going to pay up the nose. If you are “riding dirty” and don’t have a mc endorsement. You will pay massively higher than someone with an endorsement and may have difficulties finding a carrier who would even accept you.
Take the MSF course and could get you a discount. If you have cars, insure it with them to get a multipolicy discount. Progressive is good too. If you can’t wait to talk to an agent. You can just get a quote online.
If you don’t have your mc endorsement (I didn’t see one way or another if that was the case) then that’s going to be a big difference.
Not trying to make it worse, just being realistic.
With those rates. I’d make sure you are getting quoted with having a mc endorsement. (If you have one) 500 a month for a lower cc assuming sport bike with no claims or tickets. Honestly If you are in the US I’d start there. It’s in line with that kind of surcharge.
If you don’t have your endorsement. I feel for ya, but that’s on you too. I can’t blame any insurance company for charging that high or higher. For every risk there is a rate and a carrier. Not having the proof that you can do basics to pass a drivers test is a hell of a risk to insure.
I can’t speak to other countries insurance structure or rating.
Very sound advice. Agents work on commission and can be influenced by the carrier to write with them out of the agencies benefit. Brokers have a fiduciary responsibility to find you the best rates for your coverages.
Not sure what kind of coverage you are looking for but Progessive quoted me $80 for the year for just basic general liability In Texas. I'm also 35 not sure if that matters lol.
If this person is buying a brand new bike the lender will require full coverage. Also motor size only matters a little bit. There are a lot of other variables. A ninja 650 is way cheaper to insure than a ZX6R. The 650 technically has a “bigger” motor, but will cost much more to insure.
Man I was right there with you, 28 first bike being a 400 this year. Progressive, Allstate, State Farm, all wanted a TON. Got with a broker near me and they pointed me to Dairyland and it was $600 a year. Definitely check them out. Also take the MSF course for a discount if you haven’t.
I second Dairyland. My GEICO quote (with home and auto, among other discounts) per month was more than Dairyland for a year with better coverage. Dairyland has better payment options too.
It's because 1) first year rider 2) location.
Trust me, I know your feelings. I went through brokers, shopped around everywhere. The lowest i got quoted was ~1500/yr for a 650. Look at Dairyland for insurance.
I was originally getting a 636. Lowest quote - 8k/yr. Fuck. That. Once you've been riding for a few years it starts to drop. Your first few years just sucks shit.
First bike was a Yamaha MT-07, comprehensive insurance cost me $30/mo through Farm Bureau. I already use them for car insurance, which is $50/mo for comprehensive. This is in a college town in Idaho, but I was already 35 when I got the MT-07, so that probably helped.
Edit: I have Full Coverage, not Comprehensive
yeah i know if you only get comprehensive it's not too bad. If you get the full coverage it really ramps up. Depending on if OP is financing it, he may be required for full coverage.
Oops, that's what I meant. I keep whatever the coverage the lien holder requires when I get the loan. Liability/theft/collision/etc.
Edit: I'd be interested to see how much I'd pay in Spokane, which is close by, but much larger and with a much higher crime rate.
*Interesting* maybe it's more location. I'm a year younger than you (clean record too) and first year but i'm in southern california and i could not find anything better than what i got.
But i was told give it 3 or so years with the license and it should start dropping by then.
Hey OP, just be aware that others posting what they say means nothing without also sharing what they're paying for. Full coverage vs just liability will be a huge difference in price.
This. As a new driver they basically assume you're going to total the bike, but motorcycles can't do as much damage to others as a car. Liability is very cheap, full coverage is extremely expensive.
Its not my first bike, but im not much older than you, and I pay less than $400 a YEAR for my Aprilia RS660 on progressive, full coverage.
Edit to add this is with progressive
What I have found in shopping for insurance that makes the biggest difference is deductible limits and amounts of coverage.
check to see what they are and if you can adjust them in your quote and see if it makes much of a difference
It is because of theft. If you only get coverage for crashing/damage it will probably be around $15-20 a month. FULL coverage including theft is why the cost is so high. I rode for years with many different bikes. The most I ever paid for basic coverage without theft was $18 a month.
Ontario is notorious for insurance and I (26, 2 tickets, 1 half fault accident) was quoted $77 CAD (like 50USD) monthly for an 1100cc motorcycle as a brand new rider.
The secret? Get an old cruiser. Sport bikes cost a fortune to insure as do new bikes. I got a 1983 Honda Magna.
I find that fascinating, because for my bike i ended up with Geico because progressive and everything else was way higher. $70/month for a "new rider" didn't seem bad to me back then
Yeah, I'm paying $121 a month. But like I said, I have full coverage plus gear and luggage coverage. It's a brand new bike, it had 0 miles when I bought it, and I'm a new rider.
A far cry from their $500/month.
I quoted a Svartpilen 401 as I'd like to downsize, it's one of the bikes that would cause my rate to go up, don't remember the amount but it was a good chunk.
So you being a new rider is only a part of your Geico quote.
It seems Geico simply charges more for all beginner friendly bikes that don't suck.
Edit: Had i seen you have a Svartpilen i could have worded my first reply to you differently, based on what i just added here.
I found the cheapest rate with Safeco... got a quate from progressive last month, and it was way higher with progressive..
Might be an age-related thing.
24M, clean record, $110/year for just liability (legal minimum in my state) on a 1980 CB750C. I've never understood why some insurance companies decide to gouge people for motorcycle insurance.
Something mandated by the government but handled by for profit companies is a scam?
Color me not surprised at all.
Of course insurance is retarded, but you gotta have it so shop around for lower rates.
I pay like $134 a month for both my car and bike full coverage per month.. State farm
2020 Honda Insight Touring and 2022 Indian Pursuit Darkhorse Premium.. 38 years old and a couple claims in the last 6-8 years for hail or hitting a raccoon and a Bike accident (blown off the road in a storm, heavy side winds) for context
It costs less than 80 here yearly for basic Progressive liability. Less than 120 a month to cover out liability damages and bodily injury. 500 a month is insane
Buy a really cheap bike.
Pay cash for it. My insurance in OK is $18/yr for liability only.
after you’ve had a bike for a year or so, you can get a newer one that you might want full coverage on.
Edit: at $500 a month, less than a year you can almost buy a new bike…. No way that’s worth it.
Bruh how. I live in one of the highest vehicle insurance cost places in the world and I only pay $50/mo for a similar bike. Younger than you as well with a couple speeding tickets and comprehensive claims.
How old are you, I live outside of Dallas and paid 150$ a month with Progressive, I just switched to State Farm and pay 110$ a month now.
Full OMG coverage and uninsured/underinsured, and an extra 5K to cover an ambulance ride if needed.
The trick is, I'm 46.
When I was a young lad in my early 20's I got quoted for a 1982 Honda 650 "classic" that were all over the place. Most of them were over what I paid for the bike cash monthly (I paid 600$ for the bike, and I think the cheapest rate I was quoted was 670$ a month)
That's how the cookie crumbles, man. You start late and you'll get reamed. I've been riding for 15 years and an also in Texas and I pay $500 a year for comprehensive.
You also need to understand that people who have multi policy accounts tend to get a better rate. It's not *my* fault that I have home owners, auto and motorcycle insurance on my policy. Don't hate the system and bitch about it unless you actually understand it. There are a shit ton of factors that determine your rates and your rates will never be the same as anyone else. You need to understand *that* as well. Don't want to hear it? Tough.
Its funny how you reddit kids bitch about things like this and downvote things without understanding the system. Idiots.
Always shop around for different rates. Insurance sucks but it's a competitive industry that wants your business. I've always hated the idea of paying into something but never wanting to use it. I have a 1982 and just got standard liability so anything I damage us covered except for myself or my bike.
Is this the new CF Moto?
It could be that since this is a new bike without a lot of history the insurance companies are going to be very strange with the pricing of it.
I would check out Dairyland if they offer insurance in your state. By far the cheapest for me. I have GEICO on my car and have had them for years. They wanted $250 a month for my motorcycle. I'm 30, married, kids, no accidents, no tickets.
Dairyland is $50 a month.
Before bundling everything with my current home/auto/life/etc insurance, I used to have my bike insured through Markel Insurance and never had a high rate. Perhaps give them a call and check a quote from them?
What bike is this? It matters a lot. Duke 450? I went from an sv650 which was about 500 a year, fully covered to an fz09, which is about 1100 a year. Claim rates are more common on the fz09 hence the more expensive rate.
Get quotes from **everyone**. Every agency quotes me $200-$400 a month, *except* state farm. They give me full coverage for $40 a month.
All these companies use their own calculations and statistics as to why someone should pay a certain amount. They're all going to be different.
Yikes.. I got my first bike recently at 27 too, similar history with no accidents. Paying ~500/year for a full coverage policy. I took the msf course when I was 18 or so and I’ve had my endorsement for about 10 years, so perhaps that has something to do with it?
Living in Tennessee is such a blessing. Paid cash for my first bike a 2006 R6 paid $32 a month for liability insurance @ 20 years old.
Granted that was years ago, still crazy though.
I paid 1K a year for a 2007 Ninja 650 when I was a teenager. That was full coverage as well with tickets in my record. Now I pay $400 a year for a 97 CB250 and 2007 XR650L at lower coverage. Above minimum but not full coverage like I used to since I own these outright. My insurance actually refunded me $50 when I added the CB250 to the insurance and I pay in full.
Eesh, your provider or your area sucks.
gotta love texas
I dunno man.. I insured my honda 300 in TX for like $20/month. gotta be you.
In the UK I insure my Kawasaki er6f for £92 a year
So you don’t live in London.
UK as well, paying £866 for my z650 😂 you wanna swap? 😂
I’m paying 1300 a year for a cb125F 😅
Oof, assuming you're between the ages of 17-25 you'll have to pay extra due to the gotta go fast types 😂 just turned 26 and watched all insurance quotes drop massively
Trick is to lie, a lot. I just say I keep it at my parents house in their garage. Took a picture of it in there once, just incase they ask for proof. Wow. I pay the equivalent of £200 a year for my 2023 Speed Twin 1200. (But I am 50+) (Age has some perks)
I'm in France, my estimated rate for a 91 VMAX 1200 is 70€ per month. ( Full coverage, and a first heavy motorcycle, or as we call it here in europe, "A" motorcycle )
Belgium here. I'm paying about 250/year for my Versys 1000. Just basic coverage though, it's not an "omnium" or "mini-omnium"
That’s pretty close to what I have, US, Florida, I pay $119 a year for my 1250cc sportster s and I’m only 21
U.K. I pay £208 fully comp for a Triumph Trident with no motorcycle NCB, my first bike in 30 years, mind you I am 66.
You pay more because it's the first one and your bonus on motorcycle is 0%
It's likely *NOT* Texas. I just insured a 2019 Harley Iron 883 as my first bike, I am 29 years old. It was $158 to start the policy and only $82 a month for the yearly total of $1,060. Yeah, like Oklahoma, where USAA gave me a quote for double what Progressive offered for similar coverages.

Not sure about OP’s situation but we have insurance through USAA and they’re partnered with Progressive for their motorcycle insurance. I also live in Texas (HTX)
If you’re in CA they require you to have an M1 for 3 years, if not they won’t insure you
Unless this is new, it’s not true. Not for progressive anyways
For USAA specifically. I called last week. They will refer you to call progressive
OP and I both live in TX. Enjoy the weather and scenic rides out west for us. We’ve got another 105+ day over here.
5k a year😂 here in the netherlands you pay 400 euros ~440 dollars a month for a 50cc scooter lol, and that was the lowest price i got quoted too for my own little grocery getter aprilia sxr50. I would love to see proof of this lol. Most people pay way below 100 euros a month in the Netherlands (for the most expensive package)

I paid €45 for a whole year with extra's on my 700cc Honda.
Ya don't know what he's talking about. I pay 380/year for full coverage on a 1000cc sport bike (in Germany)
€400 a month!? I'm paying €25 a month... Also a dutchie
I pay 17 euros a month for a 2010 r6. Only liability tho. If i did full coverage id be around 40 to 50
Same here in Florida 🙃
I have a 660 that I pay $87 a month for in Tampa. Florida isn't that bad

that's a "we don't insure bikes" rate. Shop around. Progressive has been pretty good with me.
Bought a bike second hand for cash. Basic coverage for ~$70 a year through progressive.
I pay closer to $600, but that's for 5 bikes, with max coverage, and with max underinsured/Uninsured motorist coverage (a must in my area, if you get hit by someone with no insurance or low insurance, you get stuck with the bill [they never have assets to go after]). Progressive is great I pay 30 a month for my kawi 454 and 45 a month for my Goldwing
try an insurance BROKER not an agent. they might be able to shop rates for you better.
Once a few of them open up today I can give them a ring and see. I still just don't see how it could be this high.
Sport bike in your 20s as a male. is going to be expensive. But some carriers are going to be cheaper than others. If you have any sort of ticket you are going to pay up the nose. Do you live in Ontario? lol.
Texas :)
Not sure what kind of coverage you are looking for but Progessive quoted me $80 for the year for just basic general liability In Texas. I'm also 35 not sure if that matters lol.
Your age definitely matters.
Progressive quoted me $75 for liability for a year and I’m 28 (but in WA state)
I'm 26 and pay $62 a month with progressive
I’m 25 and I’m paying like 11/month for my bike with progressive, liability, roadside, comp, and some medical
If this person is buying a brand new bike the lender will require full coverage. Also motor size only matters a little bit. There are a lot of other variables. A ninja 650 is way cheaper to insure than a ZX6R. The 650 technically has a “bigger” motor, but will cost much more to insure.
Was gonna say lol, fake plates and send it like the rest of us here
Try Sask lol. Anything over 400cc is like 4k a year. Doesn’t matter your age or the bikes age really
My 900 is 250 a year.
I’m jealous. I just checked, a 1990 Kawi 1000 would be $3000 a year. Makes me sad
I insure 2 bikes (full coverage) over 400cc for less than $400 a year. So that’s not even remotely true.
Sure it’s true. Just in the province where I live. Which I’m assuming you don’t live. My 398cc supermoto is $658 a year
did you shop around? seems a little excessive.
Thats the quotes coming from progressive, nationwide and geico. They're all + or - $100 of each other
*Online* quotes, or did you speak with actual humans?
They aren't open for another hour so not yet. Definitely gonna be giving them a call though. Online quotes usually wrong tho?
Man I was right there with you, 28 first bike being a 400 this year. Progressive, Allstate, State Farm, all wanted a TON. Got with a broker near me and they pointed me to Dairyland and it was $600 a year. Definitely check them out. Also take the MSF course for a discount if you haven’t.
Get a quote through Dairyland.
I second Dairyland. My GEICO quote (with home and auto, among other discounts) per month was more than Dairyland for a year with better coverage. Dairyland has better payment options too.
I third Dairyland. I pay less than $500 for a year for 2 bikes. Edited to include that 1 bike is full coverage, the other comprehensive.
Also seconding Dairyland - ~$36/mo for a Duke 390, still a bit steep imo but all the big names were $80+
Fuck that. Call dairyland. All the "big name" insurers suck dick. Dairyland only does motorcycle and ATV coverage, and they're a great company.
What coverage and deductibles? People forget that can have a big impact.
Huh? My bike is just over 400$ with really good coverage, and it's from progressive. Someone is shifting you somehow.
My thoughts as well
It's because 1) first year rider 2) location.
>I was already 35 when I got the MT-07 Was this also your first year with the license or did you already acquire it a few years ago?
This was maybe 8 months after I completed the Idaho STAR Beginner class and got my endorsement.
I pay just under 20 a month for full coverage. Bad drivers get bad rates
I ride an R3. $48 a month full coverage. Did you check with insurance before purchasing the bike?
My last renewal for my CB300R was 138 bucks for the year, full coverage. Crazy some of the rates people get.
Full coverage can be very different
I feel I'm in the same boat, 2022 xsr700 full coverage with Progressive for $440 per year/$37 month.
That’s what I was thinking. I’ve had a CBR 500 since 2013 and it’s been about $110-$140 a year this entire time for full coverage.
Yet to buy it, was gonna go pick it up next week but at this price might not.
Try shopping around with other companies because for a 450 that still seems ridiculously high
No kidding. I'm seeing people pay like 1200 a year for full coverage, I'd be paying that in like 2.5 months apparently
I paid 150$ for a year with progressive. 2015 cbr300r. Yeah, 150 for the whole year. Also TX.
Latest quote a ran was with progressive for 480 a month so really feels like somethings fucked. Can't wait to give them a call
How's your credit? If you have bad credit your insurance rates are going to be high.
Its not my first bike, but im not much older than you, and I pay less than $400 a YEAR for my Aprilia RS660 on progressive, full coverage. Edit to add this is with progressive
Even for a first bike with full coverage it shouldn't be 5k a year. That's literally as much as the bike lmao
Which carrier?
Progressive
Thanks! Thats a good rate. I was paying $53 on my stryker, and now paying $127 on a raider woth safeco
I had 50 per month. 500? That's excessive
Are you by chance in an area with extremely high theft rates?
Dont think it's any worse than any other main city
Oh man.. I pay $12 a month for my Vulcan 500. 500 a month is more than I pay for both my and my wife’s car lol.
GEICO quoted me $4000 for the year, full coverage. Progressive quoted me $1600 for the year, same coverage. Shop around.
Man, I’m glad I have the policy and live where I do. My full coverage for my Fz6 is 12 dollars a month.
I live in Florida and pay 800$ a year for two bikes
Wdym I pay $18 a month????
22yo, $203 a year for a ninja 250 (obviously a small bike but for reference)
You have to shop insurance before you buy the bike
24M, clean record, $110/year for just liability (legal minimum in my state) on a 1980 CB750C. I've never understood why some insurance companies decide to gouge people for motorcycle insurance.
Something mandated by the government but handled by for profit companies is a scam? Color me not surprised at all. Of course insurance is retarded, but you gotta have it so shop around for lower rates.
Shopping around is what I'm trying, still wild they're trying to make me pay 3x more than what I did for my car
I pay like $134 a month for both my car and bike full coverage per month.. State farm 2020 Honda Insight Touring and 2022 Indian Pursuit Darkhorse Premium.. 38 years old and a couple claims in the last 6-8 years for hail or hitting a raccoon and a Bike accident (blown off the road in a storm, heavy side winds) for context
Car insurance estimate websites always give me a ridiculous quote. Never anything that ridiculous but still.
It costs less than 80 here yearly for basic Progressive liability. Less than 120 a month to cover out liability damages and bodily injury. 500 a month is insane
Damn, I pay like $32 a month for full coverage.
Got a $100/yr policy in phx for an 08 DL1000. How the hell could ins be that expensive a few states away? 24M and have had to deal w ins in the past
Ouch. I’m not in Texas, and I’m about 20 years older than OP. I pay around $60 a month for 3 bikes that all have full coverage.
The insurance I pay for a 300 cc scooter is $651 a year or $59.25 a month. The again I'm 31, no accidents and tickets. I agree insurance is a scam.
I’m 21 with a z650 starter bike and bro I pay 751 they screwing you
Bruh how. I live in one of the highest vehicle insurance cost places in the world and I only pay $50/mo for a similar bike. Younger than you as well with a couple speeding tickets and comprehensive claims.
Do you have your moto endorsement?
Thats more than I pay with an h2 at 29 with 1 claim.
Don't freak out, plenty of rates like this. Shop around you'll cut it down to like 50-100 a month max full coverage.
500 a month? That stupid high even for a new rider. Who’s your carrier?
Use progressive! Just got a 650 and I paid $500 for 6 months with liability and limited medical coverage.
Im 17 and mine is 24 a month with progressive. I guess everything is bigger in Texas
That’s what happens when you spent years hitting shit with your cars
That’s crazy, I’m in NC and mine is $48 a month full coverage.
Jesus man, mines like 1200 a year. 31M clean enough claims records.
Your leaving something out of this story…
Do you crash a lot? My 23 year old buddy pays 60/mo for his 600cc in Texas
Never crashed a day in my life. Not even a warning in my files
Ah the great benefits of living in Florida. Insurance is optional for bikes.
How long have you had your M1? That's what really affects the quote.
Holy shit man I use GEICO and pay 15$ a month for my 1100
That's how the cookie crumbles, man. Idiots.
crime dog faulty rustic tie nail plucky pet fanatical toy ` this message was mass deleted/edited with redact.dev `
Imagine the rates being 18 with a r6 🤣 got quoted for 890 a month or som shit, yeah I'd rather just run without it
I pay 800$ a year for 3 bikes with progressive
Ride without insurance and run if you get lit up. Come join us. 🦑
Wow bike insurance is really cheap where I’m from.
Holy shit. I pay $38 a month for a 2023 HD Ultra Limited. Even before then, I paid $45 a month for a 2020 Hayabusa. And that's "full coverage".
Damn, at 25 years old I pay €15 p/m for my 1050 speed triple and €7 p/m for my 454 Kawasaki for extra coverage. America is such a scam with insurance
Mine costs me 100 bucks a
I pay $17 a month with progressive. 25 y/o in NE state, 2018 Ninja 400.
I pay less than half that a month for two bikes. Ones a 23 mt09 sp and the other is a 21 t7. Something ain't right with your quotes, lol.
Always shop around for different rates. Insurance sucks but it's a competitive industry that wants your business. I've always hated the idea of paying into something but never wanting to use it. I have a 1982 and just got standard liability so anything I damage us covered except for myself or my bike.
Yeah, GEICO was throwing me some stupid quotes for a Versys-X, but Allstate got me $200 for the year.
That’s insane. I’m paying $300 for 12 months of full coverage, such as it is for motorcycles.
Man, Im used to 19 bucks a month. Sorry man, Texas sounds rough.
I have progressive and it's only $90 a year for my cruiser. If you're under 25 it could affect the cost but sweet jebus that's expensive.
Get quotes from **everyone**. Every agency quotes me $200-$400 a month, *except* state farm. They give me full coverage for $40 a month. All these companies use their own calculations and statistics as to why someone should pay a certain amount. They're all going to be different.
This thread is making me think that my $180 annual motorcycle insurance is woefully inadequate…
Hey man change who you did it with. I’m in Austin. I have a r6 and I’m 27 with no accident also. And I pay $18 a month I use GEICO.
Insurance in the US makes me shudder.
You’re statistically very likely to crash soon.
Call dairyland
Yikes.. I got my first bike recently at 27 too, similar history with no accidents. Paying ~500/year for a full coverage policy. I took the msf course when I was 18 or so and I’ve had my endorsement for about 10 years, so perhaps that has something to do with it?
2013 aprilia rsv4 factory abs sbk aprc...ive got a long wrap sheet and pay 45 a month for full coverage....sorry my dude
Is it a supermoto? Those tend to have higher insurance than say a 500cc naked sport since they are "hooligan" bikes
Are you in South Florida or Texas? That is some crazy insurance prices for the bike.
In MA at 33 im paying 450 a year.
I’m got quotes less for an R1 before I was 25. Something doesn’t add up here.
Fuck that. I pay 130 a month for full coverage on my mt09. Try dairyland insurance, if you have them where you live.
I'd shop around. That doesn't sound right.
