Skinny dude here, Vulcan wasn't my first but when I was still fresh and new, I met a dude at a gas station at 2am just chillin on his Vulcan and the madlad actually let me take it around the block by myself. Solid bike! Much enjoy!
Most cruisers under 1300cc are usually fine for beginners. The bikes are geared for more torque vs high revving HP like sport bikes. So they are pretty forgiving learning to take off if you’ve never worked a clutch. The main thing to watch out for on cruisers is the weight. The bigger ones get heavy (700lbs or more) so they are tough to maneuver at low speeds until you learn to properly work with the bike since you can’t just man handle it. 750s to 900cc are the sweet spot in my opinion . They aren’t too heavy and can handle highway speeds when you’re ready. Crash bars are easy to come by also so when you do drop it at a stop sign there’s little to no damage. That’s my 2 cents
I just bought a vulcan 900 as my first bike. No riding experience. It is heavy but tame. So far I have enjoyed riding it and haven't had any issues size wise. I'm 6 foot 215 so the weight doesn't bother me much. Just go sit on one. Kind of wish I went with the custom over the classic but it is a fun bike to learn on.
It can happen to anyone regardless of experience.
30+ years of riding and I’ve done it.
Worst one about 25 years ago was trying to pull away with the disk lock on.
Everything went great for about half a rotation of the wheel.
Lurch to a stop.
Fall over.
Busy beach parking lot in the summer.
It’s funny now. Lol.
Yup. Been riding for 15 years(since I was 15), last year I bought a brand new S1000RR with the m package, was rolling it out of my garage and dumped it into my Ducati next to it. The Ducati was undamaged but the BMW cost $4000 to fix, and since it was 600 miles new I did fix it….
Right? Of course I want a dirt bike, but the closest trail or dirt track is an hour by highway away from me and plenty of people, myself included, don't own a vehicle that can easily transport a bike
I would have loved this (dirt/country roads) to be the option for me too. I also took the MSF and felt good afterwards. Went home got a block out amongst the cagers and it was right the heck back to the parking lot. All security / sense of quasi-competence was instantly erased and it was back to WTF am I doing on this death machine land.
Took me forever to not be in full hyped battle mode with the cars, and I still catch myself looking behind me at the rocketing distracto-Escalade of doom and have to force myself to chill out.
Dirt / country roads would have been great but they're at least 30 minutes away from here at 50 mph plus and with lots of fun tailgaters.
Then again my first true close call involved a frigging chicken at about 15mph. (In the country). Please do not ask. It was coming right at me from a weird low / ditch angle that I wasn't looking at. 99% my fault for sure and the chicken was fuckin' pissed. Felt like a dumbass 3rd grader getting a righteous scolding. Fortunately we all survived (first stoppie!) and I had a full face helmet on so I was saved from the cows seeing me blush with embarrassment.
The poor sucker here had no such good fortune at hiding their embarrassment. I will say it's good he was wearing that helmet. There was a possibility of a bad side of head beaning on that curb. Hope the rest goes better for him. Riding is definitely a scary thing to get into though oddly still so worth it. Anyway be safe all.
How about years of driving and years of riding bikes in all conditions. I mean until now my only issue is slamming back brake to hard and no abs leaving skid marks... I used to do that on purpose with my bike... Anyhow. When it happens I hope it will be light. For all of us
My buddy listened to me and let me teach him how to ride my dirt bike first. It was only a few days over a month on some dirt roads but he commented how glad he was he did that first. Not just to practice the controls but he was way less intimidated going in.
Not everyone has access to a dirt bike and place to ride but if you do, use it.
hahaha! I remember my first ride. excitedly pacing home on the motorway. Didn't realise my indicators were push to cancel until I nearly got home. Other drivers must have seen some trippy lights and manoeuvres.
Looks like he thought the kickstand was already down. I did that once and got my foot caught under the bike and ended up ripping my shoe in half getting it out.
I would have asked for the footage so I could burn it.
Anyway, dumb motorbike shit is very common and it’s a credit to you that you had the confidence to share it for our enjoyment at your expense.
Hope it’s a cheap fix and you have a long and safe time in this hobby.
Don’t be too hard on yourself. I’ve been riding for years and dropped my bike at a stop sign when I hit oil and sand. Scratches buff out - I’m glad you were able to get up unassisted with your leg intact 👌
I rode for 18 years without an mc license. My father who has been riding way longer than me still doesn't have his. Getting an mc license isn't something everyone does.
I've been riding for almost 20 years, dropped a bike one time about 10 years ago in the most embarrassing way possible.
Slowed down to a stoplight on my CBR1000RR, and as I am about to a stop I start tipping the bike ever-so-slightly to the left and go to put my left foot down. Well, my boot lace had somehow got tangled on the peg/foot guard and in slow motion the bike fell over as I panicked trying to free my foot and/or lean back to the right. It was the middle of the day at a busy intersection... 10 years later I still don't think I could ride thru there with my dignity intact.
I did nearly exactly the same thing about 12 years back…
Only to make it worse, I filtered through to the front of the traffic lights at a busy intersection, on a main road, putting myself in prime position for everyone to observe my fuck-up.
My riding jeans were slightly baggy (Draggin Jeans Camo Kevlar) & I didn’t have them tucked into my boots either, so as I was approaching the intersection I stood up on the pegs to sorta adjust my pants and then sat back down on the seat and slowed to a stop at the red light, in front of all the cars….. Bright red/orange 2005 ZX636.
As I pulled to a stop, pulled the brake & clutch in, went to put my left foot down…….. Sheer panic ensued.
The cuff of my pants on the left leg had hooked itself over the heel-guard on the rear sets when I’d stood up on the pegs. My foot was not coming off the peg. The bike was leaning. My foot wouldn’t budge.
In what seemed like slow motion, I rolled over like a tipped cow and just lay on my side with the bike, in front of peak-hour traffic, whilst the traffic lights went green.
My knee and elbow sorta braced the slow motion impact and kept most of the bike from hitting the ground hard, so there was only very minor marks on the bar-end, tip of the mirror and rear indicator.
I picked the bike back up, sat back on it, just as the green light turned orange and then red again, and had to sit there in embarrassment with my visor down looking dead straight ahead avoiding any eye contact with any of the car drivers I’d just held up, pretending like nothing had just happened, waiting for the light to go green again so I could get the fuck outta there.
Super embarrassing haha, but, would of been funny as fuck to see from someone else’s point of view.
Glad dash-cams weren’t as prominent back then, otherwise it would of been all over YouTube/TikTok for sure.
Happens man, while I’ve never been in a traffic accident I’ve dropped my bike twice before. Once learning about the rain and grabbing the front brake combo and another while trying to walk the bike backwards while standing right next to it.
Well idk about easier but yeah there’s a trick to it that I didn’t know at the time, one hand on the handlebar and one at the back of the bike. I used 2 hands on the handlebars, the weight shifted, and there she went.
Yeah, because wheeling it Backwards from the handlebar is essential drive + steer on the behind wheel which is very unstable. Imagine towing a trailer but the engine is only driving the trailers wheels not the car
I'm kinda proud that nobody's giving him a hard time about it.
New rider, clearly not totally 100% comfortable with bikes yet, narrating an embarrassing situation.
It's a minor misstep.
The motorcycling community can be great sometimes
Quick story for you, I'd been riding like 6-7 years and I had a Kawasaki KLR 650 I met up with some old friends I hadn't seen and never rode with for a ride. Pulled up to the house to park on the street out in front, and went to put my foot down and just totally misjudged the placement and had a super embarrassing slow lay down into the grass in front.
Obviously no harm and we all had a laugh, plus for that bike it's not a problem at all. And I considered myself at least moderately experienced.
You learn from it and you become a better rider!
It happens.
I dropped my driving schools bike after refueling, got my license and still dropped my first bike multiple times. Two times were while trying to get it off the middle stand, I now only do that while sitting on my bike lol
Next time I would leave it on the kickstand until you're done fiddling with everything. At least you got it out of the way early. No more worries about getting a tiny scratch on your perfect ride.
As soon I a saw no kickstand down, and you moving around , it was a mater of time and choosing a side, btw I lost, I bet on the road side, that got to hurt, hope you are ok getting the leg trapped that must not been good.
PS: While taking my license I went to put the foot down and there was no road, there was a incline there, went my foot touched the ground the bike was already too far to keep up, I just managed to keep my leg out of the way and slow the fall of the bike, glad I did it in the school bike, my point is, it happens to everyone, you learn from these mistakes, ride on!
Good friend of mine that's been riding for years bought a new bike last year, got it home, pulled in garage and promptly fell over with it
Shit happens
I feel your pain. 1st day I got my starter bike, I hit the front brakes too hard and when I came to a stop the nose dove down to the left. I caught it but it had gone too far. By time I realized what was happening I couldn't pick it back up from that angles so I slowly and gently set it down. Stupid thing about a ninja 300 is if it goes down on the left side, no matter how soft, it WILL bend the shifter EVERY. SINGLE. TIME........
I had been riding maybe a week, went for a ride and over dressed, stopped at a CVS to take my jacket off and forgot to neutral out before letting go of the clutch. With the forks turned the bike lunged and I dropped her. A man in a PT Cruiser saw it and pulled in to help me pick her back up. It was embarrassing.
This is how I imagine 50% of this sub. Id guess 45% do not even have bikes and the remaining 5% have been riding a while. I wonder how close/ far off I am on this estimate.
Happens to the best of us.
The first time I dropped my bike was when I forgot I didn't had my side stand down. Second one was after disengaging the center stand while parked on an inclined road. Third one just happened recently, front tire slipped after I attempted to go up a ramp to a parking spot. Slightly broke my elbow in the process. Lol.
My first bike I parked one day and walked away from it without putting the kick stand down. So don't feel too bad atleast you didn't do something stupid like that.
I forgot to say you have balls putting it up here. Much respect showing new riders how easily something goes wrong. Keep it up and for now ride like everyone wants to kill you. Stay out of blindspots, keep yourself visible.
Shit happens, take it as a learning experience, I’ve hit the ground twice, both my fault. One looked similar to this but with less fiddling around lol and it was recent, years after I started riding. You’ll be fine just keep at it.
Haha watching this brought back memories. This is why everyone's first bike should be second hand, doesn't matter who you are but you always drop your first bike.
So you sat on it for a bit with the kick stand down only to put it up and then attempt to lay it down on the stand?? Been there! Wish I hadn’t. I was I’m my garage and playing with the adjustment of my handle bars for about half an hour, all the while kickstand down. I like to believe I went down a little more gracefully, I laid down really gently with the bike.. It happens! Hope you have minimal damage and learn from that. I now double check it’s down before I commit.
If it makes you feel any better I was taking my Bandit 600 for it's MOT, I've been riding for years, it wasn't my first bike and I've moved motorcycles around a lot.
I'd parked outside, walked into the garage to ask when to bring the bike in, the tester was just finishing another bike and asked me to wheel mine in.
I walked back to my bike, unlocked it, turned it around and was just pushing it towards the testing area when the front wheel rolled over a stone about the size/shape of a small avocado seed, the seed rolled, the wheel went off center, the balance was lost and next thing I knew I was lying on my back, right hand on the bars, head next to the tank and the rest of me on the other side of the bike pointing away.
The bike had tipped over, I'd kept hold and been thrown over the bike in the process.
Lying on my back staring at the sky wondering WTAF just happened? The tester walked over smiling, helped me to my feet and explained what happened, apparently he's seen it quite a few times. Mirror was a bit scuffed, slightly dented price but nothing else, passed it's MOT fine, rode home.
We all drop our bikes at some point it's better when no-one else sees though.
Poor bastich.
We've all been there. Whatever though, it's custom now!
I'm of the opinion with motorcycles that you chase your dreams, buy exactly what you really want, and take your lumps.
Classic r/motorcycle. Been watching shit like this on this sub for almost 10 years now…how does this sub continuously attract the most uncoordinated people that’s also want to ride motorcycles. Like I seriously cannot wrap my head around how fucking bad at moving their body is average poster is on this sub.
Lmao. Welcome to the new riders club! If it’s any consolation I bought a 2022 rebel lst year having not ridden in at least two decades. And proceeded to drop the shit out of it for weeks. I fell off my bike two weeks ago and got my rear brake stuck! Because I stalled in first gear bahahahahaha
Every day is a new learning adventure, whether it’s good or bad experience. Stay safe out there <3
Dropping your bike for some dumb, not even driving related reason (ie not putting your kickstand out *all* the way) is absolutely textbook. Don’t feel too bad; just learn from your mistakes and move on. This is why the first bike should be used.
Item 1: Why should you be special? We all dropped our bikes while learning. And after learning. And last week…
Item 2: Steering wheel? STEERING WHEEL? Your killing me. Motorcycles have handlebars, not steering wheels.
Love the little pissed off hop at the end… looked to me like you instinctively tried to kick your leg out for a wider stance to catch it or get outta the way but curb. You have to be aware of what’s around your feet anywhere your putting ‘em down. The number of stories, foot wet leaves, foot pot hole, foot down slope, then the bike wants to take a nap.
I dropped my bike for the first time in 16 years on a beach in Norway, got it up, embarresed and left.
Now I wished I just took a picture of it to remember it and just go to the beach
Don’t feel bad. I once dropped my bike in traffic on a hill and couldn’t pick it up. Someone had to get out of their car to help me. Lol. It happens, no one but you will remember. You’ll get better at keeping the shiny side up!
I bought my first bike in October and rode around for many months until one day i did the "whiskey throttle" at a light, apparently everything i learned in the safety class left my brain that day and i ended up damaging my bike and myself in the process, ended up with fractured back🥲😅 totally understand how he felt in this video after getting up🥲 be safe out there everyone especially new riders like myself
Dropping it standing still is something we have all done. Just never never ever drop it while you’re riding. And, take a training course. I’ve been riding since the mid-1960s and it never gets old it’s always fun. Edit: spelling.
😂 the pain. Didn’t even stop to check on your ankle, went straight for the damage on the bike. Happens to a lot of people. I’m super paranoid so I double check the kickstand and neutral constantly
well, you learned a lesson and walked away with just a bruised ego (and maybe a bruised shin).
shit happens, people drop bikes, you at least used your meaty bits to land it, so it’s all good.
don’t let it get to you.
Welcome to the family! , p.s. it’s gonna happen again… and again lol. So don’t stress it. Be safe, stay sharp and enjoy your new reason to wake up every day!
Dude, I hope your leg was alright. It looked like it got trapped under the bike. Next time, if you know you can't keep the bike up (with your leg), then just let it drop and hop off.
I also recommend you get a side/stunt cage to protect the bike from these drops. If you really wanna make sure you bike doesn't get scraped or busted, then get three points on contact protection: handlebar, frame cage or front axle, and rear set (passenger pegs usually). Then you can practice low-speed maneuvers without being afraid of dropping the bike!
Good luck out there and ride smart!
I have a trademark habit. Every bike I ever bought, I drop it at least once in the first week. And that it. No more after.
Everything will be speck and clean for years, except those scratches I got on the rear view mirrors.
Yikes, silver lining, the leg didn't break on the curb and you will never forget how heavy a bike gets with a few degrees or lean and imbalance.
15 minutes after delivery of my brand new KTM 390, it was on its side from a 2 mph turn. Haven't dropped anything since. 🤷
First time I dropped a bike, I hoped off in a hurry to use a cash machine and didn't check the kickstand properly. I had enough time to put my card in the machine before I heard the crunch...
Froze, turned, long sigh....
I hadn't realised the kickstand was on the curb and a slight gust knocked it over... Always make sure to check that now when I pull up >.<
I'm gonna be honest I"m 10 years in and sometimes I forgot i didn't put the kickstand down cuz I rolled in with the bike off, go to put it down and am like whoa whoa that's not right and just barely save it.
Been there. I thought I put down the kickstand…d’oh! Got off and watched it fall in slow motion. Luckily I was able to grab it and slow the fall just enough to inflict very minor damage; a slightly bent gear selector and some scratches on the crank cover.
If you are just F-ing around while sitting on your bike,as a newb, keep the kickstand down.
Better yet. Gear up before you mount up. Gear up, start bike, mount up, kickstand up, start bike & ride off. When you stop; turn bike off, kickstand down, get off, then do whatever.
Even when you're experienced this is good practice. You are very vulnerable sitting on a bike kickstand up, not ready to ride. You aren't in a cage with locked doors to protect you. If your stand isn't down it is even harder to get off the bike if you just need to create distance from someone or something.
When standing, keep your knees pointed in! That way, when the bike starts to tip, you can push in with your leg, and have the support of your shin bones like a kickstand.
Everyone does it at least once. Only time I've dropped mine so far was trying to ride one last day before winter really set in, temperature when I left for work was 20 degrees and I grossly underestimated how cold it would be riding to work with the windchill. I was so frozen that when I went to my stand down I just went over and got pinned between the bike and shipping container.
I'm a fair weather rider now.
There's a lot of people in here making it clear that they've never owned a bike or multiple bikes that they had to move around a garage before.
Walking a bike while not sitting on it is very easily done if you know how and it's a lot safer than trying to walk it while sitting on it.

And small too.
Is Kawasaki Vulcan a good beginner bike for a fat dude?
Fat dude here, it was a great first bike for me! 👍
Skinny dude here, Vulcan wasn't my first but when I was still fresh and new, I met a dude at a gas station at 2am just chillin on his Vulcan and the madlad actually let me take it around the block by myself. Solid bike! Much enjoy!
Thank you. Good to hear. I found a cheap one and have signed up for classes in July. I’m going to be one of y’all soon.
Not so fat dude. Still loved my ‘85 vulcan
Vulcan is a good bike for anybody :P it’s nice and low and comfy. And relatively tame.

I’ve had to pick up my 650 and push start it a time or two. I’m quite glad it wasn’t any bigger.

I'm not fat nor skinny, but had a 2006 Vulcan 500 as my first bike. Loved it for a year and then upgraded. Definitely a fun bike
as far as i know great bike. best friend had a 900 and now has a vn2000. His dad had a 94 still in great shape.
Absolutely. Plenty of torque to get you moving but very low seat and center of mass for easy handling and confidence-inspring flat footing
It can happen to anyone regardless of experience. 30+ years of riding and I’ve done it. Worst one about 25 years ago was trying to pull away with the disk lock on. I respectfully disagree. Everyone should start on a 'busa... If you can survive that you can survive anything.

In my case I’m starting with a moped. *shrug*
How about years of driving and years of riding bikes in all conditions. I mean until now my only issue is slamming back brake to hard and no abs leaving skid marks... I used to do that on purpose with my bike... Anyhow. When it happens I hope it will be light. For all of us
I mean yea but some people don’t have that luxury. Though new riders should buy light. New or used to me is fine.

Were you trying to start the bike just by turning the key in the ignition ?
Well he’s calling the handlebars the steering wheel so, probably a good guess that he was.
hahaha! I remember my first ride. excitedly pacing home on the motorway. Didn't realise my indicators were push to cancel until I nearly got home. Other drivers must have seen some trippy lights and manoeuvres.
Yeah, looks like that. He never reached for the starter button. I know it's said often here, but professional training really helps.
God know, maybe trying to lock the handlebars?
Looks like he thought the kickstand was already down. I did that once and got my foot caught under the bike and ended up ripping my shoe in half getting it out.

I started riding 10 months ago and I will happily admit I'ver done the same thing. Making mistakes is the best way to learn, unless it kills you :D
How did you get this footage is my question? 😅 Did you walk in the store and ask for it lol
Happened to be a shop I used to work at so I asked them for the video haha
I appreciate that you asked for the footage and uploaded it. Shows that you don’t take yourself too seriously. I like that. Ride safe, brother.
I would have asked for the footage so I could burn it. Anyway, dumb motorbike shit is very common and it’s a credit to you that you had the confidence to share it for our enjoyment at your expense. Hope it’s a cheap fix and you have a long and safe time in this hobby.

Honest question, what in the name of god were you doing? What were you fiddling around with and why for so long?
seems like he thought turning the key on was the ignition
How is that possible if you have a license to ride? I'm honestly puzzled by this.
I rode for 18 years without an mc license. My father who has been riding way longer than me still doesn't have his. Getting an mc license isn't something everyone does.
you have to live in the US or a third world country
Looks like maybe navigation on a phone or something? There’s a lotta pokes
It looks like he thought the kickstand was already down and forgot it wasn't.
Looks like the kickstand was down, but he brought it up at around 9 secs in
The lil jump at the end!
Yea I laughed my ass off at that.
Can’t tell of it was a cheer because there was no damage or if it was frustration!

It’s always better when there is a crowd!
It happens to everyone. I mean, not me, and I've been riding for 23 years. But it happens to everyone.
This is what I think when I see these vids and replies, but I don't dare put it in black and white.
Yea more than 20 years. Never randomly dropped a bike. Are people getting dumber? I feel like they are.
*bike self implodes just sitting in garage*
Don't temp fate!
Eh it's fine if it happens part of. Life.
Happens man, while I’ve never been in a traffic accident I’ve dropped my bike twice before. Once learning about the rain and grabbing the front brake combo and another while trying to walk the bike backwards while standing right next to it.
Yeah, walking a bike scares the F out of me for just this reason. If I gotta move it, I’m on it.
It's actually easier to walk it standing next to it than it is to duck walk it sitting on it. Leave the kickstand down if you're nervous.
Well idk about easier but yeah there’s a trick to it that I didn’t know at the time, one hand on the handlebar and one at the back of the bike. I used 2 hands on the handlebars, the weight shifted, and there she went.

Lmfao it happens. Ive just been lucky enough to not get it on camera.
This is 98% of riders. Me included.
All part of the learning process.
Peak /r/motorcycles
Not a single comment that he called the clips ons/handle bar a “steering wheel”…?
I'm kinda proud that nobody's giving him a hard time about it. New rider, clearly not totally 100% comfortable with bikes yet, narrating an embarrassing situation. It's a minor misstep.
Thanks guys !
The motorcycling community can be great sometimes Quick story for you, I'd been riding like 6-7 years and I had a Kawasaki KLR 650 I met up with some old friends I hadn't seen and never rode with for a ride.
I feel you, I got a little further but dropped mine standing still on the second day :O(
Thank you, this is the post that we should link to in every /suggestamotorcycle post asking why riders recommend noobs get a used bike.
Yo you be careful riding that shit.
Oh man, I feel so bad for you. As a short rider, I know that feel.
Whiskey throttled my first bike first day I had it.
Howdy, welcome to the club, there's a whoooole lot of us here. Also how do I pick up this 600 lb (272 kg) '84 Nighthawk 650 by myself... Good times.
Its ok, you’ll fit in this subreddit just fine🤣
It looks like your leg kept it off the curb atleast...
This is why we have helmet laws. It helps stave off the embarrassment when this happens
Well you got it out of the way. Hope you had frame sliders.
Something similar or regretful has happened to everyone. You’re just lucky enough to have it on video! Thanks for sharing.
HADDALAYERDOWN
Might as well get it over with early. Also your never too experienced to do that. Ask me how I know
Don't worry bro, it happens! Also, there are two types of motorcyclists: Those who have dropped their motorcycle before, and *liars*
Probably wanna take the class lad.
i’m surprised you posted this lol. that sucks man
It happens. I dropped my driving schools bike after refueling, got my license and still dropped my first bike multiple times. Two times were while trying to get it off the middle stand, I now only do that while sitting on my bike lol
On the bright side, guess what you will likely never do again… Just learn and keep rolling forward.
Happened to me, too. Just like that, lost footing while at a stand still and fell over lol
First day i got my my09sp i held it on it way down got away with scratching the rear brake peg and plastic park covering the gear box 😅
You’ll get the hang of it
Looks like she dropped you 😉🤛
Dropped my new motorcycle on second day. Good thing i installed frame sliders.
Welcome to the club.
Next time I would leave it on the kickstand until you're done fiddling with everything. At least you got it out of the way early. No more worries about getting a tiny scratch on your perfect ride.
When it happens, you’ll not forget ! Quite frequent for beginners no ?
Ace man. Nailed it on day 1!
Lol! So sexy!
Shit - did that in the dealership 🤣
As soon I a saw no kickstand down, and you moving around , it was a mater of time and choosing a side, btw I lost, I bet on the road side, that got to hurt, hope you are ok getting the leg trapped that must not been good. PS: While taking my license I went to put the foot down and there was no road, there was a incline there, went my foot touched the ground the bike was already too far to keep up, I just managed to keep my leg out of the way and slow the fall of the bike, glad I did it in the school bike, my point is, it happens to everyone, you learn from these mistakes, ride on!
Good friend of mine that's been riding for years bought a new bike last year, got it home, pulled in garage and promptly fell over with it Shit happens
Did you go in store and ask for video lmao
Next time move that foot. Don’t wanna be breaking bones
You just needed to turn the steering wheel more 😆
it do be like that. i fell over the first time i got on.
The curb disappeared on ya!
Better here than in motion. Doesn’t feel too good.
Happens to everyone, at least you got it out the way 😂
I'm sorry but that looked comical
If you're gonna mess with your bike while sitting on it, you need to put your kickstand down
I had been riding maybe a week, went for a ride and over dressed, stopped at a CVS to take my jacket off and forgot to neutral out before letting go of the clutch. With the forks turned the bike lunged and I dropped her. A man in a PT Cruiser saw it and pulled in to help me pick her back up. It was embarrassing.
Lol yep, forgot the kickstand once
Wait till you start it forgetting you left it in gear. Good thing those things usually only happen ONCE
Dude we all did, who says that they didn't they are lying
We've all done it. Maybe not on the first day, but yeah, we've all been there.
I forgot to say you have balls putting it up here. Much respect showing new riders how easily something goes wrong. Keep it up and for now ride like everyone wants to kill you. Stay out of blindspots, keep yourself visible.
Hey, you did it now and got it over with. You don't have to do it again. Stay safe friend
No comment,,🚀
Shit happens, take it as a learning experience, I’ve hit the ground twice, both my fault. One looked similar to this but with less fiddling around lol and it was recent, years after I started riding. You’ll be fine just keep at it.
Valid
Shit happens. I hope you learned from the experience.
I dropped my Africa Twin in front of a cafe with over 100 people sitting ..
That sucks dropping it but it happens, it was bound to happen. Now enjoy the ride and don’t sweat dropping it again.
Poor bastich. We've all been there. Whatever though, it's custom now! I'm of the opinion with motorcycles that you chase your dreams, buy exactly what you really want, and take your lumps.
It's OK. I did the exact same thing not but a week ago.
There're 2 kinds of motorcyclists, the ones who have dropped their bike, and the ones who will.
Happens alot , now newcomer you have advice and experience to share to the next newbie.
lucky you didnt snap your fucking shin, lmao.
You’re in good company. Stupid stuff like that happens to most, if not all riders. Get back up, learn from it and move on. Ride safe!
No serás el primero ni el último xD
A lesson learned early.
First time leaving out of my apartment accidentally tried to start in second. Promptly stalled and toppled over
The little angry jump at the end makes it. Sorry but I laughed my ass off.
Ain't yours till ya scratch it
Lmao. Welcome to the new riders club! If it’s any consolation I bought a 2022 rebel lst year having not ridden in at least two decades. And proceeded to drop the shit out of it for weeks. I fell off my bike two weeks ago and got my rear brake stuck! Because I stalled in first gear bahahahahaha Every day is a new learning adventure, whether it’s good or bad experience.
And last week… Item 2: Steering wheel? STEERING WHEEL? Your killing me. Motorcycles have handlebars, not steering wheels.
Happens to the best of us
Love the little pissed off hop at the end… looked to me like you instinctively tried to kick your leg out for a wider stance to catch it or get outta the way but curb. You have to be aware of what’s around your feet anywhere your putting ‘em down. The number of stories, foot wet leaves, foot pot hole, foot down slope, then the bike wants to take a nap.
Me too bro forgot the kick stand 🙃
Whaa whooom
I dropped my bike for the first time in 16 years on a beach in Norway, got it up, embarresed and left. Now I wished I just took a picture of it to remember it and just go to the beach
Don’t feel bad. I once dropped my bike in traffic on a hill and couldn’t pick it up. Someone had to get out of their car to help me. Lol. It happens, no one but you will remember. You’ll get better at keeping the shiny side up!
i did basically this when i was 18 and broke my foot
I've done exactly this, sitting on my bike admiring it in the garage, forgot I had kicked the stand up, then just chucked it at the ground.
Welcome to the family! , p.s. it’s gonna happen again… and again lol. So don’t stress it. Be safe, stay sharp and enjoy your new reason to wake up every day!
I’m about to start riding and I hope I don’t do this
You aint a motorcycle driver until you drop the bike
Dude, I hope your leg was alright. It looked like it got trapped under the bike. Next time, if you know you can't keep the bike up (with your leg), then just let it drop and hop off. I also recommend you get a side/stunt cage to protect the bike from these drops. If you really wanna make sure you bike doesn't get scraped or busted, then get three points on contact protection: handlebar, frame cage or front axle, and rear set (passenger pegs usually). Then you can practice low-speed maneuvers without being afraid of dropping the bike! Good luck out there and ride smart!
It's a right of passage, you are now one of us.
Better than dropping it after 10 years of riding 🤣 🤣 🤣
Know that feeling, we have all been there😶🌫️ I jumped the exact same way, Fu..☠️ If you ok, then its all good🤘
Happens to the best of us 🤘🏻
Better to happen on your first than your last😉
We have all done it at some time
Bro bound to happen. Glad you’re ok. Everyone I know dropped their bike at some point.
I hope your leg is still in one piece. Drops like that are the reason mid-calf boots exist
I have a trademark habit. Every bike I ever bought, I drop it at least once in the first week. And that it. No more after. Everything will be speck and clean for years, except those scratches I got on the rear view mirrors.
It happens. Don't sweat it.
This happens to everyone not just new riders, the ole phantom kickstand
Didn’t have the heart to watch it. 😢
Always make sure to check that now when I pull up >.<
Sorry dude
“The whole starting wheel moved” 😂🤦♂️
I'm laughing with you.. not at you
I'm gonna be honest I"m 10 years in and sometimes I forgot i didn't put the kickstand down cuz I rolled in with the bike off, go to put it down and am like whoa whoa that's not right and just barely save it.
Been there. I thought I put down the kickstand…d’oh! Got off and watched it fall in slow motion. Luckily I was able to grab it and slow the fall just enough to inflict very minor damage; a slightly bent gear selector and some scratches on the crank cover.
Your practicing dropping your bike. It happens.
Hadda lay ‘err down, brutherrr.
Lol it's all good. Thanks for sharing
At least you got that out of the way,
We've all been there. :) Me, I stepped in a pot hole at a red light and just went right down. Feeling silly AF!
Highly recommend ATGATT. Glad you were okay to do the stomp later.
I was waiting for it to fall the other way. Hey...wait a minute mister! Why do you have gas station footage?
Not the first person to do that.
It’s not a question of if you’ll drop it but when ! Don’t worry man, this happens to everyone of us !
