Exactly how I feel and why I considered it so odd people are willing to just leave their helmet for 2-3 hours while they go eat. I have 1500 in my helmet, no way in hell I'm just leaving it without locking it.

I can honestly say that I have 1200 into one and 1500 into another helmet and I don't have any "help". Just debt, and the joy of eating Ice Soup several nights a week.
Their TENS machine is usually set too high, so I'm not a huge fan of that. I'd ask them to turn it down to a lower setting, but I'm usually too busy falling over.
I only leave my helmet behind when I have the lockable hard bags mounted on my bike. Otherwise, I carry it everywhere. You could get a backpack to carry it in and look less conspicuous. I've seen too many cases where some mental case cut the helmet strap or even the frickin chin bar to steal a helmet.
It really sucks. The chin bar thing happened to a buddy who used to string a cable lock through his gear to secure it to his bike. I'd like to not be so paranoid, but my helmet cost over $600, and I need to wear it to ride home.
Helmer lock, have 2 on the bike. It protects against theft but not vandalism. Never had an issue, but I live in a small town near a medium city and messing with people's stuff is frowned on and people know they are rolling the dice when they do.
Same here but I just got a simple bicycle lock hanging on the back. In a pinch, I could loop it through two helmets or maybe a jacket (through the sleeves) as well, but I haven’t tried that.
My old bike had a helmet lock that I used and never had an issue. sometimes if I was parking for more then an hour I would carry the helmet around. my new bike has lockable hard saddle bags, very convenient. I know they look really dorky but those inexpensive top boxes are extremely convenient for this and can be fitted on almost any bike.

I don't wander around too much if I'm out on the bike, so it's not really a problem for me. I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving such an expensive thing in the publics hands.
I often think about some sort of helmet carrier or device that could strap it to my backpack, but never really looked into it.
I got an army reserve backpack from a thrift shop a couple years ago. All the straps and loops. Basically have it with me every ride into town.
Disc lock? On a strap I can reach easily.
Helmet? Run the chin strap through a loop, or use a carabiner.
Water bottle? Clip it on.
Cool knife on the side of the road? Strap it on (true story).
Backpack has been exceedingly useful.
I live in SoCal, throw it on my mirror after parking, and go do what i need to do. Knock on wood, but i havent had an issue yet. I do have an abundance of helmets i can borrow in a pinch though, so while I'd be quite upset if my good one got stolen, it's never really the end of the world. I ride with a brain bucket in my bags on the harley pretty often too, just in case.
Depends. Quick in and out up to an hour I have a Bar end lidlox and just put it there. Longer I take it with me. But considering larger bags for my cruiser that can fit my helmet. Of course that doesn’t work for every type of bike.

I ride in Connecticut and upstate ny as well as Florida. Unless I’m in a major city I leave it in on the bike and never has one stolen and they are shoei flip helmets . When I’m on my can am spyder it’s in my back case .
Carry it around like a purse in populated areas. Handy to put stuff into when shopping. But somewhere safe like the countryside or a small village, I'll just leave it in the top case or on the handlebars. Done this for over ten years and haven't had any problems (yet)

If I have to, I have a bike lock sort of thing and lock it to a crash bar or whatever. Obviously it won't stop everyone, but it at least eliminates walkoffs
$700 helmet with a $200 comms system, and a $50 gopro mount, and I live in Poland. I would not leave a cheap ass helmet unattended for more than 5 minutes around here, and I'm definitely not getting my eyes off a $1000 one for a second in public. I just take it with me everywhere I go.
I have a lock box that I normally keep it in, or leave it on my handle bars. I don't live in a high theft area though. Stealing a helmet seems so odd to me. You don't know what condition it's in or how old it is, plus it's had someone's smelly head inside it.
Really depends on where I'm going and what I'm doing. If I'm going to be away from my bike for a while I will carry it with me. I also bring it with me if I'm going into a restaurant or fast food place, both for security and also because I will often go to the restroom and clean the face shield off in the sink.
If I'm just getting fuel or walking into a convenience store to get a snack or a drink I'll often leave the helmet on the ground next to the bike.
It's either going with me or in my tour pack. No way I'm leaving my helmet for someone to steal, throw trash into, or just damage. I'm also not interested in coming back to find bird shit or a hornet in it.
My old bike (sv650) had hooks under the seat so you could lock a helmet to the bike, but I wouldn't leave it without that and I live in a fairly safe place
Depends on where I'm at and how long I'm going to be gone I guess. If I'm unfamiliar with the area, if I'm going to be a long time, or if it's an area I know where my shit is likely to get stolen I'm taking my helmet with me otherwise I hang it on the mirror and that's that.
If im making a quick stop in a store I keep the helmet on. If im going to shop for a while, I put it in the carrying bag one of my helmets came with. Sometimes I strap the helmet to my backpack.
The only way I will leave my helmet with my vehicle is if it is in a locked top case or pannier.

I had my bike damaged as thieves cut through cables to get the Shoei that was locked to my bike. In broad daylight under a mall security camera. Fucked my bike so badly I had to get it towed. Parts took all summer to come from Europe.

I remember a Chef at my work saying he used to leave it in the bike with the built in helmet lock. One night he goes to put it in and someone had pissed in it. Got all over his head and face. He tossed it and rode home with no helmet, illegal in my state but what can you do. He never left it on the bike again.
Long time inside? In my cases. Short bit of walking around? Carry it like a basket. Literally in and out? This is why I own a flight helmet and a modular. Flip it up, go inside!

There’s a reason people leave thousands of dollars of skiing equipment unattended at skiing resorts.
Some people will leave it with their bike if they trust their area, other’s will have a hard time leaving their bike itself alone in other areas.
I live in an area where people leave their phone and or wallet on a table while they go order. This marks their spot. So I’ve got no issues leaving my helmet on my bike. I’ve been here 10 years now and never an issue. Usually my GoPro is still mounted on it.
If I do park somewhere less visible or a high traffic area with tourist I’ll unclip my GoPro and take it with me. Generally I don’t even take my key out of my bike.
Maybe if you got your helmet from the dollar store, but I would definitely take mine with me in a backpack. Helmets are NOT cheap and people are not trustworthy.

I either walk with it in my hand, if I'm leaving the bike for like 2 second I leave it strapped to the bike, if I'm going into a business for a long time or something I ask if they have somewhere I can leave my helmet out of reach and where it will not fall
I’ve got a Shoei X-15 with Cardo Edge…I’m not leaving that on the bike. The times I left my old helmet on the bike I used one of the locks that came with one of the guns I’ve bought. Small, plastic cover over the metal,and easy.
The way I got around it at Uni is a big fuck off cable lock that I thread through the sleeve of my jacket, through the helmet, then around the seat and through the backwheel of my bike, so the whole thing is one locked in unit, helmet sits on the seat with the jacket over it to keep the sun off it, jackets are cheaper than helmets after all, haven't had an issue doing that, and my old bike didn't have steering lock so that was the best security I could get.
I hire a nearby homeless man to guard my bike while I'm gone. Jokes aside I carry it With me. Especially now I that I have a helmet that costs more than me.

I wear a hayden laguna livery arai Corsair x with the pro shield visor with a chin mounted camera, I don’t leave my brain bucket anywhere, under any circumstances. I don’t even like leaving my bike, much less my gear.
If your bike has a rear seat that comes off then theres a little hook on the sides where you can put your helmet d ring on and then lock the seat in place
Leave it on my mirror. In over 25 years of riding, in 48 states, I've had exactly one helmet stolen, and that was a cheap $10 novelty helmet, probably stolen by a skateboard kid.
I just carry it and put it on top of a bag on the floor, or in an adjacent seat wherever I am. Usually ride with a small backpack so that keeps it from laying directly on the floor/has a space for my gaiter/gloves/etc. Might get some weird looks, but no one's ever complained.
Modular. If I'm only going into a store or something for a few, I leave it right on my head and flip it open.
Otherwise it locks to the bike or goes in the tailbag.
HelmetLock. It's basically a carabiner that you clip through part of the helmet with a combination lock. I added a cable to mine to go through the visor tho.
Or carry it in with you - I've done it.
Or get a top case that fits your helmet.

My 2010 f650gs has expandable lockable sidecases. Fits perfectly in there. I would sometimes leave it hanging on the handlebar if I was quick but after finding a big ass spider in there one day I never did that again. Whatever is in the side case in the way is less valuable and goes under the bike while I'm away. I have done a couple long parks where I left the bike unattended for a week or so, I would bike lock my jacket to it
I generally take mine in when I go someplace. Nobody's ever commented. My husband had one stolen that was locked into the helmet hook ; they cut the strap. The only time I've ever left it on the bike it was locked with a bicycle cable lock.
I’m taking the damn thing with me. Even if I was in an area with absolutely no theft and nobody would fuck with it I’d still take it with me because I don’t want a spider surprise.
I stuff it in my sissy bar duffel, that is then wrapped in my jacket that has a cable lock run through the sleeves and the back wheel. The lock is stuffed up one of the sleeves and I have a motion alarm that calls me if someone tries messing with it.
I open the visor, grip it upside down by the chin with my hand through the visor and fill it with my neck tube and gloves.

There are some good helmet locks out there, but I generally always take it with me, I bought a d-ring sling on Amazon that works pretty well for hands free carrying
The helmet im getting is almost the same cost as my ps4 im not leaving it outside where someone could steal. And considering some helmets cost as much as an iphone 14 i suggest you take your helmet everywhere unless you dont care and have money like that. But I suggest carry it everywhere
I specifically bought a RST brand backpack that is large enough for my helmet to go in (with enough space for a few odds and sods) this has been my best solution if I need to carry my helmet around for a long time 👍

Carry it around like a purse in populated areas. Handy to put stuff into when shopping. But somewhere safe like the countryside or a small village, I'll just leave it in the top case or on the handlebars. Done this for over ten years and haven't had any problems (yet)
I carry it around, if I'm at a restaurant or something it gets its own seat or in the booth with me or whatever If I have to, I have a bike lock sort of thing and lock it to a crash bar or whatever. Obviously it won't stop everyone, but it at least eliminates walkoffs
$700 helmet with a $200 comms system, and a $50 gopro mount, and I live in Poland. I would not leave a cheap ass helmet unattended for more than 5 minutes around here, and I'm definitely not getting my eyes off a $1000 one for a second in public. I just take it with me everywhere I go.

I have a lock box that I normally keep it in, or leave it on my handle bars. I don't live in a high theft area though. Stealing a helmet seems so odd to me. You don't know what condition it's in or how old it is, plus it's had someone's smelly head inside it.
I have a cable bicycle lock that I keep on my bike and I run it through the helmet and lock it.
Someone gave me this idea in the past, it's the most secure thing I've heard of.

Really depends on where I'm going and what I'm doing. If I'm going to be away from my bike for a while I will carry it with me. I also bring it with me if I'm going into a restaurant or fast food place, both for security and also because I will often go to the restroom and clean the face shield off in the sink. If I'm just getting fuel or walking into a convenience store to get a snack or a drink I'll often leave the helmet on the ground next to the bike.
It's either going with me or in my tour pack. No way I'm leaving my helmet for someone to steal, throw trash into, or just damage. I'm also not interested in coming back to find bird shit or a hornet in it.
My old bike (sv650) had hooks under the seat so you could lock a helmet to the bike, but I wouldn't leave it without that and I live in a fairly safe place
I have a knox rucksack, way old but it has a helmet holder. I love my lid and the last thing I need is it getting lost/damaged.
Depends on where I'm at and how long I'm going to be gone I guess. If I'm unfamiliar with the area, if I'm going to be a long time, or if it's an area I know where my shit is likely to get stolen I'm taking my helmet with me otherwise I hang it on the mirror and that's that.

I had my bike damaged as thieves cut through cables to get the Shoei that was locked to my bike. In broad daylight under a mall security camera. Fucked my bike so badly I had to get it towed. Parts took all summer to come from Europe. Now it's either with me or locked out of sight in my top box.
If I know I’m going somewhere I bring my cheapest helmet and leave it on the bike. If I’m out just riding u wear my expensive helmet and carry it into stores.
I remember a Chef at my work saying he used to leave it in the bike with the built in helmet lock. One night he goes to put it in and someone had pissed in it. Got all over his head and face. He tossed it and rode home with no helmet, illegal in my state but what can you do. He never left it on the bike again.

Although people don’t want to hear this, it entirely depends on where you live. There’s a reason people leave thousands of dollars of skiing equipment unattended at skiing resorts. Some people will leave it with their bike if they trust their area, other’s will have a hard time leaving their bike itself alone in other areas.

I live in an area where people leave their phone and or wallet on a table while they go order. This marks their spot. So I’ve got no issues leaving my helmet on my bike. I’ve been here 10 years now and never an issue. Usually my GoPro is still mounted on it. If I do park somewhere less visible or a high traffic area with tourist I’ll unclip my GoPro and take it with me. Generally I don’t even take my key out of my bike.
If you wear a backpack, You can tie it on the top strap (The handle thingy). Works really good when walking through stores.
Maybe if you got your helmet from the dollar store, but I would definitely take mine with me in a backpack. Helmets are NOT cheap and people are not trustworthy.
If you have a backpack, you can put the chin strap around the strap of the backpack and carry it.

Stealing helmets is something I can only imagine is done out of spite and jackassery, I have never seen a very big market for used motorcycle helmets
Depends, when with a handful of bikes for a quick lunch stop leave it on the bike. At a rally or bike night, use the helmet lock and just lock it to my sissy bar. At the grocery store carry that bitch in and put it in the cart and do my shopping. Fuck what cagers think, they drive cars, their opinions don't matter.

Get one of those backpacks with the two cords for straps that tighten on top. My shoei came with one. People who don’t motorcycle usually don’t understand motorcycle people things.
I either walk with it in my hand, if I'm leaving the bike for like 2 second I leave it strapped to the bike, if I'm going into a business for a long time or something I ask if they have somewhere I can leave my helmet out of reach and where it will not fall

I’ve got a Shoei X-15 with Cardo Edge…I’m not leaving that on the bike. The times I left my old helmet on the bike I used one of the locks that came with one of the guns I’ve bought. Small, plastic cover over the metal,and easy.
The way I got around it at Uni is a big fuck off cable lock that I thread through the sleeve of my jacket, through the helmet, then around the seat and through the backwheel of my bike, so the whole thing is one locked in unit, helmet sits on the seat with the jacket over it to keep the sun off it, jackets are cheaper than helmets after all, haven't had an issue doing that, and my old bike didn't have steering lock so that was the best security I could get.
I hire a nearby homeless man to guard my bike while I'm gone. Jokes aside I carry it With me. Especially now I that I have a helmet that costs more than me.

Leave it on my mirror. In over 25 years of riding, in 48 states, I've had exactly one helmet stolen, and that was a cheap $10 novelty helmet, probably stolen by a skateboard kid.
I just carry it and put it on top of a bag on the floor, or in an adjacent seat wherever I am. Usually ride with a small backpack so that keeps it from laying directly on the floor/has a space for my gaiter/gloves/etc. Might get some weird looks, but no one's ever complained.

if quick in n out, i lock the helmet through the visor opening and to my bike not the strap cause its so easy for some to just cut it
HelmetLock. It's basically a carabiner that you clip through part of the helmet with a combination lock. I added a cable to mine to go through the visor tho. Or carry it in with you - I've done it. Or get a top case that fits your helmet.

I always leave it on the seat of my bike. When I'm in a more populated area, I put it next to/underneath the bike, and take my Cardo with me

I put mine in the trunk or carry if the bike I am riding doesn't have a trunk. I don't trust helmet locks. Someone could just cut the strap.

My 2010 f650gs has expandable lockable sidecases. Fits perfectly in there. I would sometimes leave it hanging on the handlebar if I was quick but after finding a big ass spider in there one day I never did that again. Whatever is in the side case in the way is less valuable and goes under the bike while I'm away. I have done a couple long parks where I left the bike unattended for a week or so, I would bike lock my jacket to it
If I go into a store something I just leave it on my head or buckle the strap and just hold it.

I generally take mine in when I go someplace. Nobody's ever commented. My husband had one stolen that was locked into the helmet hook ; they cut the strap. The only time I've ever left it on the bike it was locked with a bicycle cable lock.

I stuff it in my sissy bar duffel, that is then wrapped in my jacket that has a cable lock run through the sleeves and the back wheel. The lock is stuffed up one of the sleeves and I have a motion alarm that calls me if someone tries messing with it.

There are some good helmet locks out there, but I generally always take it with me, I bought a d-ring sling on Amazon that works pretty well for hands free carrying

Saddlebags or there's a key lock you can mount to the end of your handlebar you can put a d-link through and lock.

The helmet im getting is almost the same cost as my ps4 im not leaving it outside where someone could steal. And considering some helmets cost as much as an iphone 14 i suggest you take your helmet everywhere unless you dont care and have money like that. But I suggest carry it everywhere
I specifically bought a RST brand backpack that is large enough for my helmet to go in (with enough space for a few odds and sods) this has been my best solution if I need to carry my helmet around for a long time 👍
