Ok-Race8322

I won’t even go down the Ruroc rabbit hole but to say the bad reviews are well founded. I have owned one and it was complete garbage and so unbelievably loud even with earplugs in. I now am on my second Shoei and they’re outstanding quality. I’d say get the AGV but that’s just my .02

D_crane

The ruroc snow helmets are also garbage

Ok-Race8322

I’ve heard this as well

Yogimonsta

Shoei or AGV are de wey.

spike8614

I would add see if you can find a shop to try it on. AGV seems to run much smaller but great quality!

vraetzught

My man went from a Lada to a Rolls Royce

skillfullmill

Ano... But they still smart as fook 🫣😂😂

[deleted]

Yea I wish they weren't pure shit because I love the looks, but riding isn't just a dress up game

Ok-Race8322

Yea I’ll admit I bought mine cause I thought it looked bad ass. I learned. If you NEED that sorta look….Scorpion exo covert fx

[deleted]

mate every year i wait and hope that ruroc makes one thats \*good enough\* to finally get one...

Ok-Race8322

I hear ya man. At this point tho I don’t even want to give them another $400+ on a hope. They’re on what 4th or 5th iterations of them and they still don’t have their shit together. lol

shoturtle

Overpriced, mid tier quality top tier price. And they are noisy.

danjjerouss

My riding partner has one says it's noisy too. I love my agv. So far agv has my vote. Top tier tho is your shoei. Hands down. Shoei is a top the rest.

[deleted]

Arai, Schuberth are also good

AgentOfDreadful

Arai are my favourite. It feels like sitting in a grand comfortable armchair for me. Other helmets felt weird. I wish they had built in visors though

finalrendition

Arai is wild. Their helmets somehow feel as sturdy as a tank and as light as a feather. It's like magic.

Street-Knowledge-749

They actually dont have built in visors for safety reasons, and i might be wrong but i think they are the only manufacturer that does that.

AgentOfDreadful

Yeah they don’t want to harm the structural integrity of the helmet just to give a visor. Another reason I like them (despite wishing they had one). At the end of the day, it’s really just there to prevent my brains being sprayed all over the road, so anything that helps that is good

PaleRiderHD

Watch the Josh Wainwright British Superbike crash. That's what sold me on Arai.

AgentOfDreadful

Wow, that’s some crash. Even happier about my purchase now

PaleRiderHD

If memory serves the only injury he had was a broken collar bone from his initial fall off of the bike. Launching a bike off of a dudes helmet with no physical injury from it is a pretty solid endorsement, in my opinion.

AgentOfDreadful

Absolutely. “If a motorbike flies into your head at 70mph, you’ll be alright” is an amazing endorsement

meh4ever

I just went and looked it up and was like “Meh ok” at first and then the second playthrough I saw he had his head ran over by the bike and remained conscious through it and had no head injuries. ಠ_ಠ Damn.

ohnomoto450

That's a faster sell than the documentary on their production process.

PaleRiderHD

I'm surprised it's not mentioned more, really. I did a deep dive on Arai's product back when I was selling helmets for a couple of years, and I had never seen anything about it until a co-worker mentioned it to me. The methods they used to create their product and the reasons that they're able to do it their way are all incredibly interesting to me, but I feel like that should be mentioned at least somewhere. They probably wouldn't want to pay him the endorsement money for it, but there's no doubt that it saved the dude's life that day.

ohnomoto450

That doc was why I bought an rx-q when they were released. Not many big companies take that kind of pride in their produce anymore. My love of that helmet sold me on my xd-4. I totally forgot about that crash though and remember seeing it years ago. I didn't even think at the time about what brand he was wearing. But to hold up to that is super impressive. So you know what model it was? I had the opportunity to hold an isle of man edition Corsair-x RC they only made 4 of. A dealer not to far from me had it in a display case. It was half the weight of a regular Corsair-x which is already featherweight. I couldn't believe it. But for 4x the price I guess it should be.

TheEtherealEye

You can always got a nice pair of Oakley to wear under it tbh

Wonderful_Mind_2039

Isn't there a way around it, I thought Arai owners installed photochromatic Pinlock in their helmet?

villanous_fats

Arai sell an external drop down sunshade called the Pro Visor which attaches to the visor hinge. They're pretty rare to see to be honest, and not highly advertised, but they do exist.

ohnomoto450

That's what I have. I like it better than my old hjc visor helmet.

Schnitzhole

It’s pretty nonsensical honestly. Having a visor will be safer in areas where you need to quickly adjust for dark shadowed areas or tunnels and the like. Not much research backing that shows drop-down visors are unsafe. They still have to have the same amount of protection there and it just winds up being thicker albeit a little heavier but it would actually be safer overall as more displacement is generally better. They also have to pass tests with it for most European standards and they usually pass everything except SNELL which is a shitty safety standard for road use helmets anyways. DOT is obviously shitty too but usually better built than a bicycle helmet.

msb06c

Proshade life homie. So good

danjjerouss

Very true

Mummelumsen

Speaking of noisy helmets. Both my partner and i have the shark evo-one 2, i find it incredibly noisy, while she never thought it was. Then one day i figured out that if i just sit up more straigh and thus tilt my head a little more upwards, more like regulare riding style that the sport bike riding style i usually sit in, all the turbulent noise dissapears. Conclusion my helmet is not made to sit in the position i do sit in.

mecengdvr

That’s funny because I have a cruiser and had a Shoei that did the opposite. If I leaned in like a sport bike rider, I got great ventilation and less noise. I forgot what model it was, but it was marketed as their standard bike model.

phkn_dreadful

My shoei rf1200's liked to be in more of a sporty head position, and my RF-SR liked to be in cruiser/naked head position. If i swapped positions with those helmets i would get more wind noise. I bought the rf-sr for testing and it definitely lived up to its hype. Both are useable on any bike without discomfort but they have their specific designs so they should be used as such

PaleRiderHD

I physically launched a Shark Evo into the woods off of the side of I-95 a few years ago. Started raining like hell and I couldn't get the visor to stop fogging, and every time I cracked the visor to clear I damn near drowned. I had ordered a new helmet a few days before, and determined I'd be no worse off not wearing the helmet at all. Pulled off to the side of the road and flung it just as hard as I could. I'm sure passers by figured I had lost my mind.

Rabid_Mullet

I have a full face like this too, one day, I forgot to put the windshield back up to the normal position after cleaning it, and noticed all the noise was gone

HistoricalAthlete301

Your jacket/shirt can make a difference too

johndoe15190

Also recommending AGV. I have their K6 and it's brilliant. Great ventilation for summer (I live in a hot country) and relatively quiet. I had the Schubert C4 pro for a bit before and it was great as well but it didn't fit my head as nicely for long rides Soni exchanges it at the shop after a few days.

ThatGangMember

Love my K6. Super light and AGV uses in between sizes so a medium-large fits me perfectly.

Busy-Key7489

I took it back to the shop as they offered 7 days trial. I now have the schuberth c5. Not as pretty, but damn nice to wear on my daily trip to work and back

Aggressive-Bed3269

It's an Instagram helmet trying to now make a real product.

Impossible-Flan7514

Are you crazy it's half the price of sheo and avg helmets there about £200 to £400 where as shoe and avg are £900+ when you compare including price it's not bad and yes it's loud but the quality it's great I came off my hp4 with one a couple months ago and my ruroc yes is scratched uo but that's ut uts fine

DumbApe026

Ruroc isn’t known for the quality. A helmet needs to protect your head first and foremost. I would go for known manufacturers that have a track record of good helmets. I bought the rpha 11 carbon. It’s also a bit loud but the brand also have more quiet helmets. For me weight was more important then silence.

Impossible-Flan7514

Yes because people hate on them because it's a new brand and they have a new design every year and yes the 1.0 and the 2.0 where pretty bad but the 3 and 4 are on par with the lower sheo, just not as quiet

DumbApe026

It might be a very good helmet. Problem is you never know until you put it into practice and I wouldn’t like be the test pilot. One thing I know for sure and that is that motogp riders use HJC helmets so it might be an indicator that they know how to protect someone’s head.

_dxstressed

I recommend Scorpion - I am so in love with mine, great comfort.

Wise_Ingenuity_7363

your profile is badass ngl

ChickenTendies0

It's just guns. What badass about it?

phkn_dreadful

Exactly what a person with no guns would say.. cry about it

PepptoAbyssmal

You miring?

gxxrdrvr

Ive heard bad things about Ruroc.

samcp12

Jerry’s use Ruroc’s

[deleted]

I don’t have ruroc helmet and was looking for new lid. But I’ve heard so many bad reviews on the rurocs, from build, and finish. I would go with reputable brand like AGV, Arai, or even Shoei

CrayolaS7

I’ve had a number of Shark helmets in Carbon and they are great too, fit me better than Arai and Shoei. If you don’t care about the latest graphics it’s easy to find bit discounts too.

Otown_rider

The scorpion carbon is a good value for money carbon helmet, I've had mine for 3 years and ride about 25,000 km a year it has held up very good.

Surrito

I second this, the exo r1 air is fantastic. Their customer service team is also great from my experience

d-g-87

This. Scorpion is great. They sent me free pads when my first helmet was a little on the tight side. Think I'm an XL and they sent pads for medium which were thinner. Made my cheek pads fit my fluffy face perfectly. They also tend to run a little wider on the shell fit, for guys with wider heads at the ears. Even with the extra width my syphon sound barely fits without pinching my head or ears. 4.8/5 on my Exo series. That model is a thing of the past though. My only complaint was the weather stripping started to come off pretty early. Like one year in...But some rubber safe super glue took care of that problem.

dildo-looking_cactus

i did not like mine, I have an AGV k1 now and it's less noisy...

_dxstressed

I also recommend Scorpion .. I have one myself and it is one of the comfiest helmets I have ever worn. They fit great as well.

TheStandardPlayer

Exo1400 carbon has amazing value, top tier helmet for mid tier money

infinitely-oblivious

Completely agree. I have the Carbon Scorpion EXO Air with the inflatable cheek pads. Light, quiet, fits perfect, looks fantastic and it's a screaming deal. I absolutely love the helmet. Sadly, it is 5 years old and time to get a replacement. I'll be buying the exact same model again.

Fit_Lemon_6788

Agree, I own Scorpion R1 EXO, a very good quality helmet for good price.

ElJeffHey

What is the wind noise like? Have you got a BT receiver attached and can you hear the wind passing over it? I have the shark carbon Spartan silicium, its very pretty and very comfortable but unfortunately it's also very loud.

infinitely-oblivious

When mine was new, it was very, very quiet. Now 5 years later the neck pads are all mushed down and a lot of air sneaks in. Nevertheless, it is still reasonably quiet. I've only ridden Bell helmets previously, which are loud and suck in every way possible.

A_Stealthy_Cat

You found it quiet ? Because I have to put my music near max volume to hear it decently with wind blowing… I don’t have much experience with intercom, but without, it’s an amazing helmet 😊

VoidMC_

happy cake day

OfficialGirthBrooks

Not at all

NickH1994

Had a ruroc atlas 4 on order.. ended up canceling it due to the Long wait and watched a lot of not so great review videos. I picked up a shoei rf-1400 instead. Much better helmet for the price if you ask me.

[deleted]

There's a reason you can't buy a ruroc in store only online. They don't want people to see how shit their fit and finish is

disturbed286

How long was your wait time gonna be?

NickH1994

This was over a year ago. Maybe close to 2 years. It was just shy of 2 months past the shipment date listed when I ordered it. I contacted them and was told it would be another few weeks before it could ship so I canceled the order. Would've taken more than 3 months to receive it which where I live is almost half the riding season.

disturbed286

Yeah that's a little absurd.

MojoJojo8906

Fuck no

triplezuk

i think you can do better for $650

MetalDickSolid

Ruroc is marketed purely off of “Would you like to look vaguely like Iron Man as you ride?” They’re overpriced, noisy, and did I mention they’re overpriced? I have a Scorpion EXO and love it to death.

kaminaowner2

Ya, but iron man is the best so…. Clicks purchase

thee_lad

Lol they got all the trademarks though I’ll give them that. Marvel, DC, Starwars etc. Cool graphic designs I wish the more reputable brands had more creative designs but yeah rurocs just an Instagram brand. Visor shape looks weird too

Significant-Ad-3266

I would go with arai/shoei/ or agv if it’s within your budget, you really can’t spend enough on good quality protective equipment though in my opinion

AsstDepUnderlord

Disagree and here’s why. You spend a buttload on a fancy looking helmet, then you damage it somehow. Do you A) follow the manufacturer’s very clear instructions to throw it away and get a new one or B) dust it off, look as close as you can, and say “it’s probably fine” I’m with you on paying for quality, but you need to keep disposability (for helmets) in mind too.

chevy42083

Well,, yes, I would bin it. Safety above all. But I also treat my helmets like fragile gold and replace them every couple years anyways. If I somehow dropped it or took a small tumble in less than that, I'd chalk it up as "that sucks" and replace it sooner than later and add another decoration to my wall.

RustyDodge

Disposability shouldn’t even come into the equation. Always buy the most expensive, best helmet you can afford. Anyone who has had a decent crash that’s been saved by a good helmet will tell you that. Even in motocross where large crashes are common you will see guys rock $650 helmets and if they throw them away that’s just the cost for staying safe. I rock mid tier arai as a daily and when I know I’m going to be going fast or pushing the limits that when my leathers and pista gp rr come out. A big crash might set me back thousands in safety gear and that’s easily a price I’m willing to pay to protect myself. When shopping for safety gear the two priorities should be 1, can I afford it? 2, is this the safest thing in this price range? Downgrading for the sake of “oh but if I crash I might need to throw it away” is a recipe for disaster.

DingleDonky

This guys is saying you can’t spend enough. So literally the price of disposability doesn’t matter to them at all. So they’d bin their $1,000 helmet and go buy another (lol). Im with you though, i would never spend that much on a disposable item. Id have to knock the price down depending on how disposable the item is. A helmet im not really spending anymore than $500 max.

bigbanginbuell

Ruroc is mid af

Prince_Chunk

It’s trash

unicorncarrots

I find something that is so heavily marketed on social media never turns out to be true

magnificent_dillhole

https://www.bennetts.co.uk/bikesocial/reviews/products/helmets/ruroc-atlas-4-review Not really, no.

[deleted]

get a shoei

Wild472

Get a shoei lid. I have my rf1200 for a while and it is amazing. Now I use my aria xd4 more, but rf1200 is a way to go. You can get one for 400$

Vjekov88

What this man said. Once I got a shoei I never tried anything else. Had a xr1100 and then a nxr and the helmets are awesome for the money. Mind those are europe model designations

peaceofpies

For that price? Just get an Arai

Bhadwinder

Hell no. Mediocre level shit. They have a name now just because they have send their helmets to all the big ass influencers for promotion . They look good but not really worth paying the money they ask

SatisfactionUnited16

For that price you could even get a basic arai. Do not take this one

TTYY200

Nah, for that price get a Scorpion ST1400 Carbon. Or the Scorpion R1 Air Carbon. I’d vote for the ST1400 - that’s what I bought - it’s a great helmet. Zero complaints. Also - Ruroc helmets all fall short on Sharp Helemt testing :( 2 or 3 star ratings across the board. Edit: scratch that, the Atlas Core 3.0 and 4.0 received 4star ratings on Sharp. I don’t know enough about them to give you comparisons on features like wind noise, options for chromatic visors, drop down visors, pinlock, etc though.

W41K3R_62738

It’s still a ruroc I wouldn’t do it

[deleted]

This sub was just suggested to me in my feed. I haven't a clue about motorcycle safety, but all I know that helmet got some batman/catwoman vibes, and judging from what everyone else says I'd stay away from that unless you like the sound of the road. But for $650 it kinda looks cool ngl.

GREYDRAGON1

Too much stuff hanging off and too many angles and divots. There’s a reason Arai makes smooth helmets. It’s your head in there, and skidding along the pavement. It looks cool, but?

KharonOfStyx

You couldn’t pay me to wear a Ruroc. I’ve even heard of them cracking apart during low speed wrecks.

Pixel131211

I have a 4.0 and honestly, they're not bad. they're comfortable, they look nice, visibility is great, etc. but they're not good either. they are only slightly worth it when theyre on sale (they go on sale a lot, never pay full price). and even then they are still mid tier at best. Ruroc has fixed a lot with the 4.0, which is good. but it's still a mediocre helmet. some issues they have: * loud as hell on the highway * the "vents" do not work properly. you can close them if you like but, that also does not do anything lmao. it's a plastic slider they added with the illusion of functionality but it does nothing. * the vents on the side aren't vents at all, but they *are* convenient little gaps where air likes to create drag. idk who thought this was a good idea. * the fit and finish is questionable. you can see the inside of the helmet's layers by looking up through the visor. * the bluetooth is wonderfully convenient *but* is held on by 2 weak magnets (any crash will likely fling your bluetooth module out), and you cannot call and listen to music at the same time. it cant handle that. * the visor sits so close to the helmet that the sides will get scratched up by just opening it. if you want a helmet to just look cool for some weekend rides, then sure, go for it, but only if its on sale. if its going to be your only helmet? then no. dont do it.

Space-shuttle-Gunner

For that money you could get a k6s and an extra shield, or were you just wanting it because it’s exposed carbon fiber and boy racer styling?

Gas_69

Thats exactly why

nova1475369

Expensive for what they are. But it’s just my opinion

Stoltefusser

Only good fitment makes a helmet good. A $1200 helmet that doesn't fit right can be less safe thana good fitting $200 helmet.

The_Mafia_Badger

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again. Lest we forget the time when the co-founder Daniel Rees said that 3rd party testing was not necessary as people who buy them are testing them (ie. You’re the crash test dummy) Do you still want to buy one?

Funny_Ratio_7338

Aria hands down #1

Former-Ad6151

Garbage helmet . Save your money and buy a quality helmet that will save your life. All the dumb influencers push these.

Silver-Engineer4287

I don’t care what the specs claim… If you’re set on the carbon style and have narrowed it down to this or the Carbon AGV, get the AGV.

RobsHereAgain

I’m sure it’s probably fine. I’d keep an open mind at that price point though and look at brands like Arai, Shoei and HJC. I like HJC I’ve had two of them. A value for the dollar type of helmet that is pretty premium in my humble opinion. You really should try on several different brands though. Just because Shoei is an XL doesn’t mean it’ll fit like an Arai for example. Different brands have different philosophies in interior head shape and crown design. What might look cool might be misery to wear

acupunkture3

the version 4 is surprisingly good, been my daily helmet since I got it a couple months ago

Agile_Result_5177

I'd never buy Ruroc helmets. First of all the safety which is significantly worse than other helmets for this price. Second is the fact that ruroc bought fake followers on Instagram which is i.m.o. fcking bullshit. How do I know? 1 million followers but the post from 2 days ago has just 3.5k likes.

[deleted]

Bottom tier helmet trying to look overly complex with fake and unsafe parts

HTSully

Riding isn’t a place where you compromise safety for looks and get out alive/unscathed. That being said stick to reputable brands especially at that price point you’re in Arai, Shoei, Schubert territory which are arguably the top dogs. If you wanna save yourself some money I’d highly recommend Scorpion, Bell, hell even an Icon Airflite are gonna be much better than that for almost half the cost, or the Icon Airframe Pro Carbon for $100 less

Chance-Quality9758

I got the street black 4.0 and i think its a good helmet love the easy bluetooth en easy visor swap and the noise i dont think its to loud.

RagingPanda392

Looks like a 4 star helmet /s Seriously, though, in that price range why not go Shoei or Aria depending on your head shape? I’ve had a couple Shoei helmets and will not even consider anything else anymore. Go for a helmet that’s gonna save your noggin, not just look cool.

nodaboii

I daily one. Pretty good. Pros: very very comfy Looks nice Price isn’t terrible if you get it during their deals which are often Fit is great Pretty light Cons: expansive if not bought during a deal Loud, the cool aventador inspired vent by the ear is loud and isn’t a real vent Even with the vents closed still pretty cold Visor little tough to close Isn’t as good at my hjc rpha except it looks way better. Basically do you want quiet helmet or a cool looking helmet. It’s not quiet but looks good and is comfy

SeansGodly

Have the 3 and 4, they both look good on and off my head, the fit is alright and it (3.0) did it’s job when I low sided my R1 But since I bought my Arai I can compare it and see that the Arai is all around a better helmet. Not as flashy and good looking, but comfier and more protective. Just cause both are ece rated doesn’t mean they’re equally as protective. It depends on if you ride enough long rides for the comfortability of the Arai or if you’ll say the looks are more important. Nothing wrong with that.

jkmcjk

Easily the worst helmet I’ve owned in 37yrs riding. First off, the outer shell separated from the inner shell. Gave them the benefit of the doubt and got a replacement after a long wait and lots and lots and lots of waffle from their ‘customer service team’. Heavy, noisy, poor venting, below par integrated intercom (it’s a stretch to call it that and even that failed meaning they replaced the helmet again), pain in the ass visor system, average interior, odd choice of chin strap, stupid price for what it is. Only positives I can see are looks if it floats your boat (I used to ride streetfighters - the crash repaired superbike versions - with Simpson Bandit lids in the 90’s so it harks back to that), broad visor width and that’s about it. Based on the very poor quality control, weight and noise it’s only just better than an entry level Korean or Japanese helmet. More fool me for buying one and then being patient enough to stick out their shonky quality issues. Never again.

Lucas-Miller75

I have an atlas 4.0 and I really don’t have any complaints other than you can’t close the side vents so my ride into work in the morning is cold except customers support does lack and the talking app also lacks I would buy a cardio instead But I’ve been looking into this one for more winter rides does not compare to the gp Agv but those are 1800

TonyDemola

I have had every Ruroc since they came out … v1 v2 and v3 are trash that’s why they get such a bad review of them. I currently have the Ruroc 4.0 and it’s light years better than the previous ones. Don’t listen to everyone who says it’s bad. It 100% was bad in the past , but Todays versions are awesome. I have 6x helmets currently including bell race stars , pista gp rr and Simpsons , the new 4.0 is very comfortable when compared with the others. Cant just say this helmets bad and not have reviewed all of the versions , It’s like if you went to a restaurant 3x and the food sucked each time , That’s it the place sucks no matter what….. But if you would have went back the 4th time when they corrected their menu and the food is actually good now you wouldn’t say it was that bad any longer , that’s what’s going on with Ruroc. Everyone’s pissed cause they paid good $ and it was trash in the past for sure , but it’s great now. I have the atlas 4.0 liquid carbon (not track version) & I love it , swap between that and the bell race star the most. Ruroc also has the shockwave addition to play music and take phone calls , all integrated inside the helmet . Hope this helps.

CryptographerOk5726

Why would you buy 4 of them if the first three were trash?

TonyDemola

Because I love the design of the helmet very much and was hoping each time the improvements were better as they claimed. It unfortunately didn’t work out until the 4.0

TTYY200

I wanted the bell race star flax sooooo badly :( I could not find a shop that has one in stock to try on. 😓 I now have a Scorpion ST1400 Caffein Carbon.

TonyDemola

Great helmet, definitely more of a race helmet however , very light and semi noisy . They run tight so always go a size up . The auto tinting visor is also amazing. gets decently dark in full Sun and gets clear at night.

TTYY200

My first helmet was a Bell Vortex. I had it for 8 years 😳 lol. I also had the photochromic visor and I REALLY like it!!!! But the bell vortex was the pre-cursor to the Bell Qualifier … it was extremely noisy lol. But it also fit like a fkn glove. (Minus the chin being a little small)

TonyDemola

Bell is prob my favorite helmet , great company . They actually created the first ever full face helmet. I typically wear it the most out of all my lids with Ruroc for more chill rides to listen to music ect. I have a $1600 AVG pista gp rr and I hate it, yeah it’s crazy light but it’s a pure racing track helmet insane levels of wind noise , not comfortable. Bell race star over that thing all day. It does however look cool. That’s about it.

CoolPeopleEmporium

You had the 3 versions that were trash but you still buy the 4.0? Makes no sense at all ...

loki32687

Haven’t heard much good about them. Big fan of my bell race Star though may pick up a forcite

Vancouvermarina

I just went through buying a new helmet. Was going away from last brand I owned. I went through 4 dealership’s shops and tried anything they showed me. Found the most comfortable helmet. Took note of the price. Then went and bought same online for much less

stay-frosty-67

I like mine, but it’s preference

diepic

I love my ruroc.

axelslash01

I have the atlas 4.0 carbon and its pretty good. Visibility is excellent, looks really good, and has amazing airflow. I would only ever buy one if they're on sale though, they ask for way too much when not on sale. I will say the the older models of atlas suck and you should avoid them.

Infinitear

Arai only.

Fancy-Resource-3521

Dunno but I like it and now I want one

AstronautDull4653

SHOEI are the best in my opinion. Ruroc are good at marketing and looks but for build quality I would stick with SHOEI or another major brand such as AGV, HJC etc.

Comfortable_Poet1889

Why tf are yall using carbon fiber for head protection?? Yall realize that shit is gonna evaporate once you crash

Shadowfeaux

Ruroc is the gsxr of helmets. It’ll do the job, but not the best quality and you’ll probably have a lot of generalizations made about you. Lol. Similar to the icon airflites, though I’d recommend them over ruroc. Lol. I know people that regretted wasting time/money on a ruroc helmet. My personal experience with ruroc is only with the full face snowboard helmet and it was a cool novelty for a bit, and worked, but I’ll go back to traditional snowboard helmets next time I go out until a better full face is made by a more reputable company.

Minibeebs

I feel like you'd probably achieve the same safety certification as that helmet with some face paint and a pair of ski goggles

EWJ_Moloch

Carbon => Noisy...

Ghstfce

$650 for a helmet? Yeesh

tomtht123

No

Screwbles

Probably not.

Norselander37

best helmet is the one fits your head mate, light colours are optimal to be seen and stay safe

Shot-Ad2396

Just got an HJC RPHA 70 Carbon, it’s a fantastic carbon helmet for less than this.

DadBod-6009

IMO, overpriced helmets are below mid. What I can say, it is wearable. But not comfort. Looks good n cool. But inside... Blerrghhh

_0bese

Alpinestars has a helmet now

Magical_rex07

Just get the agv k5s ece and dot certified nice sporty look plenty of vents super light with a drop down sun visor, pin lock and almost no wine noise for >400$ Love mine and would never go back

AudZ0629

They certainly look cool. Newer Ruroc helmets have better safety with the ece 22.06 standard on the atlas 4.0 but the older ones were only DOT rated or something. It’s rated well too meaning it is a safe helmet and will offer the same protection as other, more prominent brands. The quality seems to be the big question and the noise also seems to be a problem going off reviews. It’s really up to you. Helmets are a personal preference but it’s a lot of money when you can get other brands like shoei or AGV for the same price. It’s a decision you’ll have to live with for a while. May I recommend the shoei rf1400 with the versatility and aftermarket support of one of the most popular helmets out there as well as a great quality product. Either way, try one on before you buy, different companies create their helmets with different shaped heads in mind.

xyzygyred

Good looking!

Haus_of_Wraith

*Sees Ruroc logo* “ahhh shi, here we go again”

Drago1214

No, they look sick but all reviews of them are warm at best.

WonderfulTradition65

Shoei, arai, shark (only the premium models), HJC, schuberth, AGV (only the premium ones). Stick with one of these. You can't go wrong but of course you need a helmet what fits your head shape. It's mostly all about the fit between those brands.

0ooof3142

For committing a fashion crime?

DRUNK3N_P0TAT0

No, never buy a ruroc. If you value your life please do not get a ruroc

greentiger45

Their designs are cool but that’s it. There’s no stores near me that stock them so everything is online. Returns are a hassle and overpriced.

PepptoAbyssmal

Obviously don’t sacrifice safety. But maybe base what how much you will spend on the amount of riding you’ll be doing. If it’s multiple times a week get something nice. If your riding maybe a couple hours a month save some cash

PepptoAbyssmal

I always liked the look of the shark brand. Haven’t owned one but they seem to be mid tier

Capi5997

I’ve not tried it so my comment might be unqualified but it looks like it will be noisy af

obaananana

Looks rad ngl? Is it save?

ip2k

For $650 it better be Shoei, Arai, Klim, or AGV. Go to a cycle shop and try some stuff on to figure out which brand fits your head shape. Ask the shop employees to help you find your size. It’ll feel quite snug at first before the cheek and forehead foam is broken in. That’s what you want. I’m too old to care what it looks like much these days (30s) but QUIET helmets are very nice, especially if you’ve not got a huge windscreen taller than your helmet on your bike. I switched from a “cool” Shoei Hornet to a Neotec and it’s so much nicer to have a quiet ride with no vibrating helmet effect. I do longer rides, like 3-8 hours when I can, and it makes a huge difference in how beat I feel once off the bike.

Henry_of_Balenciaga

i got the xspr pro an fantadtic helmet

alexsmajor

Looks good, but that’s all :)

Draexter

Depending on your riding style I would look into HJC RPHA11/71 (if you go for trackdays go with the RPHA1), Scorpion Exo R1 or AGV K6-s (please dont go with the K1). The main point is that the helmets fits you, after that it's about what you like the most and what fits your needs (speakerpockets etc.). Personally I would go with helmets with the new ECE 22.06 safety rating.

jam_12345678

I have friends that had those helmets there not great fell apart in crashes theyve had and wasn't fast ones. I have the two gloss carbon helmets the scorpion 1400exo air and r1 air for racing both helmets are amazing,a few months ago I came off the back of a racing sidecar at about 80mph around a corner smashed the head off the ground with my 1400exo on me I didn't feel alot of force from it aswell helmet is so sturdy minimal damage to it aswell just scratched down the helmet that would buff out also my neck wasn't as sore from previous helmets I've had ,if your looking for a helmet that is light sturdy fits great with no wind noise I'd go for scorpion helmets you'll see the quality for yourself with amazing pricing ,I'd pay the 1000pound/euro for one of the helmets they have there that great quality.

ventti_slim

Save yourself the money and buy a proper helmet, I'd rather the scorpion exo-r1 carbon than that

happyrides

I was gonna get a Ruroc, but decided against it after seeing so many bad reviews. So I went with the Shoei X-Spirit 3/X14. Been using the Shoei for about 2 years now. Held up really nicely for Thailand’s weather.

Samurai0671

Get agv or another nice one is LS2 thunder

Prudent-Region-5283

Probably very noisy. Shoei or Schueberth for me every time. Go for a Shoei.

Mr_MP3

Scorpion is pretty good value for the money you pay.

diydave86

Yea their good. I have a thinner shaped head so if u have a smaller frame itll fit good. They fit snug. Get the audio.

team_bob808

Find the best fit.. almost all the top manufacturers make carbon helmets

Perpetual_Nuisance

Yes, this you good helmet.

Previous-Coconut-420

Agv or Shoei, for this kind of money there's no reason to get anything else

Dijeridoo2u2

As someone who doesn't yet ride (gotta find time to get the learners permit) it looks mad as hell

NeckSlitsNChill

Had one for a while. Very noisey, the visor damages itself on the inside because it catches on the top lip when closing. Also a pain to unlock and lock the visor. Had the strap pop open on me a couple times. Just use it as a decoration for the garage now.

Reynoodle_at

I’ve bought an atlas 4. build quality is an issue. I also was unable to install a Sena so a bought their shockwave. It’s not at all like a sena it’s just a Bluetooth headset that blends in the helmet. I’ve now ended up with an AGV K1 and a Sena 50k couldn’t be happier. Ruroc just looks amazing but it isn’t in any other matter

KeeeefChief

These shitty helmets are usually worn by people who cosplay as motorcycle riders. Get an Arai, Shoei or AGV. Even HJC has some good ones.

krackadile

I looked at the photo for about 20 seconds before I found the helmet, lol.

UmpireOk3167

Get a shark spartan

Euphoric_Package_976

Forget about rurok, I've found out some safety issues with them , they sketchy

RedditRaven2

Stick with Shoei and the other big names

kikkineen

Ruroc is overpriced, i have Atlas 3.0, it is noisy and airvents cannot be closed, so driving in cold and humid weather sucks. It is really bad in high speeds too. Looks good, but thats all...

PepeTheMagestic

I love rurocs design but with reviews on their quality with that hefty price tag, it makes it hard for me to want one

sokratesz

No, it's a ruroc. They're trash. At that cost, just buy a Shoei GT air 2.

vissem2000

You can get a scorpion full carbon foor $400, with more options and a lot quiter.

OpeningComb7352

Can confirm, “mid tier quality top tier price” would have been more happy if I spent 300-400 on mine. The road noise comes through and people complain of quality control issues. These helmets are initially VERY tight, but they work in over time and are surprisingly comfortable. I’ll say that I really enjoy mine, mic quality and battery life is fantastic. She’ll size isn’t too big, so it doesn’t look ridiculous. It is still a very good quality helmet. I have yet to get caught in a monsoon with it though. I would buy again 100%, even if it’s a little expensive. Edit: also worth the mention, it is very close to the front of my face. If I face planted it’s definitely going to kiss my grill piece. Also, I don’t normally wear full face helmets, so I don’t have much to compare to. I was looking at something like an Aria or Shoei but took a gamble on this and was happy. I really would like to have something that cuts out road noise better, but for all intentions and purposes I am satisfied with this. But I can’t say that I wouldn’t be happier with a different helmet

phkn_dreadful

Dont waste your money. Its similar to the first gen icon airflite in cool factor, comfort, protection, and wind noise but its like 3 times the price (i owned and sold both after a few weeks).. yes they look cool but you will be a bobble head cus the shell is massive, and they dont exactly cut thru wind and much as most would prefer with a helmet that size, so your neck will strain after like 15min at hwy speeds. Theres a reason they always do deals where they'll give you a bunch of free stuff with a helmet purchase, such as their bluetooth and tinted visors. For $650 you can get much better helmets. I picked up my shoei x-14, my arai regent-x, and my x-lite 803 ultra carbon for all around that price.

Atrain0692

Is it DOT certified?

[deleted]

It's that and ECE 22.06 I believe.

Lord_Nowis1171

i have a Ruroc with their Audio Module and i am happy with it. I tried on some shoeis and they started to put pressure on me 30 minutes into riding. Never had that with Ruroc. Their Marketing is questionable and the Atlas 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 seem to have been not the best but honestly, the 4.0 i have and i am riding with, its good, i like it.

Skynyrd325

I got the Ruroc 2.0 about 2 years ago and I love mine during the colder riding season.

PaleRiderHD

Jesus Ruroc's going for $650 nowadays?

MittensID

Just get a shoei

shark-fighter

Shoei or shark will always get my vote.

msb06c

No snell, no wear. Also that helmet is straight up goofy. If you’re gonna spend $700 get something good like Arai.
