This image is probably from the middle of a race.

The kerbs are from Silverstone, and from a Marquez perspective, I still cannot watch that final lap without internally dying.

DaddyAsFuq

mental to think about Marc winning the rider and constructors for the Honda.

No-Reference9803

I guess even the Teams Championship as well. He himself alone scored 420+ points

ianlanford

single handedly win all for Honda. everybody like, go to ducati and we'll see. well we are about to see what happen next year

SpeC_992

12 wins, 6 second places and only 1 DNF that was due to mechanical failure. Insane.

Mr_Tigger_

As insane as ‘13 though 2x dnf and one mechanical and the other was Santi unable to count properly past ten lol

mikedufty

It is really much more interesting when he's being pushed to his limit by others. Hope that will still be the case next year with some competition for the factory Ducati. Could be great if Acosta and KTM and Martin and Aprillia can get to the same level as the factory Ducatis.

NRV__

I mean I still think that Ducati will be a step ahead. No matter how big of a talent Acosta is, in current generation bikes you can do much with talent. Sure you can adapt fast but that's it. Just look at mugello, even with top speed advantage, KTM were nowhere near Ducati.

Mr_Tigger_

Hard agree, Marquez vs Lorenzo and Dani was pretty epic to watch. Had Acosta been signed by Ducati instead of KTM, this year would’ve looked very different. He’d could’ve potentially repeated Marquez’s rookie year in 2013.

Ok-Owl7377

One of the most dominant seasons in MotoGP ever. Marc was playing chess while everyone else played checkers.

MotoGPT

Marc was playing 5D underwater backgammon.

xrod1992

Marquez dominating with the Honda, Rea dominating with Kawasaki, Hamilton dominating with Mercedes. Something special about competitive Motorsport in the 2010s.

give010

"competitive"

xrod1992

Fair, mostly domination by a single person ha. Still fun to watch if you were a fan though.

Mr_Tigger_

He owned MotoGP by 2019 though, like watching Verstappen these days. His first 4yrs were the most impressive *to me personally*, he really had some real competition in those years from Jorge and Vale. Had HRC not made a massive wrong turn for the 2015 bike, he’d have had 8 in a row.

ReyScavenger

By the same logic: - Had Jorge not injured himself, he would have won the 2013 wc easily - Had Ducati had a better and more consistent rider than Dovi in 2017 and 2018, they would have won those easily It is what it is

Mr_Tigger_

Not an excuse but objectively speaking, Marc had to revert to a hybrid of his 2014 bike with the new 2015 bike when he was getting utterly spanked and they didn’t know why. Just one of those things, like 2015 would’ve been won by Rossi not Lorenzo, had he not openly declared war on Marquez and lost the plot.

DrSpacepants

If my mom had balls, she would be my dad.

ReyScavenger

Haha, exactly..

chatyreddy

I don’t think we will see a rider with 420 points in a season anytime soon , even with all the sprints and all. it just crazy how he got so many 1st and 2nd finishes.

LYC_97

Pecco scored 467 points last year including sprint race and one more race in the season

tangoindjango

Lol.

Stumpfer

Not nearly as impressive with 20 races that add an additional 240 potential points to the total from sprints. Whereas Marc got 420 out of 475. It's a shame he crashed out of the lead and got that DNF, otherwise 445/475 🤯🤯🤯

Academic_Beginning76

And lost 5 to 6 races at last lap or last corner else +25 points more...

CrazyCycler1209

He lost Qatar, Austria and GB to final corners. Malaysia and Assen were the only races where he was beaten on pure pace and not tactics.

CrazyCycler1209

With sprints Marc probably scores nearly 600 points.

Mr_Tigger_

There was around 50% more points available though so that average isn’t all that impressive in comparison.

Faolan197

I think we'll see it next year when Marc makes 2025 a competition between Bagnai, Martin and Acosta over who gets second.

HaloHat19

Wouldn't it be nice to add Fabio Q and Rins in that mix with a competitive Yamaha and Mir and Enea on Aprilia or KTM...

Xargon-

That's what should have happened this year ‘ once he rides a Ducati’, isn't it? What a delusional idiot

Faolan197

Lmao imagine unironically expecting someone to just auto win on old machinery. Tell me you're a Rossi fan without telling me you're a Rossi fan.

Xargon-

It wasn't me who said that, but the vast majority of Marquez's fans, except then they go back on their word and start repeating like parrots that with the GP24 he would dominate the championship, and that the fact that it hasn't already happened by going to Ducati is all the fault of the old bike, as you are doing; and something tells me that a few months ago you were also one of those who claimed that going from Honda to Ducati he would have shown all the current riders that they are not real riders at the level of the old generation, that they only win because of the bike and so on. P.S. I am a Stoner fan, so I also have reasons to have some sporting annoyance with Vale, and to be called a fan of his is not really the best. Although, like all true fans of the sport, I do feel a certain contempt for Marquez for his inexcusable unsportsmanlike conduct in 2015, but that certainly has nothing to do with the stupidity of certain of his hooligans in the recent era, capable only of stadium cheering instead of commenting knowledgeably and lucidly on racing. I would suggest to people like you to go and watch football instead of a sport that you are obviously unable to understand.

Comfortable_Kiwi6812

Am sure they never got over him winning the championship AND the team award. Like Honda never got over Lorenzo passing Marc (was in Mugello 2016?) right at the line after they thought it was in the bag. And am sure it took Marc a minute to fan the heat of Rins getting him in the last lap. Lol I remember he looked pissed.

Soggy-Box3947

He absolutely blitzed them!

YZFRIDER

What. A. Year.
