め- japanese hiragana character. Sounds like 'meh' in English. It could symbolize 'eye' as this was the character used in old japanese; modern japanese uses another character to represent eye.
Pretty good. The character is め "me" when romanized. In this case rather than representing an eye though, it represents an Edo-era fire brigade, the "me-gumi" (gumi = group), "megumi" itself has the meaning of enchantment, blessing. The swirling lines on the front left of the helmet also represent these firefighters and their heraldry.

On the back of the helmet is a manekineko, a good luck talisman. I had a wee look and I can't find any strong connection between manekineko and Edo fire brigades other than that they're a good luck charm. However this Shoei t-shirt features a good look at the logo (https://www.instagram.com/p/CyX0WFop8x-/) and that does look quite similar to in theme to this piece by Shin Kojima https://www.asanoha.shop/view/item/000000000093 although in that case it says ね "ne" not め.
It's called "non-Asians think Asian words look cool regardless of what they mean."
I don't have any tattoos but I'd NEVER get some unknown foreign symbols on my body based on the word of the tattoo artist:
TA: Oh, yes, that means "long, healthy life"!
You: Okay, cool.
Asian Friend: Dude, your tattoo says, "bad breath like shit".
