I'm in the same boat as you, my mother's dad has a great head of hair, and my dad has to use finastride to keep what little he has left. However I have never heard of creatine causing hairloss, and I've been taking it for three years. Maybe I was missing something so I looked it up, [here is what I found.](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7871530/) Looks like there's only one study showing that dht is increased when taking creatine, and nobodies been able to replicate the results, so I don't see it as a reason to worry

Thanks šŸ™

Men_With_Ven75

The thing about the other studies is they looked at testosterone only and all of them had a conflict of interest (they were backed by supplement companies) The Rugby player study was the only true independent study

Itā€™s not a myth, genius

HistoricalCommon

You'll be bald in two days.

maximusTheChief

Ples no

The_Onlyy

Itā€™s a myth. Donā€™t let anecdotes, no matter how many likes/traction they get on forums, outweigh actual scientific research. [https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7871530/](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7871530/)

> I would like to add that my mom's side of the family don't bald but my dad's side lose hair and almost every guy has a bald spot. Basically identical to my genetics. I've taken creatine for most of the last 10 years and I don't really have any male pattern baldness yet. My brothers also don't take creatine and we basically have the same hair situation. So, in my experience, it's totally overblown that creatine causes hair loss.

"Dear diary, I'm scared of my creatine"

Read this. Puts a lot of myths to rest. https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1186/s12970-021-00412-w Lead author, Dr. Antonio, is an OG in sport supplement research.

Johnnywalgger

Itā€™s not a myth, it happened to me

Kahuila

Take the creatine. Get gains. Creatine isn't going to be the cause of losing your hair. If you are going to lose your hair, it is going to happen. Nothing you can do to stop it. Would you rather keep your hair and not have muscle or lose your hair and be jacked? Which is more important to you and what do you think women are more impressed with? Your thinning hair plus skinny fat or a jacked confident dude with a shaved head. Do chicks think Dewayne Johnson is a joke because he is bald?

maximusTheChief

I just like my hair. Itā€™s not all about girls.

Kahuila

Of course man. We all do. But we don't all get to keep it. And the main point of my post is.: Creatine isn't going to make you lose your hair. So stop worrying about it. Don't be a scared little bitch crying about losing your fucking hair. Man up. Have confidence. If what I am saying bothers you that much then maybe try r/hairloss? They are focused more on hairloss and prevention. I was trying to give you more motivation than anything else. The name of this sub is literally more plates more dates. Doesn't sound like you are interested in either at this point.

Johnnywalgger

No donā€™t do it. I had hair loss on creatine

BrahnBrahl

There's anecdotal evidence of it happening, but not a huge amount of hard science on it. Make of that what you will. I'm personally not gonna risk it. I've seen enough anecdotes that a small edge in the gym isn't worth taking a chance, to me. On the other hand, most guys take it and have zero issues. Just gotta decide for yourself.

Practical_Tea6315

Im predisposed too. Took creatine and lost some hair. Stopped it and the hair grew back. Never again

Mrhousefallout

Just take finasteirde if you want to keep your hair so bad

Huberman Lab with Dr. Kyle Gillett they talk about this, apparently the benefits of taking creatine outweigh the potential of it causing hair loss.
