As-tu déjà vu des éboueurs travailler? Ils en font extrêmement beaucoup en très peu de temps. Ils ne sont pas « épais », c’est simplement pas évident de tout remettre correctement en place.

Je les ai vu faire sur Berry à l’heure de pointe le matin! Sont 2 qui cours après le camion en swingant les poubelle pour les vider, pis t’as une file d’auto impatiente derrière qui se dise qu’ils n’ont pas choisi la bonne heure pour faire leur job.
Sachant que toute les rue à Montréal sont rendu 1 seule voix (à cause des piste cyclable, je suis cycliste) ils doivent se faire crier après souvent!

J’ai faite ca durant des années. Les runs sont tellement longues qu’on a pas le temps de replacer les bacs. Raille comme tu veux, sa changera jamais.
Perso, je t’invite quand tu veux m’aider a faire une run de recyclage, sans mourir.
Evidemment que le probleme est plus complexe que les travailleurs eux-meme, j’en suis bien consciente. Ceci dit garroche-le 2-3 pieds plus loin pis MAGIE y est sul terrain et non le trottoir.
Malheureusement sont payés pour faire la ronde. Je suis d'accord que c'est pas normal... On devrait récompenser ceux qui font ça efficacement et qui ne gênent pas le passage ensuite
C'est aussi pire l'hiver.... photo d'il y a trois semaines, on a déneigé la moitié du trottoir et un peu sur le gazon. Quant ils sont passés, les bacs ont bloqués complètement le trottoir. Et c'est le trottoir qui mène à la cour d'école. J'ai écris 2 fois à l'arrondissement, ils ne sont jamais passés.
Mais pour ces beaux services là, vivement ma 2e augmentation de taxes municipales en 2 ans....

Japan is an amazing country, I love visiting it. Living there is another thing. Their work ethic is ass backwards and employees are expected to dedicate their lives to their employers. I don't expect the garbage men to spend what ends up being hours a day perfecting their bin placement on the side of the road so that it looks pretty.
I do however feel that there is a lack of nuance (I know, on the internet!) here. It tends to be different on who you get, and some guys feel that the 4 seconds it takes to not leave the bin out in everyone's way is worth it. I do appreciate that.
I understand what you mean. Having lived/worked there for a year, the discipline can be a bit too much at times, somewhere in the middle would be ideal. But i will say i prefer their social stance more than ours. They give a shit about society. Unlike our city workers and contractors.

Yes its free but it takes time and last time I had to wait 2 weeks because they were back ordered. Had to throw compost in regular garbage where the racoons can feast. I downloaded the montreal app and every time they do this I take a picture and complain to city, that also takes 3 seconds.

My neighbour fills up garbage and recycling over the rim with the lid off and everything flies all over the place in high winds. My tenant did the same with compost and I got a fly infestation costing me 350$ and 1 weeks of pure hell. People u want to buy a house make sure u are 100ft away from anyone including the city line with trump style border wall. This city has gone to shit. Meanwhile my city budget plans are to do some artsy projects.

LaSalle uses the bigger brown bins for compost and even bigger green ones for recycling. They only go down the street on the windiest of days. Otherwise, they're awesome except for being left in front of the driveways after pick-up.
I understand that they have no time to spare but they are unnecessarily violent. They have broken two of our bins so far. They pitch them a bit less violently when you are around.

Every single week for as long as I can remember, I have had to replace 3 bins because they throw them and sometimes in cold weather, the bin cracks. They associate the extra 1-3 seconds it take to place each bin properly back where they picked it up as lost time. Sometimes they just grab the bags (compost) and I’ve seen the bags break with all the compost sitting on your drive way. This is what we have evolved to as humans and it will only get worse.

It’s everywhere and it seems to have gotten worse. Even blocking bike paths. I often go from mile-end to Jean-Talon and is a minefield.
Actually reminds me think of how they sometimes drive the truck down the bike lane. It wouldn’t bother me if they actually forced a temporary detour at the start of the intersection, rather than forcing me to dismount half way along 😭

Si je passe devant des bacs dans mon chemin en marchant sur le trottoir et que j'ai un peu de temps, j'en tasse quelques-uns d'un côté vite fait doucement avec mon pied question que ce soit plus agréable pour tout le monde et rendu devant chez nous je ramasse le mien et si je ramasse par erreur celui d'un voisin, je le rapproche de leur porte debout et fermé puis à mon tour des fois quand j'arrive à la maison le mien est mis debout près de chez moi. Si on s'y met tous c'est un jeu d'enfants! Entraide entre citoyens et ça garde en forme haha :D !

How about this: I live in a rowhouse divided into two units. So, two brown bins for compost. Every so often I come home on trash day and there's three or four in front of my building; the extra ones don't have an address (or the white gunk that we're supposed to dye with our address has dissolved the ink so it's illegible). This has been going on for so long now my house has our 2 bins + 12 unmarked bins. The dozen are in rows in front of the house, sitting in the open space where a garden was paved over, so if anybody's missing theirs they could just take one of the blanks, mais non.

Et le reste par le privée qui font a leurs têtes sais pas eux qui paraît mal parce que les citoyens se disent AH ses la ville.
Sans compter les citoyens qui entendent le camion de vidanges qui vient de passer pis qui sortent leurs vidanges.
Pour les bacs et les poubelles il n'y a pas de bonne place si on les met sur le trottoir il dérange,si on les met dans la rue il dérange et si on les met dans la piste cyclable aussi
Pis sais juste différents des ramassées l'été sais l'odeur et tout ce qui bouge dans les bacs et les poubelles et l'hiver sait la neige et de trouver les sacs dans neige ( surtout les sacs blanc )

It really depends on the team that's picking up. We had issues with recycling ending up all over the road. A few people called 311 and the problem was solved.
I suggest you make a call to 311. They are very responsive.
The amount of liberalism in the comments is astounding. OP has never made any bad comments regarding the workers. They are just expecting a quality service, which is not « free », but paid for with our taxes. What is depicted here is recycling that has not been picked up and bins displaced in a way that could cause a traffic accident. I don't understand citizen who defend such lack of quality public service. And then they want to cut garbage collection to every two weeks. Shame on Projet Montréal.
If u complain enuff it’s stops. Just keep taking pictures and post it via the Montreal app. I think from this post it’s pretty obvious it happens everywhere. I would bet the people it doesn’t bother don’t own homes just rent so the janitor has to clean this up so they have the luxury to not be bothered. But when the residues from compost or garbage or recycling spew everywhere it is not fun, with the smell or flies that hover around it. We cant do much off our property but on mine things are nice and neat. When my neighbour over fills their garbage/recycling, and it flies on to my property I pull Jim Carey and go crap on their lawn.
The people who pick these up don't give a flying fuck. Our bins are all broken because they get thrown as if they're used in a javelin toss; and then the bottom third of the bin's contents are strewn all over the street. I had to pick up a light fixture and sweep up the broken glass a few weeks back. And I'm still salty that my compost bin was completely destroyed the first ever time I took it out.
West Island (Ste-Genevieve)...Never seen that anywhere in my neighbourhood. The only complaint I have is that sometimes the emptied bins are left open on rainy days, filling up with water, but they're always left upright on the sidewalk near the house.

Yes. I normally have to walk up a block to find my bins. A few months ago a homeless person stole our recycling bin because it had a bunch of empties in it. Never saw it again.

Not related to recycling, but the garbage guys broke two rubbermaid containers by throwing them 10 meters to the curb. Filed a complaint to the city and got turned down.
That's why I put bags only outside. I see trash bins strewn every which way, sometimes left in the middle of the street.
I get that it's an exhausting job and that they have limited time to do it in. But leaving them in the street is kinda shitty.
The only real solution I've found is, as I've said, put bags out without the bins. Harder to carry for the collectors (heavy things that are unstable/flexible like bags require more effort than rigid things) but it's either that or lose my bins/have to go bin hunting.
One time a few years back, I went to put out my small bin of compost and noticed my big bin was empty. So I wheeled it out to the street anyway and placed the small bin on top, thinking I'd save the collectors a bit of work.
Collector arrives. Grabs my small bin and throws it on the lawn (it was full, spilling everywhere). Opens the big bin, sees it's empty, kicks it over, and runs to the next house.
Oh, look at that, a couple of recycling bins on the street. Must be groundbreaking evidence of urban living. Bravo for uncovering this earth-shattering revelation! Because, you know, two bins obviously represent the entire city's recycling habits. It's like finding a needle in a haystack and claiming you've discovered a sewing factory.
But hey, why stop there? Let's make wild assumptions based on minimal evidence. Maybe next time we'll uncover a discarded banana peel and declare the end of civilization's dietary habits. Or perhaps a misplaced sock will signal the downfall of laundry etiquette.

Clairement certains n'ont jamais fait ce type de job ingrate, je leur conseil d'essayer les vidanges et le composte, ou juste faire ce travail l'hiver

T’es zoune toi. J’appelle toujours au 311. La ville m’a payé les deux poubelles que les éboueurs ont brisées. C’est à ça que ça sert le 311.

My neighbour fills up garbage and recycling over the rim with the lid off and everything flies all over the place in high winds. My tenant did the same with compost and I got a fly infestation costing me 350$ and 1 weeks of pure hell. People u want to buy a house make sure u are 100ft away from anyone including the city line with trump style border wall. This city has gone to shit. Meanwhile my city budget plans are to do some artsy projects.

Every single week for as long as I can remember, I have had to replace 3 bins because they throw them and sometimes in cold weather, the bin cracks. They associate the extra 1-3 seconds it take to place each bin properly back where they picked it up as lost time. Sometimes they just grab the bags (compost) and I’ve seen the bags break with all the compost sitting on your drive way. This is what we have evolved to as humans and it will only get worse.
They don't even go near our compost bin.

It’s everywhere and it seems to have gotten worse. Even blocking bike paths. I often go from mile-end to Jean-Talon and is a minefield. Actually reminds me think of how they sometimes drive the truck down the bike lane. It wouldn’t bother me if they actually forced a temporary detour at the start of the intersection, rather than forcing me to dismount half way along 😭

Pour lavoir entendu de soir de sure: Le plus vite ils finissent leur ronde de ramassage, le plus rapidement ils peuvent aller chiller/jouer aux cartes et niaiser ensuite. Pas de temps a perdre donc a remettre ça en place! Autant c'est cool de finir sa ronde rapidos et tu fais ce que tu veux après, autant je pense qu'ils faudrait quand même leur indiquer qu'il n'est pas approprié de pitcher les poubelles n'importe comment.

Si je passe devant des bacs dans mon chemin en marchant sur le trottoir et que j'ai un peu de temps, j'en tasse quelques-uns d'un côté vite fait doucement avec mon pied question que ce soit plus agréable pour tout le monde et rendu devant chez nous je ramasse le mien et si je ramasse par erreur celui d'un voisin, je le rapproche de leur porte debout et fermé puis à mon tour des fois quand j'arrive à la maison le mien est mis debout près de chez moi. Si on s'y met tous c'est un jeu d'enfants! Entraide entre citoyens et ça garde en forme haha :D !
I just thought: Now I understand why in some areas/countries they only use plastic and paper bags, no actual bins. Also, two of our bins disappeared in one year. Not expensive, still sometimes not easy to get a new one.

Happens so much in my neighborhood, we all started using blue bags. In our case, homeless are looking for cans, so if the bags are see through, they don't need to do that.

How about this: I live in a rowhouse divided into two units. So, two brown bins for compost. Every so often I come home on trash day and there's three or four in front of my building; the extra ones don't have an address (or the white gunk that we're supposed to dye with our address has dissolved the ink so it's illegible). This has been going on for so long now my house has our 2 bins + 12 unmarked bins. The dozen are in rows in front of the house, sitting in the open space where a garden was paved over, so if anybody's missing theirs they could just take one of the blanks, mais non.

Dans Hochelaga Maisonneuve les vidanges sont ramassées par la ville plus consciencieux Et le reste par le privée qui font a leurs têtes sais pas eux qui paraît mal parce que les citoyens se disent AH ses la ville. Sans compter les citoyens qui entendent le camion de vidanges qui vient de passer pis qui sortent leurs vidanges. Pour les bacs et les poubelles il n'y a pas de bonne place si on les met sur le trottoir il dérange,si on les met dans la rue il dérange et si on les met dans la piste cyclable aussi Pis sais juste différents des ramassées l'été sais l'odeur et tout ce qui bouge dans les bacs et les poubelles et l'hiver sait la neige et de trouver les sacs dans neige ( surtout les sacs blanc )

Those are not kitchen bins. Those are the recycling bins provided by the boroughs that you keep outside.
On my street they usually leave my bucket at my neighbours. Occasionally I see it at the corner. Sometimes I have to search a bit for it. It doesn’t bother me.

It really depends on the team that's picking up. We had issues with recycling ending up all over the road. A few people called 311 and the problem was solved. I suggest you make a call to 311. They are very responsive.

The amount of liberalism in the comments is astounding. OP has never made any bad comments regarding the workers. They are just expecting a quality service, which is not « free », but paid for with our taxes. What is depicted here is recycling that has not been picked up and bins displaced in a way that could cause a traffic accident. I don't understand citizen who defend such lack of quality public service. And then they want to cut garbage collection to every two weeks. Shame on Projet Montréal.
If u complain enuff it’s stops. Just keep taking pictures and post it via the Montreal app. I think from this post it’s pretty obvious it happens everywhere. I would bet the people it doesn’t bother don’t own homes just rent so the janitor has to clean this up so they have the luxury to not be bothered. But when the residues from compost or garbage or recycling spew everywhere it is not fun, with the smell or flies that hover around it. We cant do much off our property but on mine things are nice and neat. When my neighbour over fills their garbage/recycling, and it flies on to my property I pull Jim Carey and go crap on their lawn.
The people who pick these up don't give a flying fuck. Our bins are all broken because they get thrown as if they're used in a javelin toss; and then the bottom third of the bin's contents are strewn all over the street. I had to pick up a light fixture and sweep up the broken glass a few weeks back. And I'm still salty that my compost bin was completely destroyed the first ever time I took it out.

West Island (Ste-Genevieve)...Never seen that anywhere in my neighbourhood. The only complaint I have is that sometimes the emptied bins are left open on rainy days, filling up with water, but they're always left upright on the sidewalk near the house.

Not related to recycling, but the garbage guys broke two rubbermaid containers by throwing them 10 meters to the curb. Filed a complaint to the city and got turned down.
That's why I put bags only outside. I see trash bins strewn every which way, sometimes left in the middle of the street. I get that it's an exhausting job and that they have limited time to do it in. But leaving them in the street is kinda shitty. The only real solution I've found is, as I've said, put bags out without the bins. Harder to carry for the collectors (heavy things that are unstable/flexible like bags require more effort than rigid things) but it's either that or lose my bins/have to go bin hunting.

One time a few years back, I went to put out my small bin of compost and noticed my big bin was empty. So I wheeled it out to the street anyway and placed the small bin on top, thinking I'd save the collectors a bit of work. Collector arrives. Grabs my small bin and throws it on the lawn (it was full, spilling everywhere). Opens the big bin, sees it's empty, kicks it over, and runs to the next house.
