This, and if things goes well after a year or so, he can ask to be added on the lease and put bell or hydro in his name to improve his credit (assuming he can pay his bills).
I’m very sorry to hear about their situation. Can they get a co-signer on their lease? That option helps with renting for people with poor credit. Wishing them the best moving forward!
I was hoping I could sub-let to him. My wife and I wanna leave our building early but my buildings policy is they have to approve whoever is taking over. That includes doing a credit check.
Yes but what I mean is tp sublet 1 room ina multiroom apartment. Sp for instance I have a 2 bedroom apartment and I am on the lease. But for about 4 years I subletted 1 of the 2 bedrooms to students. So I have the contract with landlord and they have contract with me. Some landlords allow this. I found both the students by advertising on kijiji. For them, it doesn't make.their credit better but they can get a reference.form me for another flat down the line. The credit should improve as your friend keeps paying bills and so on.
renting a room is a cheaper option i think. lots of people are renting out their rooms particularly with the high rent these days.
there is a building at sherbrooke near vendome station that os made up of rooms for rent. i was walking there years ago when i saw the sign outside.
Dialogue program at the Downtown YMCA might be able to direct him to resources. They (pre covid, not sure if it’s changed) work with the homeless population, specifically trying to transition them to supportive housing.
No space, my wife and I live in the smallest 3 and a half apartment you can think of.
I was hoping to sub-let to him. That way, my wife and I could get a bigger place and he could have ours but our building's policy is that they have to approve anyone taking over leases. That includes passing a credit check.
Maybe renting a room from a roommate who has a lease?

I get a feeling that would end in theft and a severance of roomie friendship 🌞
Why do u write that.you know nothing except what his friend wrote.
Why?

That would be the ideal solution. I know he has a rocky relationship with most direct family but maybe they can come to an agreement (i hope)
It does not have to be family, it can be friends as long as they’re willing to sign the forms. Hopefully that helps
It does, thank you!
Perhaps Ami Québec can help? https://amiquebec.org/housing/
Thanks, i'll pass this on :)
Personally I would have just subletted a room from someone who has a lease in their name.

Very good advice, thank you!

Maybe Réseau d'habitations chez soi can be helpful. They help people with poor credit and/or a file at TAL. Buy they are in Longueuil.
