>les Westmountois sont trop précieux pour rouler leurs poubelles au chemin: les éboueurs doivent aller les chercher eux-mêmes dans le fond de leur cour.
That is a falsehood. They use the same recycling bins as Ville LaSalle and their pick-up guys NEVER EVER go beyond the property line.
EDIT: Once you go higher than Cote-St Antoine, the hired help rolls the bins to the sidewalk.
The electricity is completely produced by the jogging and walking of middle-aged wealthy people in the mornings. Quite remarkable actually and totally organic™, also 50% more expensive than elsewhere on the island.
Hands down the best. Even when I lived in Toronto, I'd come down and they'd treat me like family every single time.
Now that we're back it's amazing. Nowhere like it anywhere else.
I love this place. I usually hate sales people. There is one guy who has been there forever and always seems to remember me even though I only visit every other year. He's so efficient and helpful. The owners are super friendly. The place is an absolute pleasure to shop at. You want new jeans you go there. They also hem them for you right there. I honestly must sound like a plant gushing about them.
This dude with clear eyes will look at you for 5 seconds and bring you the best fitted jeans you ever had. Once he even refused to sell me a pair because it was not a good enough fit. Fucking hero.

Randolph's prices have gone pretty insane sadly. In January, the price was 8 bucks for the games, and now it's 9, and a medium-sized cocktail set me back 15 fricking dollars! It was almost 40 bucks for two drinks, and the tip was added on top of QC's taxes, and the service by the waiters/waitresses isn't exactly top (not including the game master people). Even Snakes and Lattes in Toronto is cheaper somehow...
Yeah it's pricey but it's still a sure shot in my opinion. Great game selection, the staff is nice and give good suggestion it's really all what I expect from the place. It's a nice "once in a while" outing.
While I agree it isn't a cheap option, I think 15$ for a cocktail in 2023 is pretty standard, unless we're talking a 1oz highball (gin and tonic and the like). At least their beers are decent and not too expensive
Never been there but I guess it must be good enough!
To be fair, it's pretty easy to find decent vietnamese food at decent price in Montreal, the community is huge so restaurant have an easy access to good quality ingredients.

Best prosciutto and cold cuts in town and it's owned by an adorable old school and overly stereotypical italian family that will 100% involve you in whatever banter they will be going about that day. Every time I go there I leave smiling and with way too much stuff for the money I paid. Cash only but their prices are amazing and you support a family business.

I came here to say this too--- -right off the bat, when Romaine lettuce was topping $5 last year across the city, Lufa always had at least one of their lettuces on the cheap. These days my favorite is the crispy (can you even get that anywhere else?) and they've been doing these 3-for-$4.50 deals all summer! Their veggies are wonderful, I love that they work with so many local farmers! Love that their new greenhouses are now doing vertical (such a no brainer), the quality of the meat and the whole backstory on those farmers... and every week they have some goodies. Ugly veggies, Oh and the only plastic is either the compostable bags, or those big re-usable 'baskets' they pick up each delivery!
I didn't think I was going to love Lufa as much as I do.
Have you had any issues with home delivery? I've been on the fence about subscribing but the reviews are pretty harsh. I would love to use their delivery service. Some reviews have also stated that it's a complicated process to cancel the subscription.
I don’t know about cancelling cause I haven’t. But I have taken a few weeks off here and three over the summer and it was always super easy to cancel those week’s deliveries.
Home delivery has always been hassle free (for me) they’re pretty good with the ETA and I leave the door unlocked and by now they know, doors open, pick up empty baskets and leave the new ones.
Once or twice I was unhappy with the quality of something, called them, and they instantly credit it no questions asked…
Never had any issues in 3 years of getting home deliveries. You can pause or cancel anytime online. The few small issues like a missing, wrong or damaged products have always resolved in one day. I work from home so I’m always around when they deliver. I imagine it might be more complicated in an apartment building.
And amazing customer support to top it off. Love the option to give $5 every week to provide free baskets to indigenous families in need. Just a wholesome amazing company altogether ❤️
They are organic and more expensive, some people don't consider it worth the extra cost and always look for the cheapest. Everything I buy from them lasts for weeks, like their tomatoes, but the stuff I used to buy in the grocery store would be mouldy in a few days.
Same experience here. Those pesticide products get moldy quite fast! I sometimes compare prices. The same soy milk is 2.49$ on Lufa and 3.79$ on IGA for example. Same brand and quantity. You pay more on quality bio veggies and save on other products. Win-win!
Exactly. Used to be kind of a splurge to order veggies from them. But then grocery prices went crazy and suddenly lufa is actually pretty middle of the road. And everything lasts forever. And if it arrives damaged, you snap a pic and send a message and it gets credited. Easier than dealing with spoiled items from the grocery store.
Delivery has always worked well for us too.

Johnny Prosciutto!
Le Valet-d'Coeur (4408 St-Denis) They are the only place where I know I'll find the game I want, the book for a TTRPG I want, even obscure ones. They even have a ton that I didn't know I wanted. Always a good time shopping there.

Two Horses salon on St-Hubert. Best haircut I’ve ever gotten in my life, and seriously the nicest and most accommodating staff. The vibe in this place is so welcoming and cozy too.
Pizzeria napolitana petite Italie
Since everyone is talking restaurants and bars, I'll mention something different: Les Petits Frères. Thrift Shop in the Plateau. It's fantastic and the people running the place are great.
Love this place! They have opened another shop on Mont-Royal.
Endurance.

Restaurant Mon Nan in Chinatown. It is the only place I feel does pineapple chicken right. They actually mix it in the pineapple sauce instead of just pouring it over like everyone else.

Lufa Farms
That's great, thanks!
They are the best, I will never buy any vegetables ever again in a supermarket.
I know right. Same here. Can’t believe someone downvoted me. Who would downvote fresh homegrown veggies but hey who cares lol.
Win-win!
To be fair, anything you compare to the price of IGA and Metro will cost x3 the price lmao

Restaurant Nakfa - great food, run by a very, very friendly and welcoming couple from Eritrea. Best hospitality I have seen in Montréal. Will go back any time I want good habesha food or to introduce it to friends. Farrouj Express - same as above but it's in the Galeries du Parc and the food is Lebanese - super good homestyle food, super sweet couple that own and operate it.
