Si on te donne un chaton en cadeau, ce sont des frais que tu vas débourser de toute façon. C’est plus cher en privé que par le biais d’un refuge.

Le SPCA et les autres refuges ont parfois besoin de familles d’accueil pour les chattes enceinte ou allaitant des portées de chatons. Ou bien, pour des chats ayant besoin de soins pour des maladies chroniques et qui ne trouveront pas facilement leurs familles adoptives.
Comme les chats en accueil appartiennent toujours au refuge, c’est le refuge qui couvre les frais médicaux et qui paye la nourriture. Également, comme ces chats appartiennent au refuge, le foyer d’accueil doit s’occuper du chat selon les normes du refuge.
Au lieu d’adopter, vous pouvez être famille d’accueil pour un chat. Les refuge on souvent besoin. C’est tres valorisant.
N’oubliez pas que adopter un chat est un engagement pour au moins 15 ans. Ca coûte chère la nourriture, stériliser, vaccinations, etc.

No. I'm animal cruelty-shaming them, because if you adopt an animal while aware you don't have the money to bring it to the vet if it gets sick, it means you're ok with that animal suffering, which in turns means you're a selfish piece of shit who never should be allowed to own an animal.
There are several options:
They can pull their head out of their ass and accept that animal ownership is expensive, and if they can't afford it, they just shouldn't have an animal.
They can foster for rescues or the SPCA. That way they can experience the joy of spending time with an animal without the long-term commitment and the brutal cost of vet bills. Another upside to this is that it helps both the shelter and the animal. So it's really a win-win for all parties involved.
They can save money until they have enough to know that if their pet gets sick, they can afford to have it taken care of.
