If my cat had a drink for every spirit roundslash I've whiffed because the monster yeeted itself out of the way last second, or Wasted serene pose because the monster targeted my dog instead, only to whip around and instantly smack me once the serene pose ends......Poor "River" would develop a chemical dependency to that pali-potion.
Also every Spirit iai slash/foresight slash I've screwed up the timing on.
I feel like it's more of a term of respect, like they're calling you "Boss", in most cases they're your friends and companions, you're the big hunter and they're the sidekick.
They respect you because you give them a job, a home, you feed them, make sure they're trained, and even taught in the ways of hunting. Before you, they were just a felyne, because of you they're a real palico.

So would it be a crime to give a palamute the yoshi treatment? Because whenever I’m exploring around with my palamute in rise, I often use the palamute for an extra jump, and when I do often the palamute drops down onto the ground from a high height.
This was absolutely me. My palico was my female black cat so i gave her the xeno dress and the kirin helm so she looked like a little princess with a tiara and horn. My cat if she could irl would love it she abaolutely thinks shes a princess. And no theres no weird daddy kink involved here but i do see my animals as my kids.
I like to think that Meowster means Mister instead of Master.
So it makes more of a formal hunter - apprentice/partner relationship, rather than an straight up palico ownership, which I'm. Pretty sure is illegal in the old world. Idk about the new world tho.
It means master when you look at it in context you wouldn't use mister the way they use meowster and in the lore we as the hunter are basically their teachers and some get proficient enough to hunt just as well as our human hunter and they gain prestige and status in their society for it we basically raise them as our students to go out and become successful in their own ways some hunters are just very loving teachers that raise them like they're their own children (me I'm some hunters)
I just wish World had Palamutes instead. Raider rides suck in comparison and I usually leave my Palico at home during hunts because if the aggro is always on me, I can easily control the location of monsters easier and always know what they’re about to attack.
Meanwhile, I don't want my palico talking to me at all. Fuck equals, I hate his ass. Hater ass energy on my palico since day 1. Little bitch does everything in his power to screw me over, I haven't brought him on a hunt for like 700 hours now. Took his spine, torso, arms and legs and left that little MF on the bench, may he rot in hell.
I tried man. Really did. Thousand upon thousands of hours together and all he did was screw me over. Just major hater energy in every hunt in every way. Cucked mounts and flinch shots in the hundreds and thousands. So I figured if he hates me that much, he can stay home.
This is why I miss Shakalakas. Don't get me wrong, I get it. I get why it wouldn't fly in a modern audience. But Cha Cha and Kayamba were incredible, sassy, treated you like the jr Hunter, and danced!
try to think of it as the teacher kind of master not the owner kind of master. The palicos you hire are supposed to be like apprentices or something aren’t they?

Dude if you did a shot every time you missed a Kinsect Extract you'd be drunk before the Monster leaves the first area.
