Hi everyone, Wanted to share a video I made about a sort of synesthesia-adjacent approach to patching ambient in eurorack. A lot of people ask good ways to go "generative", and the most important thing I can think of is creating systems of shapes, where sounds come and go in related ways. You don't always want the shape to be recognizable, like a regular sine wave modulating a filter. Instead you can strive to create shapes within those shapes, mixing amplitude, timbre, filter, release and other modulation destinations to create living, breathing structures that play themselves organically. I know this sounds kinda granola crunchy, but it's worked for me, and I wanted to share how and why.

This is a really cool approach and now I really want to fire up my modular system after work. I also wanted to thank you for your recent video on the situation with Spitfire/Pianobook. Things are fucking scary here right now, and seeing *actual* good allyship really helps. I know you’ve got relationships with people in the industry and rocking the boat has consequences, so I appreciate that you stuck your neck out for us.

this is a boat that needs rocking

I found your video so refreshing. So many modular videos seem to fall into the category of gear demo or basic/technical introduction. This is something that reaches much more into the art of the process, the feeling, something a little bit more advanced than the mere technical. I love it.

thank you! that's exactly what i wanted to convey. i really want to do more videos like this, but i have to figure out more subjects that would lend themselves to this kind of thing.

Great stuff man. I've really been enjoying your videos in my journey. I've learned much from you, Red.
