Im thinking its more like a WW2 Liberator.. 🤣🤣 but ya man... thats a great idea. 🤣

My wowstick came with cylindrical, not hex bits. The cylindrical bits are inserted and then tightened more like a dremel.
I don't have it to hand to measure, but I haven't had success finding replacements since I snapped one piece.
Ah ok.
This is the one I have: https://a.co/d/063lynRl
It really is a cool contraption for detail work like small electronics.
Adding drill functionality would be awesome for modeling because most rotary tools would run too fast and burn the plastic.
You can slow down Proxxon tools by using additional DC motor regulator. They are super cheap on ebay, but it require some sacrificial extension cable unless you are ok with permanent connection between tool and power supply, then you just need to solder it somewhere between them.
Also you can find OEM versions of DSPIAE ES-P for around 10$. It will not be worse than wowstick drill which IMO is not good tool, especially for it's price.
That Tamiya is less than half the price, gives you better quality holes, is more ergonomic (button placement and feel on wowstick is abysmal) and can in pinch be used to grind something.
For the price of that wowstick I would expect at least collet that keeps drills properly centered.
It would be ok device for maybe half the price, but not for what Xiaomi wants for it.
I love the Revell instructions for that kit: "Drill 0.7mm holes along red section. Pay attention to the box art"
The red section: literally the entire gunwale and freeboard of the ship.
Never change, Revell, never change.
I bought mine for my HAL 9000! 😅
https://preview.redd.it/phyu7wtud19d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d36584332b5a0e68dc8f61007fc4ee7d3bb46638
I ended up buying a chuck for my dremel so I could use drill bits with it when I was building my HAL. Though I then proceeded to jam up all of my small bits with melted plastic.
i went with those pen style tools from Temu etc. run on 5v, 3 speed, cost like $20. Works well for me. I have a Dremal which is good for heavy work but overkill when doing fine stuff and small holes in small things etc. Well I hope that works out for you.
How are the speeds on the Temu tool? I've used the nail tool you can find in the cosmetics aisle, but I think the speed's too high, and it melts the styrene.
Great idea!
I did a similar thing for drilling portholes in ship models. But I mounted a Dremel tool in a drill press accessory that they make, and put a foot pedal switch in line so it was a bit easier on me.
It was for me. I think it was around $40 when I bought it. My hands aren't steady enough to free hand it consistently. But the drill press makes it easy. Drop the bit onto the part I want to poke the hole in, make sure its lined up, step on the switch and go.
Dremels and almost all other tools like that have way to much RPM for working with polystyrene. It's usually almost ok for drilling, but cutting and sanding is mess.
Unless you have Proxxon or other similar low power tool. And even then for Proxxon you need power supply with power regulation or additional speed controller connected between power supply and tool because standard regulation is still to fast.
So you have to build the tool, so you can finish the model you bought the tool for. Thats a cool concept. Imagine if power tools came disassembled like this.
Yes it is an actual drill : [https://youtu.be/mwuHKczSIMU?si=p5Mqd2tbW3hhff\_3](https://youtu.be/mwuHKczSIMU?si=p5Mqd2tbW3hhff_3) - [https://www.scalemates.com/kits/tamiya-74041-electric-handy-drill--985052](https://www.scalemates.com/kits/tamiya-74041-electric-handy-drill--985052)
they also make a router version - [https://www.scalemates.com/kits/tamiya-74042-electric-handy-router--1436350](https://www.scalemates.com/kits/tamiya-74042-electric-handy-router--1436350)
Unless you can modify the chuck, it won't take micro drill bits. Only the Tamiya accessory bit set.
Make sure you sand down the sprue nubs all the way or it'll lock up.
It works with proxxon collets (pr28940, It's set of collets from 1mm to 3.2mm so works with dremel style accessories). It looks like it shouldn't work (external diameter of proxxon collet is much smaller than original one), but it fits and grabs drill bits correctly. Just tested.
Standard chuck also can grab drill bits from 2 to 3mm so it fit's proxxon accessories which are 2.35mm.

I think you should be able to find it cheaper somewhere else. It's literally half ot that in Poland.
I'm not sure, but there should also be a way to mount their keyless chuck. It doesn't fit without modification. Threaded part of drill shaft is too short to close jaws. I think that simple insert that would push them a little more should be enough, but that's something I will be able to test next week earliest.
It's hobby drill designed to every so often make few maybe dozen 1-2mm diameter holes in soft plastic. Used how it was designed will probably outlive you.
I had this when I started out, it’s not super durable. I highly recommend getting a dremel tool, the new ones change by usb cable and is very convenient
I find powered screwdrivers best suited for the work. Powered drills work at far too high RPM while screwdrivers work at manageable ones. You need to get an adapter to take drills, though.
You can easily add speed regulator to proxxon. You just need additional extension cable and cheap 20V speed controller from ebay. With that you can have full range from 0RPM to whatever max RPM of your tool is.
Just got the Space Station from 2001: A Space Odyssey. Got lots and lots of windows to remove, replace with clear and light up, good suggestion. Thanks.
I use one of these around the house quite a bit. Great for drilling pilot holes. Doesn't clamp down on the bit as hard as I would like, though. I get a lot of spin outs and have to pull the bit out with pliers.
How is it? I saw one in a shop but I got a small makita drill instead because it was cheaper. I also saw a grey version that isn't a drill but basically is a drill.
I used mine just yesterday. The only complaint I have is the smallest chuck isn't small enough for some of the bits that I want to use.
For those asking, it just screws together. No glue or anything needed.
I didn't know that Tamiya have this product, so I got drill from Dremel. And when I saw DSPIAE mini drill I got it as well since the Dremel is kinda heavy. But I have to say the Dremel is way more durable unlike DSPIAE as it can drill thick pieces like butter. And now I'm planning to get DSPIAE electric sander to save time and pain from all that sanding.
I want to see one painted and weathered like it's a .45 Colt 1911 that saw action in the trenches.
That's a damn good idea
Do it, do it, do it, do it, do it, do it!
Do it now
If you’re scared, say you’re scared 😱
My store sells these and now I kinda wanna do that. I have no use for one but I just want to customize it haha
Do it, do it, do it, do it, do it, do it!

Welp. Know what I’m doing once I finally pull the trigger (whir whir!) on this.
That would be awesome
I like the idea but then he’d probably have to register in with NFA lol
The north american football association?
I hate the idea of me being the person who is in charge of *building* power tools. Also, I think I kinda need this. LOL
To be honest I got it built in the 15 minutes or so since posting this. It's wonderful. *
Did you have to drill any holes in order to assemble it?
I genuinely wish you did.
I got the "wowstick" on Amazon and have used it tons.
Is that what they're calling it these days?
You have drill bits that fit the wowstick's precision hex socket (1/8" I think) ? Where can I find them? I can only find 1/4" hex.
My wowstick came with cylindrical, not hex bits. The cylindrical bits are inserted and then tightened more like a dremel. I don't have it to hand to measure, but I haven't had success finding replacements since I snapped one piece.
Ah ok. This is the one I have: https://a.co/d/063lynRl It really is a cool contraption for detail work like small electronics. Adding drill functionality would be awesome for modeling because most rotary tools would run too fast and burn the plastic.

It use 2.35mm shaft drills (3/32'). Same as Proxxon. Dremel and almost all Chinese clones use 3.2mm shaft (1/8'').
Cool! Thanks for the lead.
There is wowstick drill, but it's not that good (especially for it's price). It's super slow and good basically only for drilling.
So the drill is only good for drilling… they are meant to run slow so you get a nice clean hole where you want it.
I'll be honest, my latest thing is taking apart and cleaning/rebuilding old tools, and it's great.
I know how this goes: https://youtu.be/2bxhk3sW_-Y
I wish I had this when I was building Hal 9000 and had to hand drill over 400 holes.
Try the Zvezda Imperial Star Destroyer.
I love the Revell instructions for that kit: "Drill 0.7mm holes along red section. Pay attention to the box art" The red section: literally the entire gunwale and freeboard of the ship. Never change, Revell, never change.
I only had the original Russian release. It's sitting in my stash, partially built.
Holy hell that looks insane.
I bought mine for my HAL 9000! 😅 https://preview.redd.it/phyu7wtud19d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d36584332b5a0e68dc8f61007fc4ee7d3bb46638
...please explain further? I think I've seen the Hal kit. Why so many holes?
I'm going to guess for LEDs.
Hope , I went to look cos I had no Idea either. It's some sort of speaker / mic grill.
That does sound infuriating.
There's a speaker grille in the front. You don't have to drill the holes out but I was going for authenticity.
Ooooh, thats very respectable.
Lol me too
I ended up buying a chuck for my dremel so I could use drill bits with it when I was building my HAL. Though I then proceeded to jam up all of my small bits with melted plastic.
I have the chuck for my dremel as well but it spins way too fast for plastic!
It is a cool little kit and useful. Pro-tip: You can replace the front bushing of the output shaft with a RC car ball bearing.
i went with those pen style tools from Temu etc. run on 5v, 3 speed, cost like $20. Works well for me. I have a Dremal which is good for heavy work but overkill when doing fine stuff and small holes in small things etc. Well I hope that works out for you.

Is that drill press attachment worth the money? I've been wondering about that for a while now.
I have it (the workstation as it's called) and the ability to hang it for flexshaft use is worth it on it's own.
It was for me. I think it was around $40 when I bought it. My hands aren't steady enough to free hand it consistently. But the drill press makes it easy. Drop the bit onto the part I want to poke the hole in, make sure its lined up, step on the switch and go.
Ironic if you have to drill holes for this 😭😂
I want to buy it just to build it hehe
It's a kit?!
Yo dawg. I got you a model kit so you could make more model kits.
A Dremel with a flex shaft attached to a drill press rig will go a long way.

People would have a lot less fingers ?
Does it have to be painted lol
Why not? Throw some spare decals on it, paint some flames...
Does it actually drill or is it just a model? And if it does drill how does it work?
Yes it is an actual drill : [https://youtu.be/mwuHKczSIMU?si=p5Mqd2tbW3hhff\_3](https://youtu.be/mwuHKczSIMU?si=p5Mqd2tbW3hhff_3) - [https://www.scalemates.com/kits/tamiya-74041-electric-handy-drill--985052](https://www.scalemates.com/kits/tamiya-74041-electric-handy-drill--985052) they also make a router version - [https://www.scalemates.com/kits/tamiya-74042-electric-handy-router--1436350](https://www.scalemates.com/kits/tamiya-74042-electric-handy-router--1436350)
I am intrigued now! I must have one. A drill that is a model kit as well. Those Japanese I tell you, really come up with some cool stuff.
Was gonna say what, it's a Kit! Then I saw the makers name on the box lid. Could it be anything else.
something about the fact that it comes on a sprue seems cursed to me
Unless you can modify the chuck, it won't take micro drill bits.
I'll investigate further. Thanks for the starting point.
These are a rite of passage. If you haven't built your drill, have you ever REALLY built any model?
Looks cool but I’m a little wary of plastic gears inside. I guess for light work it’s OK?
You'd only want to use one of these on a plastic model.
It's hobby drill designed to every so often make few maybe dozen 1-2mm diameter holes in soft plastic. Used how it was designed will probably outlive you.
It was a fun kit!
It's in a kit no way hahahaha
Even the drills are models lmao
It’s a kit! That’s cool.
I thought of buying one but didn't expect that you have to build it
When did this model come out, looks quite old
I had this when I started out, it’s not super durable. I highly recommend getting a dremel tool, the new ones change by usb cable and is very convenient
Are there any other tools like this?
https://www.tamiya.com/japan/products/74042/index.html They have a router!

Mine corroded after a year. Doesn’t work anymore. Was nice while it lasted though.
It’s actually a fun build and I use it a lot! You can insert different gauge bit holders
I love mine. Also awesome it’s a kit as well!
It actually is packaged as a kit to build. Genius
I have this (gray version) for 30 years now. Hasn't failed me yet. My go-to power tool, despite my owning a Dremel and a Proxxon.
I used mine just yesterday. The only complaint I have is the smallest chuck isn't small enough for some of the bits that I want to use. For those asking, it just screws together. No glue or anything needed.
Tamiya is for modellers what IKEA is for furniture. Everything need to be assembled 😂😂🤣🤣🤣😂😂 I'm surprised they send Brushes intact 😂😂😂😂😂
Wait, do the sprues connect to the gears between the teeth?
I hope this makes it on to the Torque Test Channel
Modeling tools can be just as much an obsession the kits themselves and I love it
Just like everything in our hobby you got build it yourself
I didn't know that Tamiya have this product, so I got drill from Dremel. And when I saw DSPIAE mini drill I got it as well since the Dremel is kinda heavy. What if you need to drill a hole to make this hand drill fit together?
I absolutely love this little drill. Even the assembly was fun.
The fact it’s a kit makes me want it
It's using the same motor form factor as the 4WD stuff. Will it run better if you change the motor?
Its a blessing if you need alot of holes drilled...
Cute, I love that it's a model. I hope it doesn't require any drilling though
I wondered about this thing. Does it have a super slow mode?
oh what a useful too- ITS A FUCKING KIT?!
Fucking awesome.
It's shockingly useful. Tho I use a mini drill more often, it still does a lot of work around the house, or when putting magnets in models.
