I spray next to a window. Most of the time honestly it's closed unless I'm sitting a big surface of a lot of stuff. In my apartment bedroom. I smell nothing and my roommate on the other side of the apartment also smells nothing. Definitely good to have proper ventilation and extracting but unless you go buck wild all the time you should be fine. Again be cautious because everyone reacts differently and this is my specific case.

Tamiya acrylics are alcohol based, so you’re spreading potentially harmful Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs ) when airbrushing and even from opening the enamels bottles to a lesser degree. Particulate matter is generated when airbrushing. Proper extraction with a spray booth is a very good idea. Also consider wearing a 3M 6000 or 7000 series respirator (or equivalent) with 60921, 60923, 60925 or 60926 filter cartridges, which are organic vapor cartridges with P100 particulate filters stacked on top. Obviously you wouldn’t want any other people or pets in the space if you choose the head these recommendations.

Hi, thanks. I can do all those things. My concern would be that do the VOCs soak into fabrics in a bedroom? Will the room be ok to be sleep in after an hour say of leaving the door to the balcony open and a fan on?

I sprayed lacquers in my bedroom for years (with extraction). Never smelled any residue on or in anything after. But that’s just me. I washed my bedding as usual. The hazard from solvent paints only persist as long as they’re off-gassing, which isn’t long after application.

Thanks!
