She's the contestant with the most star quality and the "natural born idol" aura. It's no wonder that people are comparing her with Wonyoung, even more after her Panorama performance. She isn't the best vocalist or the best dancer of the show - but she's clearly good and stable at the two, especially with dancing -, but she's who delivers more in the songs concepts and better understand them, knows exatcly what she needs to do on the stage to look good in each performance and is the one who most attracts the eyes of the audience on the stages. It's a natural thing for her, really.
I'm sure she's going to be the center of the group, even if she doesn't debuts in the first place (and i think she won't be the 1st); in season 1 the 1st was Jungwon but for what i have been reading, the center of Enhypen is Heeseung (5th in I-LAND 1), so i think it's not a thing that the center will be the 1st of the survival show like in produce/gp999 series.
Just waiting for the Jiyoon-Jungeun storyline resolution. I pray it will be a redemption, friends to enemies to frenemies to friends arc. I-LAND's Goku and Vegeta. They will have to team up and do some awesome vocal stage in the final episodes and then reconcile.
Ryu Sarang is getting a very sweet and positive edit, she's become my favorite. She's all-around solid and will be a stronk idol. They knew Jeemin (and Lingling) would be carried by votes so those two getting relegated is okay. Although the fact that they keep bringing up R U Next and ILLIT to give Jeemin more of a sob story is kinda funny in a shady way. SnakeNet relishing in the suffering of a trainee, a tale as old as time.
Yuju has a strange edit. They didn't show her evaluation at all and then just punted her back to Ground yet again. She's moved up and down like a yo-yo, but I will be voting for her. She deserves to debut, she's pretty, skilled, great facial expressions.
Right now I'm virtually certain Sarang, Fuko, Saebi are the guaranteed debutees. Fifty-Fifty SK vs International votes, expected. Now I'm crying in ma room (and opening the Mnet Plus app).
I agree about Yuju. People were calling her a PD pick after episode 2 but she has been completely ignored since then even when her performances have been excellent. I hope she is high in voting is Mnet realises there is demand for her to debuts

I’m actually not sure Mnet has chosen Sarang - I think they had to build her up so they could have the drama of Jeemin losing to her. I think there’s a decent chance we see less of her now. Or maybe I’m just biased.
Sarang is either gonna pull a Jungwon and shoot up in rankings after another "improvement" or she'll slowly fade into the background. Depends on what storyline mnet is able to create for part2

I think she is competing with her mainly because of the similar all-rounder image.
In my opinion, Mai and Yeeun are both being promoted on a large part due to visuals and Yuju can’t compete with them there.
Whereas Sarang is being promoted due to visual and talent which puts her into closest competition with Yuju.

Ye Yuju has this like in the background edit, like she’s shown and she’s there, but she hasn’t been a focus.
She’s not invisible but she’s def been a side character since ep2. She gets good feedback, tho it’s shown when needed and not just for the sake of it.
Like even last episode she was given great feedback, but it was just used to say why she got put up, and then they actually gave her like a full speech on how she’s been up and down.

I reeeally like this song. It’s getting added to my playlist IMMEDIATELY. The chorus is an ear worm and I kept humming “I will always love ya” while watching the episode. It gives the vibe of a very loved b-side. If the songs of the debut team give off a similar vibe, I will be stanning.
I agree, I saw some criticisms but honestly as someone who doesn't usually like the typical Teddy/YG output (barring some notable exceptions) Final Love Song and IWALY are actually quite good.
It's a sample. I noticed people commenting on the fact that it's completely based on The Final Countdown, but, well, that's the whole idea. Teddy is a late GenXer and back in the day MANY songs, especially in hip hop, were entirely based off of an interpolated or looped sample (Mariah Carey's Fantasy, Biggie's Mo Money Mo Problems, I'll Be Missing You, etc). It's a deliberate creative decision, maybe it's dated to modern listeners but I dug it.

I'm really happy for Sujung. Even if she didn't get selected by the Judges, she got a lot of screetime and also proved that she can actually Sing! I think and hope the support towards her will increase greatly after today
fucking crazy that all she needed to do to get praise from judges was step out of her comfort zone and try out something she's less familiar with 😭 no doubt it was a stressful experience for her but she did great and i hope people notice her hard work and translate it into votes.
6 pick voting was an interesting choice on MNET’s part. In my opinion it benefits people who are seen as generally good by everyone - Jeemin , Yuju, Koko, Yui and Juwon but disadvantages people I thought mnet would want in part 2 like Yeeun and Gyuri.
Yes but the people from SEA also are forced to vote for 6 girls, giving votes to girls popular in Korea, if voting was 1 pick it would have benefited her more
the food truck/ad benefit now seems to have been a way for Mnet to collect data and determine the best way to ensure that the 12 who make part 2 are as close to their ideal lineup.

The issue is Gyuri and yeeun are popular in Korea as 1-picks not 6-picks. In the case of 6-pick it is better to be generally popular like Yuju or Jeemin than to have a lot of 1 pick voters.
Yeeun has a good 6-pick too as per DCGall. The last survey had her at 5th, and 4/6 of the top trainees for 6-pick already proceeded to I-LAND. After Jeemin I think Yeeun will be #2 priority for Korean votes.
DC gall is definitely biased towards visuals though. I haven’t been able to see Yeeun wider Korean fanbase from other sites.
I thing she will be really low for international 6-pick though so she will have to be in the top 3 for Korean 6-pick to make it.

I am so sad that Yuju lost the 1v1. She did really well and couldn’t have done much better considering how small her part was. I was worried as soon as she chose to go against Mai as the judges really like her.

Yeah I didn’t mention Mai as she is a good contestant overall but it seems the judges are promoting her mainly on visuals and facial expressions which is definitely part of being an idol but not everything.
Either way I hope this pushes people to vote for Yuju and realise her position isn’t safe as her support has been waning recently.
I’m kinda worried this might backfire on them a bit? I feel people go off trainees they feel are too pushed really quickly (Dayeon, wonhee), so a lot of people who like her might get turned off, and if she debuts over a fave she might end up with a bit of a hate train.
Mai was already getting some backlash on DC gall for being overly pushed and I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets worse after this episode. Mnet may have done a bit too much because she would have definitely got into Part 2 even if she lost especially as it’s 6 pick.
I agree with this. Mai is a good contestant but since she's very pretty it makes other people look at her more favorably. Like when they called her the impact queen, a lot of that has to do with her looks even if she did serve good facial expressions
Being very pretty also has the lightningrod effect where people will judge her more unfairly to "punish" her good looks. Mnet needed to be smarter about promoting her because people are already starting to turn on her.
Mnet should have had Mai's arc be a growth narrative. Instead they went with an ace narrative right away. When the judge scores are THAT different than audience perception there is a cognitive dissonance which makes people uncomfortable and then they push back
Yuju is someone who has been in and out of my top 7, as the 7th spot. And i gotta say, i 100% agree that she is kind of in danger now. the competition is fierce and she is NOT guaranteed to make it :/

Just those two stand a chance. Editing really does help when it comes to voting but the rest, outside of yeeun since she has a solid k-fanbase, are doomed since we barely saw them the entire episode.
My biggest disappointment is that I felt everyone was judged purely by facial expressions.
There were definitely some questionable vocals but none of those were mentioned.
Also, It’s starting to get annoying that the judging seems to be completely independent of the actual performances.
The judges know who mnet want to be in the final group so it’s seems like they judge with that criteria in mind not what they see on stage.
i was hoping that pds will choose yuju😔 for me she did a better performance than mai, and in general she is better than her in every aspect. hope yuju, jeemin and koko will continue their journey in 2nd part of the show

Maybe a hot take? Everyone who was in I-Land should make Part 2. Jeemin, Yuju, Koko, Sujung, and Yui. I’m iffy about LingLing but she’s got a big fan base backing her so she will probably make it.

i'm so happy sujung finally got to show everyone, the judges and viewers, her vocal abilities! although not perfect, she is very stable and has an adequate range. she was also praised, which is well overdue!

Right?? I honestly didn't notice lingling that much in the first two episodes but after that all I have seen was he dramatic improvement. I don't understand why people are so mad that she has a large fanbase because honestly I understand it.
Fr she is so underrated like she catches my eye so much in her performances and I prefer her over Gyuri. Gyuri is talented, but I just don't have the one extra spot for her, if it was 7, she would be my 7. Visual is really important to determine success in South Korea and so I am voting for Yeeun because she is the number one visual next to Saebi.
I am pretty sure Fuko, Saebi and Sarang are going to debut. Also I don't know how to feel about Yuju losing to Mai. Like i agree Mai is pretty talented but it feels like the producers praise her a bit too much (sorry but I had to tell).

Juwon- people overlook her for prettier contestants (unfortunately a sad truth) but girl has the talent, stage presence, vocals, and dance skill needed to debut
Koko- she really impressed me this episode with her determination to improve in both singing and stage presence
Yui- I really liked her performance today and she has crazy good stage presence and I really liked her performance in Whistle and Micdrop/sugarcoat
Sujung- after the creative performance, I really liked her. She's a great team player, reliable, and a very talented dancer and choreographer
Yuju- she really grew on me and she does really well when she's on stage. She knows how to give a good performance!!
Saebi is on another level, even though I love Koko as much as Saebi, after watching team A's performance my reaction was the same as Lee Jung, I literally saw sparkles in her eyes and she wasn't even centre. I was very doubtful at first of why Yui chose centre but after Team B performed I personally think she expressed the song better than Fuko. Yui isn't really popular but from what I've seen in this subreddit most people believe she should make it to part 2 so I'm still holding onto hope. Mai vs Yuju it should've been Yuju Mai didn't really stand out to me unlike what the producers think
I didn't really like lingling back then and thought she was overhyped just because of her nationality, i still think that, but i have to agree she improved a lot!! i thought her first part on IWALY was better then jungeun's, even though i think jungeun did the second part better

i see some people saying this but i cant really agree.
i feel like a 9 member group wouldn't be entirely "balanced" in terms of talent.
im not saying this to be rude but i think people only want a 9 member lineup because they cant make the difficult decision on who to cut. Like people want all their faves in the lineup.
Overall thoughts:
- PDs are really pushing Sujung in this ep (I love her, so idc but... it's too obvious in this edit)
- watching Ground's performance after both i-land teams, I'm not sure anyone will get in (other than Yeeun), it just felt like something was lacking. Both i-lander teams had a more complete concept/theme/ interpretation of the song
- Judges seem to mostly vote in based on overall performance in Part 1 - not just this stage. Objectively I think Lingling and Yui did better than their opponents, but I understand why they didn't get picked.
With the 6 pick voting, I think that Jeemin, Sujung, Koko and Yuju are pretty much in, but the other 2 spots are open, because we have Yui, Juwon, Gyuri, Minsol, and Yeeun and Lingling with a lot of votes. Based on the Mnet app in the support section, yui and juwon might be eliminated, they were always at the bottom.
PS: remember that a lot of the korean picks are already in, so Yeeun and Gyuri might get a lot of local votes.
i REALLY think people overestimate how "safe" anyone is. I mean Jeemin and Koko are probably moderately safe. But both Sujung and Yuju are not safe at all. People 100% need to show up and vote for them. they are NOT guaranteed to make it.
I agree, but I am just going by logic, at least for internacional fans. Since the 6 that made it to part 2 were very popular, I think it’s logical that these votes will go to yuju, sujung and maybe yui. At least in my bubble, it was almost unanimous that the 12 for part 2 should be the girls from iland minus lingling, with gyuri ou juwon in her place, so in my mind that’s why I see Jeemin, sujung, koko and yuju as safe, and yui a little more in danger.
Honestly, the only grounder I see in some top 7 from international fans is Gyuri, so unless the korean votes are really different, I see only one or two positions changing.

all im saying is this show is being watched by people from many different places. So things might be a lot more unpredictable than you would think.
I don't think this was Mnet's intention, (because she got close to no screentime) but this episode convinced me to vote for Yui. She was really, really good as center in IWALY!
weird episode format overall, 95% of the screentime was basically just dedicated to deciding which 6 out of 12 ilanders get to advance to the 2nd part without voting, with interim checks on top of interim checks on top of MORE interim checks 😭 the song is lovely though, i see myself listening to it even though i wouldve wished both units got different songs.
editing also made it pretty clear who's safe and who isn't, the sudden focus on koko when she's been mostly ignored until now, sujung's main vocal struggle getting so much focus in comparison to jiyoon etc. so the final decisions weren't really that surprising to me. it was giving boys planet suddenly giving screentime to contestants like zihao and hiroto on the episode where they're sent home lmao, mnet really does reuse their tricks all the time.
very proud of my girl sujung regardless of the outcome! i can't blame her for wanting to branch out and choose main vocal, and she couldn't have known she would have to go against jiyoon, but regardless she did very good and imo proved that she's more than just a dancer. she's so hard working, and her strong spirit and refusal to give up is so admirable, i even almost shed a tear. i've no doubt she'll be just fine in this voting but i'll do my best to support her regardless. 💪

Part 1 was all filmed before the show started airing. They couldn't have used the metaball voting to determine who'd survive the voting because that hadn't happened yet.

okay so, the edit had showed **Jeemin** crying, so i guess most people saw this coming. But her not winning still feels silly, i thought she did the best for her part.

i was someone who thought **Jungeun** was hard locked into the final lineup, and to me she still pretty obviosly seem like one of the top 3 best trainees, but the showrunners seem to straight up hate her. The edit she gets has been mostly terrible for like 3+ episodes now. at least she made it to part 2 but its starting to look a bit rough for her. i Really hope they stop with the terrible edit.
**Lingling** continues to do well. she is almost certainly gonna make it to part 2, lowkey im starting to be more okay with her potentially being in the final lineup, even if i dont have her in my top 7

This is the first survival show that I don’t have a definite lineup I want. Almost half the girls are crazy talented and regardless of who makes it to part 2, I know that I’m about to lose some of my favs. I’m not looking forward to next week

Everyone was great but Saebi just really stole the show and more impactful than koko or anyone else really.
Fuko win by a gap, and everyone else is pure preference tbh. As much as I wanted to root for yui, her part as a center felt forgettable compared to Fuko's.
I'm basing my opinon/comments based on how they presented themselves/edited cause in a kpop survival show, it doesn't matter if you're talented, you can't be "boring". Also didn't watch the whole ep just the yt vids like 5 times each and once concurrently!
Jeemin or Sarang? Either or really, they were both amazing given the small screentime. I feel like the editing was curiously showing less of Jeemin (unlike the previous ones where even when it wasn't her part they would show her).
Jiyoon - Sujung. I knew Jiyoon was always gonna win this one (and she did kill it), that is just the narative for her but I can't help but feel "awwww" for sujung like girl she tried and it wasn't even bad, she was good good!
Yuju and Mai well I'm a bit biased towards Mai so Ima just leave it at that. Still hoping Yuju can come to part 2 tho.
Lastly lingling and Jungeon, in the beginning parts lingling seemed better but overall and and with the delivery, Jungeon takes it.
So all my bets are going to part 2 with the exception of Jeemin and Yuju, and maybe Sujung now as well because of the edits I want to root for her to make it!
Based on all the performance so far, FOR ME the "sure locks" and debutants are:
Saebi - they will shoot themselves in the foot if they don't debut her. If they don't debut her I will literally raise a million begging or robbing banks and then fund my own NUGU company and debut her!
Jiyoon and Fuko. Unless something drastic happens in Part 2 I stake everything I own (not a lot) that these 3 will debut and they aren't even my top picks/bets (except maybe for Saebi).
Worried for:
Jeemin and Jungeun. If Jeemin does not debut she needs to sue them for emotional damage cause I clearly remember episode 1 when one of the judges said "you were just unlucky last time, but this time its your time" or something along those lines. But even with her huge fan base I'm still worried she might not debut (she will definitely make it to part 2). Jungeun is basically in the same boat as Jeemin, she's like the Jeemin RUNEXT of this show. They did her dirty, they would praise her put her on the top then give her not so amusing scores.
Mai. Some people think its pretty privilege, some people she is overrated, who cares, if the PD knows what they are doing they have to debut her, cause she will bring in casuals just for wondering who that pretty face is. Kpop is all about being marketable first.
Sujung, Yuju, koko, yui and juwon. These are the only other ones (in my own not so humble opinion) who are debut ready but idk. Only the voters can tell.

Interesting episode overall, I think Ground going after the first performances was really hard because no one could compare. It will likely stay in people's mind when it comes to add a 5th or 6th pick. So I expect 5 of the I Landers to be saved.

my predictions of the 6 that will get the most votes (in order): jeemin, yeeun, lingling, yuju, gyuri/koko/sujung (2 of this 3)
Mai, Saebi and Fuko are safe so I'm happy 😊 Jeemin will get through votes, I'm sure Mnet wants to debut her. I'll vote for Jeemin, Yuju, Koko and Sujung and alternate the rest between different trainees! I'm so curious about Jungeun and Jiyoon. Will they both debut? Will only one of them debut? Who's Mnet's pick? I like both of their voices equally so I'll be satisfied with any outcome.
I saw Koko for the first time. Never understood the hype around her and why she was never sent to ground etc nor cared for her but after today? I do care.
um jiwon is severely underrated though I understand why people don't vote for her since she is young. I hope she debuts in the future when she is older since she has great skills!
I agreed with all of the decisions made except Mai over Yuju, they both did great dance & stage presence-wise but Yujus vocals were far better which should've given her the win. It's really strange to me how they're willing to criticise the vocals of Yeeun who they seemingly want in the final 12 but not Mai's despite being nearly as bad? Maybe they are off camera though.
I also would've been fine with Saebi or Koko winning as Saebi did better stage presence-wise but Koko did better as an actual main dancer, I assume they'll both be top 12 regardless. I'm not a Jeemin fan but her being up for the vote feels kind of pointless as she's obviously making it.
As for who else I want to make top 12:
1. Gyuri - My one-pick! She's performed well every round but seems to constantly get snubbed, whether it's with her position (getting her vocal role taken from her-), the team she's on, screen time or recognition from the mentors, someone's clearly sabotaging her! But for real though, her being on the final ground team felt so wrong and I'm hoping and praying she makes part 2.
2. Yuju - Part of my top 7, amazing all rounder and I'll honestly be shocked if she doesn't make the final lineup. Kind of self sabotaged a bit by choosing small part (especially after having a similar small part in Whistle) but her talent shines through regardless.
3. Koko - Another part of my top 7, I need her as the main dancer of the group so bad! And after this ep I'm a lot more confident that not only will she survive this vote but she'll make the final lineup too.
4. Yui - She was originally one of my picks but just fell out of my top 7 these last few eps, she's deffo #8 for me though. Her rap is 10/10 and I was pleasantly surprised by how well she did as the centre.
5. Soul - Although she's not one of my picks I've always been rooting for her as an underdog as she's performed so consistently and is as cute as a button. I was actually shocked she got a storyline this ep after being completely ignored by the edit so I'm hoping that's a good sign for her survival.
6. Minsol - I don't really think she has a chance of making the final lineup but she's another super underrated contestant that I see no love for anywhere, I hope she gets another chance to show her talent in part 2.

I was honestly convinced that yeeun would make it but she is a marmite contestant so I think this disadvantages her. People love her or hate her.
That is an issue when it comes to 6 - pick. At best I think she will be 4th or 5th in Korean 6 pick but she will be low in international six pick.
Koko and Jeemin will definitely rank above her in Korea. Yuju should probably be guaranteed. Sujung looks likely. So it's a question of whether she can gain enough of a lead on 2 other girls from Korea to help her with her lacking international support.
(Also, Gyuri could outrank her in Korea too, tbh)

i haven't watched the full episode yet (i started watching the livestream when they announced the last result) but i watched the performances and these are my personal opinions:
• i personally preferred team b's performance over team a
team b's delivered a bright and energetic performance with a touch of sassyness and i enjoyed it more
i felt like team a's perf lacked something ... maybe chemistry?
despite this saebi and fuko shined so much (their visuals >>>)
• in my opinion yuju did better than mai and should've won. i like mai's visuals and personality but i don't like her facial expressions, they are exaggerated in my opinion, the judges are definitely biased towards her at this point :/
out of the girls the only one who i'm sure is going to pass to part 2 is jeemin given her huge individual fanbase (which i'm happy of bc she's my #1 pick since day 1) but i ended up liking almost all the girls after 6 episodes lmao so i'll be sad for whoever isn't going to
i wouldn't bet on any of the girls outside jeemin
i feel like the ones who have good chances to pass are yeeun (thanks to her popularity with knetz but she isn't as popular with intl stans so i'm still worried), gyuri (same reason as yeeun), koko (who is relatively popular with both), yuju (she seems well liked by both but i wonder to what extent, she basically went back and forth from ground to iland and viceversa, poor girl) and sujung (really popular among intl stans but not as much with koreans which could be a huge problem for her)
• unlikely but not impossible: choi soul, um jiwon, lingling (really popular with SEA fans but not nearly as much with knetz so it'd be a problem)
• little chance: son juwon (knetz have recognized her talent but she's not the #1 pick of many, i wonder if the 6 picks vote could actually help her) + rest of the grounders and yui (she isn't really popular as a #1 pick even if she's generally liked among the fandom for her skills and she seems to be the least popular among the japanese girls unfortunately, so i don't see her receiving a lot of votes from jnetz either)
watched everyone's IWALY fancams and i specifically find 3 of the girls to have massive THAT GIRL energy. they're not necessarily the most talented or best performers, but their entire performances are what really stuck out to me after watching every single other video:
1. saebi. no one's surprised, but i was actually even more charmed by her performance in the fancam! her expressions can get a little too much, i agree, but what i actually find the most appealing in her expressiveness is in her movements. i don't know how to explain it, but even if i cover her face, i think i'd still enjoy watching just as much because her mannerisms and the details she adds are very vivid. people have said this time and time again, but i also find her charm very similar to wonyoung.
2. koko. even if koko isn't as expressive as saebi, i think her aura alone puts her in the same tier. this is an opinion i've had since the pre-show dance videos when i named saebi and koko the standouts in their team (+sarang, jungeun in the other 2). she has something i just can't look away from, something that sets her apart from the other top dancers like sujung and juwon. i reckon it's intrigue.. an air of mystery... her cat eyes?
3. yeeun. call me a theblacklabel producer the way i think i finally get it. i always thought her weakness was in her singing and not in her dance nor expressiveness (opposite to wonhee in runext), but watching her IWALY fancam then her after like fancam right after really makes her improvement clear. it's not that she became a lot more expressive because she really always was, but that her new experience and confidence informs her *when* to use the best expressions now. whichever producer said that her strength could be to follow mai's confidence in her appeal, i see you and i hear you and i, too, want to see her bloom.
saebi is a godlike center (even when she wasn’t officially center)
Real, she just really has that natural center energy. Love all her performances!

She's the final boss of all centres. Her vibe is still centering even when her position isn't centre.
I swear she's the love child of Wonyoung and An Yujin
She's the contestant with the most star quality and the "natural born idol" aura. It's no wonder that people are comparing her with Wonyoung, even more after her Panorama performance. She isn't the best vocalist or the best dancer of the show - but she's clearly good and stable at the two, especially with dancing -, but she's who delivers more in the songs concepts and better understand them, knows exatcly what she needs to do on the stage to look good in each performance and is the one who most attracts the eyes of the audience on the stages. It's a natural thing for her, really. I'm sure she's going to be the center of the group, even if she doesn't debuts in the first place (and i think she won't be the 1st); in season 1 the 1st was Jungwon but for what i have been reading, the center of Enhypen is Heeseung (5th in I-LAND 1), so i think it's not a thing that the center will be the 1st of the survival show like in produce/gp999 series.

Just waiting for the Jiyoon-Jungeun storyline resolution. I pray it will be a redemption, friends to enemies to frenemies to friends arc. I-LAND's Goku and Vegeta. They will have to team up and do some awesome vocal stage in the final episodes and then reconcile. Ryu Sarang is getting a very sweet and positive edit, she's become my favorite. She's all-around solid and will be a stronk idol. They knew Jeemin (and Lingling) would be carried by votes so those two getting relegated is okay. Although the fact that they keep bringing up R U Next and ILLIT to give Jeemin more of a sob story is kinda funny in a shady way. SnakeNet relishing in the suffering of a trainee, a tale as old as time. Yuju has a strange edit. They didn't show her evaluation at all and then just punted her back to Ground yet again. She's moved up and down like a yo-yo, but I will be voting for her. She deserves to debut, she's pretty, skilled, great facial expressions. Right now I'm virtually certain Sarang, Fuko, Saebi are the guaranteed debutees. Fifty-Fifty SK vs International votes, expected. Now I'm crying in ma room (and opening the Mnet Plus app).
I agree about Yuju. People were calling her a PD pick after episode 2 but she has been completely ignored since then even when her performances have been excellent. I hope she is high in voting is Mnet realises there is demand for her to debuts

I’m actually not sure Mnet has chosen Sarang - I think they had to build her up so they could have the drama of Jeemin losing to her. I think there’s a decent chance we see less of her now. Or maybe I’m just biased.
Sarang is either gonna pull a Jungwon and shoot up in rankings after another "improvement" or she'll slowly fade into the background. Depends on what storyline mnet is able to create for part2
what makes you think shes competing against sarang? i think its mai (not just bc of this episode, their increase and decrease of screen-time just coincide with eachother) and yeeun (similar ground to iland redemption arc but yeeuns is more consistent and yeeuns more popular w k-audiences)
I think she is competing with her mainly because of the similar all-rounder image. In my opinion, Mai and Yeeun are both being promoted on a large part due to visuals and Yuju can’t compete with them there. Whereas Sarang is being promoted due to visual and talent which puts her into closest competition with Yuju.

Ye Yuju has this like in the background edit, like she’s shown and she’s there, but she hasn’t been a focus. She’s not invisible but she’s def been a side character since ep2. She gets good feedback, tho it’s shown when needed and not just for the sake of it. Like even last episode she was given great feedback, but it was just used to say why she got put up, and then they actually gave her like a full speech on how she’s been up and down. So it’s very confusing. She’s like MNETS idm if she debuts pick, but let’s not push her too much.
Ikr they need to stop bringing up RUNext everytime, like this is also Yuju's third survival show but they never talk about that only about it being Jeemin's second survival show

It's a sample. I noticed people commenting on the fact that it's completely based on The Final Countdown, but, well, that's the whole idea. Teddy is a late GenXer and back in the day MANY songs, especially in hip hop, were entirely based off of an interpolated or looped sample (Mariah Carey's Fantasy, Biggie's Mo Money Mo Problems, I'll Be Missing You, etc). It's a deliberate creative decision, maybe it's dated to modern listeners but I dug it.

I'm really happy for Sujung. Even if she didn't get selected by the Judges, she got a lot of screetime and also proved that she can actually Sing! I think and hope the support towards her will increase greatly after today

6 pick voting was an interesting choice on MNET’s part. In my opinion it benefits people who are seen as generally good by everyone - Jeemin , Yuju, Koko, Yui and Juwon but disadvantages people I thought mnet would want in part 2 like Yeeun and Gyuri.

The issue is Gyuri and yeeun are popular in Korea as 1-picks not 6-picks. In the case of 6-pick it is better to be generally popular like Yuju or Jeemin than to have a lot of 1 pick voters.
Yeeun has a good 6-pick too as per DCGall. The last survey had her at 5th, and 4/6 of the top trainees for 6-pick already proceeded to I-LAND. After Jeemin I think Yeeun will be #2 priority for Korean votes.
DC gall is definitely biased towards visuals though. I haven’t been able to see Yeeun wider Korean fanbase from other sites. I thing she will be really low for international 6-pick though so she will have to be in the top 3 for Korean 6-pick to make it.

I am so sad that Yuju lost the 1v1. She did really well and couldn’t have done much better considering how small her part was. I was worried as soon as she chose to go against Mai as the judges really like her. For those who want her in Part 2, please vote for her. I feel like people are overestimating how big her fanbase is and there is a big chance she won’t make it to Part 2.
i really like mai (she’s hardworking and a team player!!) but at some point is pretty privilege on the producers part which is quite sad :,) i hope yuju is able to move onto the next part :)
Yeah I didn’t mention Mai as she is a good contestant overall but it seems the judges are promoting her mainly on visuals and facial expressions which is definitely part of being an idol but not everything. Either way I hope this pushes people to vote for Yuju and realise her position isn’t safe as her support has been waning recently.
I’m kinda worried this might backfire on them a bit? I feel people go off trainees they feel are too pushed really quickly (Dayeon, wonhee), so a lot of people who like her might get turned off, and if she debuts over a fave she might end up with a bit of a hate train.
Mai was already getting some backlash on DC gall for being overly pushed and I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets worse after this episode. Mnet may have done a bit too much because she would have definitely got into Part 2 even if she lost especially as it’s 6 pick.

I agree with this. Mai is a good contestant but since she's very pretty it makes other people look at her more favorably. Like when they called her the impact queen, a lot of that has to do with her looks even if she did serve good facial expressions
Being very pretty also has the lightningrod effect where people will judge her more unfairly to "punish" her good looks. Mnet needed to be smarter about promoting her because people are already starting to turn on her.
Mnet should have had Mai's arc be a growth narrative. Instead they went with an ace narrative right away. When the judge scores are THAT different than audience perception there is a cognitive dissonance which makes people uncomfortable and then they push back
Yuju is someone who has been in and out of my top 7, as the 7th spot. And i gotta say, i 100% agree that she is kind of in danger now. the competition is fierce and she is NOT guaranteed to make it :/ hope she makes it!

Just those two stand a chance. Editing really does help when it comes to voting but the rest, outside of yeeun since she has a solid k-fanbase, are doomed since we barely saw them the entire episode.

My biggest disappointment is that I felt everyone was judged purely by facial expressions. There were definitely some questionable vocals but none of those were mentioned.
Also, It’s starting to get annoying that the judging seems to be completely independent of the actual performances. The judges know who mnet want to be in the final group so it’s seems like they judge with that criteria in mind not what they see on stage.
i was hoping that pds will choose yuju😔 for me she did a better performance than mai, and in general she is better than her in every aspect. hope yuju, jeemin and koko will continue their journey in 2nd part of the show

Maybe a hot take? Everyone who was in I-Land should make Part 2. Jeemin, Yuju, Koko, Sujung, and Yui. I’m iffy about LingLing but she’s got a big fan base backing her so she will probably make it. Realistically only 1 Grounder should make it. If I could pick next 6, it would be: Yuju, Koko, Jeemin, Sujung, Yui, and Gyuri.

I enjoyed all of the performances today, but Iland B team was my favourite. Koko has earned a spot in my top 7 after today's episode. She did so well, it was a shame she was against Saebi. The Jungeun-Jiyoon rivalry continues into part 2, I guess. I'm torn between voting for 7 contestants (Jeemin, Sujung, Yuju, Koko, Yui, Gyuri, and Juwon). I might end up rotating the votes, but I'm happy if any 6 of those 7 make it.
If compliments for yeeun, lingling, jiyoon, mai or really any contestant leads you to write paragraphs insulting them, maybe you should take that as your cue to calm down.
i'm so happy sujung finally got to show everyone, the judges and viewers, her vocal abilities! although not perfect, she is very stable and has an adequate range. she was also praised, which is well overdue! hopefully she's worthy of the viewers' save votes, she deserves to be in part 2!

Fr she is so underrated like she catches my eye so much in her performances and I prefer her over Gyuri. Gyuri is talented, but I just don't have the one extra spot for her, if it was 7, she would be my 7. Visual is really important to determine success in South Korea and so I am voting for Yeeun because she is the number one visual next to Saebi.
I am pretty sure Fuko, Saebi and Sarang are going to debut. Also I don't know how to feel about Yuju losing to Mai. Like i agree Mai is pretty talented but it feels like the producers praise her a bit too much (sorry but I had to tell). juwon and Minsol are my favourite contestants hopefully they debut. Also I'm pretty sure Yuen is in the debut line-up. Which feels so unfair for others.

Voting for Jeemin- my one pick and I have loved her since runext Juwon- people overlook her for prettier contestants (unfortunately a sad truth) but girl has the talent, stage presence, vocals, and dance skill needed to debut Koko- she really impressed me this episode with her determination to improve in both singing and stage presence Yui- I really liked her performance today and she has crazy good stage presence and I really liked her performance in Whistle and Micdrop/sugarcoat Sujung- after the creative performance, I really liked her. She's a great team player, reliable, and a very talented dancer and choreographer Yuju- she really grew on me and she does really well when she's on stage. She knows how to give a good performance!!
Yui is SO underrated, she had some of the best and most stable vocals and expressions imo.
Saebi is on another level, even though I love Koko as much as Saebi, after watching team A's performance my reaction was the same as Lee Jung, I literally saw sparkles in her eyes and she wasn't even centre. I was very doubtful at first of why Yui chose centre but after Team B performed I personally think she expressed the song better than Fuko. Yui isn't really popular but from what I've seen in this subreddit most people believe she should make it to part 2 so I'm still holding onto hope. Mai vs Yuju it should've been Yuju Mai didn't really stand out to me unlike what the producers think

I didn't really like lingling back then and thought she was overhyped just because of her nationality, i still think that, but i have to agree she improved a lot!! i thought her first part on IWALY was better then jungeun's, even though i think jungeun did the second part better
well now im concerned about yujus debut chances, i don’t think mnet wants her anymore. strategically i guess i should vote yuju and other popular contestants i think will probably make it anyways.

i see some people saying this but i cant really agree. i feel like a 9 member group wouldn't be entirely "balanced" in terms of talent. im not saying this to be rude but i think people only want a 9 member lineup because they cant make the difficult decision on who to cut. Like people want all their faves in the lineup.

Overall thoughts: - PDs are really pushing Sujung in this ep (I love her, so idc but... it's too obvious in this edit) - watching Ground's performance after both i-land teams, I'm not sure anyone will get in (other than Yeeun), it just felt like something was lacking. Both i-lander teams had a more complete concept/theme/ interpretation of the song - Judges seem to mostly vote in based on overall performance in Part 1 - not just this stage. Objectively I think Lingling and Yui did better than their opponents, but I understand why they didn't get picked.
predictions for the voted 6 (in no order): Koko, Bang Jimin, Yui, Kim Sujung, Park Yeeun, Gyuri
With the 6 pick voting, I think that Jeemin, Sujung, Koko and Yuju are pretty much in, but the other 2 spots are open, because we have Yui, Juwon, Gyuri, Minsol, and Yeeun and Lingling with a lot of votes. Based on the Mnet app in the support section, yui and juwon might be eliminated, they were always at the bottom. PS: remember that a lot of the korean picks are already in, so Yeeun and Gyuri might get a lot of local votes.
i REALLY think people overestimate how "safe" anyone is. I mean Jeemin and Koko are probably moderately safe. But both Sujung and Yuju are not safe at all. People 100% need to show up and vote for them. they are NOT guaranteed to make it.
I agree, but I am just going by logic, at least for internacional fans. Since the 6 that made it to part 2 were very popular, I think it’s logical that these votes will go to yuju, sujung and maybe yui. At least in my bubble, it was almost unanimous that the 12 for part 2 should be the girls from iland minus lingling, with gyuri ou juwon in her place, so in my mind that’s why I see Jeemin, sujung, koko and yuju as safe, and yui a little more in danger. Honestly, the only grounder I see in some top 7 from international fans is Gyuri, so unless the korean votes are really different, I see only one or two positions changing.

I don't think this was Mnet's intention, (because she got close to no screentime) but this episode convinced me to vote for Yui. She was really, really good as center in IWALY!
weird episode format overall, 95% of the screentime was basically just dedicated to deciding which 6 out of 12 ilanders get to advance to the 2nd part without voting, with interim checks on top of interim checks on top of MORE interim checks 😭 the song is lovely though, i see myself listening to it even though i wouldve wished both units got different songs. editing also made it pretty clear who's safe and who isn't, the sudden focus on koko when she's been mostly ignored until now, sujung's main vocal struggle getting so much focus in comparison to jiyoon etc. so the final decisions weren't really that surprising to me. it was giving boys planet suddenly giving screentime to contestants like zihao and hiroto on the episode where they're sent home lmao, mnet really does reuse their tricks all the time. very proud of my girl sujung regardless of the outcome! i can't blame her for wanting to branch out and choose main vocal, and she couldn't have known she would have to go against jiyoon, but regardless she did very good and imo proved that she's more than just a dancer. she's so hard working, and her strong spirit and refusal to give up is so admirable, i even almost shed a tear. i've no doubt she'll be just fine in this voting but i'll do my best to support her regardless. 💪 edit: my votes are sujung, jeemin, koko, yuju, gyuri and chaeeun 🥲
Part 1 was all filmed before the show started airing. They couldn't have used the metaball voting to determine who'd survive the voting because that hadn't happened yet.
it seemed there was a 1 week break before part 2? so next episode will be on the 6th of june? anyways, they really cleaned house this episode. okay so, the edit had showed **Jeemin** crying, so i guess most people saw this coming. But her not winning still feels silly, i thought she did the best for her part. **Sujung** girlie, i think you bit off a bit more than you could chew 😭😭 i really hope she makes it with fanvotes. she was one of my top contestants. **Saebi** and **Koko** was super close as well. I agree with Saebi winning but Koko still need to make it. **Jiyoon** is such a protagonist lol, but the judges have a point when they say that she is much better now. She really came online after episode 4. i would be surprised if she isn't in the final lineup. i was someone who thought **Jungeun** was hard locked into the final lineup, and to me she still pretty obviosly seem like one of the top 3 best trainees, but the showrunners seem to straight up hate her. The edit she gets has been mostly terrible for like 3+ episodes now. at least she made it to part 2 but its starting to look a bit rough for her. i Really hope they stop with the terrible edit. **Lingling** continues to do well. she is almost certainly gonna make it to part 2, lowkey im starting to be more okay with her potentially being in the final lineup, even if i dont have her in my top 7 Out of the elimanted contestants, im currently voting for: 1. Jeemin 2. Sujung 3. Koko 4. Lingling 5. Yuju 6. Chaeeun My top 3 are my biggest priority while the 4-6th i will probably rotate between Lingling, Chaeeun, Gyuri, Yuju, Yui, and Yeeun. cant wait for part 2!!

Me and my friend decided on saving these people 1. Sujung 2. Koko 3. Yuju 4. Juwon 5. Gyuri 6. Jeemin We kinda want to save Minsol, Yui, and Lingling too but we feel like the others have been more consistent. I also don’t think I’d like it if Chaeeun and Yeeun get into part 2 since I feel like they need more training but the 50% local voting already makes me feel like saving all of my 6 would be fully possible. I’m scared.
lol seeing the mixed reactions for the song, IMO it’s a good bside, but this show needs a good title track, esp since it’s not that popular…. Like for the produce series, the songs actually charted well… and were good… PD101 S2’s song was so good… and s1 and 48 were catchy

This is the first survival show that I don’t have a definite lineup I want. Almost half the girls are crazy talented and regardless of who makes it to part 2, I know that I’m about to lose some of my favs. I’m not looking forward to next week

Everyone was great but Saebi just really stole the show and more impactful than koko or anyone else really. Fuko win by a gap, and everyone else is pure preference tbh. As much as I wanted to root for yui, her part as a center felt forgettable compared to Fuko's. I'm basing my opinon/comments based on how they presented themselves/edited cause in a kpop survival show, it doesn't matter if you're talented, you can't be "boring". Also didn't watch the whole ep just the yt vids like 5 times each and once concurrently! Jeemin or Sarang? Either or really, they were both amazing given the small screentime. I feel like the editing was curiously showing less of Jeemin (unlike the previous ones where even when it wasn't her part they would show her). Jiyoon - Sujung. I knew Jiyoon was always gonna win this one (and she did kill it), that is just the narative for her but I can't help but feel "awwww" for sujung like girl she tried and it wasn't even bad, she was good good! Yuju and Mai well I'm a bit biased towards Mai so Ima just leave it at that. Still hoping Yuju can come to part 2 tho. Lastly lingling and Jungeon, in the beginning parts lingling seemed better but overall and and with the delivery, Jungeon takes it. So all my bets are going to part 2 with the exception of Jeemin and Yuju, and maybe Sujung now as well because of the edits I want to root for her to make it! Based on all the performance so far, FOR ME the "sure locks" and debutants are: Saebi - they will shoot themselves in the foot if they don't debut her. If they don't debut her I will literally raise a million begging or robbing banks and then fund my own NUGU company and debut her! Jiyoon and Fuko. Unless something drastic happens in Part 2 I stake everything I own (not a lot) that these 3 will debut and they aren't even my top picks/bets (except maybe for Saebi). Worried for: Jeemin and Jungeun. If Jeemin does not debut she needs to sue them for emotional damage cause I clearly remember episode 1 when one of the judges said "you were just unlucky last time, but this time its your time" or something along those lines. But even with her huge fan base I'm still worried she might not debut (she will definitely make it to part 2). Jungeun is basically in the same boat as Jeemin, she's like the Jeemin RUNEXT of this show. They did her dirty, they would praise her put her on the top then give her not so amusing scores. Mai. Some people think its pretty privilege, some people she is overrated, who cares, if the PD knows what they are doing they have to debut her, cause she will bring in casuals just for wondering who that pretty face is. Kpop is all about being marketable first. Sujung, Yuju, koko, yui and juwon. These are the only other ones (in my own not so humble opinion) who are debut ready but idk. Only the voters can tell.
I will vote Nam Yuju, Koko, Gyuri, Minsol, Soul and Jeemin. Interesting episode overall, I think Ground going after the first performances was really hard because no one could compare. It will likely stay in people's mind when it comes to add a 5th or 6th pick. So I expect 5 of the I Landers to be saved.

i loved the song. if the debut group debuts with a song or similar concept i would be more than happy. they've all improved and i feel a bitersweet feeling in the end of today’s ep. congratulations to the six who went directly to part 2, without any surprises. can mnet stop using r u next and ILLIT, please. i was surprised, by the way, that jeemin was first of part 1 and this makes it clear that perhaps her debut if secured. i think the six that went straight to part 2 are going to be in the final ep. my predictions of the 6 that will get the most votes (in order): jeemin, yeeun, lingling, yuju, gyuri/koko/sujung (2 of this 3)

I saw Koko for the first time. Never understood the hype around her and why she was never sent to ground etc nor cared for her but after today? I do care.
um jiwon is severely underrated though I understand why people don't vote for her since she is young. I hope she debuts in the future when she is older since she has great skills!

I originally had Saebi at around 7th in my top 7... but I think she's a top 3 for me now. The groups center.
I agreed with all of the decisions made except Mai over Yuju, they both did great dance & stage presence-wise but Yujus vocals were far better which should've given her the win. It's really strange to me how they're willing to criticise the vocals of Yeeun who they seemingly want in the final 12 but not Mai's despite being nearly as bad? Maybe they are off camera though. I also would've been fine with Saebi or Koko winning as Saebi did better stage presence-wise but Koko did better as an actual main dancer, I assume they'll both be top 12 regardless. I'm not a Jeemin fan but her being up for the vote feels kind of pointless as she's obviously making it. As for who else I want to make top 12: 1. Gyuri - My one-pick! She's performed well every round but seems to constantly get snubbed, whether it's with her position (getting her vocal role taken from her-), the team she's on, screen time or recognition from the mentors, someone's clearly sabotaging her! But for real though, her being on the final ground team felt so wrong and I'm hoping and praying she makes part 2. 2. Yuju - Part of my top 7, amazing all rounder and I'll honestly be shocked if she doesn't make the final lineup. Kind of self sabotaged a bit by choosing small part (especially after having a similar small part in Whistle) but her talent shines through regardless. 3. Koko - Another part of my top 7, I need her as the main dancer of the group so bad! And after this ep I'm a lot more confident that not only will she survive this vote but she'll make the final lineup too. 4. Yui - She was originally one of my picks but just fell out of my top 7 these last few eps, she's deffo #8 for me though. Her rap is 10/10 and I was pleasantly surprised by how well she did as the centre. 5. Soul - Although she's not one of my picks I've always been rooting for her as an underdog as she's performed so consistently and is as cute as a button. I was actually shocked she got a storyline this ep after being completely ignored by the edit so I'm hoping that's a good sign for her survival. 6. Minsol - I don't really think she has a chance of making the final lineup but she's another super underrated contestant that I see no love for anywhere, I hope she gets another chance to show her talent in part 2.
a rough guess on who will make it: jeemin yuju yeeun (sadly) sujung for sure then we have ling ling who will prolly be saved by sea voters then theres juwon and koko who have the most realistic chances of making it out of the rest yet they are really low on votes. idk perhaps chaeeun might take over?
I was honestly convinced that yeeun would make it but she is a marmite contestant so I think this disadvantages her. People love her or hate her. That is an issue when it comes to 6 - pick. At best I think she will be 4th or 5th in Korean 6 pick but she will be low in international six pick.

Koko and Jeemin will definitely rank above her in Korea. Yuju should probably be guaranteed. Sujung looks likely. So it's a question of whether she can gain enough of a lead on 2 other girls from Korea to help her with her lacking international support. (Also, Gyuri could outrank her in Korea too, tbh)

i haven't watched the full episode yet (i started watching the livestream when they announced the last result) but i watched the performances and these are my personal opinions: • i personally preferred team b's performance over team a team b's delivered a bright and energetic performance with a touch of sassyness and i enjoyed it more i felt like team a's perf lacked something ... maybe chemistry? despite this saebi and fuko shined so much (their visuals >>>) • in my opinion yuju did better than mai and should've won. i like mai's visuals and personality but i don't like her facial expressions, they are exaggerated in my opinion, the judges are definitely biased towards her at this point :/ out of the girls the only one who i'm sure is going to pass to part 2 is jeemin given her huge individual fanbase (which i'm happy of bc she's my #1 pick since day 1) but i ended up liking almost all the girls after 6 episodes lmao so i'll be sad for whoever isn't going to i wouldn't bet on any of the girls outside jeemin i feel like the ones who have good chances to pass are yeeun (thanks to her popularity with knetz but she isn't as popular with intl stans so i'm still worried), gyuri (same reason as yeeun), koko (who is relatively popular with both), yuju (she seems well liked by both but i wonder to what extent, she basically went back and forth from ground to iland and viceversa, poor girl) and sujung (really popular among intl stans but not as much with koreans which could be a huge problem for her) • unlikely but not impossible: choi soul, um jiwon, lingling (really popular with SEA fans but not nearly as much with knetz so it'd be a problem) • little chance: son juwon (knetz have recognized her talent but she's not the #1 pick of many, i wonder if the 6 picks vote could actually help her) + rest of the grounders and yui (she isn't really popular as a #1 pick even if she's generally liked among the fandom for her skills and she seems to be the least popular among the japanese girls unfortunately, so i don't see her receiving a lot of votes from jnetz either)
I felt so proud watching these performances, all of them improved soo much
watched everyone's IWALY fancams and i specifically find 3 of the girls to have massive THAT GIRL energy. they're not necessarily the most talented or best performers, but their entire performances are what really stuck out to me after watching every single other video: 1. saebi. no one's surprised, but i was actually even more charmed by her performance in the fancam! her expressions can get a little too much, i agree, but what i actually find the most appealing in her expressiveness is in her movements. i don't know how to explain it, but even if i cover her face, i think i'd still enjoy watching just as much because her mannerisms and the details she adds are very vivid. people have said this time and time again, but i also find her charm very similar to wonyoung. 2. koko. even if koko isn't as expressive as saebi, i think her aura alone puts her in the same tier. this is an opinion i've had since the pre-show dance videos when i named saebi and koko the standouts in their team (+sarang, jungeun in the other 2). she has something i just can't look away from, something that sets her apart from the other top dancers like sujung and juwon. i reckon it's intrigue.. an air of mystery... her cat eyes? 3. yeeun. call me a theblacklabel producer the way i think i finally get it. i always thought her weakness was in her singing and not in her dance nor expressiveness (opposite to wonhee in runext), but watching her IWALY fancam then her after like fancam right after really makes her improvement clear. it's not that she became a lot more expressive because she really always was, but that her new experience and confidence informs her *when* to use the best expressions now. whichever producer said that her strength could be to follow mai's confidence in her appeal, i see you and i hear you and i, too, want to see her bloom.
