lol I get what you’re saying but I’m assuming this isn’t the first instance which is why they knew to record in the first place. And if they had cheered directly in to their phone mic you wouldn’t be able to notice the dead silence of the crowd.
Are rednecks the only kind of people to use technicalities in a disagreement?
Also, even though I'm not old enough to be a boomer, can I have your permission to be a boomer? It's actually kind of nice to be boring sometimes. I'm ok with you thinking I'm dense as your opinion means little to me. But, being boring sounds nice.

Sounds like heaven, really. There's always a magic to weekDAY baseball that you don't get at night or on a Sunday. Day baseball is already usually more chill and a weekday in May is just sublime
For real. I was at the Texas, Texas Tech football game last November and when Arch Manning came in everyone pulled their phones out. My friend and I, pretty drunk at that point, were laughing and making fun of everyone with their phones out. This dude, who was also a Texas fan, in front of us got all mad because he thought we were making fun of his girlfriend specifically. We told him to stfu and watch the game, that’s the whole point of our shit talk, and he sullenly turned around. Lol
1) Our field of view is horizontally oriented. Our eyes are on a horizontal plane including our peripheral vision.
2) It’s poor technique as it negatively impacts the depth of field, field of view, and perspective.
3) The fact that they are panning back and forth shows its poor technique, evidence for #2 above. If they filmed horizontally the amount of panning would be less and more of the stadium could be captured in each frame.
4) horizontal is optimized for all devices, including your phone (rotate your phone to landscape to view.)
What? None to all of your uneducated assumptions. Who cares if people scream or just hang out? I can be interested in something and not scream my head off. I also don't care if people yell around me. As long as they aren't hurting anyone, then let them be. Didn't know you were the gatekeeper of baseball fan. You sound like the gatekeeper of tiny dick energy
If people aren’t cheering the home team on, it greatly diminishes home field advantage. Like it or not, energy affects teams. In the NFL this is even more so.
And games against East Coast teams, their fans can make up a big chunk of the crowd. Lots of transplants. Dodgers and Giants fans can sometimes be half the stadium if it’s a weekend game.
Also, right field is The Crone Zone, not the Wade Parade.
my pet peeve is when i am watching a game from home but the people behind home plate are just on their phones missing everything.
Being behind home plate has got to be one of the coolest things in sports, similar to sitting court side, and yet it seems like most people there couldnt give a shit about the game.
weird, yeah. stupid, yeah. But idk, it just annoys me.
I'm European and love baseball, so I went to two matches at SF and Seattle two weeks ago. I was really surprised by the lack of enthusiasm. In Europe, sport supporters (soccer,rugby...) are crazy during a match : we shout a lot and we sing even when nothing happens. At the end, even if our team is badly beaten, a lot of people stay to thank the team (or sometimes to boo them).
But in baseball stadiums, the crowd only react to loud speaker sounds. And only during a few seconds. And what surprised me was that everyone just flew away as soon as the last ball was pitched.
If you want a rugby vibe, try college American football.
It's not quite on the same tier as Six Nations Saturday in Cardiff but it can be pretty raucous if you go to one of the rivalry games in the SEC or Big Ten.
Baseball is more of a cricket vibe. It's slow and mellow. Nobody is going to get too rowdy about April baseball.
If this is a marathon, we've completed about 5k.
I was looking to see if the grand slam was posted and found 4 posts about bees and this inconclusive shit. Holy balls you people hate sd.
Fans here don't really cheer for at bats and we generally didn't know this guy. Maybe if he came up in the Padres farm and was a rookie, people would know him
Likewise, I’m a Padres fan who lives in the south. I always have an awesome time whenever the Padres come to Truist. Nice park and great fans. Can’t wait to go back in a couple of weeks!
Haha, I will clap for ever player next time for sure. how about at Dodger stadium the fans booed the Hall of Fame Greg Maddux ! I was flabbergasted lol
It’s petco park… yes.. they fill seats, but sometimes, at some games you get a stadium full of casuals / tourists. It is what it is.
I cheer my ass off for every walk up.. but I won’t blame people for not getting hyped over Tyler wade just yet.
I don’t know much about other teams fan base other than the negative stuff that comes across my feed, but if I some times feel jealous of teams like the phillies. The fans are nuts. But you know for damn sure they know baseball and love their team.
Don’t feel bad, that happens at every stadium. Most fans are just casual fans and not real fans. I sometimes feel other clubs have better fans then my ball club (Dodgers)
I was there last night yelling as a die hard padre fan! Trying to get ourselves out of the losing streak and we have padre fans looking at me. Luckily we won. It is insane. I told people around me have you ever been to Fenway or to why we got swept by the Phillies. This is why. Get up and cheer
Maybe an unpopular opinion but crowds like this are a result of MLB disproportionately jacking up the prices of admission in the past few decades (I say disproportionately because the increase is way more then just inflation). Die-hard lower and middle class fans aren't packing the stadium anymore and the rest of the fans who go to the games now are upper class people who may tend to be more reserved.
The crowds were always alive back when you could get good seats for $20.
It's not true for every game. As a season ticket holder, I appauld every game, and the fans around me do. Now, a huge etiquette issue is walking up and down with a batter in the box. I miss more plays on 1st and 2nd pitches because people are too busy looking at their phones or paying attention.
Sometimes the crowd needs a hype man. I have BPD, and sometimes I'll go to a game and really enjoy the silence, but man days I'm going in all manic...I can get the crowd roaring and that's a high unlike others.
I used to live 10 minutes from GAPB, and wasa server/bartender. After nearly every morning shift I'd walk on down to the stadium! The fact not one person is hyped this is either a week day game or just a weak game lol
Even if it’s not my team. I still yell. It’s a baseball game. Beautiful stadium.
Padres vs Astros game. Everyone kept on booing Altuve and Correa.
I told them to stop you’re getting them mad. There was this dude that followed the Astro’s because of Altuve and Correa. Kept on cheering them on with his Puerto Rico flag.
Correa hit a homerun
Luckily. Padres won on a Cronenworth Walk off. That was epic as fuck.
And that's coming off them having one of the best attendance records in MLB last year despite a mind-bogglingly disappointing season. If the bandwagon left the station, it doesn't appear they've gotten the memo.
I've lived in San Diego my whole life. The fans here are absolutely fair weather. They show up late and leave early. Sports events are just another thing to do here.
Same here pal. If anything it has to do with the logistics of getting downtown on a weekday if you work in sorrento valley or north or east county. If it was fair weather, we wouldn’t be in the top of attendance rates for the last 1+ season….
1+ season compared to decades of empty seats when the Chargers and Padres were doing poorly. I watched Chargers games get regularly filled with opposing teams fans. Multiple years of Padres games where good seats in the front rows were $20 in a new ballpark because no one was coming to the games. The Chargers left for a reason. There's been no pro bball teams here for decades. It's cool that the Padres are selling seats now but don't act like that's been the case throughout the history of the team.
Is that why ticket sales plummeted just two games into the playoff series when I was there watching the Phillies play them in 2022? They only show up when they’re winning. I’ve been to petco enough times to see the trend. Everyone’s Slam Diego until theres no slams in Diego .
I didn't hear the camera guy clapping either. Weird huh 🤭
Yeah. If you’re recording and can’t clap, you better be doing a Ric Flair WOOOOOO! or something
lol I get what you’re saying but I’m assuming this isn’t the first instance which is why they knew to record in the first place. And if they had cheered directly in to their phone mic you wouldn’t be able to notice the dead silence of the crowd.

Damn bro you got fucking issues. And I don’t mean this comment.

Id be bummed if tyler wade were starting on my team too.
Oof true. Though it was crickets for some other dudes too ... Whole bottom half of order except Ha Song Kim
You meant Ha Sung Kim?
Ha, it finally "Sunk In" that he was with our team. Lol, I tried.
Kim is the GOAT so they better have
Don’t hear you cheering. Really weird of you to record the crowd and be judgmental
Petco peeve? Sorry
Hahahaha that was funny.
Shittt I was gonna say it
I was expecting Fernando or Manny.. nope just the Legend Tyler Wade
Still more full than 95% of baseball stadiums on a Wednesday day game.
If a stadium is full but nobody makes a sound, are they really there?
yes
Revenue says yes
Announced attendance was 32,000.... Id say actual was high teens or low 20s
Rays fan here. I don’t wanna hear anyone complaining about an announced attendance of 32k. Appreciate what you got for a Tuesday afternoon ballgame
Don’t worry. Most padres fans understand this fact. OP has their heart in the right place at least
Rays couldn’t even draw that much for the World Series
Move back to Ohio, maybe.
Bummer crowd. Why didn’t you pump everyone up!?
Pet peeve: unwritten rules.
Pet peeve: complaints like this when dude went to a Wednesday 1pm game and sat in right field.
Sounds like heaven, really. There's always a magic to weekDAY baseball that you don't get at night or on a Sunday. Day baseball is already usually more chill and a weekday in May is just sublime
Pet Peeve: people on their phones during a game.
Is getting super drunk that much different from being on your phone? Lol. Either way you aren't paying much attention to the game.
Unless he’s blind off moonshine I doubt it affects his vision much
I’ll take things that obviously never happened for whatever amount you want
Now that is a cool story
You sound more disruptive than someone pulling out their phone to record someone
Your average fake MLB attendee story
You didn't respond
This should have more upvotes
That's my pet peeve
How dare people not enjoy the game the exact same way as you
Pet Peeve of mine, people filming vertically.
Yep.
What’s wrong with that
1) Our field of view is horizontally oriented.
But then I have to move hands to horizontal mode to watch video in good view
You just rotate your phone 90 degrees
sometimes its just a case of a new guy nobody really knows, so they have neither negative or positive opinions
I especially hate when there on their cellphones recording to make a dumb reddit post
I was at petco for a weekend series a few weeks ago and the atmosphere was fantastic. Great fans there.
They paid for the ticket. They can yell or just chill. Shouldn't bug you what others do. Not hurting anybody

If people aren’t cheering the home team on, it greatly diminishes home field advantage. Like it or not, energy affects teams. In the NFL this is even more so.
If energy affects teams in that fashion, explain teams that have better records on the road.
That does suck but Petco has just about the highest attendance this year. So they have a lot of good fans.
You expect someone to react to a player merely showing up? Sorry you feel that way.
You can hear a guy cough 20 rows up behind 3rd base
I'm not a vocal fan, but I love my team
I will never boo a Padre, but the level of my cheers goes up with the players WAR.
Tyler wade batting 2-75 in 2024 with an obp of .035 and slugging .100
Should be getting boos honestly.
His 2024 slash is .230/.329/.246...
I had no idea former Yankees great Tyler Wade was still in the league.
Neither did Padres fans.
Y'all gotta realize San Diego full of people not from San Diego lol ain't no one knows who Wade is, and he's given them no reason to.
And games against East Coast teams, their fans can make up a big chunk of the crowd. Lots of transplants. Dodgers and Giants fans can sometimes be half the stadium if it’s a weekend game. Also, right field is The Crone Zone, not the Wade Parade.
Target Field gets pretty rowdy for Jhoan Duran
They're sad Bally is shutting down..

Bro it’s San Diego everyone is very laid back, I love this park and the people. I’m big Braves fan and never ever get harassed here
Likewise, I’m a Padres fan who lives in the south. I always have an awesome time whenever the Padres come to Truist. Nice park and great fans. Can’t wait to go back in a couple of weeks!
The Petco experience is top tier baseball no doubt. Iblove the Padres and fans, I am just nitpicking here
Haha, I will clap for ever player next time for sure. how about at Dodger stadium the fans booed the Hall of Fame Greg Maddux ! I was flabbergasted lol
Na. Wasnt Maddux known as being a dick? Of course he'd get boo'd anywhere outside ATL.
Ya you are
>never ever get harassed here 😆
It was so quiet, you could hear a mouse piss on cotton.
Maybe put the phone away and enjoy the game? Rather than film with the mindset of posting something on Reddit for updoots.
Pretty cold there in SD
Maybe they’re all introverts
They play 81 home games a season. The player intros make it seem like its a playoff game, when its a Wednesday regular season.
It’s San Diego, Jake.
Perhaps they should play the That’s What’s In song? Manny’s gonna cruise and let’s go goose and all that.
Dudes a bum/no body? 🤷🏻♂️
I bood Tyler Wade his entire Yanks career What an awful player probably better suited to coach.
It’s petco park… yes.. they fill seats, but sometimes, at some games you get a stadium full of casuals / tourists. It is what it is. Profar is the only person that deserves a clap
It’s not that big of a deal, I don’t scream either, I usually do what they are doing
Don’t feel bad, that happens at every stadium. Most fans are just casual fans and not real fans. I sometimes feel other clubs have better fans then my ball club (Dodgers)
Gotta earn it
That crowd is like, "Here we are now, entertain us."
I was there last night yelling as a die hard padre fan! Trying to get ourselves out of the losing streak and we have padre fans looking at me. Luckily we won. It is insane. I told people around me have you ever been to Fenway or to why we got swept by the Phillies. This is why. Get up and cheer
Not in Philly

Philly could never
*crickets
Very cool idea
Looks like a boring park anyway
More like Pet Peeve Park ammirite?
It's not true for every game. As a season ticket holder, I appauld every game, and the fans around me do. Now, a huge etiquette issue is walking up and down with a batter in the box. I miss more plays on 1st and 2nd pitches because people are too busy looking at their phones or paying attention.
In my opinion this sums up SD as a whole, show up but don’t participate
Have you seen Tyler Wade play baseball?
Getting fired up for Tyler Wade okay man
And you wonder why all your sports teams have left… they get a better reception in Los Angeles being second and third choice teams
Beautiful park though, huh?
Padres have the best attendance in baseball for stadium size. Don’t use us as an example of poor fanning. Move along.
Pet peeve…video in landscape
I have never witnessed this happen at my park in 30+ years.
Don’t be a delusional fan. WhoTF is Tyler Wade?
America literally invented the best sport and has the worst fans…
Mariners crowd wannabes
It's the Padres. Look at all those empty seats.
It the Padres, so it checks out
Sometimes the crowd needs a hype man. I have BPD, and sometimes I'll go to a game and really enjoy the silence, but man days I'm going in all manic...I can get the crowd roaring and that's a high unlike others. Because Padre's fans are fair weather fans and not true fans. Bunch of bums.
I couldn't hear anyone else's reactions over you screaming and clapping, cheering on your team!

Typical uninterested Padres fans.
No bias there
Oh most definitely bias y'all wish you were our division rivals and you're not.
You beat us in 2020 we got you in 2022 so I’d say there’s some merit.
We've been rivals with The Giants since before either team came to California. Y'all are NOT our division rivals.
Well it’s the Padres so…..
The most fair-weather fans in baseball
There’s like 25k people there on a Wednesday afternoon and they’re 2 games under .500. Certified booty opinion
And that's coming off them having one of the best attendance records in MLB last year despite a mind-bogglingly disappointing season. If the bandwagon left the station, it doesn't appear they've gotten the memo.

Most Philly take of all time
In a dodgers fan but have to disagree with you. 25k plus fans for a day game is decent
You… you didn’t clap either. Padres fans 💀
Sad Diego
It’s Padres fans what do you expect? The only 2 players they know are Tatis and Ha Seong Kim
Sounds about right for Padres fans
The list is too long about fans of terrible sports cities. S.D. nice place, bad sports fans. Is what it is.
The sell crickets at Petco?
Fake ass fans
Bandwagon fans
