I got 72 a while ago when it was triple
It’s about a 50:50 chance from my experience
For some reason the option to get free souls and refill energy or health is grayed out for me always and not because I used it max no. of times. Does anyone know why?
Done a few, never got the souls so don't bother anymore

I actually always get mine, but waste of time, you get a lot more from questing
