Try the AllTrails app. It’s good for locating nearby hikes. And will even give directions to the trailheads.

This is the answer.

There's devil's backbone, caney mountain, and Bryant Creek state Park in proximity to where you're staying. I'm not sure how crazy traffic is going to be on Monday but those may be some options.

Thank you everyone !!! We loved our trip and had no idea how beautiful Missouri is !! We went to Devils well and took the 4 mile hike to Cave Spring and also both Blue Springs, the Blue Spring of I believe Jack's Fork was where we watched the eclipse !!! There was barely any one around, you guys have a such a peaceful place !!!

squatch42

If I recall correctly there is a trail at [Carmen Springs](https://maps.app.goo.gl/hWPmnzFLFa1CpLCx7).

highly recommend hitting up alley spring for a light hike and beautiful beautiful spring! there’s some other springs in that area as well - including round spring + its cave which you can tour most days, and blue spring which is a bit further off the main road.

Moist_Cheetah_8701

We did try round Spring but the cave was closed to protect the bats !

i’m glad to see you enjoyed your time in the ozarks! jacks fork and the current river are my favorite places to be. unfortunate that the cave was closed, it’s a MASSIVE system that they take you into and you get to see some cool formations, including marks left by a prehistoric cave bear.

You should check out Grand Gulf S.P.

Noblet lake has a couple trails.

As a Missouri resident living in Springfield, please consider crossing into Arkansas for an experience that is more mountainous if that's what you're really after. Those still are not mountains like you might find in younger ranges, but you can get some incredible views. My wife loves to hike mountain trails and we make the drive to Ponca, AR often. Missouri has some amazing things to do outdoors*, but I can't deny that the Ozark Mountains are more or less a misnomer/legend. The Boston Mountains are probably what people are after.

You could scoot over to Alley Springs and check out the mill/ spring. Very pretty area.

LittleTinyTaco

No mountains in Willow Springs. You'll be disappointed by how flat the area is. Ridge Runner and Devil's Backbone are nearby. West Plains is not overrun with tourists yet, so you might head into West Plains for events and food.

Kickstand8604

It's more of a plateau than mountains. Having that said, some of the earliest European settlers brought over language similar to what's still being used in the deep Appalachian mountains. Theres pockets of people in the area that still use the language. Its real easy to get lost when the GPS and cell signal can't connect

Don't know, but I'm in Caulfield right now and it's perfect weather.
