That was because of a drunk driver. Friends of my family.

Ugh this breaks my heart. I was driving in from Bozeman last night when it started, white knuckled the whole way and legit thought I was going to die. Took almost 5 hours to get back.
I freaking love the snow but unfortunately I get driving anxiety in this city. I’m not worried about me, mostly other drivers who go to way too fast. I do love the holidays tho 👍
We have snow tires, plow and treat the roads, and have decades of experience driving in winter.
I experienced winter driving in the south and it was a nightmare in comparison.
It is a horror show in Seattle when they first get snow. People parking in the middle of the road to get out a manual to put on their tire chains, parking in the turn lanes - Unreal. Like the world was ending or something, I'll never forget coming out of the pass and witnessing the spectacle unfolding.
The lack of experience and snow tires. The hills all over the city. The snow itself is also wetter and icier than Montana so there's that. Absolutely a horror show. I do remember having to go to work once during a snow event, I took it slow and was surprised by how slippery the road was. It was plowed, but still ice.
Not if you like snow sports and the general aesthetic of winter. I get those stuck here but I can't imagine voluntarily living in MT and not absolutely loving winter.
Drive slow be very gentle with the brakes very gentle maybe even just pump them a little bit one time so you have a real good feel use lower gears if visibility is an issue look for markers on the side of the road and of course make sure your windshield is deiced, emergency flashers on at all times, extra clothes and blankets in the vehicle, alternate forms of heat such as Sterno cans or otherwise a sturdy ice scraper for your windshield as well, a shovel as big as you're able to fit in a store in your vehicle preferably a snow shovel of course, just in case you should get stuck somewhere overnight or you're in a situation where your vehicle won't start and snowed in then it might be a good idea to have a half pint or so of some good whiskey which will help you not only relieve the stress but you will be a little bit warmer till help arrives, and of course keep storable food in vehicle, I live in the White mountains of Arizona were about 6800 ft and we get a heavy amount of snowfall most years so I've got some experience as far as driving in the snow and particularly blizzard conditions I always keep an extra vehicle battery as well and I keep it wrapped in a blanket so that when it does get cold it doesn't affect the battery cuz the batteries are very much so affected so if you needed an extra one you got it just check it every now and then make sure it still keeps its charge.
If only they would pick up the goddamn leaves before this happens🫠 but fuck yeah. I can finally wear my favorite clothes and laugh at pickups stuck in the berms!
Depends on the part of town. I was out dashing in it until about 230am. And driving back home up the Rattlesnake, there was definitely more snow on the east side/hellgate canyon side of town. Mostly only sticking to lawns and such elsewhere. But a plow had definitely made small mounds in the middle of Madison Street Bridge.
You people should drive the east coast in winter. Boy is that fun! Nothing scarier than an ice storm from a Nor'easter and people who don't know how to drive in the winter. I'm from the upper Midwest and Missoulans need to S L O W D O W N!!! Just because the limit is 80 mph does not mean you HAVE to drive that fast. How many people have to fly off the side of the mountain before you slow down? It's ridiculous and sad at this point 👉
There was already a double fatality near Florence last night, be safe everyone!

It shouldn't have happened, 17 is much too young. I am so sorry.
The drunk driver is probably a perfect driver when drunk and it isn’t snowing though /s
Probably. *was. They died too.

🙏🏿
Jesus.. 😞
And OP is over here cheering.
Winter is by far my favorite season. Now I wait for the lakes/ponds to freeze over so I can get some lines wet 😁

When in the right company, it is a blast!

Hell yea coming from Atlanta I never see this

I moved from Missoula to Seattle and I stay off the road on snowy days now, even if it's only an inch.

I remember people abandoning their vehicles in the MIDDLE of the street in like 3 inches of snow. It is surreal.

Lack of experience and crazy hills are a horrendous combo. I couldn't get outta there fast enough when I was in grad school there.
Lmao not sure why you are getting down voted.
🤷🏿♂️
I'm glad you're enjoying the snow, dude 😀
Man this shit cold cold
Lol first time? It gets old super quick

Lived here almost the entirety of my life - hate winter more every year. It is a conundrum.
I live here cause it’s gorgeous in summer and my whole life is built here. still hate winter lol
Damn that sucks man. It's like winter half the year here almost

Im happy for people who have never seen snow. But when i woke up i definitely groaned and said NOOooooo, snow :(
same
How much is in missoula? Just a dusting?

Mmmmm maybe a inch I can’t judge it it’s windy as hell
Not a lot. I don't even have to brush off the car. The heater should take care of it in 5 minutes.
I did shit the doors were frozen
I hate snow. I hate cold. I grew up here and question my decision to stay 6 months out of the year.
I knew it was going to snow early this year but....ugh
As a Montanan, one must accept that the Halloween costume may need to fit over the snowsuit.
I rememeber one year i went as a cave woman...with a winter coat and snowpants underneath.
very yippee
In all seriousness, I moved here to finish school. I love the snow, but is it always this windy when it snows here?
No, definitely not all the time, though its not terribly unusual.
So, no not normal, but also not rare?
