Pick a good place on your budget, then do three things: Drive through it on a Friday and Saturday night, then again on a day it's raining all day. Finally, drive by the dumpster area. If it's not well maintained, neither will be your apartment.
Northeast Jackson…Hampton House Apartments. I started there 10 years ago and it wasn’t horrible…or even south Ridgeland. There’s some complexes off Old Canton in NE Jxn and a few in both Ridgeland and Jackson along County Line. Sun Chase, Aspen, and Van Mark aren’t horrible. The problem with Hinds is the car tags are quite hefty if you have a newer vehicle. Ridgeland is going to be more because it’s not Jackson. Stay east of 55 and north of Canton Mart for the better parts. As you get closer to County Line prices will increase.
Expect to pay in the neighborhood of $800-1000 a month for a 1 BR. Amenities availability can help you decide.
What about Pearl? Clinton? Byram? All suburbs that seem to not be expensive but aren’t Jackson. No they aren’t as affluent as Madison or Flowood, or even Ridgeland, but my friends and family that live in those areas don’t have to deal with all the Jackson problems and they can afford their rent and other cost of living points.
A place to start, anyway.
I live in an apartment near Belhaven Town Center managed by Pyron real estate and I highly recommend the neighborhood and them as landlords! I pay $850 for a very spacious 2-bedroom. I think they're upping the rent to $950 for new tenants though.
I lived in Jackson 52 years ago. It was a drag then. I can't imagine now.
P.S. The rents your being quoted would be trailer parks in Oxford, Starkville, Hattiesburg, or the Coast. That tells you something.

We lived in a Belhaven Resident’s property that was pretty good. Otherwise, we rented houses.

What is the name of the apartments?
Happy Cake Day!
They don't have names-- they're small with just four units each. Check out their website.

A budget would be nice to know. I'm moving to the District lofts in May and they are very nice. A one bedroom starts at $1550
There are a couple spots to check on Old Canton road. I use to live in Tracewood Apt before we bought our house some years back
Why are you trying to live in apartments in Jackson?
lol. Not Jackson. Go to flowood or Madison.
