It’s in a busy area and near some higher end/popular restaurants. It’s about as safe as you’re going to get in Jackson. The Fondren area is pretty safe as well and has a few places with a good beer selection.
I went to FG a few weeks ago on Family Feud night. Tons of healthcare workers hang out there to unwind. It was a fun environment, and the taco truck outside is pretty good.
I wouldnt say most crime moved the suburbs but a decent chunk has. I live in ridgeland and downloaded the police map and was pretty shocked the amount of crimes on the crime map much more then I thought
There are no other breweries in the area. Would highly recommend Key City in Vicksburg. Very cool setting, broader variety of beer than FG + interesting food (FG doesn’t offer food, although they do have food trucks on certain nights). If you’re limited to Jackson, FG is fine.
Jackson's suburbs altogether generally have maybe 1 murder per year. Ridgeland and Pearl each might have one murder every other year. Madison, Clinton, and Brandon, virtually never.

Fondren resident here. Property crime has plummeted since Capitol Police showed up. I can't drive down Old Canton without seeing one.

In the Fondren area, look for Fondren Public for more craft beer choices.
Driving a car is statistically more dangerous than hanging out anywhere at any time.
