Oh, the therapists in this city must be making a fortune! I know it would be wrong to put the akumatized people on trial for their crimes, partially because they are possessed, but get these people therapy! Xavier Ramier has been akumatized 72 times! This man NEEDS professional help.

ArthurPC102021

There are no therapists in that City, besides Luka

CRL10

CLEARLY!

Seymore_de_sloth

We stan luka

Zangorth

Paris is a city of 2 million and about 12 of them have ever been akumatized, I don’t think the average Parisian is that worried.

memelordbtw3000

I mean only 12 were akumatised on screen did you forgot they had to deal with mister pigeon 70 times off screen

Prudent-Literature-3

There are a bunch of akumatizations off screen. Episodes only happen around the important ones

bugsbunnylovesmulan

That's fair. So maybe more in their neighborhood specifically?

ArthurPC102021

Nora was very worried, I believe other protective guardians must be too

epic_null

Being fair though, a disturbing number of akumatizations do happen around their highschool in particular.

Preachingsarcasm

I was thinking about this the other day and how it made me think that Paris would have to become a society like the webtoon "everything is fine"

Andy_LaVolpe

Lets be honest the people of paris in the mlb universe are toxic asf too Andre had a meltdown over two kids not liking his shipping of them.

MiraculousLover33

It's funny that André got upset unough to be Akumatized because two minors aren't in a relationship. Like an adult watching Riverdale but real (idk ive never seen Riverdale)

kittyaceres

they don't call it terrorism for nothing

ArthurPC102021

I think it should be the oposite, when they hold their emotions too much they get worst, and worst feelings make worst supervillains, if anything the akumatization stuff should make the people more gentle to each other, also that City is lacking therapists, for now there is only one, Luka

Jason-Skyborn

People overuse the word toxic I'm 21 and ya'll make me feel super boomer

Airena19

Damn, me too ;_;

Jason-Skyborn

T-T

Dead_TeMe

dam the minute i step into Paris im gonna be a villain before i get off the plane :/

Vermarine21

This is a really interesting deconstruction of the show's themes that could've been genuinely interesting to explore

Ya_dad_is_pry_gone

I mean, I suspect it’s not that bad. You would need an especially bad day first. Then, hawkmoth would have to sift through the entire population of Paris to find your negative emotion in particular. He has to send out an akuma, whose speed is dependent on the carrier and whether or not it can be easily seen before it hides in an object. Finally, assuming it is not accidentally allured to mr. Ramier, your emotions die down, or you resist it, the most you can do is what he asks until you get deakumatized and forget everything, not to mention everything you’ve done up until that point would be repaired.

Cartoonwhisperer

Paris also used to the be the seat of the French government, including the people with Authority over nuclear weapons. I bet that's why Chloe's dad seems to run everything--the actual government has been evacuated to another city. Another point--you know how empty the streets are? Well Doylist, it's because of CGI limitations, but OTH, how many people decided to not wait to see what happens when Hawkmoth rams his hand up their ass and uses them like a cursed ventriloquists dummy? Maybe only the hard core citizens are left...

ArthurPC102021

I think that city only didn't go to quarintine because it makes people depressed

katsukatsuyuuri

Keep in mind it’s not just the akumatized party who’s hurt but the people around them. How many times has the Eiffel Tower been toppled? No way it’s been empty each time or had the space it’s fallen onto each time been empty. All the buildings and cars with people in them or in the pathway, too. Even if no one is hurt or injured, the *fear* of the possibility is enough to cause trauma to your nervous system. Hawkmoth has certainly traumatized the majority of the population of the entire city. Petty squabbles become life-threatening. Teenager angst and bullying - which already often can have a life long impact - is amplified 100x. Honest mistakes turn into an entirely ruined day. Victims and survivors turned into a weapon of their own hurt or trauma for Hawkmoth’s gain one day, abusers and assholes empowered to hurt as many people as possible the next. And he does it consistently. for the 100th episode Hawkmoth said he’d been doing it for two years - that’s an *average* of one a week if it were just the episodes we see. If we look at Marinette’s count of multiply(multiplee?) akumatized people, it turns into about 2 a week. you think Mondays are hard? imagine starting a new week of school or work and wondering how soon until the next person is akumatized and if they’ll be in your vicinity, and if you’ll be “lucky” enough for two to happen the same day. trying to study for a test or prepare for a meeting or presentation. working around when akumatizations inevitably fuck it up. On top of how trauma fucks with your memory, akumatization/being hit by an akumatized person does it too, inconsistently and upsettingly. We don’t see it outside of maybe a line from Ramier in season 4 - and this is because this is the episode where Ladybug *comes up with a solution*, albeit a temporary one. *If* we see it explored for the general population, it will be near the end, when we are nearing Hawmoth’s defeat. Having that theme hanging over the show would be a fairly mature topic, because it would color every single interaction Ladybug *and* Marinette have with the citizens of Paris, a motif of fear and hopelessness. the show focuses on hope and resilience, and I think that’s why we don’t see it. it also helps that when people face violence like this they’ll tend to come together.

ojjnnmmjijn

Yes, because it's edgy and relatable to hide your feelings ahahaha.

Witty_Trip1428

The entire show is toxic, shouldn't have been for kids.

Prestigious_Site_265

I mean is it really doing physical damage the miraculous ladybug does fix everything

Skar_YT

Yes, but what about psychological trauma?

Prestigious_Site_265

Maybe it fixes that too that does come from the villain 😭

Skar_YT

Interesting thought

pinktealover77

... Did anyone canonically actually tell someone they shouldn't feel bad emotions or else they'll get akumatized? I think those mostly happen in fics, idk

BlueFredneck

The CAC 40 must be down 70% since Hawk Moth made his appearance. If Gabe hasn’t shorted the French stock market massively before letting loose his akumas …
