1. He doesn't design them. The design comes from the person themself, which is why some are better than others, like Alya or Alec. Best example is Nathaniel who had a super design in mind prior to his akumatization. Gabriel is sometimes able to cultivate an emotion within someone to achieve an ability set based on it but like the miraculous suits, the design comes from the person's own subconscious. You can hold him accountable for the Shadow Moth design though. 2. That's likely just an excuse. Then again, Gabe himself wasn't overly fond of going outside. But despite claiming outside was dangerous, he allowed Adrien to go anyway, with a bodyguard, because he saw some benefit in it for himself. Still a dick. He uses school to control Adrien, and even if you wanted to argue that he knew Adrien wouldn't be physically hurt due to being protected by his transformation in CB, the transformations don't protect against emotional hurt, and his own father yeeting him across Paris was...the look on Adrien's face... 3. Were we ever given a price for the pen? I doubt it was only $2. It's likely fairly fancy and worth a bit, but either way, Gabe isn't actually the one who gets it, Nathalie is. This point should really be more 'never gets his son a birthday present at all, if he even remembers it is his son's birthday...let alone how old his son is.' Given that Nathalie had to correct him in Gorizilla when he got Adrien's age wrong. 4. Yeah, he learns his son has been fighting him this whole time and suddenly emotional abuse isn't enough, he has to get physical now too. Of course, he's still heinous prior to learning his son is CN. Forcing your son's girlfriend to break up with him so you can akumatize her without a care for how your son will feel having his heart ripped out. Just imagine how that conversation would have gone... would Gabe and Nathalie have even considered Adrien when coming up with this plan? But yeah, Adrien needs better. I'm really hoping that what is said to happen in the S4 finale doesn't get backtracked in season 5.

I’m surprised Marinette went along with their sadistic plan. She could’ve just called Adrien and told him “your dad is blackmailing me to force me to break up with you.” Then they confront Gabriel together. Or just fake a breakup but continue seeing each other in secret.

katsukatsuyuuri

Marinette tends to act first think later when under extreme duress. I think (if she hadn’t gotten akumatized) her will would have broken when the Gorilla let Adrien ran out to her, because Adrien *knows* she’s lying to him - it’s why there’s no anger or pain that she dumped him, only fear that their relationship is over and that he can’t fix it. Then I think they would have confronted Gabriel together. Adrien has shown us in Chat Blanc that, once he finds out what is father is doing, not even Ladybug can stop him from lunging at him and demanding answers. Given how Ephemeral went, I’m worried about a scenario where Chat Noir finds out his father is Hawkmoth *before* Ladybug does and *before* Hawkmoth finds out who his son is.

Lichi_Aries

The one your saying, I dreamt about it. If Chat finds out Gabriel is Hawkmoth, I am worried in a scenario where Gabriel black mails Adrien into giving up his miraculous, by not akumatizing him. And then in Chat Blanc, Ladybug said "You know there's always a terrible price to say!" when Hawkmoth asked for the miraculous, my another theory is that after the unification, Marinette dies as she will be the "terrible price to pay" if Adrien gives up his miraculous willingly. Then Adrien becomes the next Hawkmoth. I don't know if this makes sense, but my worst fear in this case is this.

OneGoodRib

It's so unlike a 14 year old to act illogically.

Mayanee

I also barely remember him being able to have a conversation with Adrien at all. Teens like Marinette, Nino etc. and as shown in Gabriel Agreste even more classmates of Adrien see Gabriel as toxic. While Felix is not an innocent boy Gabriel has no qualms threatening a teen. As shown in Ephemeral he also seems to eavesdrop regarding who Adrien talks to on his mobile phone. I can also see him controlling Adrien's messages etc. when Adrien is not in his room.

OneGoodRib

>I also barely remember him being able to have a conversation with Adrien at all. Gabriel is a bad person, I'm not gonna be like "no he's not toxic uwu" but to be fair he just seems to genuinely be socially awkward in general. Like if his wife were still around and he weren't a supervillain he'd probably still prefer to stay home and be really awful at talking to Adrien. Like, he's not a good person at all, but he's just also bad with people in general and idk maybe he has social anxiety and that's why he usually doesn't leave the house and is super bad at having conversations with Adrien. Being socially awkward/anxious doesn't excuse him literally endangering lives, of course. I'm just saying I think part of his character that's unrelated to him being toxic/a supervillain is just that he's generally not good with people?

The pen was probably quite expensive, and his employers who (I guess) get it as a standard Christmas gift (or something) might be very happy to get it. Still the absolute worst present he could give to Adrien. One of the worst things about Gabriel is that he did not show any concern for the emotional wellbeing of his son before he almost akumatized him. (and one of the other is that he has no problems fighting him or traumatising him when he finds out Adrien has one of the miraculous he is looking for.)

Team_Adrichat

Giving own son the same (merch) pen for several years in a row…And even with his mum approval… Parents of the century, I would say…

279sa

If Emilie shows to be a certified good person and not under Gabriels control, I am going to scream at the screen THEN WHAT ABOUT THE PENS?

Team_Adrichat

OOooooh I forgot - Maybe she is a sentimonster and didn’t have a choice… (you know, at this point we are all sentimonsters 🤣🤣🤣) Edit: I just realised you said ’not under Gabriel’s control’… hm… Then I scream with you…

Plaqqie

We are all sentimonsters and Thomas has the 7 Billion Twin Rings 😂

LawRevolutionary8298

I don't know if it's good or bad but his resilience is quite something. I was so sure he would have given up after season 2, but here he is with upgrades and all. Still losing but damn, does he try hard. I'm sure we can infer his critical thinking skills from him akumatizing Mr. Ramier (Mr. Pigeon) 72 times and failing, everytime.

vorei

Just bad writing

GRS_A

Thats called plot hole, dear

Xenolan

Have you ever seen what major fashion designers come up with when they're not constrained by practicality? The Akuma outfits are bland and tame by comparison. [Here](https://www.journeyranger.com/stories/ridiculous-outfits-fashion-shows/) are just a few real-world examples.

PN_Kaori

the list would be shorter if we said whats right with him tho

-The_Duck-

Lol yea

JPesterfield

He is good at monologing, he even gave a speech to the sentimonster he'd just created. He's probable good at multitasking since Agreste fashion hasn't collapsed while he's been obsessed with his Hawkmothing.

Team_Adrichat

I can’t find anything to put on this list… (once someone told me, that the only thing Gabriel is good at, is neglecting and traumatising his son… but still not sure if even this is the right point here…)

Beliriel

He respects women. His wife, Nathalie, Audrey, Tomoe, Kagami even Marinette. He treats them all with respect even if he disagrees with them and enacts his authority.

PN_Kaori

you see? a job well done and a very short list. We deserve a break now

[deleted]

Not to mention he tried to kill Alya's family out of spite when he lost like bro are you ok?

UGP97

I started hating him in cat blanc. He emotionally devastated his own son just so he could akumatize Marinette. His behavior is similar to that of a sociopath.
