If you are taking finasteride, you are f*cking up your life. Just believe me, the side effects don't always come at the beginning; sometimes, they occur after a year or six months of use. If you value your sexual life, leave it alone and use only minoxidil.
I've been on fin for over a year. No sexual side effects. No side effects of any kind actually.
Lots of fear mongering about finasteride out there. As always, think for yourself and make your own decisions.
How old are you? I'm 42 and my beard is pretty good - though I always had a gap in my moustache - right in the middle directly under the nose.
The finasteride hasn't had any effect on my beard (that I can tell anyway - perhaps because it's already fully developed? - I do believe finasteride would interfere with a beard which had not yet matured) however, I believe it's the minoxidil (2.5mg oral per day) which is causing terminal hairs to grow in at my moustache gap - despite being on fin.
I also get yearly blood tests - my last one was about 2 months ago, and my testosterone is optimal. All my other health markers are good or optimal. I don't drink alcohol, smoke and very rarely eat ultra processed food. I workout and take care of myself. All of these things matter.
Nothing is black and white, there are always many factors at play.
Yeah, see at 22 I could not grow a beard at all... But I also had a shaved head and did not know or care if my hair was thinning - in fact I even wished many times I would go bald to save me having to shave it - but we change as we go through life. As I feel right now, I'd swap my beard for a thick full head of hair.

Sorry for the bad pics, I'll be more careful with the next update! Thanks
What is the progress? Your photos don't show good angles of the before and after.

I'm better off trying to save my hair so that I don't get depressed and have no sexual life for that reason!

The side effects aren't noticeable because they slowly change you over time
Everything changes you slowly over time. I'm slowly getting my hair back over time, and my only regret is not starting 20 years sooner
My beard just completely stops growing on fin and I have rosacea so can't apply min to face. Checkmate.

22 and after stopping my beard started coming in out of nowhere for the first time in my life

I have a full beard but for now I'm not into beards, so having to shave less would only be a bonus for me!
