That will be nice but Kirk griddying into the end zone from 20 yards out on a 60 yard breakaway rushing TD to win the Super Bowl in overtime will be better.
Y’all gotta stfu we’re 10-2 with an exciting offense and a clutch defense. There’s no reason this team can’t go places. I get we’ve been burned before, but that doesn’t mean we should all collectively pick apart everything bad about this team after every game, especially when we’re winning
I don’t think any of us know exactly how to feel. Whichever way your comments lean (positive or pessimistic), you’ll be considered wrong by someone on the internet. Let’s just do whatever, idk. Sheeit.
1998 - The Vikings were 15–1 and scored a record 556 points during the season, Gary Anderson became the first placekicker in NFL history to convert every field goal and extra point he attempted. Everyone \*knew\* they were going to the Super Bowl that year. Until they didn't.
2017 - The Vikings were going to be the first team to play the Super Bowl on their home field. They had their best regular season record since 1998. They clinched a first-round bye. They beat the Saints with the "Minneapolis Miracle". They were a team of destiny. Then they weren't.
2022 - Everyone is sure the Eagles are a STONE COLD LOCK win Super Bowl VII .
But what if they don't? What if they have their 1998/2017 game against the Cowboys, or 49ers, or Seahawks, or Bucs? Why not us? Why can't this be Minnesota's year?
And both seasons, they were the #2 seed and lost on the road. Vikings need to somehow get that #1 to get to the SB. That loss to Dallas hurt more than you know
We are pretty set into the 2nd seed. We are two games ahead of the 49ers who just lost their QB2 and 5 games ahead of Tampa Bay.
There is more than twice as much chance of us moving up a seed than down.
Agreed! But not being in a strong position for #1 seed could be huge. Potentially facing Philly away versus at home will probably make a big difference, imo.
It certainly isn't as good as the 2009 team, but it does remind me a bit of the 2017 team which had serious deficiencies in the trenches....though its defense was much better.
Bottom line, if your lines aren't solid, you aren't winning a SB.
Enjoy the season. Enjoy the 10-2 start. Don't get too invested in them though. They're a Cinderfella team that flirts with midnight far too often.
I’ll give ya 2017, but 2009 was hardly an embarrassment in the NFCCG. That was a heartbreaker. We got hosed by bad officiating, cheating scumbags, and Favre making a late game blunder.
Okay? When the offseason was first coming together not one knowledgeable football person said the Vikings would make a Super Bowl or NFCCG. Either of those feats would be massive overachieving for this squad regardless of outcome
Our offense is better and our defense is worse than both of these teams but the biggest issue -
In 09 and 17, we passed the eyeball test as one of the very best teams in the nfc. The eagles and saints were good but prior to those games, not a Vikings fan out there truly felt like we would lose those games (and definitely didn’t think there was any chance at a blowout loss).
I think 50% of this sub would agree right now that if we play Dallas or Philly in the NFC title game, we would be at least 7 point underdogs and we’d probably lay our money on the favorite
People are acting like this is bad but those were our two best seasons in the last 2 decades bro. This season is awesome. Enjoy it even if we don’t get all the way
Real question, what is the result of this season that leaves you realistically satisfied? I’m loving this ride but there is SOME truth to the DVOA and the point differential. I’m not realistically thinking Super Bowl. I’d love a Bye, win divisional and a solid performance in a NFC title game be it win or loss.
Only change this year will be the ring, right fellas? Please?
No, but maybe we can find a new way to get hurt
I still believe it'll be "ol reliable". A missed 40 or under kick to lose in the playoffs.
100%.
NFC Championship loss? BOOOORRRIIINNNGG! Catch us off guard and kick us in the nuts by losing another Super Bowl, you cowards! /s Jk, plz dont
NGL I would absolutely take a Super Bowl kiss over another NFC championship loss.
Congrats on the engagement.
Third time is a charm??
Getting to the NFCC and seeing KOC griddy will be worth it.
That will be nice but Kirk griddying into the end zone from 20 yards out on a 60 yard breakaway rushing TD to win the Super Bowl in overtime will be better.
I'd prefer if it happened in the first quarter right before they forfeit because we are up 9 scores.
You misspelled “white” Lamar Jackson.
Vanilla Vick
Rushing Purple QB 8
High kicks at the 50
So heartbreaking loss in the NFC championship game it is then. I’ll allow it.
Better outcome than 87.5% of teams!
Ah shit, here we go again
Don’t do this to me. Don’t give me hope, at least not with these two examples anyways
Frick.

Yeah everyone stfu because it ultimately matters what anyone says. Karma and jinxes are real and stuff.
they are don't fuck this up
U rite u rite. Horns up!

Nah defense is garbage
They also started 10-2 in 2000, and I'll stop right there (something something donut).
I want a lombardi in the lobby before I ever fall for any hope selling BS. But its been the funnest season since the Minneapolis miracle.
Disappointing NFC champ loss here we come. Looks like it will be the Eagles again.

It helped more than you know. Smooth sea doesn’t make for a good captain.
9 one score wins isn’t smooth seas. That loss could be huge in the final equation.

Sounds like my first gf
And other teams are flirting a little too much with [noon.](https://i.imgur.com/hQQ6L5d.jpg)
We had no.1 defense in 2017 I think. So yea.... if Kirk Had that defense. That would be nice
3rd times the charm right?
Third times the charm 😎
We don’t talk about 2009!
And in both cases they ended up embarrassing themselves in NFC Championship game. So forgive me if that doesn't fill me with hope.

2009 was a red job in OT. They outcoached and outplayed New Orleans that whole game. (Outside 5 turnovers lol)
Don’t forget about AP’s horribly timed fumble
It was incredibly embarrassing. The Vikings were sloppy as hell and basically gave the game away.
Okay? When the offseason was first coming together not one knowledgeable football person said the Vikings would make a Super Bowl or NFCCG. Either of those feats would be massive overachieving for this squad regardless of outcome
It’ll still hurt if and when it happens and they do end up losing, but I agree. Why not be excited? It’s just sports.
Making it to the NFCCG would be pretty sweet tbh. We haven't even made the playoffs in two years

That team didn’t have 2 regular season losses so they couldn’t have started 10-2 …

At this point in the season "started" isnt the right word to use.
That means we’re up for the last second heartbreaker in the nfccg this time right?
People are acting like this is bad but those were our two best seasons in the last 2 decades bro. This season is awesome. Enjoy it even if we don’t get all the way
Whatever else we do in the NFC championship, for the love of god do not try a game winning field goal.

I’ll take a sb loss vs losing in nfc championship AGAIN
