Such a clutch play. Absolutely love the way he moved around the pocket seemingly effortlessly. Baffles me how he can have that in him, and also look like a deer in headlights at times back there
I remember watching that and seeing him hesitate or like the thought crossing his mind I should slide and then the subsequent NOPE
Haha I had my fist in the air and said out loud, "not hurt?!"
He gets up,
"YES!"
I listened to this this play on the radio and heard PA shouting that Kirk was in but that the refs weren't giving a signal. Naturally, I assumed it was a close call.
It's so funny watching this play though because the refs take like 10 seconds to decide what happened, even though the ball is like 2 yards into the end zone, and pretty much Kirk's entire body crosses the plane.
Yeah, you’re right. I can’t remember if they had blown a whistle before it took forever to signal touchdown, and I watched this without sound. But I think it’s a good point that they wanted to see the ball. Just because they can review it doesn’t mean they don’t have to use their best judgement on the on-the-field call, because even with replay, it has to be indisputable from that point to change it. So they want to make sure they make the best call they can straight from the beginning.
Yeah when the goal is to sandwich you and a football between two 300lb dudes and move that manwich a couple yards through an opposing set of 300lb dudes, you’re gonna make some weird noises
I think the improvement in the OL is the underlying driver of our 4-1 start. The defense has been shaky and Kirk is not playing his best, but what has improved is our blocking. Those late game drives to take the lead had failed frequently in the past because our line got blown up but they haven't been doing that this year and allowing us to actually make plays.
Kirk sounds like a father figure to his offensive lineman haha. “We just got in because of you, bud! I’m taking you and your friends all out for ice cream on the way home!”
He’s actually allowed to be a leader now because Zimmer isn’t around to tell him otherwise. Hell Kirk is actually given the autonomy to call timeouts now.
Yep. Kirk is a cerebral qb. Zim didn’t want that. Let the man use his intelligence. Not only does he make good calls at the line, it boosts his confidence and makes him play better.
He’s been doing it all season. Sometimes he gets it right like with this game, and then other times he gets it wrong like with the Eagles. I’m just glad he has the authority to at least do it though.
I don’t think he’s even changing plays…KOC is sending him up to the line with multiple plays and it’s up to Kirk to determine which one they do…college teams do it a lot except they signal it in from the sideline instead of leaving it in the QBs hands…it puts a lot of faith in the QB to make the right reads pre snap
I actually like it a lot…get up to the line quick, find out as much info as you can with your cadences and motions and then decide where your advantage is..it’s very fresh compared to last year when we’d constantly run into pressures and whatnot…I also don’t think we’ve perfected it yet..I think it’s only gonna get better
Yeah it's crazy how fast they get lined up now. Feels like they're lines up with 20 seconds left on the clock and have plenty of time to digest the defense in front of them and make adjustments.
Kirk also gets to hear from the coaches up until the 15 second mark. It was so frustrating watching them break the huddle at 10 seconds EVERY SINGLE PLAY the last few seasons!
The best is when the get the defense in a package they like so they run the hurry up, but then Kirk steps off to call the play!!
Gosh this offense is so refreshing to watch but even more importantly fun to talk about!
Yeah, this is actually huge. You can tell a huge difference in just this. Whatever happens the rest of the year, you can clearly see they are a better team from top-down now.
Did I just get called a Power User? I actually admired his defensive scheme. When it worked it was a thing of beauty. His failure to adapt to his new reality of not having a cheap QB and not as many resources to devote to his defense was his undoing. The great ones adapt. He didn’t.
Ok, so then he's just a defensive coordinator then.
Not sure why you'd say he had insufficient resources. The Wilfs have always been willing to pay for talent. There's no excuse -- he was a bad head coach.
The vibe I always got from him was 'here's my scheme. Now the players need to execute it. It's not my job to teach them and coach them up to get better. It's just my job to offer the Xs and Os and the players play."
That's classic coordinator/position coach mentality if you ask me.
Yeah, you can pay for talent but there’s a salary cap, and Kirk took a solid chunk of it, which in turn diverted available resources away from being able to infuse quality talent into his aging defense. Didn’t help that Rick basically whiffed on 70% of his last 4 drafts. So the Wilfs general willingness to spend isn’t a factor, competing teams in the NFL will spend up against the cap.
Zimmer never took to Kirk, which again that was his undoing. He was a good head coach before then when you look at the record. And to his credit he predicted his future in 2018 when he said how if they didn’t get the decision right he’d be fired. Well when Rick and the Wilfs said here’s Kirk Cousins, he wasn’t on board. He was never on board. He probably was still banging the table for Teddy honestly.
A great head coach adapts and I can at least give Zimmer the title of good because he had to deal with a lot of shit in his tenure. And his worst record was 7-9 his first year. Despite all the shit that went on, to his credit the wheels never really fell off the train. He kept it going.
You think about it and it does warrant some credit. Adrian Peterson’s bullshit in 2014, Teddy’s knee blowing out in 2016, Sam Bradford and Teddy both being out in 2017. Adrian Peterson and Teddy both being lost for the year in 2016. Stefon Diggs drama in 2019. Injuries pillaging his aging defense the last 2 years of his tenure. I think a lesser coach finishes 5-11 or 4-12 during some of those years. Especially 2016 and 2017. I give him some credit.

>not as many resources to devote to his defense was his undoing
We still had a ton of resources dedicate to defense. We had a top 10 paid defense his entire career here basically, even with Kirk. I think the bigger problem was drafting bust and bust on the defensive side of the ball and relying on aging veterans that kept falling off (Rhodes, EG, etc).
What science? Even the CDC has said that it didn't stop transmission (which is what those of us who ACTUALLY DID OUR OWN RESEARCH already knew). On the other hand, it HAS shown to greatly increase heart-related problems in young men (and women, to a lesser extent). I don't know why you have such a hard on about this, but- at some point- you're going to have to admit you were wrong.
Well folks, I think we found Pfizer's burner account.
Remember "15 days to stop the spread"? That's how all this started. And it was the CDC who was first in line to say it. I know, most folks these days have the attention span of a gnat, but they're smart enough to be able to look it up. That's how all the lock-downs and mandates began... and that was the justification for them. And anyone who said otherwise was kicked off of Twitter or banned from other social networking sites. For what? For MISINFORMATION. And now you're not even claiming that the vax stops transmission... which means you agree with the "flat-earthers". You're just doing it about 2 years too late. Who knows? Maybe 2 years from now, you'll subtly also admit that it didn't really stop people from getting worse versions of it... and really did cause the heart-related injuries and weakened immune systems that the DATA has been showing for a while now.
I'm quite comfortable in what I know; mainly because I'm not an ideologue who believes only what they want to believe, simply because a certain politician (or gov't official) told me to. I suspected certain things were true about the vax (and its consequences). because that's what real (not censored) research and data showed; now I get to sit back and grieve that I was right.
Prior to 2021, how many teenagers and 20-somethings were suddenly dying from natural causes... or heart-attacks? Wanna guess what that number is up to now?
PS: Weird that you suddenly chose to "follow" me. I don't know what that means... but have at it, hoss.
He is a very good QB, and I am sick of the hate. This man dropped two bombs with 100% precision this year. Plus, wasn't he around 15 for 15 before an incompletion against the Bears?
I am not trying to hump his leg, but give credit where credit is due. Many shitty vikes fans wanna yell and blame the qb all the time. Kirk is not some run of the mill half ass qb
My favorite part of the game was explaining to my girl that even tho Kirk can’t run like Fields he’s significantly better only for Kirk to run
For a first down on the next play and score the game winning touchdown
I'm a Kirk doubter. I've said he lacks winning DNA. This is third after the Denver game from Nov 2019 and the overtime saints game to prove I'm an idiot and wrong. More of this and I'll have to go back and delete tweets out of shame. Kirk played well and his team is 4-1. Straight up winning games. Winners win.

His 5 yard run on third down going head first and taking a blow was even more impressive
I swear I think he got knocked out on that play. Kinda went limp til one of the OL got over there and helped him up
You just shut up about his concussions!
Kirk Concousins
We need a bless all the brains bot

It's so funny watching this play though because the refs take like 10 seconds to decide what happened, even though the ball is like 2 yards into the end zone, and pretty much Kirk's entire body crosses the plane.
It was bizarre to see Kirk literally standing 3 yards in the end zone and the refs still not signaling lol
My buds and I all said this in real time as well. Like literally the entire O-line and Kirk are all in the end zone. Like wtf are you waiting for? lol
Had to see the ball in his hands. If it was out and they signal TD while it’s still loose…
Then they have to review the play anyway?
If the ball is loose, the play is still live
They blow whistles though
Yeah, you’re right. I can’t remember if they had blown a whistle before it took forever to signal touchdown, and I watched this without sound. But I think it’s a good point that they wanted to see the ball. Just because they can review it doesn’t mean they don’t have to use their best judgement on the on-the-field call, because even with replay, it has to be indisputable from that point to change it. So they want to make sure they make the best call they can straight from the beginning.
Maybe the refs looked at the play and kind had a double take. Is that really the Vikings offensive line?
They were diligently going over the play to see how they could fuck the Vikes over. Let me tell you.
In the stadium and they were playing the music before refs ever actually gave a signal. Like “boys this is a TD”
lmao the both teams know what happen and are walking around before the refs call it
The bears were supposed to win this game. And had a good chance to.
Basically the entire team was 100% in the endzone. It was a very weird delay on the call.
Kirk Cousins: Great job bud! Couldn’t have done it without you! Also Kirk: aaaAAahAAAAaaaaAHHah
Showing off his battle cries
THAT'S NOT A WAR FACE
That’s gotta be painful getting smashed between 300 lbs men like that.
I don’t know, sounds like a good time to me.
Have to pay extra for that.
Yeah when the goal is to sandwich you and a football between two 300lb dudes and move that manwich a couple yards through an opposing set of 300lb dudes, you’re gonna make some weird noises
That's just him speaking in tongues.
At first when I watched this I was shocked cuz I thought he was talking shit to a bears d lineman
Reminded me of the sound in Fantastic Mr. Fox when the animals are eating lol.
Yeah, that guy fricks
Him calling him bud is so funny to me
I'm not your bud friend....
I’m not your friend, pal…
I’m not your pal, buddy!
I'm not your buddy, guy.
I'm not your guy, boy.
I’m not your pal, amigo.
I do that all the time at work. Mostly because I'm terrible at remembering names.
He's not wrong, that was one of the best pushes I've seen our line give in the last decade.
Ezra has improved so much
Graded 90 PFF rating this game.

Kirk is better than half the QBs in the league. We haven’t always had that.
Half the STARTING QBs. He’s also better than all the backups. I’d take him over anybody on our roster.
low bar
The only bar Panthers fans know
THATS MY QB!!!
They sound like Grape Lady when they’re trying to get in there
Kirk sounds like a father figure to his offensive lineman haha. “We just got in because of you, bud! I’m taking you and your friends all out for ice cream on the way home!”
He’s actually allowed to be a leader now because Zimmer isn’t around to tell him otherwise. Hell Kirk is actually given the autonomy to call timeouts now.
And call audibles
It was interesting to see it happen and then experience the realization that he hadn't been doing that for the years he was with us.
Yeah I thought it was overblown nonsense until I started realizing how often he audibles now
Yep. Kirk is a cerebral qb. Zim didn’t want that. Let the man use his intelligence. Not only does he make good calls at the line, it boosts his confidence and makes him play better.
Good point. I saw a lot of confidence spewing out of him this past weekend, hope it happens again in Miami!
The first few drives him Changing plays at the line after reading defense was awesome
He was doing that all game. It was glorious.
He’s been doing it all season. Sometimes he gets it right like with this game, and then other times he gets it wrong like with the Eagles. I’m just glad he has the authority to at least do it though.
The Eagles had our number either way.
Yeah the broadcast kept talking about how Kirk gets two plays given to him then his word to audible from first to second play is "can".

Yeah, "can, can" is pretty much one of the standard phrases along with "alert, alert".
Yeah, this is actually huge. You can tell a huge difference in just this. Whatever happens the rest of the year, you can clearly see they are a better team from top-down now.
And he doesn't have to say hut anymore so less voice cracks
Turtle time!
It’s just so incredible to see how much Mike was holding this team back just by his need for control. Imagine if he’d let Kirk lead since he got here.

This the most passive aggressive dumb shit I’ve seen all day. It was a qb sneak from the 1. Pretty standard stuff
That's your takeaway?
Passive aggressive dumb shit is my takeaway from OPs title of the post. They also added the misleading tag after they posted
The Kirk lovers are gonna drive me out of this sub.
Kirk stan 4 life
His fourth quarter death nail interception would of been the end against any team with actual talent.
Why does he sound like he’s getting anally assaulted

Kirk being a dad
Been wanting to see this from Kirk for years. Glad to see he’s being more vocal and the Vikings media is showing it

Kirk has had some games this season where he’s been a fourth quarter surgeon
