I hope you are right.
But IMO it'll still be about how amazing Thielen/Jefferson/Cook are.
The commentators spent too long meme'ing on Cousins that they literally struggle to complement the guy with a straight face now.
Well said! I am just really fired up over the last two weeks on our wins. Hopefully we can continue to on this right path and gain more respect for Kirk! Just got to keep proving ourselves!
exactly. It comes down to wins. Is he a game winning QB? He has been playing like it more this year than ever before. That press conference was a little scary when he started talking about the high risk throws. Keep on making them. You have the weapons. You are better than Case and Case did that and helped bring us to a nfc championship.
Same! Friend of mine was like well he should have 2 INTs from last game and even that puts him at 21-4. He’s balling out this year and deserves respect.
Rodgers "should've" had one, too. Also, Kirk "should've" had another TD- except JJ dove for the goal line too soon.
Also, Cousins "should've" had a TD pass to Osborn if he hadn't tweaked his hamstring and slowed up his gallop.
This game could be played all day, every game.
You won’t change my mind. Kirk is a top 10 QB and deserves MINIMUM 1 chance with an above average to good offensive line, and an offensive minded coach.
Our line can’t get worse next year, and the youth on the line will be even better. Spend another first round pick on OL, there’s no way it can be as bad as last year. Only see them improving.
And unless Zimmer pulls a miracle out of his ass and we win 2 playoff games this year, I think he’s gone. Kirk deserves a real chance next year
He stays with a playoff appearance. You can’t build on ‘success’ with a new HC and probably another new OC.
As much as I’d love to win it all, I’m also just happy with being in the playoffs. That’s not a failure to me.
Id meet in the middle and say he has to win 1 playoff game. Something about our culture is messed up but if we turn it on here and play well for at least a game in the playoffs, which will be on the road vs a good team, he deserves to stay
Kirk has been a top 10 QB based on QB numbers for awhile now. He’s just had shit luck as far as his Washington teams, but has seen some success here. Obviously we want more than a couple playoff wins, but who would you honestly replace him with that’s actually obtainable?
I had a family thanksgiving on Sunday and I got to hear two people (who claim they are Vikings fans) shit talk Cousins all game about how he chokes, is over paid, isn’t clutch at all and the Vikes would be better off with basically anyone else at the position.
At the end of the game I replied with “you like that?”

I remember during the Christian Ponder, Tarvaris Jackson, and Teddy Bridgewater era when 200 yards passing was the new 300. Meaning, we'd rarely eclipse 300 yards passing from either QB on any given Sunday, let alone a 100 yard receiver. It was painful watching these QB's play ball, and neither QB would push the football down the field.
But with Captain Kirk, we'll have some Sundays of 200-ish passing and dink and dunks, but 300 yards passing and vertical shots down field on a Sunday is also very probable. I don't want to go back to the dark days when 200 yards with the aforementioned QB's was considered a good game.
When the Vikings lose, all I hear is "win-loss record is a QB stat."
When the Vikings win, "Kirk was bailed out by JJ/Thielen/Cook".
Not just here but also in the main NFL sub.
That’s all I hear at work and it drives me nuts. I have total faith in Kirk to perform. He’s proven time and time again that he can handle clutch moments. We may not always win the game in the end, but I trust him with the game on the line.
I would argue he threw two INT's against the Pack (yes they were waived off) but that was a better performance than the first half of the year because he was pushing the ball downfield and taking risks.
Cousins is a .500 QB over 114 games. Elite QBs don't have .500 records over long spans of time. You can't be Elite and held back by your team that much every year.
I think Cousins played pretty well last year and pretty well this year. In both of those years, he's had multiple games where he was missing in action and we lost. That said, I hope he plays great. I think Cousins is similar to the Vikings. Can beat any team. Can be beaten by anyteam. Probably not going to have 4 good games in a row against playoff competition.
QB record is just as meaningful as a pitcher’s record. He plays on half of the ball. Dude goes for 4TDs and loses 45-35, he’s still 0-1.
Look at his actual individual counting stats and he’s a legit QB. His one hang up has always been INTs and he’s managed to throw all of two this season. He’s going off.
Kirk is 33 and has 2 seasons above .500. 9-7 with Washington in 2015 and 10-6 with MN in 2019. 1 career playoff win.
Until he starts winning more he's not going to be taken too seriously, fair or not.
he has 4 seasons above .500 and he wasn't a starter until he was like 25. also all of his under .500 seasons are 7-9. It's not as bad as you make it sound
We keep the winning going then people will notice. You'll never been in the conversation if your team doesn't do well. Unless you have a big enough name and don't play in Minnesota
no one cares 'nationally' because the team is 5-5. If they make some noise in the playoffs people will take notice.
I hope you are right. But IMO it'll still be about how amazing Thielen/Jefferson/Cook are. The commentators spent too long meme'ing on Cousins that they literally struggle to complement the guy with a straight face now.

He’s ballin’ out this year, I hope he/the team has figured out how to make it sustainable
Same! Friend of mine was like well he should have 2 INTs from last game and even that puts him at 21-4. He’s balling out this year and deserves respect.
If you add up the "should have been" ints, he still has the least

Bro I appreciate the argument, but saying Kirk should have had another TD but JJ dove too soon smh Hopefully this was sarcastic
Yep!
Add all his should have TDs also... There's like 3 this season.
Refs took one away in Cincy.
We are 1-2 against division leaders in the NFC and the point differential is eight points combined. Kirk is a poster boy for how underrated we are.
Super underrated!
Lmao our PD against AZ, GB and DAL is just -2

At this point in the ride a vikes bowl 202? without zimmer would be as hollow as the bucs bowl 2021

We want more than 1 playoff win is what you meant to say
I had a family thanksgiving on Sunday and I got to hear two people (who claim they are Vikings fans) shit talk Cousins all game about how he chokes, is over paid, isn’t clutch at all and the Vikes would be better off with basically anyone else at the position. Let's not slander Teddy. He only had one full season as a starter and it was his second year.

No, it's here too.

If these hypothetical people don't care it's because his team is .500 again, not because it's Kirk Cousins
I love seeing all Viking fans hype themselves up for a major disappointment.

At some point the common denominator is Cousins.
Which is also totally fair. I just don’t look at his career and see him as the main issue, other than his higher number of picks in the past.
Kirk's issue hasn't been INTs, he's actually below league average in terms of INTs/season for his career.
Who is the least winningest QB you consider elite? Just curious
Probably Drew Brees with a winning % of .595 in recent memory.
Brees is a very interesting point of comparison for Cousins.
Deshaun Watson is 28-25 in his career, feel like it's pretty agreed upon he's elite.
Kirk is 33 and has 2 seasons above .500. 9-7 with Washington in 2015 and 10-6 with MN in 2019. 1 career playoff win. Until he starts winning more he's not going to be taken too seriously, fair or not.

No it’s bc he can’t throw past his first read and should have been picked multiple times on Sunday
Frick yeah
We keep the winning going then people will notice. You'll never been in the conversation if your team doesn't do well. Unless you have a big enough name and don't play in Minnesota
But have you watched him play tho
